But first, you must BELIEVE!!

562  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: KNCMINER on: July 07, 2013, 09:22:10 AM
I used the UPS quote/calculator thing today and to ship 1x unit of Mercury from Sweden to Australia would cost me $550+ USD for shipping alone... that is not with any other fees or GST (which is payable on good purchased and imported to Australia over $1000 AUD)...

Sad

I'll just sit here in this dark corner of this technological wasteland of a country while ya'll make your BTC.

Given the problems with delays from BFL, I don't think I could ever pre-order hardware from any mining hardware company. I will stick with what is available right now.

That's an Anker 10 port hub and someone has put a custom decal on it (bitcoin). They are not rasb pi combatible. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NGQWL2/

The fan is this http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/equipment/peripherals/55/arctic-breeze-mobile.html?c=2195 how loud can a USB be be lol?

I just finished my setup using this adjustable stepdown-converter for solar-powering my usb-hub and this converter for solar-powering my raspberry.

Running three Block Erupter USB-Miners along with the raspberry and the hub I am running at 0.8A.
Pretty cool! Smiley

You've obviously gone to a lot of work for all this, I'd love to see some pics of what you came up with in the end. Like panels/battery/charger etc. Maybe put it in the mining hardware pic thread (130+ pages thread)?
565  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How long an assembled board miner lives? on: July 07, 2013, 09:02:29 AM
When will my phone stop working?

When will my TV die?

When will my light bulbs burn out?

When will my car engine need to be replaced?

How long will I live?

When will the earth be destroyed?

How will the earth be destroyed?

What will happen to the solar system?

Will the inverse expand to infinity or contract? Or will there be a heat death of the universe...

Why are we here?

Precise answers will be appreciated please.

That's pretty good, cheapest I could find in Australia is $105. But there are probably better things we could be buying right now... like BTC... lol
567  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To all newbies on: July 07, 2013, 08:46:17 AM
I am a total newb, still haven't mined into double digit BTC yet.

Anyway wanted to chime in with my 0.02btc...

The slowness of mining on BTC made me take a look at the alt-coins, and afaict the majority of them use scrypt rather than sha256 as the mining algorithm. As far as I understand it, none of the ASICs presently (or soon to be) out there can mine in the scrypt arena, so while the proliferation of ASICs will make small BTC miners less profitable, I don't think they will make much difference to say litecoin or feathercoin.

If my lack of knowledge here is showing please educate me.

S.

You are pretty much right. The thing is though that there will be changes to the litecoin market because of more GPU miners appearing with pick axes ready to swing. Because litecoin can't be used to 'buy things' as easily as bitcoin, most people are going to be exchanging litecoins for bitcoins, to either cash out or to use to buy things with. The significant variation in the bitcoin trade price lately will also affect litecoin (and all the other altcoins) so it very difficult to predict what will happen over the following months.
568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Win .00006 BTC Everyday with NewbCoin on: July 07, 2013, 08:41:02 AM
Copy/pasting my address is not even worth the possibility of getting $0.0039 USD. That's not even half a cent.

Breach of the long term uptrend line. Next stop, 54-50 usd?

What nonsense, your trendline follows more or less none of the data to begin with, to say it breaches anything is a statistical travesty.
570  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What To Do With Mining Chips? on: July 07, 2013, 08:23:52 AM
Can someone just explain to me how to set up this "board" and make a whole mining rig with that chip. It's something that interests me so I just wanna know how its done. I read on the forum about BFL and I don't know how to build one.

To help you understand why your question is being poked fun at... Your question is like these:

"I want to build a Ferrari, I found a Ferrari fuel pump on ebay for $250... how can I make a Ferrari?"

"I found some uranium minerals on UnitedNuclear.com and ordered 100 gram rock. How can I make a nuclear reactor from it? Power is really expensive where I live."

"I really want to build a bigger garage because the one I have is too small. What kind of concrete would you recommend? Do I have to mix the concrete myself or should I order a truck of it? Anyone got instructions on how to make a slab for my shed? Also what you do you recommend I make the shed walls out of?"
571  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ESET online scanner detects ALL miners as Virus/malware.. ? on: July 07, 2013, 08:17:49 AM
The problem is that some of the code for the miners we want to use is exactly the same code that has been used to create bitcoin mining botnets. The botnet software on the infected clients gets reported to the AV companies, and it all gets blacklisted.

But yes you should always be careful when you download clients and miners, especially on new altcoins.
572  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to get block erupter usb? on: July 07, 2013, 08:13:06 AM
If they are a total waste of money then why do the group buy organisers have such an easy time selling them.

Demand is high for any ASIC.

Demand is really high for any ASIC that you can order right now and get to your doorstep in just the time it takes for post/courier service to ship it.
573  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How much electricity can my wall outlet handle? on: July 07, 2013, 08:10:05 AM
You seem very unsure about it all, I would recommend you have an electrician look at it. While we could tell you the theoretical maximum of your plugs/wiring as per whatever standards exist in Canada, that does not mean that your plugs/wiring currently meet that standard and are in good condition.
574  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 7950 and VDDC on: July 07, 2013, 08:06:16 AM
Definitely set any settings for voltage / clocks with 3rd party (vendor) apps (eg. MSI AB, Trixx, etc) BEFORE you start mining.

If you are changing those settings while the GPU is under load at best it will crash or at worst it might brick your card.

Please be careful and monitor temps closely, remember that pushing the voltage/clocks can permanently damage your card.
575  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: White screen while mining on: July 07, 2013, 07:57:00 AM
Are you still getting those 90+ deg C temps while you are mining? That is arguably too hot. If I had to guess, your card is not stable at those temps and this is just the result that happens when it crashes.
576  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How To Setup a BFL Mining Chip? on: July 07, 2013, 07:55:12 AM
First you should go and get a degree in electrical engineering and then come back to us in 3-4 years we'll tell you where to go from there.
577  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 07, 2013, 04:30:53 AM
is there any solution up yet for using FPGAs / Ztex quads for vanitygen or similar?

I'd like to have 1madmax and some others but my workstation is just getting too hot.

If you want I could generate it for you. Submit an application to https://vanitypool.appspot.com/faq or see the OP and send me the necessary info.
578  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin’s Technocracy on: July 06, 2013, 09:01:56 AM
Except your statement is entirely theoretical and also improbable, because bitcoin miners like to reap the rewards from what they've sown. If they held BTC and never spent it, what would be the point of mining?
579  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPU mining is dead now. on: July 06, 2013, 03:30:47 AM
OK, all off now  Grin

Not keen for the other SHA-256 and scrypt coins? It could be worth your while because the returns are a little better. BTC will rise again, how often would you usually cash out anyway?
580  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post you BFL refund queue position here! on: July 06, 2013, 03:27:17 AM
How long would it take them to get the appropriate certification(s) I wonder? If I had to guess I'd say about 14 days at least.
