How does the cold staking work exactly?

You can stake using two computers like a joint account over LAN to protect the security of your keys.

The issue with using stakes as dev pot is that there has to be the buy support to even cash it out. However the community can find us OTC deals that myself or Craig could handle which could go towards development. I still have most of my coins since the project started.

Doc, we will keep moving forward and eventually break through. Pressure over time makes diamonds.
65  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: November 05, 2020, 06:23:53 AM
1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
I was aware of Bitcoin since the beginning, it followed my belief in anarchy and freedom and human rights. However I only really got involved later in 2013 and eventually came up with the idea for BitHalo to make unbreakable contracts which I felt would be perfect for an anarchy system as it eliminates the middle man and makes theft impossible in day to day contracts. Then I had made the worlds first crypto contracting software months later. I long believed that Bitcoin even though it was good, would not be a tool of freedom if humans were unable to defeat the media. However two party escrow gave people a way for honest people to succeed so that's when I got started, taught myself to code and the rest is history and can be found all over the internet.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
When I knew about Bitcoin in 2011 I wanted to buy but my friend said it was all on forums and I would have to do it person to person or to mine so I sort of forgot about it for a while until I took an interest again seeing it on TOR. Then I got some small amount of Bitcoin and saw it boom and didn't want to miss the boat so I invested in Litecoin in 2013 and made a good amount from almost nothing and then took an interest in the altcoin and Bitcoin industry as a whole.

3. How did you get on the forum?
It was the only forum I was aware of. I think just investing and I made a profile.

4.1. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
Governments run the news/propaganda and have guns and thus can influence adoption. Humans are creatures of habit and are unaware of the heart of the problems in society. So currently many of the barriers are abstract. If people desire for alternatives and digital assets that may one day power everything from stocks to real estate to currencies, then they may take an interest gradually when it truly meets those needs. However in the meantime there is an education barrier and a subversive/competitive barrier. What's nice though is it has become a true alternative to failing currencies.

4.2. How do you think mass advertising of gambling projects has a positive effect on the development of the forum or harms the community?
It doesn't harm anyone. A person who gambles makes that decision of their own free will and if society tries to protect idiots from themselves by forcefully removing their options then that in of itself is foolish. It's completely neutral. If someone doesn't want to gamble they won't take an interest.

4.3. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?
Like anything, there is no magic number. "How many miles can a man walk?"... an unanswerable question. If a person is smart, they will invest in projects that work hard with blood sweat and tears and not reward scumbags. It's better to invest in something you actually believe and lose than to invest in a scumbag and win. Once people realize that, the projects of the highest value can succeed. And besides, the probability of gaining is a million times higher when you aren't investing in vaporware. Bitcoin succeeded because of its code.

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?
Signature campaigns help incentivize people to engage. They will do it regardless of weather or not the forum endorses it. May as well make it transparent and let them participate.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
Any topic that promotes human freedoms, kind users that are on a quest for truth.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?
For the mods to not use this forum as a honeypot. To decentralize the forum completely so it doesn't turn into a facebook or a google. To organize the information more so people can engage with a variety of topics that aren't always about self-indulgence.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
I only really trade year long or multi-year long positions. So if I invest in projects it's extremely rare that it's speculative. Also I don't reward vaporware.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
After I was asked to develop BitBay, it was actually a hit job to hurt my reputation as some government shills wanted me out of crypto because BitHalo was a powerful/disruptive tool of the early days of crypto even though it was not polished. So I told the investors I would stay despite the attacks we had suffered and I would code the promises made by the founders. They asked me to rebrand/change the name of the project but I said we should not because success is the best revenge and it would be that much sweeter. So I stayed and worked hard and released the worlds first decentralized markets(2015), improved the contracts and the project went from having zero volume and a couple hundred grand marketcap to being worth about a half a billion in 2017 making most of the investors millions. It was one of the best comeback stories in crypto and was spiritually fulfilling. I didn't quite cash out much though so it's back to work for now. So it's been a wild ride to say the least.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?
It's good to inspire new financial products and increase stability without relying on centralized garbage like Tether. However it may cause a lending bubble and also a sort of mob mentality to move from project to project like vultures. So it's enough to kick off a project, but projects need to replace stocks and have true producing assets like dividends and real estate to keep people invested. In other words, projects should offer things beyond the basics of a crypto project or else it's just an empty shell for trading.

