601  Other / Meta / Re: Merit/activity ratio. on: August 02, 2022, 06:04:00 AM
Is there a way to have a ranking of best user sorted with high ratio?
Subtle Cheesy So you've been planning to reach the top of the Top-merited users list since 2018 Cheesy Well done, such dedication Tongue

I looked at the date on this op and discovered how determined he was on joining here and focused in making constructive posts to rank up. I love his determination and it paid off for him. I wish am like him. But not everybody has the same mental ability, I know. I will keep striving to improve myself.
602  Other / Meta / Re: Why are there no official moderators for Other? on: July 31, 2022, 03:49:24 PM
Probably he is a friend or someone wanted to be recognize even though he isnt active.

Are you saying leaving an inactive member's name there as a moderator is a kind of compensation for him from owners of this forum? I do not think that is the case. What you just said now can be done in a proper manner if at all by getting those who have helped this forum one way or the other into a Hall of Fame for this forum. Just open a thread and pack them all in there by mentioning and branding them.
603  Other / Meta / Re: Would you be interested in promoting Bitcoin projects/services for free? on: July 30, 2022, 08:13:28 AM

Am currently free now. I was in that Betfury campaign and when it ended I decided to keep the avatar on. If you have yours now I will gladly wear it pending when I find a paying campaign that attracts me. I hope my comment clears the doubt?
604  Other / Meta / Re: Would you be interested in promoting Bitcoin projects/services for free? on: July 30, 2022, 07:32:43 AM

Yes Pmalek, I will gladly wear a free logo and avatar for what you are proposing whenever am not in a campaign like now. It is even something I sent @icopress a pm asking his permission to wear his own advert logo if he allowed it about a week ago to which he has not responded to. I like to support any business that is credible without getting paid for it once am free.
605  Other / Meta / Why are there no official moderators for Other? on: July 29, 2022, 08:55:36 AM

Something caught my eyes today as I was going through the homepage of this forum and paying attention to how it is divided into various boards. I discovered that the one written 'Other' which includes Meta, Politics & Society, Beginners & Help, Off-topic, Serious discussion and Archival, there is only one moderator for them all. As if that is not bad, that moderator who happens to be Miningbuddy has not been active for over 4 years now. He was last active in April 2018.

My question is how does the forum get over shit posts because I do not see alot of it there. I know Meta is out of it and can take care of itself for no one dare make spam posts there because of the huge number of reputable members who post there. But how is shit posting controlled in others? Secondly is it not long overdue to get new moderators for that part of the forum?
606  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Confusing sign on bitcoin transaction on: July 27, 2022, 08:30:36 PM
so it might be just a glitch in your wallet software.

Maybe it was a simple glitch in my wallet because it also showed 72 confirmations when I noticed it. And yes it is a Coinomi wallet to answer to witcher_sense. Thank you all.
607  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Wike gift 12 million each to Rivers United players on: July 27, 2022, 07:59:00 AM
I don't know how this may sound to some of us here, but politics aside. Let's talk about team motivation which to a great extent, Wike's $12,000 gift and free trips to Madrid to River United players for coming top in the just concluded league will go a long way to keep the players motivated high-spirited for future competition.

This thing weh Wike do na correct thing eventhough me self no too like him as a person because of his tout pattern of governance. But the way he treated those players na something to applaud. Unlike  Heartland FC weh the government of Imo state deh owe months of salaries to the point the management caused the Naze millionaires to enter relegation. Wike try for that one. The highest goal scorer for the season weh be from Rivers FC and come be former Heartland player talk say the cash long, no be for here. Just do your calculation na with this our everyday falling naira you self go gree.
608  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Confusing sign on bitcoin transaction on: July 27, 2022, 07:30:20 AM

Please I want someone to explain this to me as am showing in the picture. I made a transaction yesterday night and it delivered few minutes later. Receiver got it. But 10 hours later am still seeing the part I marked 1 in black on the left, that is the small rectangular box beneath the circle. I used to think that the sign was to show that a transaction was not fully confirmed. How come after 10 hours that sign is still showing for a transaction that got completely confirmed in less than 20mins last night? At the time I took that picture this morning, it has 72 confirmations. But why is that still showing?

