561  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What to do if you lose $2,000 in trading? on: February 20, 2018, 08:11:04 PM
So if I lose $5,000 I should just ignore everything you said?

In any case, trading losses are only a true loss when actualized by converting to fiat. If you never convert, you never lose.

563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if this guy with 96,651 BTC suddenly cashes out? on: February 19, 2018, 07:44:30 PM
Firstly, many of the wallets which have significant amounts of bitcoins are actually lost, so its unlikely they cash out at once.

Secondly, when huge bitcoin sales do take place, they do not typically occur via an exchange, and thus do not affect the market price.

Furthermore, selling the entirety of his holdings at once would be very difficult unless it was to an institutional investor, and they would be likely to take quite a hit on the rate, probably -20% or more at that volume.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Dying as a Payment Option? on: February 19, 2018, 07:41:43 PM
I would suggest quite the opposite, bitcoin is improving as a viable payment option. You may have noticed that fees have fallen sharply since their peak a couple of months ago, this was one of the major issues surrounding bitcoin, as the fees were sometimes higher than the actual payment (when the payment was very small). Now that fees are just a fraction of a dollar, bitcoin is much more of a competitor to visa than it once was.
565  Economy / Speculation / Re: What caused Bitcoin goes down very hard recently? on: February 18, 2018, 03:28:24 PM
It is simple, there was a series of negative news articles surrounding bitcoin, many of which were worded in such a way as to scare monger. First of all the news articles said China was BANNING bitcoin, then this was clarified that there was no ban, but that it would be regulated. Then there was news of it being BANNED in India, and then of course we find it isn't banned.

When you see a few negative articles such as these, it is best to cash out whilst the market takes a dip, then buy back in when it is recovering.
566  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: The btc generator scam or legit?? on: February 18, 2018, 03:26:17 PM
Interesting way to spread your referral link for this faucet. I can only imagine how poor you must be to have to resort to manually claiming faucets.

Rule number 1: Faucets only benefit those who own it
Rule number 2: You may be able to earn a decent amount if the faucet is large enough, and you have a LOT of referrals
Rule number 3: I doubt you have either

Man up and learn to trade like everyone else, then you'll earn real coin.
567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is Big in Japan on: February 18, 2018, 03:23:47 PM
In my experience, Japanese culture has always been one of the more accepting cultures in terms of technological adoption and changes in public perception. I think it is the liberal spirit of the country that allows cryptocurrency to thrive without interruption by the government, as the country seems to be genuinely striving towards improving its societal architecture, even if that means power shifting technologies must be embraced.

569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GRAM: the beast of all ICOs on: February 17, 2018, 09:06:09 PM
I really don't think that this ICO is a wise investment, this token will have a market cap over $1b to start, I don't believe Telegram itself has a market valuation of $1 billion. Plus, who even uses Telegram for money transfers when Bitcoin already exists and is probably used by those people already.
570  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here comes the CHINESE NEW YEAR! on: February 17, 2018, 08:53:16 PM
I always see people claiming that following Chinese new year there is a surge in bitcoin price. Why is that exactly? Do people think that just because its Chinese new year that people don't have time to trade or invest? Or that people suddenly have more money to invest. I see that in the past BTC tends to increase in value around February, but see no reason why it should be attributed to Chinese new year.
571  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC rich 14K$ till this Sunday? on: February 17, 2018, 08:45:32 PM
It is highly unlikely for Bitcoin to increase by another 30% by Sunday, that's just one day away. I don't think I've seen Bitcoin jump 30% in one day... Ever.

It is true that Bitcoin has probably found new support now that it has re-crossed $10,000 but to hope for $14,000 by Sunday is just wildly optimistic.

