What about Waves DEX?  Wink
It would be great at least ideologically.

Yeah its not a bad idea but they aren't really doing DEX. Its not atomic trade and im not entirely sure how they manage their protocol. But still the more the merrier. Dogecoin is on 300 exchanges... maybe some dont have volume but as a collective total we should be one more exchanges anyways.
622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: June 06, 2017, 11:30:47 PM
any news of attaining any new exchange listings. Bittrex is good but

bt38 or any others at all? even cryptopia seems to be growing
I have seen other threads where investors demand debs to list the coin to Bittrex because it is a big exchange with high volume but in bitbay case it seems the opposite is true.It is already on Bittrex but you guys want it at other small exchanges

Yea. Doesn't make much sense to spend btc on getting on small exchanges. Just look at todays volume. 330 btc on Bittrex, and less than 1 btc on c-cex...

Edit: But a decent chines exchange would make sense

Small exchanges become big exchanges. I remember when Polo was nothing. The only reason they became so big was because every other site stole from their users... errr umm i mean "got hacked" and they were the only ones left.

If you aren't using atomic trading how can you possibly claim decentralized exchange? Otherwise parties can just double spend. There was no mention of double spend or atomic trade in the whitepaper please explain. Users can double spend by simply mining their own transactions. If you use an escrow account then it is not decentralized either because that allows a 2 of 3 collusion attack. And 2 of 2 accounts require microtrading. What protocol is being proposed here?

Thank you for this interesting question, i hope the answer will satisfy your demand.

The validator will be hosted on a decentralized distributed storage platform (SafeNetwork) which will provide a lot of possibilities to solve issues related to live and offline trading. As an example, using multisignature addresses doesn't means centralizing the process as it will be done by a user and a decentralized process hosted into a decentralized ecosystem.

As i said, it is just one of the many possible sollutions, as they are ranging from soft, to extreme degree.

You can also check this link : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Atomic_cross-chain_trading

There is an interesting solution to the atomic trading issues you talked about.

Rest assured that the team will never release a trading pair if they are not sure about the security of the process.

"Apollo777": Correct.

1. How do you plan to distribute dividends on Bitcoin/Counterparty network ?

Think about it for a moment. Assume 10,000 investors, means that you will need to do 10k Bitcoin transactions (and pay $20,000; $2/tx) just to distribute the dividends.

...When each transactions costs $2.
Maybe it's smarter to find a way to do it without relying on over-crowded Bitcoin network ? (based on Ethereum or Ethereum classic, or some other network)
After all there is a good reason why StorJ coins migrated from Bitcoin/Counterparty to Ethereum.

2. Double-spend attacks that "dzimbeck" mentioned

Another way to double-spend Bitcoin is to use zero-confirmation RBF - Request-by-Fee (and send transaction to self with a higher fee).
Bitcoin miners will pick-up a tx with higher fee, even if arrived *later*.
How do you plan to deal with it ?
A safe BTC transaction requires 6 confirmations, but I don't see how-to achieve it in this case of decentralized exchange.

Thanks for the question.

There is a section in the whitepaper who explains how this part will be handled, when you withdraw from poloniexw, or other similar services, they don't broadcast a trasaction right away. Instead, they group them, and send a single transaction. This is how the distribution is going to be processed and it can be done as long as the TX size is lower then the block size. From there, you can create a single transaction with several outputs and pay a marginal fee.

This is one of the situations where the validator is handy, because he will ensure that you won't attempt to realise such operations, as he will check (several times) the informations sent by the users and process them in order to allow a trading, and the usage of multisignatures, smart contracts, LN channels would be also a part of the sollution.

As i already sead, NVO doesn't want to compete against other decentralized exchanges, or centralized exchanges, NVO aims at using the technologies provided by the multiple blockchains to create an as safe as possible environment for trading, and to provide a multi crypto wallet with as much "functions" as possible while giving the possibility to its users to choose what function they want to include into their wallet.

