581  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Unofficial "High MHash"/"Best Settings" GPU Comparision Thread on: April 27, 2012, 09:44:30 PM
I have 13 diamond 5970's from newegg

linuxcoin final
cgminer 2.0.7
engine 800 mem 300 stock voltage 1.05
700 mh/s
stock cooler with replaced TIM(shin-etsu) and phobya thermal pads

2 on water with EK blocks in windows
830/300 stock voltage
750 mh/s
cgminer 2.3.2

8 5870's from ben's outlet

6 on air with linuxcoin as above
900/300 1.125v
400 mh/s

2 on water
900/300 - so far they won't go higher even though their temps are like 35c these cards are solid, but won't go past 900 and won't undervolt either
400 mh/s

Temps? (If you want to make it easy, you can use the template in the OP)

2x on water.

Card Manufacturer: AMD
Card Model Number: 7970
Card OEM: Diamond
MHash per Second: 729
Core Clock: 1225
Memory Clock: 625
Average Operating Temperature: 56C
Ambient Temperature: Unknown, between 80-90F
Fan Speed: N/A watercooled
Host OS: Windows 7 x64
Driver Version: 12.3
Mining Program: Diablominer
Command Line Flags/GUIminer Settings: -v1 -w256
(Optional) Watts Drawn While Mining: 238W
(Optional) Other Information: Watts Drawn is measured from no-card idle load system

Updated. Those are some impressive numbers.

I agree, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, I doubt there is any consensus on what a "typically obtainable" core overclock is, and I do not personally know enough to determine one, so I decided to leave it to the judgement of the submitter. If there is a resource I could use to obtain "reasonable overclocks", though, please share it; I would be glad to change the guidelines as such.

Perhaps a mean with a variance would be more helpful here.

A mean of what data set? The wiki?

BITBOND has now exceeded 10000 BTC is trading volume. The first GLBSE asset to do so.

Does this mean I'll get a cake from Nefario?  Grin

I would prefer a medal if I were you. It lasts longer than a cake. Grin

But you can't eat a metal...

585  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: "Drop-in" miner for Mac OS X (10.6 and 10.7)? on: April 25, 2012, 02:55:34 PM
Are you okay with command line/shell/terminal (I don't know what you Mac people call it) miners?

Perfectly fine.

Phoenix should run fine, though you'll need to install Python. If that doesn't appeal, there's a packaged Mac frontend for DiabloMiner here, though it's somewhat out of date.

Hey Smiley

i am somewhat interested in getting an account. Just one question.. If its a shared IP and we get 11 ports each, does that mean that port 80/443 etc etc is already in use ? So I couldn't use this as a web server running on port 80 ?

thanks

That is correct; you cannot use port 80/443. You can run a web server on a different port, though.
587  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: April 25, 2012, 02:44:39 PM
71.x.x.x is still locked out. Sad

I very much doubt they're doing this in IP numerical order. Wink
588  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Post Your Mining Rig Efficiency on: April 25, 2012, 05:24:00 AM
Switched out the 5870 I had in my best rig since it couldn't do below 0.95V and I wanted to test even lower.

6xSapphire 5850 Xtreme@0,906V 620-650Mhz
HX850 80+ silver
1550MH/S, 464W at the wall, 3,34MH/W

This is where it becomes less profitable for me to undervolt, but damn are these cards cool. Running them with fans on auto (30-35% fan speed) and they wont go above 60C with a room temp of 25C  Cool

Why didn't I buy a 100 of these cards rather than 10 back in may last year  Cry

A question we all ask ourselves. Wink
589  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE prediction market launched on: April 24, 2012, 03:05:27 PM
Subbed, this looks like an excellent development.

I think GLBSE should build its own and not rely on Inkling

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77265.msg866035#msg866035
From what I have read in your posts, I agree. It wouldn’t even be difficult to implement on GLBSE directly, as it could just be made another type of asset.

I just looked at the prediction market for 5 minutes last night, no deep analysis by any means. Upon reading your posts, I concur. Lacking the ability to adapt to liquidity is a major weakness. On the other hand, I understand that Nefario has limited time and resources. Do any programs exist that do implement such features?

I wanted to turn my domain MiningFarm.com .info .mobi into a full fledge PC and mobile game but I'm not the creative type so when i came time to program nothing came out. Maybe we can join forces you sound like you have alot of great ideas as far as gameplay and the overall game.. What were you going to build this off of? Is this a text, 2d or 3d based game? Do you need a programmer? How do you plan on monetizing off this idea? Feel free to PM me for details you'd rather keep discreet.
cheers mate!

With all due respect, please reread the OP. This is no traditional video game.

Nachtwind, I'm interested to see what you do with this. Hopefully you'll have less obstructions than last time.

I think Nefario feels lacking in post count...

I usually come back to see the comment riddled with Bitcion hate (not from the OP, but other commenters). Sigh.

First they laugh, then they hate, then you win or how did it go?

Confusion. If someone else had the domain, how did you register it using register.dot-bit.org?
595  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - TOS Discussion Thread. on: April 23, 2012, 03:21:33 PM
Particularly relating to drugs and prostitution various governments around the world tend to work together to take action against high profile targets. Often the only purpose of this is for good news coverage for the governments involved (the recent action against the farmers market operating from the Tor network as an excellent example).

I believe that there is no better method of getting GLBSE shut down and it's operators jailed (i.e. me)  than to allow "vice" assets to be listed or traded. I believe this represents an incredible risk to GLBSE.