Moderator can move this post if here is not the appropriate board for it.
609  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] YAS.BET Signature Campaign |Full+| 25 SPOTS OPEN | Earn Up to 75$/Week ! on: July 26, 2022, 03:51:51 AM
Are you encouraging spamming? Or do you not care as long as you are paid by your employer? 30 posts per week is far too many. This would only attract a slew of scumbag spammers.

There are also campaign that allow user to post 50-60 or 80 messages/week in way to let them earn as much as possible. Would you consider them as spam? No, if that is quality content.

Those ones you talk about do not make 50-60-80 posts weekly compulsory. They have a minimum and that is far below. Also the rate you offer is cheap. Legendary at $50 is very low.
610  Other / Archival / Re: Most crypto-friendly economies in the world on: July 24, 2022, 11:31:11 PM
It is both nice and disappointing to see that Nigeria is on the list at number 39, the second African country after South Africa. I feel we could have been higher up in the list with our very high crypto involvement had our government not made the environment less friendly with unnecessary regulations and sanctions threatened for those involved in crypto. Not for so long though, i believe that in a couple years, a new government must have take power and hopefully a better favourably crypto environment will flourish, Nigeria should be amongst the first twenty.

Me too I felt a bit disappointed also to find out that Nigeria was not among the top 10 on the list. The reason you gave is correct. Anti crypto activities of the prevent Nigeria government is a minus to us crypto lovers in the country. We have the trading volume and can be rated high on that but the friendly aspect if government to cryptos is what has dealt with us.
611  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore account PM on: July 24, 2022, 08:21:29 PM
You would get a PM from a member you put on ignore, and so a user who ignored you would also get your personal message.

They would also get an email notification of the message. This would mean, the ignore user option only blocks the user from your posts and not PMs.

In that case, that means those members we send PMs to and they do not respond that it is them intentionally not wanting to respond to us. And not because we are placed in their ignore list. That is bad behavior.
612  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dead member account suddenly active? on: July 23, 2022, 09:46:47 AM
Interesting subject. I have an example for you, not one that was posting, but that was connecting after his death. He died in 2014, yet he was still connecting until 2017. It's this account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2436
The famous guy who received the first bitcoin transaction.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5406723.msg60589121#msg60589121

The Hal Finney case was mentioned in post #7.

I checked his profile and his last post there was on August 9, 2013, months before his death in 2014. I guess his death was not by sudden because he stopped posting months earlier. Possibly he was bedridden. Does anyone know what happened after his death that the account became active but did not make any posts? Situations like that should raise some questions.
613  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: July 22, 2022, 05:42:21 PM
This one too about begging on behalf of sick people wey need surgery with pictures for road, some people too dey say some people don take am as business that the surgeries are not done.

Those people weh deh do this one na pure business o. One of my friends don even interview one of those sick people weh them deh use and she reveal how the matter deh be. I know deh look them side again since then. Sometimes I deh feel like cursing those people parading them to make money. Nothing weh idiots no go do to cash out. Now wetin some of those sick people deh do na to go solo and beg by themselves. Nigeria no be country at all.
614  Economy / Services / Re: ♐Igehhh Campaign Management Services ♒BOUNTY♓ANN ♍TELEGRAM MODERATION. ♐ on: July 21, 2022, 12:46:56 PM
This will be a plus to the bitcointalk forum because as more reputable members keep managing campaign we are rest assured trust is covered and in your case your reputation is without doubt or disbelieve.
cheers!!!

