61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: July 08, 2018, 12:08:13 AM
we will see LTC next year at 555, this year it will have hard time to break 166-180, and BTC will have tough time breaking the 16K, but the important thing is that cripto is gaining momentum for a crazy up move, and it will be for sure crazy on the upside just like it was on the downside

555! I love how you didn't say 550 or even 560, it's 555! Wink Mind sharing the mathematics behind it?

mathematics? who needs mathematics for a WAG. maybe mercedes321 is a Colin McRae fan? Likes the Colin McRae Rally video game? Is really a closet Subaru WRC fanbois?

63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [AIRDROP] Motion | MasterNodes | x16r | Smart Contracts | Trading LIVE on: July 01, 2018, 01:00:32 AM

this distribution will be 10k split for the 1k users or it will be 10k for each one?

The OP said:
Quote
We're giving out a total of 10,000 Motion split up to the first 1000 people who sign up and provide their wallet address!
ONLY for the first 1000.

Dunno, but that seems pretty easy math to me.

10,000 Motion
------------- = 10 Motion/person
1,000 People

Yes, I got my 10 XMN airdrop and used it to help set up my MN.

mineority.io/product/fpga  I know the acorn is a different product.  The point is that the two are VERY connected.

Nice summary grendel25.

From what I can tell by lurking on the FPGA discord channel:
  • FPGA.land is GPUHoarder's endeavor, and he negotiated a deal with Xilinx to buy 5,000 of their VCU1525 dev boards.
  • mineority.io and FPGA.land are collaborating, with mineority.io buying 2,000 of the 5,000 boards from FPGA.land.
  • There will be mods made to the boards to improve mining performance, especially for better cooling and power, and because of the mods and also to reduce confusion, Xilinx has asked GPUHoarder/OhGodAGirl/whomever to change the name, and that's why you see BCU1525 references.
  • The price that you pay for the BCU1525 in fiat is US $3600 through FPGA.land, however they are sold out. The price you pay through mineority.io is also US $3600, but as grendel25 said, mineority.io takes all sorts of crypto, but not fiat.
  • Because FPGA.land and mineority.io are collaborating, I believe, if I understand correctly, that you can make an arrangement to pay in fiat to FPGA.land for a BCU to be delivered from mineority.io.
  • mineority.io is also offering hosting plans that range from 1-3 years long for an additional sum.
  • If you host the BCU1525 with mineority.io you are supposed to have access to their proprietary bitstreams.
  • If you host with mineority.io they also extend the warranty out to the length of time that you host with them.
  • The Acorn is a GPUHoarder design and sold through squirrelsresearch.com, another website run by GPUHoarder.
  • mineority.io is not offering the Acorn, yet. I would be surprised if the Acorn didn't appear in an offering from mineority.io eventually.
  • bitstreams for the Acorn will be provided by or through GPUHoarder.
  • The Acorn will have an API that mining programs can take advantage of if they are updated to do so. It is unclear which, if any miner devs (z-enemy, dust, ewbf, etc.), have been given the required info and/or pre-seeded with working prototypes to allow Acorn integration to be incorporated into their miners.
  • GPUHoarder's team is going to produce a miner.
  • No definitive list of what algorithms will be supported yet.
  • No definitive collection of performance data with regards to GPUs, motherboards, and algorithms. GPUHoarder has said that he, or his minions, are collecting that data and will release it all at the same time. On the discord channel GPUHoarder has been collecting a number of different motherboards and has taken suggestions/requests for specific boards. I imagine that GPUHoarder has, or has access to, a broad selection of GPUs to test. I have not seen any requests for GPUs to be tested.

for what it's worth, these same questions come up all the time in the discord channel. GPUHoarder and OhGodAGirl are fairly active, as are a number of other bitstream devs.

[ edited to add "power" to the third bullet point so it reads "better cooling and power" ]

Thank you and nice summary by you as well.  There is really a lot going on here.  In November 2017 I was telling anyone that asked me about crypto (I'm like the office expert... ha) that there would be BIG changes in mining.  I was saying that because of all the Samsung rumors but given the way tech changes I'm not surprised we are all sitting here talking about tech that would replace a  GPU mining rig with 1 mining card.

