What algo?  Do you have mining instruction or a pool yet?

Please take EXTREME caution when diving into new crypto ANN threads.

There is one poster who is posting what APPEAR to be NEW projects, but what he is doing is taking legitimate EXISTING projects and using his own new thread to entice people to download his malicious code that could cost you dearly.

The poster goes by HardZix.

He has new thread after new thread that LOOK like the real deal - except for one detail...

The link to the wallets or miners are changed to his own malicious code. How do I know this?

On October 15 I downloaded and tried to run a wallet for Nektarcoin in one of his threads.  The wallet did not run... at least not as a wallet.  I figured it was just broken.  Then people started to report it as a virus.  We all know that crypto miners are always setting off false alerts so I did not think that much about it.

On October 16, I opened my RVN wallet and to my utter dismay, all of my Ravencoin was GONE.  250,000 coins.  Gone.  The transfers were made on the morning of 10/16 and the only way that could have happened would have been through remote access to my computer.  Scary stuff.  This person also tried to change online accounts to his own - but all that did was allow me to know one of his email addresses...

I then read 2 more reports about people who had downloaded from his posts and they said they experienced loss of coins as well in the same manner.

I have reported this guy to the moderators and NOTHING has been done to stop him.  I have warned people in his bogus threads and... my warnings have been deleted.

Do NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM THIS GUY'S THREADS.

Mineable?
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BITCOIN LE - NEW COIN - Ecological Bitcoin - PoW & Low Energy on: September 10, 2018, 03:52:11 AM
Is needs to delete old blockchain data?

No.  the last few version upgrades do not require the blockchain data to be downloaded again.  It will not hurt anything if you do and, since there are only a bit over 72K blocks it does not take much time to do so, but there is no need.

Network seems to be running smoothly at this point, but the project could use some more miners.

BLE only mints about 7200 coins per day so NOW is the time to put your CPU's to work.

Yes - this is a CPU only coin at this point in time.   It is a little different than what you might be used to, but if you can follow instructions you can get this up and running without too much fuss.  Just follow the instructions in order to make certain you get it right.

BTW, this is not going to rag out your CPU's either.  The beauty of this algo is that is only mines about 1/10 of the time and the rest of the time the also is just idling.  It is controlled by a known 'unknown' hash from Bitcoin - each time a new BTC is solved, the BLE miner is signaled to begin the next BLE block.

This is a legitimately interesting concept that really is 'green' in its conservation of energy.

It is so funny.  People talk about how they would give just about ANYTHING to get in on the very start of something new in crypto...

Then, when something comes around that is new, they seem to freak out over the process of ironing out the bugs.

You cannot have it both ways.  'NEW' means there will be bugs.  Oh... people can clone a wallet and make a new coin based upon ideas that are many years old.  But anything really new is bound to have some growing pains.

It appears that 0.15.4 has made significant headway.   For the last 8 hours it has been very clean as far as I can tell.  Found blocks are confirming as one would expect and it should just be a matter of time before those blocks are fully confirmed.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BITCOIN LE - NEW COIN - Ecological Bitcoin - PoW & Low Energy on: September 03, 2018, 04:39:38 PM
Other than trading purposes, what are the other applications for this coin? Though it's an ecological coin as you said, still, what's the strong point of this project to sustain its life in crypto.

I am not a tree hugger, but I think energy use is a very important thing.   That alone makes this a significant foray into the proof of a new concept that should get some attention.

Just make sure you are using version 0.15.4 to get in sync with the fork... and follow the instructions to do so...
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BITCOIN LE - NEW COIN - Ecological Bitcoin - PoW & Low Energy on: September 03, 2018, 04:38:06 PM
How many time forks happened ?

I think it was not just once, but several times.

Maybe better option was to first release test version before going mainnet

In retrospect you are right, but the newness of this concept appears to have carried some unforeseen implications that would not have been present in a smaller scale test necessarily.

This is the second intended fork, but the first really significant one.

Nobody has tried this before that I know of.  Not as easy to get it up and running than a relabeled clone of a coin.

I would encourage you to upgrade to the new wallet and miner.  Those who do will almost certainly come out ahead on the long run as the old chain will be no longer supported and, I suspect, most who remain on it are there out of a lack of awareness.

Take care.

Please Note:

The Bitcoin-LE chain forked at block 70,000

You must use the VERY latest version of the wallet/miner in order to ensure you are on the chain that will be supported going forward.

The latest is version 0.15.4 - https://github.com/Bitcoin-LE/bitcoinle-core/releases

Here are the steps to make this transition...

1. Back up your wallet - always
2. Delete ALL information found in your %AppData%/roaming/BitcoinLE  folder EXCEPT for wallet.dat, bitcoin.conf and banlist.dat (if you had banned any peers).  The blocks, chainstate and database folders ALL get deleted.  When done, you will have no more than three files in the %AppData%/roaming/BitcoinLE folder.  BACK UP your WALLET.DAT - but also LEAVE it in place.
3. Run bitcoinle-qt.exe and wait for the chain data to fully download.  The update windows sometimes disappears BEFORE you are fully synced.  Give it time.  I would wait a couple of minutes AFTER the updating screen disappears.
4. Once fully synced - shut the wallet down and use the new miner.