Is this project uncapped? So from my understanding, when the ICO closes, 15M tokens will be distributed based on the % of your contribution to the funding pool.

Yes the project is uncaped, and there is no price for the NVOTokens, at the end of the crowdsale, the contributions will be calculated and evaluated, every participant will receive a proportional amount of NVOT.

Actually your answer does not satisfy my demand. You are asking for money and yet you don't understand the protocol you will be using nor were you able to answer. I've been a crypto dev for 4 years and coded BitHalo and BitBay. Just linking me to wiki about AT when I already know how to do AT with checklocktimeverify is not a sufficient answer.

There is only ONE way to do decentralized exchange between blockchains and that is atomic trading. It cannot be done without checklocktimeverify because of malleability.

Also 2 of 3 escrow like BitSquare is not decentralized because of simple theft and collusion in escrow.

2 of 2 with microtrading works like in BitHalo but it's tedious and expensive and unpopular.

So the only way is AT and it must have a web front end in JavaScript and no blockchain download to become popular.

You can't just launch a project and be like "give me money and I will build a decentralized exchange"

Sure man that's what everyone is doing right now and I'm getting tired of it. Make a full fledged decentralized exchange and then.launch a token. But your marketing whitepaper and response shows me you didn't have a specific protocol in mind to stop double spend and malleability

Like I said there is one way and to my knowledge Blocknet is the only coin doing it (maybe also Komodo)

Atomic trading

OK maybe you can build LN in every coin but that would be insane engineering costing millions or years

By the way when peoples money is on the line there is no such thing as "safe as possible given the tools in the coin" there is completely secure and not secure. It works or it can be hacked period.

anyone downloaded the new windows qt wallet?

any idea why they took out the block explorer and statistics, earlier waller was far prettier and functional, not criticizing just mentioning

plus PLEASE if you notice downlaods come from a site without https, I mean this is basics, 10 bucks a year and really helps to prevent attacks and malicious swapping of files
please dev and crew please add and to site pages

The downloads are hosted HTTPS might move them to github. The site needs to be updated it's on the list

The old qt wallet was updated for POS 3 and then new one will be obsolete.

Although a block explorer is interesting, the markets wallet has hundreds of features with smart contracts and decentralized markets and such. So eventually everyone should move to that.

thanks

well i'm using the new qt, thats gonna be around for some time yeah?
not using markets one yet

Yeah a while less than a year most likely. But I've still got a bunch to do the remaining templates and rolling peg. Right now adding locktime support for transfer of frozen funds

All these services with the same name.
Starting to get confused which one is which.
Bitpay Bitbay. Tomateo Tomaato.

Let's call the whole thing off. Embarrassed

maybe you can an answer my question. do you know why the dump happened? when i saw it i thought: "who was hacked this night". but this is not the reason. thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Seems like coordinated manipulation. Because every altcoin sold, some going down 50% aside from BTC bear. What else could it be?! Its is unconscious? Traders think BTC in negative is a good way to trap altcoin investors so a multitude of traders use a playbook strategy?!

a coordinated manipulation by whom? i still don't get who is able to to that.

The federal reserve and swiss bank and military have access to almost infinite money (they can "double spend dollars"). They probably buy a little of everything with their free money. Also early bitcoin whales and chinese highly experience traders. There are a lot of people i can think of.

Also, a lot of the orderbooks are too thin especially in alts meaning a group of guys with 100k+ btc in combined assets can do this. Is this not true?

let's discuss the coming performance updates....what are they and how important will they be ?

how far away is the pegging ?

bays MC performance is good but still nowhere near where it should be.

Most might not even notice the changes. It's definitely going to make it run more efficient
In my opinion the major addition in this release is the ability to unlock the wallet for staking only.

Ah well making it run smoothly is very important. I guess the next update will be a bigger one and people will take more notice. We are still well ahead of the game. I am looking forward to the api and pegging. Especially the api so other devs can start joining in with things.

Sys gone parabolic atm. Bay usually tracks after it. So big upswing to come. 50M next target.