I guess a question that I have but I think I saw an answer to... this is in regards to bitstream costs.  I want to say there would be some reasonable fee.  OhGodaGirl said jokingly she would remove such fees lol... I just hope the fees are not too high.

It will be interesting to see these pools Kristy-Leigh is talking about.  If it does what they say... they will be rich... oh wait, they said ZERO mining fees on their pools.. idk lol.  Kristy-Leigh is either restoring civility and community to the crypto world or this is the most crewel joke in the world.  If BTC goes back over $20K this year, I'll blame Kristy-Leigh for it!  hehehe

From what I can tell, there are several folks who are writing code for bitstreams that will be free (for the community) and there will be some that charge a dev-fee. I thought I had seen 4% mentioned as a dev fee, but I don't know if that is accurate. I also know that the GPUHoarder bitstreams, and probably the mineority.io bitstreams, will need their secure shell and an eFuse (burned into the BCU1525) to decrypt the bitstreams. 4% may seem high, but in this case there are just 5,000 units, not the tens or hundreds of millions of units of GPUs out there.

I don't know too much about other available bitstreams for the VCU/BCU1525, but I have to imagine that there will be dev fees involved.

So if I had to guess, Kristy-Leigh and OhGodACompany make their money through sales and hosting of the various GPUs they offer to host. Since it appears that OhGodACompany also does development work for GPU based miners, vis-a-vis OhGodAnETHlargementPill (the 1080, 1080Ti, and Titan XP free one is a sample of their custom work), they make money by contracting out their coding skills to private entities. I am also sure that they have a bunch of GPU mining rigs that they use to (cough, cough) test (cough, cough) their code. Who knows, perhaps they are one of the few entities in the crypto world not driven purely by greed, and like you said, are trying to restore civility and community. Then again, maybe they are elevating the scam to levels that BFL could only dream of.  Wink  Time will tell.

(its fine...always liked being a hobby miner with 2 in the basement better anyway...less angst) Smiley

That's me.  Grin  Only my hobby miners are a pair of 1080Ti GPUs to my right, a (now) money losing S7-LN that has been tweaked by sidehack to my left, a Compac USB stick miner (also a sidehack item) in a powered hub in front of me.

I only host the L3+, but as soon as Giga-Watt gets caught up with their construction, I may see about hosting something else with them to take advantage of the WTT tokens I own and the cheap power.

I hobby mined LTC in late 2011/2012 with CPUs and crappy GPUs and re-discovered my wallet in 2016 when LTC was in the US $4 to US $6 range. Just imagine if I had not sold it all for other cryptos back then. That was just prior to LTC spiking and Bitmain introducing the L3 to the public. The money I got from the "old" LTC I sold is funding my hobby now.

68  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [90PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: June 27, 2018, 05:19:57 AM
The pool is consistent and growing steadily, since I've been here say for a very "lean" April. It's hard when whales come in but luck is luck and still other miners are joining to. Regardless the system here is one hash = one hash.

Also I've got some Winderlea 2011 Pinot Noir for our next double block day (work gift). Hope it's soon!

I got your point. But consistency I challenge when we have 25 - 50% hashrate swings. 230-100PH pool swings. But I know it all evens out in the end. Not good for my OCD though. Maybe I need something from the cannabis family  instead of the grape family.

If hash rate swings and inconsistent payouts send your OCD off the deep end, this is definitely not the pool for you. There are, however, some super knowledgeable people here to help answer your questions.
Thanks I am good. All I was hoping for was a good mail order catalog from Colorado.

Sorry, can't help you there. All I have are some old Land's End and L.L. Bean catalogs. If you can't get the Colorado catalog, have you checked out Oregon?  Grin

I simply ask the following proof of concept.

What can you show us?

see below you mention pre orders mid june or late june

Looks interesting, do you have an aprox. order/ship date or not yet?

Mid to Late June for all orders and information. First batch ship a few weeks after.

where is the video?

David,

This is great!  Thank you for sharing your information with all of us.  I am really excited to see you develop this product and if it all looks as attractive as it does now whenever pre-ordering comes online then I'll be interested in possibly 10+ depending on performance characteristics as this is tested and developed further.

I guess the only question I have at this point is regarding the tangibility of reporting.  You said you wouldn't want to release some shoddy looking video but do you plan to release at least 'some' video that is of a reasonable quality?