$11,100 is likely, and $11,500 is within the realm of possibility. Beyond that would be a shock.
572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold $30,000/ounce, Silver $1000/ounce, Bitcoin $100,000 on: February 17, 2018, 02:52:15 PM
I don't know which country you live in, but neither Gold or Silver are anywhere near $30,000 and $1000/ounce respectively. Currently 22ct gold is around $1400/ounce and $16/ounce for silver. Let me know what country you from as there is clearly an arbitrage opportunity I'm missing out on! Or more likely, you're language skills are sub par.
573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Bitcoin rises UNMASKED on: February 17, 2018, 02:46:45 PM
It is highly unlikely that this volume of coins were bought by an individual man, this is almost certainly an institutional investor, or hedge fund that is looking to involve themselves in the cryptosphere. That, or it is simply an exchange or casino moving funds around.
574  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Hit $20K in few weeks time? on: February 17, 2018, 02:35:46 PM
If you look back at previous years, bitcoin has always dropped in value around January, and recovered to its previous position around February or March. If we take the previous position at $20,000 then we will see BTC reaches $20,000 by the end of March, possibly earlier. After that, Bitcoin will break its previous peak and attain a new height, I see $50,000 as a realistic goal for Q4 2018.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost over 80k because i sold to early (newbie mistake) on: February 16, 2018, 02:25:26 PM
How can you say you lost $80,000 when you didn't have any Zclassic when the price spiked? You didn't lose anything.

That's like saying you lost $50,000,000 because you didn't buy a lottery ticket that might have won.

In any case, there are plenty of other moonshot opportunities, just invest $500 each into the top 10 promising candidates, you only need one to succeed to recoup your investment and more.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why I'm not believing in bitcoin anymore on: February 16, 2018, 02:15:00 PM
To address two of your major points, fees and adoption.

We have known that Bitcoin has a limited number of transactions it can handle per second, which is why there have been numerous forks claiming to solve the issue, and even the segwit soft fork to pave the way for the second layer solutions. Bitcoin is still evolving, it will hit a wall every now and then, and it will be overcome. The fees have massively dropped due to segwit adoption, and LN development is underway and being tested as we speak.

Worldwide adoption: Well bitcoin is a new currency, do you really expect worldwide adoption within less than a decade? Be realistic.

Taxes: Do you really expect worldwide adoption, no bans, and evasion of taxes? What government will stand by and allow that? People complain about taxes, but believe me you don't want to live in a world where community services are not provided as there is no tax system.
577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Ultra vs Litecoin on: February 15, 2018, 10:33:30 AM

Hi All,

I am currently looking at the huge pricejump in LTC because of the (potential) upcoming Fork
Woow.
I also have some LTCU (Litecoin Ultra) in my portfolio. This coin is currently very low and seems to be breaking!
It as such a low market cap. Only 100 k! or 11 BTC
It trades on Cryptopia!

What do you think?

Have a look!
Cheers!

Forked coins tend to do quite well in the early days, and then drop off quite suddenly when people realize they're just a pump and dump. Litecoin ultra looks to be similar, probably best to get in early, then get out quick.
578  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin finally hit 20K on: February 15, 2018, 10:32:06 AM
I think it is extraordinarily unlikely that Bitcoin will hit $20,000 this month unless there are some serious developments, or if BTC adoption suddenly spikes for no discernible reason. However, $15,000 is certainly within the realm of possibility this month, and $50,000 by the end of the year is certainly within realistic thresholds. I also expect that Ethereum might break $3,000 and LTC over $700 by year end.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin exchanges to introduce KYC and AML guidelines on: February 15, 2018, 10:27:36 AM
I really don't see the problem in introducing anti-money laundering regulations and requiring ID checks etc. I don't see why Bitcoin should be treated any differently from traditional currencies, there should be some regulations to prevent money laundering. If you're not doing anything illegal I don't see why KYC would be a problem. Either way, Bitcoin will still be free of control by the banks, and free of inflation.
580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin back to its own rhythm again? on: February 15, 2018, 10:14:54 AM
It's the same old story with Bitcoin.

1. A series of unfortunately news events are published, e.g. Bans, regulations or hacks
2. Bitcoin drops 10-40% in value as the weak hands sell
3. No negative news for a few days/weeks, bitcoin slowly returns to its previous high
4. Positive news and/or surge in adoption occurs
5. Bitcoin breaks its previous high

Then steps 1-5 repeat.