Also any word from yobit or any other exchange about adding bitbay? cryptopia and nova are getting more volume lately too.

Yobits scammed David out of the .2BTC he paid them to list us. That was 6-8 months ago.

I'm guessing the next addition to anticipate with be the blocknet dex.

And we've got an ace up our sleeve that we are antsy to release in the near future. Once it's open to the public we will push hard for a Chinese and Japanese exchange listing.

After that we know of another secret exchange in the works that should be ready for launch.

Lots to look forward to and it will all be added before the end of the year.

really? well I'm not happy to hear that. Yobit is a  strange place.

oh that sounds rather interesting i like the sound of aces up the sleeve for bitbay.

if david posts the details here i will follow it up and see if i can shame them into doing something about it.

Basically I paid the .1 btc sent two support tickets both responses were generic "if you don't see it listed then it's declined" which was vague and eventually I got upset and asked why they list scams on their site but not a legit project with higher volume I also got upset he kept the .1 btc and didn't care to explain why and so I used profanity. He got angry and said "its so easy to freeze your account for profanity"

I had a Bitcoin on there and so I explained if he doesn't unfreeze it I will open a scan accusation and did agree to not curse.
He said "why if everyone thinks Yobit is a scam do they want to list here?"

His response is a good question actually. I guess it's a calculated risk. He unfroze my account.

i finally managed to download the qt wallet..... this took days. and now i need to now where the blockchain is stored on OSX.
i really have to transfer my coins out of bittrex. during this bubble everything can happen - even a "hack" of an other exchange.

On Mac the QT wallet is inside the app. So click on it and browse inside it and it will be in c:/users/admin0/roaming/Application Data/Bitbay

But you can backup your wallet in the QT in the file menu which is simpler

Back up above 1000 sats!  Still not on Polo....

Maybe they have a vested interest in SysCoin which is a similar project to BitBay? I don't see why this would be a problem though, there is more than enough room for both of them in my opinion.
I assure you they do not

Thats good to know. We always hear rumors about exchanges getting some cut on the deal. Well did you ever put in a good word? What will it take to get BitBay on there?
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: May 20, 2017, 08:31:33 PM
Hi
Got a problem with bitpay wallet. I actually thought i lost it after buying a new computer and forgetting to save the backup, but I think i have found the original wallet.dat. I download the newest qt wallet and replaced the wallet.dat with the old one in appdata/roaming/bitpay/ but i am getting this error -

Warning: error reading wallet.dat! All keys read correctly, but transaction data or address book entries might be missing or incorrect.
and the client fails to start.

Any ideas?
tks

Bitpay? Is that a typo or your folder actually looks like that?

typo sry

This is a generic Bitcoin issue... so start by reading this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1290416.0

I went through all the options on that thread with no joy. Also i found out that you can extract the priv key from a wallet.dat with a hex editor but i am not very technical. 10% of wallet Reward to anyone who can fix the issue.

I can probably do it. You can come on slack and I can investigate this. And this is your only copy of this wallet?
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CLTV to P2SH Potential bounty $ and question on a script on: May 19, 2017, 01:18:27 AM
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/43353/p2sh-pay-to-script-hash-within-a-script

So maybe it is not possible because there is no EVAL. That is what I was sort of guessing. Is this 100% true? Is there no way around this? (yeah i can look at block explorer but it won't work if we want to lock to a brand new p2sh account) ... I swear Bitcoin is held together by bubblegum and a prayer.

Okay so now I am simply looking for gifted Python devs who might want to help me update my library. And maybe do some refactor work in BitBay and BitHalo. It's a 50,000 line monster code. The most complex and feature rich Bitcoin wallet in the world. Let me know if any of you are interested.
636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CLTV to P2SH Potential bounty $ and question on a script on: May 19, 2017, 12:38:14 AM
I would like some of the more experienced developers to respond to this especially if you are a good Python dev.

So since all my accounts on BitHalo and BitBay are multisig there is a strange dilemma now that I am adding FULL checklocktimeverify
support in the UI with friend ways of describing and interacting with these scripts.

