In less than 1 year, the Ice project has achieved unprecedented growth, with more than 3.5 million users actively using the network.

The number may be accurate or not, but that 3.5 million "users" are just trying to farm the airdrop, so calling it "users"(while technically true) may be quite misleading, don't you think? That number won't even reach 6 digits if it weren't for the airdrop.
582  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New macOS backdoor stealing crypto wallets (Bitcoin Core and Exodus) on: January 24, 2024, 09:13:48 AM
It's just weird that they seems to be fixated on Bitcoin Core and Exodus? Or it is just easy for them to write the code and look for this wallet?
My assumption is that noobs tend to use convenient one-for-all wallets like Exodus. I'm not sure if Exodus can even natively connect to Ethereum/EVM DeFi protocols.

verything has to start from something, and for those newly user of macOS, this doesn't look good. If I'm not mistaken, softwares for macOS are very expensive and probably this is the reason from this authors to write malwares that targeted macOS users now and then gamble that someone can fall for their trick and steal our hard earn cryptocurrencies in our online wallet.
Malware doesn't look good for MacOS users just as how it doesn't look good for Windows/Linux/Android/iOS users.

No operating system is 100% safe anyway, not even the security and privacy-focused Linux operating systems. Downloaded and installed malicious software? There will always be a chance that your device will be infected, regardless of how much safeguards your OS has.
584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin devs can undo 21M supply cap but can’t force changes on: January 24, 2024, 06:25:30 AM
I'm sure this comes as a huge relief for all of you guys.

I mean — not really, because this really isn't anything new to start with. Bitcoin's supply cap is one of Bitcoin's main selling points, so it's very unlikely for the community in general(not just the miners) to support such a huge fundamental change.
585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaurd yourself this year against crypto scams on: January 24, 2024, 12:59:20 AM
👉 track their anonymously: so far I've noticed that most scams don't project any team members to the public and if they do they are mostly fake and this way could be very effective than reading a whole whitepaper. Check if the project has any real life representative and follow them up and see if they are posting in line with their big project in hand. Why i feel this is a good idea is because they are still afraid of the government too.

Take note though that having a public leader doesn't mean that they can't end up scamming. In fact, some scams aren't in-your-face; it can come in the form of them claiming their platform getting "hacked" or something similar.

586  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum Wallet on: January 23, 2024, 11:43:09 PM
Are you sure your 'password' is not your wallet's 25th word or "passphrase" as Charles-Tim mentioned? Probably try it out with that setup.

A 'real' password(not to be mixed with passphrase) on Electrum is only there to lock the app on your device so other people can't access it; it doesn't necessarily relate to your wallet backup.
587  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin’s Slide Below $40K Amid FTX Liquidation and ETF Turmoil on: January 23, 2024, 07:26:08 AM
And the price of bitcoin dip further.

The buying sentiment that people have for bitcoin ETF has also been over after it was approved on the 10th of January. It is about buying the rumor and selling the profit now.

Lol that's not true at all, as the data says otherwise. There are still like $200+ million of inflows through other bitcoin ETFs, it's just that it was easily obliterated by the outflows through GBTC (and now with FTX pushing the outflows harder).
588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the best ETH L2 network? on: January 23, 2024, 05:56:10 AM
Define best? Best in terms of what?

If we're talking about ecosystem size though, definitely Arbitrum and Optimism. Polygon should be #1 in terms of ecosystem size, but I don't think it's technically an L2 yet. It's currently more of a pseudo L2.

589  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I think Tradusbit dot com is a scam! on: January 23, 2024, 03:46:20 AM
Man, I don't even need to open the website or dig deeper to know it's a scam.

1. Promoted through Telegram DMs lol  Roll Eyes
2. Guaranteed yield on deposits

Those 2 alone should be enough proof that something is a scam.
590  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin’s Slide Below $40K Amid FTX Liquidation and ETF Turmoil on: January 23, 2024, 03:34:02 AM
Grayscale has been sending huge amounts of bitcoin to Coinbase Prime for like 4 days now; safe to assume the sell pressure has been coming from them as GBTC holders have been dumping their GBTC shares(understandably so because of Grayscale's reputation and high fees).

