561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 12, 2014, 01:31:05 PM
Just for reference, Coinwarz is showing a rough average of $8.40/day for 1 MH, or about 0.0102 BTC/MH for the top 4 or 5 coins (Philosopher Stones appear to be an outlier at $24.88).

What I'm seeing now is about what I reported earlier, ~0.0074 BTC/MH, but I did have a short period < hour with my miners somewhere else.

We do seem to be lagging the estimates of profitability on Coinwarz a little, but what I don't know is how accurate those estimates are.

No doubt income from Hashcows is down.

LOL!!!  I just spent an hour over at middlecoin's Bitcointalk page . . . "it's like deja vu all over again."

Accusations that H20 plans to abscond with the funds, complaints about the low payouts, noticeable decline in daily income/MHash . . . why is my unexchanged thus and so while my exchanged is this? . . . it's been 2 days and I've only earned this much . . . H20 used to post all the time now we hardly see any posts from him . . . blah, blah, blah, whine, whine, whine . . .  Roll Eyes

I had to double check just to make sure I hadn't mistakenly returned to this forum.

In case some of you haven't noticed coin settings were added last night. You can now update coin addresses, set auto-payout balances, and decide if you want to auto trade or keep the coins you mine with us.

You can check it out once you're logged in @ https://hashco.ws/modifycoins/

Would also add in we are aware the last couple of days were on the low end, my personal opinion is our hashrate is hurting us, we need to grow for less variance and improved payouts. Our algro's haven't changed, they are the same one that made many of your a whole lot of BTC pre-hack.

I'm hoping we get the estimates back working today or tomorrow so you can at least get a up to date unexchanged / exchanged est balance.

I did not notice, as the modify coin settings button was at the bottom of a list of coins I didn't care about nor have balances for. Good to know!

One quick inquiry on that topic, we were mining LTC the other day, yet there is no option to save them. Why would we mine LTC, and when we do, why can't they be saved?
Sounds like they newly added LTC due to increased profitability and just forgot.  Good question.  We should be able to reserve any of the coins mined.
564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 11, 2014, 10:18:58 PM
According to the calculator over at WeMineLTC my ~1400KH/s should generate 0.4 LTC/day.  Litecoins are running at .0291 BTC/LTC.  By my calculations that means I would be mining 0.0116 BTC/day if I just mine LTC.

I mined here blind for 6.5 days before I got my payout . . . 0.06774 BTC . . . or .0104 BTC/day . . . that's a difference of 0.0012 BTC or $01.06/day . . . VERY MONEY, SUCH PROFIT.

So right now it costs me ~$30/month to mine here.  That assumes I get full price for the LTCs I mine and LTCs are gradually declining in value against the BTC at an approximate rate of .0002 LTC/BTC /day over the last 15 days..

Edited to insert the correct length of time for the payout.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 11, 2014, 08:43:17 PM
With LTC right now (3.8k diff), it would take about 3.1 days to get to .03 BTC at my hashrate (1150).

If I am getting any less than .01 per day here, it does not appear to be a waste to switch. I have heard talks of people making less than that here with more kh/s than I by double. This might explain the significant difficulty hike on LTC a few days ago. I am not the only one seeing it.

EDIT: Thought I would mention I saw this pool mining Litecoin recently, too.
From the FAQ:  https://www.hashco.ws/faq/

Quote
Your Pool Doesn't Seem to be More Profitable than LTC, What Can I Do?

The unique feature of this pool is that YOU can decide whether to be paid out in Bitcoin, or the original coin, and not only that, but you can do it on a coin by coin basis. There is no question that in most circumstances, a human trader will likely out-perform the type of system this pool employs (We aren't talking trading bots here that sit all day moving tiny amounts, the pool has to sell coins fairly often to return Bitcoin to users quickly). If you feel your profitability is lower than expected, you may want to consider changing some of your coin options. Perhaps there is an alt-coin or two from our list that you feel you could keep and trade more profitably by hand, or that you feel has more future potential and want to hold for a longer term. Perhaps you'll decide you don't want the pool to handle any of your trading, and you can keep each coin type for yourself to trade later. The key is we provide these options to our miners.