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
Yes, however most of the time I'm hiding in plain sight... hahahaha. Bitcoin is all about valuing our need to privacy and transparency at the same time.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
Haven't read any of the books, just learn through experience.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Bitcoin, Ethereum, BitBay

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?
Anywhere from 13 to 17 thousand? If you want to know the future, just wait and see. The best investment strategy is to invest in your own vitality and your own abilities.

15. P.S. (Optional)
Peace

Lol it's okay, you can comment!  Grin  Cheesy

Well if it's any consolation we will be testing a custom dex, multisig exchange... the only one of it's kind. And web based. Also there is a few other side projects going on.
We still are taking steps forward.  Cool
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (QTUM) - A Scalable Smart Contract Platform w/ Proof of Stake on: September 30, 2020, 10:56:11 AM
One of the few ICO projects developed well.
You can see that I am a really well-made team. They deserve to be in the top 3.
Thanks for your hard work.

most of ICO dead after they raise money.

That's because this ICO was secretly a premine so they just sold the free coins they got on the investors heads and continue to do so. Most ICOs are like this, they just say they funded X but really just gave themselves the coins, partner with exchanges, wash trade and sell on investors. Thats why the price never really goes up because logically there is no reason for it to keep hitting new lows unless someone got a free ride. Similar to how a thief will sell BTC at any price (why should they care, they didn't pay for it) so does ICO fraud do similar things. Even with development, from an investment standpoint I would never recommend anyone gets behind someone who has no problem backstabbing their own investors.

Just sayin...  Roll Eyes
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: August 13, 2020, 10:51:52 AM

I'm stunned we are not in the top 10 coins.

now THAT is comedy gold right there......................

LOL

 Lips sealed

Why, whats so funny about it. The project is extremely well coded. Scams like Ampleforth where supply doesn't change a users equity and is completely taking advantage of the ignorance of orderbooks is .25 billion. Dogecoin is still one of the top coins in the world. What's is comedy gold is how society lauds and loves anything as long as it's liquid and marketed and pisses and shits on anything that is technically brilliant if not funded. Remember Urocoin? Yeah, people bought into that and even pumped it.

I will say it again, our lack of adoption is a reflection on society, not on what we accomplished.

Yes I made a mistake and should have focused more on setting money aside and I know a couple other investors are thinking the same. However that doesn't take away from the fact that this project solves important problems like escrow and stability with upside potential (assuming there is true liquidity). I hold no illusions about our future, I'm going to keep working and have some ideas still... even if the moves are radical.

Investors who would rather toss their money at trash than at brilliant innovation are the losers of society even if they get rich doing it. They gained financially but lost spiritually.

Does your address load up on screen?

If so, enter your address in the search field of the chainz block explorer
See if your coins are showing on the block explorer

Mobile wallet isn't updated yet, but we literally just pushed an update, it should be available in a few days.

In the meantime you can check your mobile account on the web wallet at wallet.bitbay.market

I WOULD HAVE BUT I COULDNT FIND A AMPL BITCOINTALK THREAD

We asked them about it before. If they were being honest they shouldn't call it supply control. It's more like a split/reverse split system. Really it wouldn't have any meaning if exchanges listed users by their percentage of total market share. A supply control system needs to have a shift/change in user equity for it to have any meaning.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: July 28, 2020, 01:32:45 PM

I'm stunned we are not in the top 10 coins.

