61  Economy / Economics / Second Stimulus check - What are you going to do with it? on: August 03, 2020, 06:02:05 AM

I think is thread is USA focused as we (many, not everyone) are about to get another stimulus check. What are you going to spend it on ?

Video card(s)?

New Computer?

Stocks?

Pay off credit cards?

Buy Crypto?

Bills, bills, bills?

Something you want to keep secret?
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 03, 2020, 02:11:47 AM

These threads remind me of the good old days...

Can you guys provide a list of what you are mining right now:

With AMD GPUs

With Nvidia GPUs
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do you fear the president of your country, one day, making Crypto illegal ? on: August 03, 2020, 01:28:07 AM

What if, for example - like after that twitter hack - the President wakes up (in a bad mood) and decides with an executive order to make all crypto illegal in the USA?

Of course this probably will never happen in today's world, as the there is big money is invested into crypto currencies; but do you ever think that it is even remotely possible...

Or the next elected president is so "old school" and decides that crypto needs to go?

I don't mean only America, what about in your country; do think that a future ban on crypto currencies is ever possible in your country?
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 03, 2020, 01:01:47 AM
One local place has the 2060 KO Ultra for 329.00.

They had a 2060 super for $369, but it looks like there is a mini-run on cards...out of stock again.

But it looks like the AMD kills it for the $$$
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Does this Forum have:COLLECTIVE POWER to get behind 1 coin and make a difference on: August 03, 2020, 12:48:41 AM
Does this Forum have the COLLECTIVE POWER to get behind one (or 2) coins and make a difference?

So many choices, so many people, so many promises, so many dreams, so many different points of view.

BUT together can a large group of people make a difference? I don't mean spam a scam, is there something out there that everyone here can get behind; a new project, a new coin, an idea  or an old project / old idea that needs to come back?

Seems like big money and big media still controls everything; and most large groups without leadership can't agree on anything.

BUT:

What's out there that creates a spark like bitcoin did in it's early days (lol, maybe that's not the best example as MANY people dissed BTC), but the true believers know what I'm talking about.

I don't mean [only] financial returns; What's out there that make you excited ?

What is out there that you would recommend?

What's out there that; maybe, just maybe, we should all get behind and support?

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 03, 2020, 12:35:22 AM

What do you think about the 2060 or 2060 super ?

I know you mentioned waiting, BUT If you HAD to build something now, what would you use ?

67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member on: August 02, 2020, 12:50:53 AM

What about:

"Date registered" and "Activity" vs "Position" (rank)

Which do you value more?
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member on: July 18, 2020, 02:00:25 PM
Until now I have to say that the rank of  bitcointalk members are announcing a project doesn't mean much to its success, you can still waste your time on a useless project althought it's announced by a legendary member( RIPAEX is an example).
But the scam rate of a project will decrease if it is announced by a legendary member.

What if Multiple Legendary members got behind a project, would that interest any of you ?

69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member on: July 15, 2020, 06:09:43 PM
Not always. First you should the track record of the account. Considering the previous ranking system can be classified as easy to reach the legendary rank, it is different from now that using the merit system. Also some people sell legendary accounts to other people.

That is true, but is there a way to confirm that the Legendary is still the original person (maybe a few other "old timers"  know the person). There posting record, style, etc.

What about this (and I don't want to hijack this thread), what if a bunch of proven legendary users started a project? Or what if a very large number of reputable forum users (with status) started a project and we all got behind it ?

Of course there would have to be rules/guidelines and safeguards.

What do you think about a Legendary "Marvel Team Up"?

70  Other / Meta / Re: Where to post asking if anyone is interested in starting a "project" together? on: July 15, 2020, 03:52:19 AM
If your "project" still related to bitcoin or on bitcoin blockchain itself I think Project Development is the correct board. Definitely, you should introduce the main idea of your "project" first then trying to recruit some people to build the project together. I am not sure if the "project" is mainly on altcoin allowed there maybe here is the best place, but if you explore that board there are some altcoin projects also posted there.