All seemed okay until I realized that to pay a CLTV transaction normally you list the public keys for a multisignature you intend to pay as so:
2 pubkey1 pubkey2 2 OP_CHECKMULTISIG

The problem is normally in BitHalo or BitBay you would not know the persons public keys to their multisignature in advance. As all of the accounts
are already P2SH how could I send to P2SH within the P2SH script(for CLTV) and what would the redeem even look like? I use pyblackcointools which is a custom derivative of pybitcointools. So anyone who wants to help code a way of signing these fancy scripts I will pay to do so. Or if you can just
advise if its even POSSIBLE to pay a P2SH within a P2SH and somehow redeem it. I considered something like this:

Script
timestamp checklocktimeverify drop dup p2sh

The redeem script I want to do would be like this:
sig1 sig2 multisigscript SCRIPT

So in theory it would verify the script then duplicate the p2sh script, compare it to the hash, then evaluate the script

But all my attempts have not worked. And I don't want this to be labeled nonstandard(although I can manage if it is and just make the daemons accept it).

For those who are curious this is how the script would look normally.

timestamp checklocktimeverify drop 2 pubkey1 pubkey2 2 checkmultisig

You might argue "just do that, it works" but the problem is my users are not psychic, they don't know the public keys of a brand new account
and to even find the public keys of an intended recipient of a freeze transfer they would have to check a registration address or scan their recent
transactions and look into their input for the public keys (that is a very hack solution!!) I don't want to have to over-engineer this.

So this is a two part question. First, what would the redeem script look like, is it even possible to pay a p2sh within a p2sh?? (without knowing the pubkeys)

With that said, would I sign the script or the multisig or the script of the checklocktimeverify script address?! Is this compatible with my pyblackcointools library even?! (its just pybitcointools with minor changes)

And the second part is, who out there is a master in Python who might want to help me update my pyblackcointools library to I can start making a friendly way to sign and detect and script these things? I will write it myself if need be but it is a very tedious scope creep from my already mammoth amount of work coding BitHalo/BitBay

Thanks!
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The DEX (Decentralized Exchange) Thread on: May 16, 2017, 09:35:00 PM
You should add BitHalo and BitBay to the list for FIAT decentralized exchange. Basically in the coins for cash templates you can do decentralized exchange of fiat that should have replaced localbitcoins years ago. It uses double deposit escrow which makes both parties deposit in order to prevent deception.

I've already done multiple wires for the sales of coins for cash. And so have many other members of BitBay.

BitHalo supports Bitcoin and Blackcoin. But ANY coin can be sold for cash as long as the deposits cover the payment.

Also users who don't have deposits for their "first" deal can enter into a guarantor contract which is unilaterally binding to the seller. The seller encumbers only the risk of the buyer flaking completely which is why they would sell a smaller amount and do a small personal KYC.

The advantages of this over any other fiat gateway are mind blowing. First off its totally decentralized and cannot be shut down! It WORKS. Its not vaporware this software has been around for 3 years and the latest version is so solid.

Two party escrow (as discussed for years time and time again) makes theft obsolete because it takes the profit out of it. Thus when doing P2P fiat, you can do business with anyone in the world and totally bypass any regulation since its a private deal. You as a seller or buyer simply do your own kyc. The software is completely FREE and the markets for posting orders are totally decentralized P2P based on Bitmessage. You don't have to meet sellers face to face, you don't have to deal with reversals since you can use cash payments which are actually favorable in these deals. And you can even deal with untrusted parties.

I wish places like Venezuela or China knew about this as it would just totally change how they do business. Places that can't get into crypto can using this software.

Also, the template has price tracking so it always keeps your order at the market price. You can set stop losses and you can set a quantity by adjusting the maximum and minimum orders. You set your own service charge and contact details.