AMEN Doc, currently Ampleforth is in top coins and it's saying they have "elastic" supply because they think 1/10 = 10/100... such a scam. As if Bezos could multiply/split total number of Amazon stocks by 10 and magically make himself a trillionaire. If exchanges listed users by their percent of marketcap that coin would be worthless. It is an insult to all things good in the world (bunny rabbits, waterfalls, fluffy clouds) that BAY is not currently the one being lauded as the go to so called "elastic supply coin". We live in an Idiocracy... it is painful to watch. But we have to consider that says more about society than it does about us. Sure we made our mistakes by not capitalizing more as a team when we had the chance, but that is nowhere near how disappointing it is to watch the masses walk into scams.

BAY works because of users holding EQUITY over reserves!! That special equity is what makes the magic happen. It matters when a person buys, how liquid their coins were at the time and so forth. Those things matter and without equity changes there would not be a true change in supply vs demand. (someone should really repost this on AMPL... lol)

What is missing is traditional income streams that most businesses get. If we were to get capital of a few million surely it would go towards things that actually bring home some bacon for the project. We have the talent, we have the peg, it holds 20 cents, all we are missing is resources/liquidity. Plus we succeeded once we can do it again.

One thing our nay-sayers can't deny is that we DID hit .5 billion marketcap after they spent years coming to the forums shitting on the project. We had a win that they will never forget. And that was without the peg! It's one of the greatest accomplishments in my life. I said years ago, success is the best revenge and I promised we would succeed despite having brand confusion, abandonment from the founders, trolling, censorship and so forth. People said "change the name of the project, go anonymous" and I responded "no, because fuck them and when we succeed it will be that much sweeter."

We did succeed despite all of the adversity. If we can pull it off again the peg will be too strong for anyone to stop because we have built in volatility protection! It's true our future is uncertain, I would never ever create a false expectation. Regardless of the future, we can know we took part in one of the greatest underdog stories in crypto history. When BAY piqued in 2017-18 it was the #1 gainer when Bitcoin bubbled for almost a week straight. It was doing 100% per day without the peg! After all we had gone through it was great. I know a lot of us didn't sell much myself included and what a big mistake to screw up a winning position. There almost isn't a day that doesn't go by where I kick myself for it. But it was a series of moments I know I personally will never forget. I've learned though... I've learned that unpopular decisions are sometimes the right ones, that focusing on adoption was something I greatly underestimated, that we didn't put enough into finding liquidity providers or doing standard marketing or thinking of cash cows to invest in on the side to keep a full time team funded (even if it had to be something totally unrelated like real estate). However nobody should underestimate persistence. I've got a more ideas and a few aces up my sleeve still. Even if the moves/changes are radical. It's not over until the fat lady sings.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: July 23, 2020, 09:12:19 AM
I am selling all my coins at market price.

Send me a pm if you are interested.

Latoken will be back up and we are still working on stuff. If you want a buyer posted a dde contract on the market client or go on Latoken when it reopens. We have more aces up our sleeve still... this project is very much alive.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: July 23, 2020, 01:17:04 AM
Good meme, however we will see who has the last laugh.  Roll Eyes

When the smoke clears from the new defi lending bubble only the real projects will remain standing. The peg works without collateral, if the masses don't see the value in that yet then that doesn't change anything. In fact, it says more about them than it does about the project. Plus there is a lot more we can do to get this moving.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: July 19, 2020, 04:03:14 AM
HALO v2.5. has no connections/ is it possible to add them manually?

You should check your network settings to make sure you allowed it access to private/public networks. Also you can get a list of nodes from chainz.cryptoid.info
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: July 15, 2020, 12:31:57 AM
The pegging works by balancing the wallet amounts based on present liquidity and votes, so depending on what the people want and the liquidity of Bitbay forces the coins in reserve to keep price stable. The reason you cannot see the trading on Latoken is because Bitbay is presently under maintenance, don't worry trading will resume soon.