nearmiss and artiz are aware of the profitability challenge and nearmiss did say they were adding a few new coins to the mix in an effort to boost returns, but with alt-currency prices as low as they are, it is going to be difficult to realize more than .01/MH/s

Part of the sacrifice we make on this pool is the immediate liquidation of each coin as it's mined.  They aren't able to "time" the market and wait for each coin to spike before selling it.  That might be a great strategy, but the logistics of doing so with a pool and the number of complaints about the chosen timing would be legion (one look at this thread will tell you that).

If you're lazy, like me, and let them do the selling, then that's the price you pay for it.
566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 11, 2014, 08:35:37 PM
Where are you getting your info from?  Coinwarz show SBC more profitable than LTC.

Same place, during the period we were mining.
Sbc was at the top of the list before Hashcows started mining.  Once a multi-pool starts mining a coin, the difficulty increases, sometimes by 2 or 3 times.  The profitability is measured at the difficulty when the mining begins.

What you saw was the resultant profitability once Hashcows (and others) start mining.  Happens every time we mine a new coin.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 11, 2014, 01:14:34 PM
How much can I mine with 1400kh/s on this pool? Is it around 0.025-0.03 BTC each day?
no

How much can i mine with that hashrate?
With prices these days, probably not more than .015-.012.

Check this Coinwarz page with 1400 entered (same as me).  The most profitable coins are only running ~$15.00-20.00/day (current profitability assumed for the whole day), so generating .025-.03 would probably take twice the hashing power.

http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/?sha256HashRate=1400.00&sha256Power=500.00&sha256PowerCost=0.1300&scryptHashRate=1400.00&scryptPower=500.00&scryptPowerCost=0.1300&sha256Check=true&scryptCheck=true

We are wholly dependent upon the exchange-rate for the alt-currencies we mine.  However, it is possible that you could make considerably more if you were to hold all of the currencies until the prices rise--assuming they do.  You have that option in the user section, to specify which coins you wish to keep and which you wish to auto-exchange.

We aren't fixing a problem, we rebuilt a brand new site from scratch, over the holidays, while trying to spend time with family.  I guess it is what it is at this point.  As it happens, coin modifications released tonight, and another dev has in fact been added to the team.

--my emphasis--

Great news, nearmiss!!!  Keep up the good work and don't mind the grousers.

Thanks for the update.

Yes, Catwold.. you love Hashcows, we get it.

So, back to the world of reality.  My 3.5-4.0 Mh/s just got me 0.02554136 BTC.  Which is actually LESS then if I just mined LTC.  Wow...
It's not so much that I "love Hashcows," as I loathe petty, self-centered, immature, entitled little children who can't keep a civil tongue in their heads and think they're so special that the world and all of it's physical laws should be bent to their sole satisfaction . . . you know, people like you.

See, the difference between you and me is that I understand that I came here of my own volition, I chose to mine on Hashcows, and if I feel that I am not getting my electricity's worth from mining on Hashcows, I can and will move my miners elsewhere . . . and I will do it without whining like a little girl.  If I encounter a problem, instead of coming here to the Hashcow thread and whining about it, I will contact support.

Believe me, if I think I'm not getting what I should, I'll be gone in a flash . . . but I won't cry like a 5-year old about it.

Artiz and nearmiss are working as hard and fast as they can to solve the various problems resulting from Hashcows having been hacked.

"Feedback" is fine.  We need feedback, as it is the only means of determining whether or not the service offered is wording as desired.  If some function of this website isn't working, then by all means say something, but leave off the whining button.

What we don't need is repeated complaining by people who have never bothered to make an effort to inform themselves by
1.  reading the FAQ
2.  reading the statements on the Hashcow website highlighted in red
3.  reading back several pages for someone having previously asked the same question.

This is what adults do.  They seek an answer on their own before they start asking questions.

If after having done those three things, you still don't have your answer, then ask it and it will be answered (usually quite politely and thoroughly).