Seeing is believing here is the software in use.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL2e8FniDWg&index=2&list=PLILfNPSQCo6yjFiwXY6-C-ikIDs6v2nHU&t=53s

Again it also works in BitHalo with Bitcoin where in BitHalo you don't have to download the blockchain as it uses electrum.

There are 100s of other features too but just for the sake of decentralized exchange of fiat I really think this should be added. In theory you can already trade coins on Halo using microtrading but I'm not going to recommend that because it is tedious and requires sending a bunch of transactions and atomic trading is a better way to do DEX of coins.

But as far as DEX of fiat there is absolutely no better way to do this and I don't ever see there being a better way. Since the middle man is totally demolished.

The next round of performance updates. And I'm pretty much done. So expect this build 1.27 this week.

Can someone point me to where the POS3 whitepaper is? I can't seem to find it.

I wrote one and posted it to reddit but nobody published it. There was this claim that it needs this or that or must be penned by rat4. Regardless it was a pretty good paper and unless someone in Blackcoin core takes the initiative to add said enhancements it won't get published. Personally I think they should release it as is.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: May 16, 2017, 09:41:50 AM
'Halo' isnt giving Blackcoin anymore updates. Bitbay getting everything with Halo now. what does that tell you?

..visit blackcoin slack..and just ask, he will tell you, David is working on nighttrader..

Actually there is some truth to this. After a very long discussion with the core BitBay guys they explained (rightfully so) that they spent the past 2 years testing 1000s of contracts, testing cold stake, promoting, marketing and making videos, volunteering insane amounts of hours etc for features that keep getting pushed back to BlackHalo.

I can assure the Blackcoin community that the BitBay community has been a godsend and the core members not only invested thousands of hours of their time daily but gave endless advice and inspiration and without their testing I would never have improved the software to this level or found bugs or really anything.

So there will be a delay in the release of the remaining templates in BlackHalo AND BitHalo. Namely because (and this can be proven by seeing the lack of multisig addresses in the BLK block explorer) that very few people actually use the software here that was designed for free. As the community knows I don't run the github (this is still rat4's coin) and have very few coins only a few hundred thousand.

The delay does not apply to bug fixes and improvements and patches. So for example 1.27 will be released in a few days with some pretty major updates.

The delayed release of templates will happen most likely after BitBay's rolling peg.  Perhaps if people start actually USING BitHalo/BlackHalo and help promote it (you realize it has a coins for cash template that tracks the price and should have already replaced localbitcoins?!) then I can release templates under a faster schedule.

If you look at BLK block explorer the top 500 addresses there is only ONE multisig address. And that would be my address. So that proves nobody is even bothering to download test or do anything except use Halo as a vehicle for speculation.

BitHalo alone should have been in the news daily and yet I see as it is constantly ignored and no community was built around it (perhaps because there was no token to invest in directly). That to me is very disheartening considering they clamor for vaporware like "root stock" or whatever proposal someone has for one day adding smart contracts for Bitcoin when we already have the only software in the world that does smart contracts for Bitcoin.

It should have been a slam dunk and been on the news every time Bitcoin and Ethereum were mentioned together especially since unbreakable contracts have more real world use cases than "pie in the sky" ETH contracts.

As far as NightTrader is concerned which is BlackHalos exclusive feature indeed any incentive plan I work for Blackcoin be it dividends or some sort of advantage is still very real. So even if I didn't hold a single coin I would still push back to BLK that gift. Even if NightTrader becomes its own token I will still work out a way to reward Blackcoin members from the exchange.

The best design for NightTrader is Atomic Trade. The problem is as described before it needs to be done completely in Javascript. Currently I'm already investigating techniques. I've had a few conversations with Gritt. It is a massive undertaking and we might actually want to consider funding for such a thing. After all these years why am I still working on a shoe string budget? Regardless the timing of such a thing will only be assessed after my current obligations are met.

With that said, Halo can already be used for decentralized exchange yet I've never seen a single person attempt microtrading as traders tend to enjoy charts and fast paced centralized trading. Even at their own risk and expense.

So to make matters clear each coin has it's own exclusive set of features.