I thought PEG is for whole network. Then why im my personal wallet I see BAY(R) 1059 and BAY(L) just 0.53? When I compare it with Latoken exchange I had almost same reserved BAY value 1016 and for liquidity 10 BAY. That means Latoken exchange have different rules or wallet?

It depends on the liquidity chart. It's possible that Latoken has more premium coins. It depends on when you deposited those coins on Latoken as well, how premium were they? If you purchased reserve it depends on who you bought it from, how premium/fast did those coins convert?

The only difference between Latoken and the wallet is the exchange does what's called "liquidity mixing" where for a smoother trading experience a user who buys liquid will have a share in the total liquidity pool for the users at that moment who are also liquid. This prevents a user from accidentally buying sub-premium liquidity because they can't see a users liquidity distribution chart. The reserve however is very specific and it's somewhat random the reserve quality you buy from a reserve seller. Although I suspect most of the reserve is premium because of people who deposited later with a better set of liquid coins.

So please I want you to take a look at the send tab and then activate coin select. Then look at all the inputs you can possibly spend. You will notice each input has a liquidity chart. If you click on that chart you can see that each chart is different and the amount of coins distributed is different for each index. You can also see these charts on the block explorer too.

How do I find the version of the Markets Client? When I click on Help/About it just says "Halo 2.5". But that is not the version of the Client proper.

Thanks in Advance

that is the correct version, the QT is on a different version 3.1 than the Python Halo client which is indeed 2.5.

Hi guys, anyone know why it takes 180000 network confirmations before we get our BAY onto LAtoken exchange? its been about a month and a half now and still only around 40k confirmations  Huh

Quote
Your account will be credited after 180000 network confirmations.

You can check current transaction status on the transactions tab.

I also don't see anything in the transactions tab.

Thanks.

You can review the LATOKEN exchange wallet here:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bay/wallet.dws?67109.htm

Check for your deposit address. Eventually we hope that LATOKEN will update their UI to include "pending" for BAYR deposits rather than looking up manually on explorer.

Thanks for the reply cr197, I have checked my deposit address and I'm not getting any results, It's showing as sent in my bitbay wallet. when I try to look for the transaction on the BitBay Blockchain Explorer it's not showing any results? And when I look up my wallet address on the explorer it shows my balance and my previous transactions in 2019 but not this recent one?

I have been in contact with LAtoken support and they gave me this message:

Quote
This changing is normal, it is due to the peg
BAY switch to BAYR depending on the vote or BAYR switches to BAY depending on the vote
if inflate or deflate, it is how BAY works. BAY and BAYR are same token actually, in the blockchain it is considered as same token, it is just different states.. For more details you need to contact BAY team and they will explain more.

So do I just have to wait or has something gone wrong do you think?
sorry for being a noob + thanks Smiley

You are on a fork then. You should update the software, backup you wallet and keys, dump your wallet keys to a file(if on QT), remove the blockchain files from data directory, download bootstrap and put it in data directory, import your wallet keys into a new wallet and resynchronize. Your funds are still in your account and after doing all of that you can try sending the transaction again.

If it's BAYR it takes a month to confirm because those are reserve. They should credit to your account if not, ask Latoken and send them the TXID. Also you can check the TXID on chainz.cryptoid you should make sure you aren't on an orphan chain.

If you don't see anything in the transactions tab maybe rescan your wallet or compare the balance to chainz, you should see your Tx there as well.

I love this article. It just goes to show how the industry has massive horse blinders on it and when a solution arises, they take a lot of waking up to realize there IS a solution.
The Dynamic Peg fixes this. And the beauty of it is that it can't be broken so it can't fail. It's just a matter of waking up the masses

https://www.forbes.com/sites/seansteinsmith/2020/06/17/bitcoin-failed-as-money-and-that-is-great-news-for-crypto/

Maybe we should email the editor and let them know about the peg release and BitBay as one of the oldest most developed projects.
