Good morning Bitcoinland.

Bouncing along nicely... currently $56575USD/$71254CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Looking good. Go Bitcoin go.

Stop jerking us around and gib $60k already!?

Confirmed it is not going to happen.

Well your math and science failed...

Proudhon's math and science didn't fail.

He has his own special math and science. Works great for him.  Cool

Our planet has seen no less than 4 or 5 ice ages. It will come again. They say the climate change will make everything melt too. Better be prepared to live at both extremes. I would personally find it nicer to live in a colder country as most homes can be easily insulated and heated.

Yeah, but shoveling the driveway and getting snowed in has a very limited entertainment value.

Snowblower on your tractor and a warm fireplace insert makes this a lovely weekend.

I've always said that it's easier to make a heater than an air conditioner out of sticks and stones.
1103  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk and BTC on: March 10, 2021, 05:41:44 PM
But I have a very short question. Which "Wall street" or other professional investor with clear mind would invest in THE MOST VOLATILE COMMODITY IN THE WORLD  after it reached $57 000

Answer:

A smart one.

After the little correction down to $43k, we're right back up over $57k again.

Yes, the Elon Musk news may have been the spark that triggered the rise from under $40k to the ATH, but it was destined to happen anyway.

This bull market is still young.

I think you made a typo - the tax rate on capital gains over $220,001 (to infinity - go go bitcoin!!) in Ontario 26.76%
Indeed. I meant to type 26.5%. I just pulled the number out of my memory. I'd remembered it as 26.5% instead of 26.76%.

Funny thing that... the 0.26% I'd rounded off represents over a year's property taxes on the land.
You had me thinking I was paying too much!  I almost had a heart attack.

It could be worse. Remember George Harrison's song from 1960s Britain?

"Let me tell you how it will be... one for you, nineteen for me... 'cause I'm the taxman."

Still, "Three for you, one for me... 'cause I'm the CRA" is bad enough.
1105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 10, 2021, 02:26:13 PM
When you see someone doing U-turns on what he did or didn't do, and also replying to every post prodding him for his stupidity, you just know he fucked up, and trying to feel better about himself. Just like most traders/gamblers. They tend to be arrogant when they're on a winning streak, thinking they're in control, until they realize they've been working for the house all along.

"This is the end result of all the bright lights and the comp trips, of all the champagne and free hotel suites and all the broads and all the booze. It’s all been arranged just for us to get your money. That’s the truth about Las Vegas. We’re the only winners. The players don’t stand a chance." — Martin Scorsese's Casino (1995)

$27k... Yeah, right.

Remember:

Tarders/gamblers should be pitied not scorned.

Yes, their degeneracy may be born of stupidity but it's also a symptom of an addiction, a weakness.

Just as a heroin junkie or crackhead lives in squalor, panhandling and stealing for that next fix, while the druglords live in opulent splendor, the Tarding junkies moan on internet forums while the online exchange operators and money transferers get rich.

It not only requires intelligence to be a hodler, it requires strength.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a nice little $2.8k correction overnight and then bounced all the way back up... currently $56131USD/$71004CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

New ATH soon? Go Bitcoin go.

2. States that have low or no income taxes
3. States that have low property taxes (this is huge!!...

Escaping over-taxation is a biggie.

We own 5 properties in Quintana Roo and are buying 400 acres including a lake in Ontario.

We pay zero income taxes and zero property taxes in Quintana Roo.

Our Ontario property has taxes of $2100CAD ($1660USD) per year. The only income taxes we pay are for capital gains on the Bitcoin we sold to buy the land and lake. Capital gains taxes in Ontario are capped at 16.5% 26.76%.

By using a construction site office trailer as a cottage instead of building a structure, we'll avoid a costly tax increase. If it has wheels and a trailer hitch, it's legal as a seasonal domicile and needs no permits nor red tape. Here's one we're considering:

It has 2 rooms, a 10'x10' bedroom with a closet to hold a chemical camp toilet as an ensuite, and a 20'x10' open-concept kitchenette/dinette/living room. Both rooms have steel commercial-grade exterior doors and our windows will be burglar/vandal-proof Lexan MR-10. It is fully insulated and has a one-piece rubber roof. We'll add an RV-certified wood stove.

We'll use deep-cycle boat batteries (with solar) for power, with a Honda Eu2200i as backup and for air conditioning. This is the same generator as our main backup in Quintana Roo. There it powers the AC, freezer, fridge, big screen, and all our LED lights and electronics on less than a gallon of gas for over 8 hours.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Slowly creeping back up... currently $54313USD/$68545CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Heading toward a new ATH and then on to $60k. Hopefully we're done with sub-$50k.

Go Bitcoin go.

Never before in the history of Bitcoin have we had six solid green monthly candles.  This speaks to the strength of the 2021 bull.

Umm...  doesn't that chart show 7 greenies in 2012 and 6 in 2013?

Not sure if "never before" really makes much sense...

2012-2013, or am I misunderstanding something?

Regardless, good numbers indeed.