Other than that, I would just like to share this little write up on M.2 slot tech.  50-650% data transfer boost is really impressive  https://www.howtogeek.com/320421/what-is-the-m.2-expansion-slot/

I’m sure we can produce a video. I’ll never understand why so many people like to watch videos online, but ok Smiley

I am reading this now

Can anyone find a link to the Discord server mentioned in the first post?

I think this may be the one

read  discord

  I still don't see a product

I don't see  a way to order

I don't see the boost it gives.

I do see you missed your dates  of mid June to take a preorder  and you are about to miss  the late June you mentioned.

Seems like the Acron M.2 FPGA is in his hand in this post:

https://twitter.com/ohgodagirl/status/1009186435717402624?s=21
That's not the acorn, BCU1525

Correct. In that picture Kristy-Leigh (OhGodAGirl) is holding the VCU1525 (it's unmodified, so VCU) and (I think) Dave (GPUHoarder) is holding the actual FPGA device (XCVU9P-L2FSGD2104E) that is on the VCU1525.

Same Here Phill IS the most Trustworthy GUY on this entire board.  When you get one working Send one to him to test and run.  When Phil verifyies that it's true and working You WILL have more orders then you will know what to do with.  Other then doing that, having a discord and videos is all fu$king bullshit.  No one including me cares about that crap.

I offered to help them a while back.
I have been through enough grief on projects like this that I have a lot of concerns.

I also know builders
Of gear are always slow to launch.

I waited until the 26th which is 11 days past mid month.

No preorder was taken so far.

This means  op missed a date

My post was simply a reality check.

Here are a couple of photos that GPUHoarder posted on the discord channel a few days back.

https://imgur.com/a/VNowx3l

The first picture is an Acorn (immediately to the right of the x16 slot) with a tiny fan and a heatsink on it. The second picture is of two prototype Acorns/Acorn boards on a M2 x16 riser card to check for spacing.

I've signed up to receive notifications for the Acorns, and I follow the discord channel, and I'm hoping that I can get one of them to boost my hobby mining rig.

There were no 5000 units, so he sold more or less then that. Seeing that some member bought more than a dozen and they might be many people who are not speaking and then those who don't make an account. I think he might have sold few hundred or thousand "units".

Also he is gone now. The show has come to a stale end with members still hoping that they might get something and I was expecting a few more replies from him :/
The *ucker is probably reading this thread and laughing.

Nah, this thread will live on for a very long time, kinda like the Butterfly Labs threads, or group buy scams that occasionally have people resurrecting them asking what's going on without realizing the last post was from years ago, or alleged sightings of the scammer.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: June 27, 2018, 03:58:13 AM
I have the impression to not buy any more GPU of this generation for mining.

wait for the next round;  where things will be back into the green again.

until then, make the best you can with what you have, or turn off and wait for a change before things move up.  If you need to shut off for a month or two;  I would assume most professional farms have earned a "vacation" from 24/7 work....  at the cost of a month or two rent.   I think it would have been one of my professional strategies if I had taken the loan and opened my own legit farm....  but I myself am glad that I didn't.   I just kick myself for not spending when I should and could have..... I'd have earned hand over fist more.

Also remember, BTC is reaching it's low.  Think back to BTC==$200.    We are in that territory again, but since BTC is already established;  recovery should be swift.   If it is;  imagine the profit ratio on the climb of the real "third spike" in price that things of value tend to do when traded.........   That's going to be the honey-pot.   I think selling anything right now is purely weak hands... unless your business profile dictates it.

But Once BTC rises back up to 10K... profitability I think would be less of a concern for most.   20k+, everyone would be happy.
That's a nice blue sky scenario... but there are arguments against it.
The rise to 20K was a massive pump, aka market manipulation.
The vast majority of BTC are split amongst a few addresses.

Two points that speak against decentralisation AND efficient markets.

Everyone's expecting BTC to break records and get to new crazy highs. Most people haven't even considered that this might just never happen.

I'd say those are two weak arguments because they are purely speculation without evidence. On the other hand, i have two counter-arguments that are all for bitcoin rising in value again.

1. Bitcoin is ever-improving. Scalability is being addressed, mass adoption rates are growing, and people are becoming more aware of avoiding scams.
2. Cryptocurrencies add value to services. They cut out the middleman and offer a solution for the efficient transfer of value.