One thing's for sure, I wish I was quite heavy in cash right now because things should get better after all the sell pressure from them.
591  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Seeking recommendations for decentralized exchanges (DEXs) on: January 23, 2024, 03:22:42 AM
People already recommended crypto<->fiat exchanges, so I'll make my crypto<->crypto recommendations.

Ethereum and EVMs spot swaps: DefiLlama Swap Aggregator
Solana spot swaps: Jupiter Aggregator
PERPs exchange: HyperLiquid, dYdX
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Kaspa actually Bitcoin 2.0? on: January 22, 2024, 05:49:18 PM
PoS is just centralized fake my friend. Ethereum is not real anymore.
PoW is real and PoW only. Bitcoin is slow PoW. And Kaspa is fast PoW. Kaspa is Bitcoin 2.0

You can call PoS centralized or whatever you want go ahead. But let's not act as if Kaspa is the first blockchain to sacrifice decentralization for more speed even with PoW.

You know what's funny? I don't think Kaspa is even trying to go against Bitcoin. Kaspa is a smart contract platform.
593  Economy / Speculation / Re: Self control cannot be neglected as an early investor on: January 22, 2024, 05:16:36 AM
Buying 'wants' isn't really necessarily bad when done from time to time. Just instead of using your investment money into buying 'wants', probably have a small monthly/annual budget allocation for it so you won't need to get the allocation elsewhere.
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Rebound This Week on: January 22, 2024, 03:50:58 AM
I don't have the data, but I assume the selling pressure is going to come from Grayscale once again. They've unloaded a good amount, and we don't have an idea how much more they need to dump because of their holders dumping GBTC.

I wouldn't short though. Just too much uncertainty.
595  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin holder’s are facing a lot from Nigeria Yahoo’s boy’s on: January 21, 2024, 04:24:20 PM
Generally telling people in general that you're into Bitcoin/crypto is bad enough, but it could be far worse when talking with the authorities lol. Make this be a lesson to you because even if you're totally innocent, they can throw random allegations at you if they wanted to.
596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in 2024; What are your opinions? on: January 21, 2024, 04:05:54 PM
People will have better access to bitcoin without needing to create a crypto exchange account(positive for price), but at the same time people will have better access to shorting bitcoin(negative for price). In the end, it pretty much means that it could make bitcoin more efficient price-wise; but it definitely doesn't mean that it'll stop being volatile — because it will very very likely still be.

Here's a sample. You can quote my post to be able to see how it works, and you can probably just edit it for your liking.

Note: Formatting is quite tricky lol I remember getting headaches trying to format the spacings and stuff in the past.
598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Kaspa actually Bitcoin 2.0? on: January 21, 2024, 01:53:08 AM
Look at it, i advice it for everyone. This coin is really fast PoW. That was considred to be impossible. That's why PoS appeared.
And now that we have fast PoW i hope all pos trash dies.

Cryptocurrencies didn't move/use PoS because of speed, they used PoS because their users didn't need to use huge amounts of hardware power, but mostly rather internet bandwidth. A perfect example being Ethereum — it didn't speed up with their switch from PoW to PoS at all.
599  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTO SCAM? on: January 21, 2024, 01:33:13 AM
1. When using centralized exchanges, use the bigger, well-known ones.
2. Do a lot of background searches on social media when using any platform that involves depositing your own hard-earned money.
3. How the heck did you not realize that a website named "bccrypotc-b" isn't a scam?
600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Kaspa actually Bitcoin 2.0? on: January 20, 2024, 06:50:12 PM
Kaspa isn't the only cryptocurrency that has levels of similarities with Bitcoin.

But do you know what these cryptocurrencies don't have? Actual decentralization that could survive a nation-state attack.

Bitcoin's decentralization: no leaders
Other crypto's decentralization: multiple leaders