Please note that the new forked chain requires the use of this latest release.  If you want increased stability and more reliable connectivity, this is the first step to take.

Finally - DELETE all older wallet and miner versions you might have.  Just be sure to always keep a backup of your wallet.dat - that is the only irreplaceable thing you are dealing with.

Thanks...

Thanks Dev! Looks good!

What looks good about a broken website and a 20 person Discord that bans people for asking reasonable questions?

Can anybody provide link to their discord?

The link on the first post not working?

Something ain't right, there's only two pools showing in block explorer and the highest is around 72MH/s, but the network hashrate is 19GH/s, is there a hidden pool or did someone develop a fpga that can mine this?

 Huh Huh Angry Angry

https://poolexplorer.com/coins?order=height&algo%5Bxevan%5D=on

Nobody is going to develop and program an FPGA for a little piece of junk like this.  Something smells fishy here.  I was banned from their Discord for asking this very question without making any accusations other than stating that something seems odd.

Miner beware.  I am done with it after 10 hours.

When I brought up the question about where the 19 Gh/s nethash was coming from, the response I got was...

I was banned from their Discord channel.

Draw your own conclusion.

BTW, the issue I raised was simple and to the point...

With the only two PUBLIC pools adding up to less than 100 Mh/s, where is the other 18.9 Gh/s coming from?  The public pools were accounting for 1/2 of 1% of the nethash.  I asked.

I was banned.

Really need a Windows miner...

To the dimwit who is claiming this was premined...

IF, by 'premined', you mean mined by people who did their due diligence, kept up with announcements, and did the research necessary to start mining this while others, such as yourself, missed the opportunity then converted their laziness into baseless accusations that are so easily refuted it just is laughable....

Yeah... it was 'premined'.   Basically meaning mined before YOU figured it out.

Been mining for a month now - almost 21K VRSC at this point.

And I was 3+ weeks late.
blah blah blah from red letter Bozo redacted [/size][/color]

Dude I mined for like two days with my desktop and got 4992 coins. 21k coins is not that hard to get.

21k is pretty hard to get now.  Early on 5K per day for me... but that last 18K has been a lot tougher.   You need about 500 Mh/s per block per day on average.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Date of ANN thread matches the date of the first block on: July 20, 2018, 05:19:15 PM
For anyone who is willing to do even the smallest bit of due diligence, it is so easy to see that no premining took place at all.

When was the ANN thread started?  5/21

When was the first block mined?  5/21

How much VRSC did that first block yield?  Less than 1/10 of one VRSC.

Anyone who is adamant that this was pre-mined is one of two things.

1. Confusing this project with something else that starts with a V or ends in an S

2. A liar who is willing to try to harm the reputation of an honest project with no regard for human decency

I want to think it is number ONE, but if there is one more post after this one that keeps that nonsense up - scratch number one.

very good points there. my first red flag was 50-50 reward pos. i almost took my miners to it but i said i should wait a little. 1 month and this is already over.

I do not see how POS is a red flag.   ICO? Red flag.  Masternode sales?  Red flag.  Premine?  Red flag.

POS with mined coins - where is the red flag in that?  I am not seeing that at all.

Have you read the white paper and the blue paper?

To any who wonder where the original ANN thread went and why we have this one in its place,  there is a very simple way to put it.

Bitcointalk threads are pretty much centralized.  There is no means by which a thread is started, ended or controlled by consensus.

This new thread has a stronger consensus from the Ravencoin Project community members.  The other one lost that consensus.

This speaks as to the more truly decentralized nature of the Ravencoin Project.  There is no 'official Ravencoin' this or that.  It is code that has been released into the wild to take root and to extend its shoots where it finds fertile ground.

It is NOT a potted plant and it is most certainly not a plastic plant.

I do not know exactly how or why the original ANN thread was deleted.  Perhaps the BCT member who started it decided to do so.  If that is the case, then I want express my thanks for that act.

Learn about Ravencoin, the manner in which it was released, the mindsets of those that initially conceived and coded it, the possibilities for this project that are not likely to be visible with just a cursory glance, and the spirit of the community that has formed around it in a grass roots manner.

My wallet won't start syncing, anyone know why? Just says connecting to peers.

Same here.  Got stuck at the 10 weeks behind mark yesterday and has not budged since.

This reeks of coin droppings.

LCC Core Wallet question....

Is it normal that the wallet, after fully synched (locked, encrypted and backed up) has  '0 active connections to the LitecoinCash network'? I take it's still early...?

Same thing happening here.  Stuck 10 weeks behind and no network connections at all.