Have you considered that maybe that is why "everyone" (your words) is expecting BTC to break records and get to new crazy highs? Smiley

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens over the next few months as the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the US Department of Justice (DOJ) proceed with their price manipulation investigations, and what comes of it. If the CFTC and DOJ give the futures markets (CME Group) and the exchanges a thumbs up (most likely with fines or warnings involved, along with a requirement to be more transparent/forthcoming with pricing info when requested), then there could be significant money flowing into the crypto market from the likes of Goldman Sachs, et al, who start creating investment vehicles for institutions or people not interested in hodling the coins themselves, but rather through some kind of custodian.

How much money? I don't know, but it could be significant. Am I speculating? Why yes, yes I am, but this is cryptocurrencies, and what are cryptos if not speculation?  Grin   Oh, yeah, they hold value and can be used to transact business, too. My bad.  Kiss

Regarding the no such file error, I think that because you didn't specify enough information for z-enemy to actually mine it looked for a config file, and didn't find it.

This is the basic command I use on my rig:

Code:
/<path to z-enemy executable>/z-enemy -a <algo> -o stratum+tcp://<pool info> -u <coin address> -p <pool password>

you need to have a coin address and maybe a pool password. Depending on the pool you are mining with, they may tell you what to use for a password.

Also remember that a VCU is full of stuff which are completely useless for mining because it's not it's primary role.

Any guess what VCU is capable of for Monero mining?

Why would you ask that in here? Go to the discord channel

I am not asking, I am questioning his assumption regarding VCU.

That question doesn't belong in this thread, which is why it was suggested that you ask the question in either another message thread on BCT, or in the discord for the device.

Can anyone assist with an Ubuntu 16.04 installation guide?

Make sure that you have installed the right version of the CUDA libraries on your machine. z-enemy is built with one of several different versions of the CUDA libraries, so depending on which z-enemy you installed, you will need to download and install that version of the CUDA library.

Latest version for Ubuntu 16: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads?target_os=Linux&target_arch=x86_64&target_distro=Ubuntu&target_version=1604&target_type=debnetwork

Thank you to OP for starting this post and providing the needed info to move this initiative forward.

I live in NY and have a direct personal contact (a close friend, not a random sales rep) that works at Avnet. I would like to organize a group purchase as to hopefully benefit myself and the community and put us in the position to possible negotiate a lower price. My friend says he can work on expediting the delivery of the Xilinx VCU1525 (maybe by a week or 2) just for me. He said the original price of $4000 is off the table and the price is now roughly $5000 till end of June, and in about 2 weeks its going up to $8,000 due to the high/increasing demand.

I would also like some direct answer as to the project status if its ready to go and if I get the FPGA today, or is it still being worked on? I think most people would be happy to pay any dev a fee for a final working solution, right? As I understand it the Zethron website does NOT have a production version of what is needed to run this card only a test version? If someone could please clarify or summarize because there is 66+ pages of conversation and its hard to get a solid answer as to whats going on as of today.

Anyone want to jump in on a pool purchase of the VCU1525 please email me directly xavien.crypto@gmail.com I have a brick and mortar store and my friend is local so I can certainly arrange to mitigate the orders as long as we have enough people onboard to give us the buying power needed to get some discounts before the price skyrockets out of control.

There are several discord channels regarding the xCU1525 ("x" means choose a letter, and the modifications are being made to the VCU1525 board specifically for crypto mining). You can buy these from mineority.io for $3600 and they will ship the card to you. There are some shipping restrictions based on your country.

According to their website ( http://store.mineority.io/product/fpga/ ) they have 1224 in stock (yes, I logged in and checked, no I have not bought one, no I am not a shill for minority.io). mineority.io is part of OhGodAGirl's company, and they are working together with GPUHoarder and a number of other FPGA knowledgeable people to make these cards and bitstreams for a variety of algorithms available, especially for mere mortals.

Fair warning, mineority.io only accepts crypto as payment.

When you join the discord, don't be the typical noob and just blurt out your questions. Read the FAQ, read the pinned messages, scroll backwards in the channels and see if your question has been asked (trust me IT HAS) and answered. Reliable answers in that discord come from people with their names displayed with colors other than white (pink, red, blue).
