601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Little Research on all the Development Companies!! (KnC, Gridseed, FlowerTech..) on: May 16, 2014, 06:39:51 PM
KNC is primarily a SHA-256 asic manufacturer.  Yes, I know they have the Titan and mini-Titan coming out, but they made their name by selling Saturn, Jupiter, and at some point Neptune Bitcoin miners, not Scrypt.
KnC is an ASIC mining manufacturer, building both SHA256 and scrypt(n=10) chips and machines at this point.

I think they key is that unless a company produces scrypt ASIC hardware, they won't be included in this thread (which makes plenty of sense).
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool - wafflepool.com on: May 16, 2014, 05:51:03 AM
Something is broken - shares aren't counting, and reported pool hashrate is under 2GH/s right now.

Shares are counting.  We're running some DB maintenance right now, will see a huge drop for a few minutes, followed by a huge spike a few minutes after.
Cheers for the quick update.

What about Alpha-T ?
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SimpleVert.com: Triple merge mining, or Quadruple? on: May 14, 2014, 10:40:34 PM

Curious, why is my cgminer reporting block changes for Execoin from Simplevert, which doesn't mine Execoin. Are you by any change quadruple mining?
Do you have a backup pool setup that mines EXE?

EXE can't be merge-mined with VTC, so that's just a silly suggestion.
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RON] SwansonCoin** Hardfork: 80000! **CryptoALTeX Giveaway Soon ** on: May 13, 2014, 12:11:41 AM
The only place I had to change my Ron, now can not handle deposits, please fix what the block explorer and protocol.

QuarkBar is offline due to possible double spend attacks. AsiaCoin is online please download the new wallet before depositing. ROH, MGC, and CATEDOGE offline until we hear from developers about no network connections and blocks not moving.

thanks

As a test I sent and received coins from CryptoAlteX today. Everything seems good with them. Transactions confirmed quickly.

I'm disappointed that the swansoncoin.com site and it's nodes are down, though.
The network could use more nodes running latest wallet. Please leave your Swansoncoin wallet connected if you can.

Also missing the block explorer.
I will make a point of keeping a few nodes online.  Might need to create a block explorer and re-vitalize this coin a bit soon.

SWANSON!
607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pandacoin (PND) - 9 days til POS [Multipool | NO PREMINE | NO IPO | Scrypt | KGW] on: May 12, 2014, 04:34:31 PM
Mintpal trading is fast but the demand is 0, thats why trading is so slow  Undecided Today 0 panda were bought, only sold. Yesterday happened nothing, everybody was waiting what will happen. Today some people probably run out of patience. Its a normal correction, when something is not bought for a long time, a discount occurs.
This doesn't really make any sense - every market order is both a Buy and a Sell...   There can't be people selling without people buying.

---

PND still a hold IMO.  Cheap coins available today - if you missed out before, now's the time to buy some PND, or mine it at the multi-pool!

Under Pool stats, for some of my miners I am getting huge numbers of "Discards"  What is Discards and why would some of my miners be reporting such a large number of them? Not sure what it means..  I am asking GAW to..
Do you have expiry set to a low value?
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: May 11, 2014, 04:33:14 AM
PandaCoin (PND) is trading against BTC on both MintPal and SwissCEX!

https://www.mintpal.com/market/PND/BTC
https://www.swisscex.com/market/PND_BTC

Please add these markets!

Woot woot... PND/BTC back on MintPal!

On another note, anyone else have PND withdrawal issues at MintPal?  I have had 11million PND withdrawal pending for 2 days now.

There is a new interesting coin called talkcoin that looks to be ASIC resistant and even Profit Switching resistant..  How exactly it does this, I am not sure.  But it sounded interesting.
TalkCoin is just scrypt PoW Litecoin clone with 20 second block times (a dumb idea) randomized block rewards (like Doge), and community-vote-chosen block rewards (from Heavycoin).

It does include a built-in decentralized chat (lol! seriously - the client connects to IRC already)... but it isn't ASIC or profit switching resistant.