What? You mean Bitcoin existed before 2017?  Huh
1111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 07, 2021, 05:35:05 PM
...on a world avg would one btc at current prices be enough to buy an avg house ?

Good question. Obviously a yurt in Mongolia would be cheaper than a mansion in Monte Carlo.

It's hard to find any hard data for anything other than cities.

https://www.globalpropertyguide.com/most-expensive-cities

Perhaps a better measure would be that 1BTC is plenty to *build* a decent house. It's usually the land that is the stinger.

I was including land and structure.

I feel like a jerk to say that, but those who trust their email communication to an Outlook server the internet almost deserve it. When will they learn?

ftfy

This position is a little bit too drastic for me. I think communication on the Internet can hit a sweet spot between effectiveness and safety. Of course, the right tools are needed, but they must be made widely available to the largely uninformed masses.

Of course you're right. We're communicating here aren't we?

If someone really needs to talk about anything important though, wouldn't Signal or Protonmail be better choices?

Microsoft? Apple? Google? Facebook? Lawl.

Near future one BTC,
enough to buy property!
Laughed away by fools.

I bought my first house
In Mexico for less than
One entire bitcoin.

That was 3 years back.
The price of a whole bitcoin
Has tripled since then.

In Toronto it
Would cost 15 coins to buy
An average house.

I guess it depends
More on location than on
The price of Bitcoin.

Good morn Bitcoinland.
Fifty thousand four twenty
(Bitcoinaverage).

Over fifty grand,
But for how long will it last?
This ain't over yet.

How does word soup like this get published?

Quote
Blockchain Professor Gary Gensler, nominee by President Biden to be the next chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), words when asked how he will approach technology and digital assets is a worry says Ran after the soon to be SEC chairman, who will decide if Bitcoin gets an ETF and the USA adopts cryptocurrency, said the commission will be technology neutral (3:40).

Shudder.

The mindless Youtube drivel, incohesive thought patterns and total lack of grammatical skills reminds me of the movie Idiocracy.

I realize that Youtube does have some valid uses (like repair tutorials etc) but some people watch it like TV and actually believe the bullshit spewed on "shows" like the ones mentioned here.

Total idiocracy.

1116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people buying BTC @ $27000+ idiots? on: March 07, 2021, 01:36:11 AM
Perhaps idiots can be called exactly those people who refused to invest their funds in Bitcoin at a price lower than $ 10,000 a year and a half ago

How about those who refused to invest their fiat in Bitcoin when it was less than $4k less than a year ago.

The real idiots are those who actually sold for less than $10k.
1117  Economy / Speculation / Re: magic ball ON on: March 07, 2021, 12:49:31 AM
Alt season was 4 years ago and ended 3 years ago.

The alt fad was just a scam to rip off suckers.
1118  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much lower you think BTC can go in this drop ? on: March 06, 2021, 04:24:41 PM
Hi Guys i would like some opinions, in this drop how low can btc go before it starts going up again , any idea what is the resistance or what could the bottom floor be for it ? I was hoping around 40-42k but it seems that it does not want to go below 47k , what do you think ? Thank you

Why do you hope for the price to go down? Did you sell unnecessarily?

Now's a great time to buy.
1119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 06, 2021, 03:35:00 PM
Good Morning Bitcoinland.

Sideways 'r' us... currently $47580USD/$60209CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Ho hum. More coffee or back to bed?

Thats not a FIAT, it's an ABARTH. (at least the logo)
Ugh. Right you are. Search lied to me and I picked it cause it was the most photogenic. Sad
since abarth was bought by fiat in 1971, you were not really wrong. dirty fiat is dirty fiat.
I see what you did there.   Cheesy

"Dirty Fiat" was the reason I merited Richy in the first place.

Fiat 500. You add the adjective.
1120  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 05, 2021, 06:56:33 PM
Good afternoon Bitcoinland.

Still bouncing sideways $48431USD/$61331CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

The battle for $50k wont be over until we pass $60k.

Go Bitcoin go.

Bitcoin could prevent society from functioning and is an ‘extreme form of libertarian anarchism,’ warns this fund manager

Same old inaccurate BS by a uninformed FUDster with a vested interest in the status quo:

Quote
“Bitcoin mining mostly takes place in Asian economies (65% in China) where the electricity supply is from coal and other fossil fuels,” he said. “We can therefore calculate that bitcoin mining produces around 55 million metric tons of CO2 [carbon dioxide] a year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of Finland and more than the emissions of countries such as Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

“Bitcoin has therefore added CO2 emissions equivalent to the annual output of a medium-sized advanced economy. And as the bitcoin price rallies, so the mining activity will intensify, producing even higher levels of CO2 emissions.

“It is difficult to think of any other human activity that is simultaneously quite so pointless and quite so damaging to the planet.”

I thought that China's Bitcoin miners' reliance on cheap hydroelectric power was the reason most are located in western China (with many building their own dams) and the reason for a seasonal hashing dip with the dry season. Oh noes. It's all those nasty hydroelectric emissions!

That one's complete crap. Now can we move on to drugs, money laundering, kiddie porn and terrorism please?  Roll Eyes