Would be considered altcoin related, there is no altcoin/project development group.

Is "altcoin discussion" considered the equivalent ?
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member on: July 14, 2020, 10:28:44 PM
Will you trust a project that the one that announced it in the announcement thread is a legendary member even though the legendary has announced that he is not part of the team and was just part of the service he offered.

Let me know your thoughts here.

I am curious, can you link to the project or tell us more?

72  Other / Meta / Where to post asking if anyone is interested in starting a "project" together? on: July 14, 2020, 08:00:10 PM

I don't want to get into trouble, but I've search and search and I am not exactly sure where to post a few questions (and ideas) about a project I've been thinking about starting. I'm not really recruiting anyone, but I want to toss around a few ideas and get some feedback, maybe form a "exploratory" team (If that can be done).

Of course the board rules come first.

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone still using Windows 7 ? on: July 14, 2020, 07:47:40 PM
It actually was my main mining rig for years even after Win 10 was released. It was much more stable than Win7 and for ETH mining it was more stable that Ubuntu hence I used it on some of my rigs.

I stopped using it primarily because there are no more security updates. It was discoutuined sometime in Jan 2020. Hence with all the exploits out there, there is no point in using it anymore really. Hence had to upgrade those rigs to Win 10. Sure miss Windows XP and Windows 7.

No love for Windows NT? Shocked Shocked

Grin Grin Grin Grin

Ahhh Windows NT, good times !

There should still be a few ways to lock it down, but it may not be worth the risk.

Just curious, for everyday or just for mining, etc
76  Other / Politics & Society / Re: COVID-19 teaches all of us. on: April 14, 2020, 02:57:41 PM

Is everyone thankful at least we have electricity...what if something happened and you were to lose power (at least you will have your smart phone)...but that would suck.

I think most of us realized that need to be more prepared, not full on "prepper", but have more basic supplies (food, tp, soap, water, etc) and more savings.
77  Other / Politics & Society / Re: COVID-19 teaches all of us. on: April 13, 2020, 07:51:40 PM

I'm told that we may never shake hands again...

Bowing and fist bumps from now on, maybe
78  Economy / Economics / The US Stimulus - How do you feel about it ? Too little to late? on: April 13, 2020, 07:48:41 PM

The US Stimulus - How do you feel about it in general and also in how it is divided?

Do you think more should have gone to small businesses and families/individuals?

79  Economy / Economics / Re: Stock market, bubbles, US economy, distribution of wealth...Americans=no savings on: April 13, 2020, 07:44:47 PM
People in the USA must be taught financial intelligence, buying what they don't need on loans is a deadly way to live life, this will cause one's savings to disappear and creat problems for the national economy. Dr Ben Carson once said in his book Take The Risk, that Americans must do away with credit cards as it's creating more problems for them and this is making the American economy weak. People should leave within their means and not take loans to live big lives and later become slaves paying debt all their lives. This does not apply to the USA alone. While I was in the banking sector, we always plan to make people to be indebted to the bank, this way the bank makes more money while the debtor losses his savings.

What would you finance? House and car? Maybe have an emergency credit card or 2...

I've heard that you should pay cash for your car, but that is probably unrealistic for most.
80  Economy / Economics / Re: Stock market, bubbles, US economy, distribution of wealth...Americans=no savings on: April 12, 2020, 05:41:05 PM
I think that Americans cannot save for 2 main reasons, we are tricked into wanting things through marketing AND many items just happened to be market priced at the high-end limit of what it can cost...business probably spend a fortune figuring out the max the market will pay for a device/service.

for example: For some reason we need a new phone every 2 years and that new phone costs $1100

(But yet you can build our own computer for $2000 (or less) and it will be good for at least 8-10 years)

Housing is still way overpriced compared to incomes...unless there is a major restructuring (I can get in trouble for saying this) only the frugal will survive and be able to save and I say this because; if you go onto Twitter and see all the people begging for money right now...sure some of them are probably scammers, but still it's crazy how so many people have NO SAVINGS (or toilet paper)!