(Unless I read the code for the wrong talkcoin-wallet)

It's important to remember that nothing is actually ASIC or profit-switching proof - some systems simply resist these forces by developing new solutions that haven't been countered yet.  Anything that can be mined with a CPU or GPU can be mined more efficiently with ASIC equipment.  It is simply a matter of cost/benefit - is it worth producing ASICs for a given algorithm?

And I am extremely confident there will be a multi-algorithm auto-switching pool for GPU miners our this year - very likely before Q4.  Development is already underway. (Hint: the stratum protocol will almost certainly be replaced this year)
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 10, 2014, 12:33:03 AM
doge started growing, seems like I made a good choice buying 100 more k Smiley

1% change is hardly 'growth'...  The value of dogecoin is unlikely to climb much higher - there is simply no reason for it to.  This is a silly digital currency created as a joke, and the PoW distribution scheme is severely faulty.  It's unlikely Dogecoin will survive the year without a hard fork.

Unfortunately, we discovered that all cgminers, including new ones have idlebug. I suggest ckolivas is informed about this bug so it gets fixed asap.

Can you please explain in more detail about "idlebug" and what this means?

They mine ok if I just put them on your pool ... so it this something related to the use of the "price" option only?

There are multiple bugs in cgminer related to pool's being inactive or unavailable, but not marked as much.

The most severe example has been discussed a few times in this thread, and I provided an overview and 1-line hack to fix the issue (that any competent programmer should be able to turn into a comprehensive fix).

Jeez he must have quite the farm of either ASICs or GPU's then, that's crazy!
If you want some background, look up the nick sfire on these forums.

The farm is mostly GPUs, although they were one of the first to be running gridseed ASICs.
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast | ASIC resistant | Multipool proof | KGW | no-premine on: May 09, 2014, 08:08:38 PM
When Craptsy and mintpal will add this coin?
https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/183
?

Someone bought the price up 50% today on cryptsy.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast | ASIC resistant | Multipool proof | KGW | no-premine on: May 09, 2014, 08:04:55 PM
I am holding a small bag of exe since launch, however seeing that Scrypt-N asics are already in production https://www.flowertechnology.com/product/the-daisy/ I believe EXE needs to find some other "claim to fame". If it's still possible to hardfork this to PoS, I say do it. May be not immediately but in a month or so, just don't wait for this shit to ship.
Flower Tech is entirely vapourware so far.  When they release an actual product... then it might be worth considering a switch.  Notice that flower doesn't publish anything about hashrates for nfactors - sketchy.

Confusing UI. Have a look at betarigs their interface is clear.
BetaRigs is based on a completely different kind of rental system then NiceHash.  NiceHash lets you lease hashes; BetaRigs lets you lease rigs.
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast | ASIC resistant | Multipool proof | KGW | no-premine on: May 08, 2014, 04:56:44 AM
I'll take the reward.

Please remove the position absolute.  I don't own the website nor do I have access to it.  Please pay me via below.

<...>
Oh come on... that isn't any better - it just makes the menu items overlap the Execoin ASIC-free Zone area.
619  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - innovative professional cryptocurrency cloud mining service on: May 08, 2014, 01:32:36 AM
@Nicehash staff, I think you are abusing of the stratum method "client.reconnect". Why are you sending this? Is it really needed? It adds trouble to the stratum/tcp connection and some extra delays.
Reconnects are needed, because the stratum protocol does not implement a way to change special extranonce parameters except for on first connection.  Switching between other pool's relays requires changing these parameters.  You can use the patches or patched compiled cgminer that nicehashdev has posted and are available on git.  This implements a new command in the stratum protocol so that the reconnects are not necessary.
620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - www.middlecoin.com on: May 07, 2014, 11:35:21 PM
MiddleCoin has been paying (I received payment yesterday).  It's maybe not the "best" at times, but it's consistent.
I've tried other pools and although MiddleCoin has it's glitches every now and then, the other pools don't seem to have the same type of reliability.

WafflePool... CleverMining... ? heck, check out poolpicker.eu
