Last thing I heard gambling houses are illegal pretty much everywhere in the US

Harmful ? NO

Illegal?  YES

so giving a 'line of credit' to them is also illegal... Harmful NO
562  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 16, 2012, 04:57:35 PM
I am taking orders for ASICMINER shares.
Price starting at 0.1 BTC but can be discussed depending on volume Smiley
No minimum volume and instant transfer after the transaction has been received.
Pm me Wink
//DeaDTerra

Price can be discussed depending on volume ? Below the IPO price of 0.1 Huh

How does that work  Shocked
563  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Project will be making a major announcement in September on: August 16, 2012, 02:09:13 PM
NO block reward halving in December and a change of the maximum amount of Bitcoin to 20 Billion

Just like a real central authority would do, Bitcoin's entrance in the real world  Grin

All that would do is remove the developers from being Bitcoin developers. I realize you're probably joking but any newbies reading this thread should know that the developers don't have that kind of unilateral power over the network; miners and full nodes would have to update/migrate their software to accept this change.

It was indeed a JOKE

Whatever it is that The Bitcoin Developers will announce it will no doubt bring us one step closer to getting Bitcoin out of the Beta stage !

Can't wait for the day Bitcoin 1.0 is launched Smiley

566  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 15, 2012, 01:21:21 PM
Indeed,

It says initially 30.000 are for public sale, the ratio might be adjusted

I can understand if you want to keep it at 30.000, but then I suggest you lower the threshold for private sales

What will happen if not enough funds are raised when private sales are insufficient, yet many people want to buy smaller lots of stock, and are now even willing to pay over the 0.1 initial pricing Huh

Thanks. The 5,000 and 10,000 thresholds are for becoming board members and have more extra shares. There are practically no threshold for bulk purchase. However I would prefer larger numbers, say, >500 shares, to reduce our manual work of the GLBSE transferring system.

Ah, I assumed private sales were 5000+ shares

Thanks for clearing that up
567  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: August 15, 2012, 01:20:21 PM
While I agree that 7% wasn't sustainable, giving his larger passthru's the option of more interest for only withdrawing once a week would give him stability, and let people keep their higher return.  It looks like his problem was stability, if bitcoinmax can offer that, why not keep it at the current rate?  Deposits at bitcoinmax would skyrocket.

Not nessecariy... I prefer the ability to get at my coins.  Iwoulld almost certainly withdraw if that change were made.

I can see this as well.  What if the price of coins fell through the floor, etc?  So, I guess I would say that "some" would want that for the interest/greed position.  Others would want more liquidity, such as you suggest.  I'm on the fence, but 4.9% is pretty good too.

Who knows, maybe pirate wants to scale down his operation as well

This way he doesn't have to force people to withdraw as he did in the past, but instead let nature take it's course
568  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 15, 2012, 01:17:44 PM
I feel a bit cheated buying shares above IPO price when the IPO isn't done yet. If I would have known there would be more shares coming I would rather have waited.

I am sorry but the number of 30,000 for public sale and 170,000 for private bulk sale was written in the thread at the time this IPO has started. And also, as I said in the reply above, no shares will be put as ask walls by ourselves.

Our posts crossed and I never review newer posts before pressing enter Wink

IPO The GLBSE ticker is ASICMINER. 200,000 shares are issued. Initially,
30,000 are for public sale. 170,000 are for private bulk purchase via PMs and the
asset transfer system of GLBSE. The ratio may be adjusted but the total number is
always 200,000.

I would also appreciate it if there would be another 30k shares on GLbSE Smiley
I read about this yesterday, but in the evening every share was gone (or reselled for BTC.25  Undecided)
But I want to support this project and buy from you directly..

Really want 100 shares Cheesy

570  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 15, 2012, 11:58:29 AM
As not all the shares allocated for private sales have sold yet but the 30.000 shares on GLBSE sold out within 4 days wouldn't it make more sense to try and sell part of those shares allocated for private sales on GLBSE ?

Keep it totally transparent so people know exactly how many shares are up for grabs (private and GLBSE)

That will also keep arbitrage in this 'pre-ipo' at a minimum
571  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: August 15, 2012, 11:49:35 AM
Or just be happy with the 5% a WEEK that is on offer.....

7% was never sustainable.... 5% isn't either, so be prepared for lower rates in the future
572  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter: Dedicated Mining ASIC Project (Open for Discussion) on: August 14, 2012, 09:20:22 PM

This is a tempting investment.

Though, it's unsettling to know that after share principle repayment 50% of return goes to a small group of individuals that is Bitfountain.

Conservatively, IMO, Bitfountain's take might be $40,000+ for the first month after funding repayment.  Definitely a sweet deal for Bitfountain.

Bitfountain will always own a minimum of 50% of their self-run hashing capacity.  Makes me nervous the same way Vladimir's plans did.

Wait, sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you mean that Bitfountain is going to be a mining company only, that is to say, that they will not be offering the "Block Erutper" ASIC for sale?

They are planning to mine themselves with 20 TH, then when the investment is paid off sell the ASIC while expanding their own mining operation to 50 TH

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong
573  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: August 14, 2012, 04:47:20 PM
With the new pirate rates going into effect next week Aug 20, will the interest BitcoinMax pays out be lowered to 4.9% ?

Thanks

574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japanese getting into Bitcoin? on: August 14, 2012, 04:03:29 PM
Perhaps this is the reason? https://mtgox.com/press_release_20120815.html

According to MtGox, a few banks automatically convert the wires they send to Japan to JPY, even though the wire was not denominated in JPY.

This is not related. The JPY conversion is a stupid fuckup on the part of the intermediate bank, because they convert USD --> JPY and then JPY --> USD instead of going USD --> USD.

It's a well thought-through fuck-up as they charge money for the conversions  Wink

Looking forward to some competition.
Have you considered accepting payment in bitcoin? Or have you not gotten to the business model yet?

They are raising money to start production through GLBSE and private share placements

576  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 14, 2012, 01:01:40 PM
Thanks for your questions.

I assume the monthly return rate takes into account the increased difficulty ?
It's already taken into account. We provided the return rate based on a set of possible total network hashrates (therefore difficulties).
You could decide yourself which of them is most possible per month.

An additional question: Why does the company not want to or sees it feasible to expand beyond 50TH/s for their own mining farm ?

Is that an 'effort' / location constraint ?

Thanks
It may be feasible, but there are some more facts to consider:

1. When we begin to sell products to customers, limitlessly expansion will harm the buyers' motivation, hence the revenue via selling.
2. If may be better to keep the revenue for R&D of the next-generation of products than expand too much with the original technology, especially that we want to stay in the mining ASIC industry and help securing the network in the long run.

Thanks for these answers !

One more question: How is the private sale coming along ? The sale on GLBSE is doing very well imo
Will you be able to raise the needed capital before the end of August the way the share sale is going so far ?

Once your wallet is finally set up and running, will it earn any bitcoins for you keeping it running or is it just solely to keep yours in and support 'the system'?

Do they normally take hours and hours to catch up?  If it is seeking data then why can't this data be put all in a file somewhere and just lump loaded to it?

Thankyou
Aaron

You could use an online wallet like Electrum, no need to download the blockchain, so you will be able to use your Bitcoin wallet much faster

Today's daily coupon has been paid @ 1% of IPO price.

Thank you.

Note: Rumor has it that tens of thousands of bonds may sell tomorrow. If new bond purchases exceed the number of current outstanding bonds, expect the daily payout to stay at the current minimum of 0.5% of the IPO price for much of the week. It takes time to convert the BTC and put it to work. Thank you.

Lol.... Rumor has it ? ;-)