Remember, participation in the Hashcow pool is totally voluntary.  Joining up to mine is optional.  You don't have to do it.  That said, given the problems that persist with the site, your decision to continue mining at Hashcows in spite of those problems, places the onus upon your shoulders.

Most of the problems people are experiencing have been thoroughly aired out here (some would say too thoroughly) and are readily apparent for any seeking to inform himself.  So it you have chosen to accept those caveats and mine here anyway, then that's your responsibility.

Please be mature enough to exercise some patience and understanding.  One or both primaries post on this thread every single day, so it's not as if there are no updates for us to read.

Really?  Tell me exactly what topic were you so deeply involved in that my post disrupted your train of thought?  What conversation held you so rapt that my interjection caused you discomfort, the whining, the defending, or the general bitching?

What the hell does this have to do with hashcows??
You do understand that most people get their payouts in bitcoins, don't you?  Whatever's good for bitcoin is ultimately good for miners and Hashcows.

If you're not interested, then don't follow the link.  I though most here would be.

Don't know if any other government has done this, but Singapore has demonstrated surprising openness to Bitcoin trading.

Singapore clarifies tax on Bitcoin exchanges and sales

This is very good news for bitcoin.

"I'm losing money, it simply isn't commercial for me, so I want X to happen." - Fuck off you selfish piece of shit.
Sorry to disappoint you, but anyone who has more than a few graphic cards is, in the end, doing this for money. Same goes for the pool and its operators. So you should wake up from your dream.

No, you wake up to yourself. No one is demanding you point your miners at this pool, you choose to do so.

Be an adult, live with the choices you make or choose alternatives.

So You practically advise us to hand over money, do I get it right? Otherwise we are just selfish pieces of shit? Very nice of You, really.. I was defending HashCows all the time since hack, but after 2 weeks there is still nothing new. Site doesnīt work as it have to, my withdraw is pending 5+ hours and yesterdays payout was close to 1/3 what I can get by mining litecoin. I donīt complain, just pointing things as they are.

If the site isn't finished then don't go online. I'm out of here.

Ain't nobody holding you here.

If you ingrates are so compelled to whine because you're not making enough money, then you need to start spending the time necessary to prioritize your own mining effort.  Go to Coinwarz and CoinChoose and wherever else you choose, spend the time and effort to balance value, difficulty, stales, orphans, and all the other variables, then mine the coins yourselves, but no, just like me and all the rest of those who have signed up for this pool, you're too lazy to do all of that work yourself, you prefer to have the pool operators do it.

Fine, nothing wrong with that.  As I said, that's what everyone else on this pool is doing.  What they are not doing is WHINING ABOUT SHIT.

If you want to rely on others to do your work for you, then stop bellyaching when it doesn't meet your schedule.

WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR OR READ IT.

If you have a legitimate problem, everyone hear will hurdle mountains to help you with it, but neither we, nor the operators, are here to hold your whiny, bellyaching hands.  Grow up, act like an adult.  Take responsibility for your decisions . . . and STFU.

"Login" isn't working for me currently.  I've tried with IE, Firefox, and Chrome and its a no go so far.  Is this normal for now or should I be able to log in?  Also, the menu on your mobile site isn't opening when pressed so you can't navigate away from the home page.  Not a pressing issue obviously, just thought I'd let you know.
You on the correct URL?   www.hashco.ws

You should be able to log into your old account--assuming you have one Smiley if not, create one.

If you're at the correct URL and still can't log in, then yes, you have a problem and need to submit a ticket.

Crazy question:

Owners, when you trade my coins on the exchanges, lets say 1 BTC worth of SBC, how do I know that you aren't pocketing half?  Trust?

I realize we opt in for auto trade, but a paper trail seems necessary.

You could pay me half of what my shares were worth, and just say the prices dipped when you decided to trade.

So, go to the options page and tell 'em not to trade your mined coins for BTC.  (That option isn't available right now because of the reworking of the entire site.)

There is nothing requiring you to have them sell all your coins.  you can have the directly deposited to your wallet.