That is correct, what you said. We have seen reputable managers who are managing campaigns put in their best to control shit posting and scams. I trust this user will also do the same thing. He is a reputable member of our local community here. Congratulations Igehhh.
615  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dead member account suddenly active? on: July 20, 2022, 10:47:41 AM
Tbh, i do not think a user's family member can even think of doing something as ludicrous as that, and if it ever happens or has happened previously, then your description of them above is not far from the truth. I have already said it in this thread that if a late user's family member likes Bitcointalk and they are nothing like your description above, then they will register and have their own account, to even think of inheriting someone else's Bitcointalk account is a thought that shouldn't even cross a sane person's mind.

So I missed this comment earlier on. Let me ask you, what happens to those who inherit the properties of death people like their accounts in the bank, their houses and cars? There are people who even refuse to drop the mobile phones and sim cards of their dead ones. They continue to use them. Are you going to also say they are vultures too like the Pharmacist referred to them?

Most provably the account of known dead person has been banned by the mods so most provably this is not possible to recover by anyone unless the said user didn't create any noise towards the incident happen to the decease person.

But what if mods do not take note of such news to ban those account. We can not be sure they ban deceased accounts. I do not know how to check banned accounts, I would have checked the ones I know that are dead.
616  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dead member account suddenly active? on: July 20, 2022, 08:15:08 AM
But you need to understand, my girl will not have same interest as me. The users are brother to me they will become uncle to her. Unless she makes it public they will be confused.

That was funny. But do you want to believe anyone cares who is uncle or brother? Online people only care about conversations and not family relatives and their sex.

I haven't thought about having an heir to this account.

Maybe you did not understand the question well. It is not about a deliberate passing over of the account to another person. The death member will not know of it. He dies and after some time another person, maybe a family member, who is interested in cryptocurrency finds his password and starts posting from the account.

But that can be any member of the dead forum user's family who eventually found the password to that account and decides to continue with it so they can earn and support themselves financially from it, maybe because the account is already high ranked.
Jesus, only on bitcointalk would a conversation like this happen--or a scenario like the above even be contemplated.

Do not be alarmed. That type of scenario is contemplated here because this site gives people an opportunity to make conversations and earn from it. That is why. And it will be the same thing anywhere where faceless people earn talking.
617  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN][In Merit] Post Count Down To Your Next Rank Here. on: July 18, 2022, 06:32:39 PM
There is one such thread by @Ratimov in which if you are eligible to apply or have the little amount of merits left for your next rank : [Merit] ]Help newbies and those who have a little left to the next rank

Ratimov has not been posting in that thread for a long time. Maybe he has abandoned it. Such a good thread but whatever made him stop posting there I do not know. And he has not said why.

My Countdown to Senior Member Rank
Number of Merit(s) left:   41

Let me drop my application here. I can benefit also because I know I have some good posts which are not merited.
618  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dead member account suddenly active? on: July 18, 2022, 06:06:44 PM
Online is hard to confirm things. Especially confirmation on death. Who will confirm it and how, with what proofs? Who will announce confirmations? Lot of things you can not trust and verify if you don't know the owner of that account in person.

There have been confirmed cases of deaths here. I can recall up to three cases right now and one of them is from my local board, Becky666. There are members here who also have people who know them outside here in real life.

Forum has information on seclog with woke up, password reset via email or secret question, recovery. In profile page, you can see orange highlighted text: woke up after a long inactive period, password changed. It is enough of warning from forum side.

Am not talking of change of password or anything. I mean they continue using the account without changing anything because they now have access to it. It is not like hacking it in the true sense if it.

620  Economy / Reputation / Dead member account suddenly active? on: July 18, 2022, 02:12:56 PM

There is something that am thinking and that has to do with accounts whose owners have been confirmed and announced dead in this forum. My question is this, what if that account becomes active again and begins posting? Is it going to terrify anyone thinking we have spirits lurking here or will that lead us to think a hacker or scammer is at work? But that can be any member of the dead forum user's family who eventually found the password to that account and decides to continue with it so they can earn and support themselves financially from it, maybe because the account is already high ranked. What will likely be the reaction of members of the forum to that?
