Back on the generator, not because of scheduled infrastructure upgrades but because of a freak voltage dip that seems to affect our entire neighborhood. Some stuff works, some doesn't. We need the generator for the air conditioner but our internet works fine and some of our LED lights work while some are dead and others flicker.

low voltage is really hard on motors/compressors. as in easy to burn them out as they will try to draw more amps to compensate.

(modern) solid state stuff is much more tolerate of low voltages as modern switching power supplies run from like 90 volts and up.

Indeed. That's why we unplugged our fridge, freezer, fans, etc. and ran the AC and washing machine on the generator.

What surprised me was the LCD lights. I thought that the voltage step-down circuitry in the bulbs was basically voltage limiters and rectifiers and would have no problem. Strange that some worked fine, some didn't work at all, and some flickered.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Another day another AYH (barely) and still bouncing around in the $28k range.

Let's see what today brings.

Normally when we're on the generator the internet is down because our 2-man service provider has no power. Damnedest thing I ever saw. I don't have a voltmeter to see exactly what's happening and our local electrician is out of town.

Life in the jungle. Tomorrow we head back to "civilization".

You misspelled "ghey". C'mon get woke.

I'm actually gay, tho.

....

did that old white man just assumed your gender?

"old white man" is pejorative in any language, pal (or gal-pal).

Yes let's not get insulting.

I'm not an "old white man". I'm a geriatric honky breeder.

My skin isn't white. It's "flesh-colored" (according to crayon manufacturers), sort of a pinkish color. Johnny Winter was a "white man".

 Cool

Oh I see.

Being gay and black it's acceptable to call yourself gay (and use the N word) but being white and hetero it's not acceptable if I do it.

I guess it's OK for me to call myself a honky breeder though.

This woke stuff can be so confusing.  Cool

Oh look, how pleasant.
A nice little all year high.
Let's go Bitcoin go.

Everything changes with time

Can't do it. This is too gay for 3 merits even.

EDIT: Petitioning Theymos for fractional merits. eg: I would like to grant 3.3 merits to denote double-gay

You misspelled "ghey". C'mon get woke.
569  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 18, 2023, 03:41:27 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

No new AYH yet today but we're still hanging in over $27k.

Just a little weekend consolidation.

I used to keep my merits for non-legendaries.

Now only rarely do I find a merit worthy post by non-legends; let alone beginners. What has happened to the WO? Do I sound like a fading boomer if I suspect only the "old guard" is keeping this place interesting?

Wow so I was right about that recent green candle and you farmed your merits by kissing legends ass. LOL

Members like you would rather merit a bag of candies that look like dicks calling it "interesting" rather than a someone who posts something relevant to recent bitcoin movements. Not surprised that this bitcoin forum gets fewer posts and members each year.

The rule by OP which clearly states "Do not post random comments on this thread, unless it is directly related to the last wall update" but you are too ignorant to read them.

Maybe you should stick to Twitter and Youtube.

I vaguely remember something.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, not a completely false memory:

It's still St. Paddy's day here.

Cheers.

Nice green walls.
573  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 17, 2023, 03:04:01 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Another day another AYH, even if only briefly.

Got the power back on last night. Hopefully that's all the outages this trip. Generator gas supply getting low. Also not having internet access is like not being in the 21st century. I feel whole again. Thank you Vint Cerf.

Onward and upward. Go Bitcoin go.
574  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will (probably) go lower. on: March 14, 2023, 10:48:08 PM
Bitcoin is not all about the USA. It's a global phenomenon.
575  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is ageing and old people part of bitcoin? on: March 14, 2023, 04:34:52 PM
I'm 75 years old. I bought into Bitcoin 10 years ago when it was $68 per coin because I saw its world-changing potential. I wasn't trying to get rich. I was participating in a revolution.

Now I'm living happily ever after. When I first became a Bitcoin millionaire 6 years ago, I replaced my old rotten teeth with top-of-the-line zirconia implants and bought 3 properties in Mexico. When my remaining bitcoins became worth more than $10m I bought 400 acres in prime cottage country with my own private 25 acre lake in the middle. Last year I bought a $2m triplex house in downtown Toronto. After a life of being single, I got married at the age of 71 to a woman 28 years younger than me. I didn't tell her about my bitcoins until after we were already together. Turns out she knew about Bitcoin before I did and always regretted putting her money into aquaponics instead of Bitcoin.

If anything, older people have an advantage when it comes to Bitcoin. They are more likely to have money to invest and definitely have more patience to hodl. They're probably also smarter. Remember it was boomers who gave us the internet  and cryptography. Don't sell them short.

BTC to FUD -

Fear? Uncertainty? Doubt?

I think not. Bitcoin is confidently going up.

Maybe you're referring to shitty Mexican processed meat products.

577  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 14, 2023, 03:25:17 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Another day, another leg up. This time up to $26.5k before leveling out around $26k. Almost a repeat of yesterday's jump of a couple of grand in a couple of hours.

Hopefully we'll continue the trend... a healthy sideways period to digest the leg up and then do it again tomorrow.

Unfortunately I won't be able to see it. They're cutting the power off tomorrow and Thursday so we'll be back on the generator with no internet. Heading back to Playa del Carmen a week from today and up to Toronto 3 days after that. Maybe we'll be back up over $30k reach page parity by then.

You silly bears still waiting for $12k?

OMG no. Please don't tell be you've become a Bieber.
579  Economy / Speculation / Re: Experience about trading in btc on: March 13, 2023, 04:23:24 PM
Trading is not investing. It is gambling. Buying an asset which you strongly value is investing.

Did you buy your house with the idea of selling it and waiting for a cheaper house to buy and sell again?

You probably bought your house to live in and enjoy. If it increases in value, that's just a bonus.

Selling your house to spend the money on lottery tickets, trading or casinos is just plain foolish.

A few people have become wealthy by selling their homes and investing in Bitcoin but they didn't do it by trading. They did it by holding long-term and they did it because they strongly believed in Bitcoin's importance.
580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 13, 2023, 03:46:38 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Up from under $22k to over $24.6k in less tha 3 hours. How sweet it is.

Looks like $25k is safe for now but let's see what happens after the market digests this.

A little sideways would be healthy now. Then we can get back to correcting the ridiculous dip below $40k.

...NY Regulators swooped in and confiscated all assets and operations...

Ahhh, the land of the free.  Cool