I believe in the free market, I also believe that participants in the market may do so on their own terms.

I don't think choosing a jurisdiction to operate under is the correct choice for now, I think that should be done only when it has to (or when GLBSE can afford to).

I also don't think that GLBSE should spell out what is and is not allowed, because as has been mentioned by ColdHardMetal this will leave loopholes that we will forever be plastering over.

I think the suggestion by Blitz, that new assets can be created and listed on GLBSE, subject to our approval is a good one and is the option that I would put forward. It would also mean that we don't have to specifically spell out what we will or won't approve.

I would like to see added to this that any currently listed assets would also be subject to this, this would prevent an existing asset being bought out or used as a method to get around our requirements. (opinions on this point welcome)

From a practical perspective this would mean that the shortest time an asset could launch would be three days, giving plenty of time to have a look at any new proposals.

Regarding the legality of prostitution and drugs, it's a very touchy subject. GLBSE is not the SilkRoad (which has remained entirely anonymous). With the exception of tobacco and alcohol (both heavily regulated almost everywhere) almost every jurisdiction on the planet has banned drugs (a few allow cannabis).

Prostitution is legal in some parts of Germany, Austrailia and a few mother places, many other places (such as Thailand) have laws against prostitution (i.e. it's illegal) which are almost never enforced.

Rather than trying to figure out how to walk such a tightrope as others throw things at you (you can be sure, despite the legality of any of these sorts of activities based on jurisdiction, the main stream media would have a field day), I think we should just avoid it altogether.

It's a far too dangerous and messy area that I would like to see GLBSE avoid.

I think this is reasonable. Far better for GLBSE to stay out of the dangerous limelight by enforcing some basic regulations. If GLBSE got slammed with the kind of media backlash Silk Road has, I doubt it would survive, or survive in a way that was useful to the network. I doubt many projects affiliated with blatantly and widely illegal "products" would use a non-anonymous exchange in any case.

The way I see it, banning drug and prostitution-related enterprises will greatly help in keeping GLBSE out of the negative media spotlight and make it much less likely to be a target for law enforcement. The few people it would hinder shouldn't be using a public exchange anyways.

Just put my buy order for 1000 shares at 1 BTC each!
Oh boy, I can't believe I can be an early adopter!

Egads, getting competitive quickly. I'd better liquidate all my assets and put them all into this. Just like the Titanic, it's unsinkable!
597  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BFLS - Bitcoin Mining & Sales on: April 23, 2012, 02:54:59 PM
Do I understand it right that I hardly can buy the BFLS.FUTURES on the market as I don't know from whom I do buy them and where he was on the list.
Do you still offer the futures for 0.7 for the minirig? How does it work? If I ask for let say 20 - you put ask order of 20@0.7 to let me buy in or how?

It was posted about a week ago that the order would be placed soon.  Maybe you missed the boat.  Right now there is over 200 immediately available on glbse.

I was just thinking that if few more people joined in Inaba could be able to buy 2 minirigs instead of 1 minirig + some BFLS - that's why I was willing to buy directly from him.
Second point is - I see there are some on the market - I just don't understand how Inaba keeps the list of owners if I am not buying directly from him. If I buy them on the market he can hardly check that I really bought them (if it isn't from him) and the guy I buy them from will stay on the list - so maybe he can buy again in month or so again for 0.7 again and still have that place on the list which I would have bought from him. Or I can claim that I bought them from someone (as Inaba can't check it) and get on the list but buy them really only in the next wave but get those BFLS shares earlier.
Don't get me wrong - I don't want to create any mess I just want to know better how it works before I buy in.

As long as Inaba hasn't placed the order yet, I'm sure you'd be able to obtain some fresh shares - PM him.
598  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) on: April 22, 2012, 11:01:31 PM
Keep in mind 1 million bitcoins is 4.7% of all bitcoins ever to be mined. Yes, I understand you wont hold these all at once but its still just a massive percent of the whole economy.

Just for comparision, 4.7% of all USD in existence is ~2 trillion dollars. Apple's market cap is just about 600 billion.

Uh, no. All USD in existence is measured in the quadrillions. Our annual Federal budget is more than 2 trillion. The war in Iraq cost more than 2 trillion.

The difference here is, Wall Street valuation is not based on reality, and USD is inflationary. Your comparison is rather pointless.

Meaningless in the number, yes. Meaningless in the point, not so much.

Potential investors and I are just not seeing eye to eye on this, and its a waste of time and money to try to continue. I want to make sure no one can get a stranglehold on the Bitcoin economy, but no one really seems to either think that can happen (stealth privately owned mining companies, etc), or they don't see its worth plunking the money down as a sort of insurance.

I think it's possible for a big, long-term mining operation like this to get funding and succeed, but this isn't a good way to issue shares. You should partner with someone who knows more about finance/business.

I concur with theymos. Your idea is perfectly valid, and I think interest does exist, but to launch a venture on this scale is a whole different ballgame with whole different rules in comparison to the GLBSE-funded companies in existence.
599  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitbond 20Gh/s - the only 110% PPS mining bond on: April 22, 2012, 05:57:38 AM
Updates

* Payout 3 was made today for all existing investors

* The remaining 4,000 bonds will go on sale tomorrow for 0.6 btc.

* 110% PPS will continue again for the next week

I guess "tomorrow" as in "less than an hour from this post", assuming you put that sell order up.
