As for the general topic of discrediting bitcoin, bitcoiners do that pretty well by themselves. If everyone here talked like Yifu Guo, we'd probably already be there by now. Instead, they all talk like dank.

Heh, true.

Sup with you around here Matthew? Preparing for the next "big thing"? Don't know why I had you on ignore.

585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I made a giant, overpriced mining rig on: March 27, 2013, 04:39:32 PM
cooling solution is a colocation facility.

66F to 68F 24/7.

What you're paying for the colo?

..
My rigs are a cluster of 4 nodes each and one embedded *BSD licensed controller of my own design.  Each one has 8 8 core cpus, 512GB of RAM and 12 GPU cards with logging and storage done in an encrypted VIA Mini ITX controlling a storage array (so an error won't crash the system by filling up system disks).  The other rig is exactly the same, located in a different location with the same colo company and has hot failover capability with the other machine using something Linux HA heartbeat.  So if one rig fails it takes over the tasks of the other rig as its virtual instances switch tasks (why I needed so much RAM).
...

You better put those "beasts" at work and minimize the losses, here http://www.openstack.org/software/, or just mine some litecoins at the same time http://litecoin.org

If I were in your shoes, I would be more than pissed with the whole thing.

Thank you very much!!!  I'll look into it.

Actually Tradehill guys plan for a comeback, so you will probably recover your coins.

588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upgrade bitcoin.org on: March 27, 2013, 03:06:19 AM
I have a few questions, who is responsible for merging pull requests? Why is this one still pending?

Because this pull request is.. 4 days old.

I asked on this pull request why the PGP key was removed in the first place. I think it's a good question to answer before everything.

There is no "one master". Any change that is controversial or non-trivial must get at least one ACK from developers. Sometime more depending on the importance of the change.

Ok, got it.

It's quite odd that Satoshi's pgp key was removed in the first place, and now I see someone makes a pull request to add it back, key is ok I checked, and it stays there for days without being merged. Satoshi's key was never placed on bitcoin.org, didn't know that and sorry for the trouble.

Nice offer. Btw, you actually bought 4 units?

I only had funds for 1 unit.  And Walletbit confused me a lot.  So 3 of the purchases were not real, and were cancelled.  I didn't expect my shopping cart to be public information, how did you find out?

Ah ok, never mind. Is all public info on the blockchain.

595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org / weusecoins.com - Call for translations ! on: March 26, 2013, 08:43:16 PM
Who are you blockgenesis? Not much info on your intro post...

I'm new to the community. My fullname is Saïvann Carignan. I'm also a recent member of the foundation. And I am the one who did the multilanguage version of weusecoins and the new bitcoin.org website with the help and feedback from the community and developers. I am a french Canadian.

Nice to meet you Saïvann, I'm Alex.

Will see what I can do to have this done in no time, in various languages.

Edit: Bitcoiners from the Rugatu community are already working on it...

596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org / weusecoins.com - Call for translations ! on: March 26, 2013, 08:31:35 PM
Thanks, will start working on the Spanish translation. Btw, an easier way to translate like having single language files would be great.

Sure. That sounds great.

However, I didn't find a way to make this approach concretely work with something with as much long texts like a website, without being problematic in some cases. A single language is usually used for small dialogs in unified application with "english" fallback. I don't think that makes sense in our case to work this way because each translation must be "structure independant".

- English version might have pages other sections don't have (news, version history).
- We might need special styles or content adaptation for some languages.
- We should be able to create new pages, and translate them later without this page appearing in english in all translated version. This would give a very poor user experience.
- Outdated translation should not prevents us to update other languages.

There are also a few things that might work poorly with this approach or just be impossible / very hard to do with jekyll, like translating filenames (urls) and keeping links between translated pages, and generating a structured sitemap with alternate hreflang as we do now.

But if someone comes up with something better that is both easier for translator while being still functionnal for integration and collaboration, feel free to work on it and make a pull request so that it can be discussed!

Ok, have to agree.

Hi I'm..

Wait, 450 pages, will anybody read this?

No matter, I'm a Bitcoin enthusiast since a few months. With a moderate technical knowledge. And I must say that.. Bitcoin Rocks!
