Any thoughts on this post in the XC thread?... 26,000,000 of VRC mined in a few weeks. this mean someone do have a lot of VRC to dump, just don't get caught holding bags. I have seen the dump from 12s to 5s like nothing, it don't even need 1,000,000 VRC. I would be nervous to have any VRC right now.

Why is the money supply not showing through the getinfo com in the console ?
There is a bug in the money supply display we are working on, that has to do with our staking implementation. Should be back in next update. Block Explorer has correct supply: http://blocks.vericoin.info/. For this we used Abe you can look it up on github if you want to see how this supply was tabulated. |

We thought it would be fun to drop far after the launch of the coin so the early adopters could be rewarded for investing in such a cool coin. I've been disappointed in the lack of community behind the coin, however. With the pastebin crashing prices and only Rubber_Monkey/sdmathis taking the lead for PR/Marketing, barely anybody knows about VeriCoin. Our sub Reddit is empty. We aren't being tweeted about nearly enough. Nobody is talking about VRC in the Poloniex chatbox. People aren't pestering MintPal and Cryptsy to add us. These things need to change before we release any details. effectsToCause and I have put a LOT of our time and ideas into this coin. Right now it seems that not many people like them or care enough to help us get VeriCoin out into the world. If nobody cares, we could simply just sell off our ANON implementation to another coin that's willing to pay (XLB has a 7 BTC+ bounty for ANON for example). I'd rather see our coin grow. I want the community to form and start to get the word about VeriCoin out there. So here are some benchmarks I will be looking for before we release details about how VeriSend will work: I want to see the coin trading at 5000 satoshi. I don't care how it gets there. The value is WAY too low right now for a coin of this substance. I want to see people joining the Sub Reddit ( www.reddit.com/r/vericoin) and posting there. I want to see people talking about VeriCoin in the Poloniex Chat box. I want to see people talking about VeriCoin on twitter. I want to see people writing articles about VeriCoin on blogs and news sites. Get these done and you will see the most innovative/speedy/secure ANON system to ever be implemented into a cryptocurrency. Yeah threatening people to form a community or else you will sellout and make your coin worthless is a good way to start MINEMEPLS don't worry we are fully invested in VeriCoin, but we do need an extra active community and donations to launch the ANON with reserve balances for the nodes. We can do this all without a premine or IPO as we have already, but do need the community to help. To all those who stuck with us, thank you and let's push this up even higher! We will be testing different implentations of the technology including novel approaches until we find the right balance of security and efficiency. It will be an optional feature of the send dialog of the wallet. More details to come in the future after development advances.
My emphasis...are you saying that you are immediately implementing encrypted messaging or something more? Encrypted messaging and coin mixing. In development phase, not implementation yet, more details to follow as we progress. |

ok i missed something obviously I thought we were in PoS therefore how are we mining VRC?
Still in its infancy, the crypto world we R traveresing is a cyber-conundrum. The vast majority of people can't get their head around How BTC works. Those immersed in it R pressing on into the unknown creating code that's nebulous to all but those with IT and coding chops. Here's how I THINK! Vericoin is proceeding. POS is over. There is no publicly, active, mining going. Nor will there be. 26 Million Vericoin have been created. HOWEVER. Staking creates/mines coins to pay the interest on coins being staked. So the Block chain is being added too by this action Coins must be in Wallets to Stake. If U keep your wallet open it's good for the stability of the network and the coins "age/mature" and are awarded interest every 8 hours they remain in the wallet continuously. While staking, these coins cannot be spent/transferred. You can set a reserve in your wallet so you can ALWAYS have the number of coins that U may want to trade or spend available. The accounting of Spendable, Available, and unconfirmed is tracked by the wallet. If u open your wallet once a year U will receive the staking interest for all coins that have been in there for more than 8 hours. Then they will begin aging/maturing again. In the once a year scenario I believe (not sure) all the staked coins would then mature in 8 hours and pay interest For always Open Wallets: As Coins start aging when they arrive in your wallet, every 8 hours they remain there "Staking" they generate interest. All interest is compounded. It's virtually impossible to get all your vericoin to stake simultaneously. The VeriCoin MultipoolAll hash (scrypt or X11 only) pointed @ the MultiPool is managed by an algorithm which selects the most profitable coins to mine @ that time. The coins being mined are anonymous to everyone but the pool master. The spoils from mining will then be sold on the open market for BTC on the exchange offering the best price. The total resulting BTC will then be used to BUY Vericoin (again @ the best price) on the open market and then distributed to the share holders in the MultiPool. Payouts will be made @ an interval to be decided but more than once a day. All this will happen automatically once the algo for the Multipool is complete. Can U C the intricacies of coding that this algo requires? This is why it takes time and why we R lucky to have The Best Development Team in Cryptoworking tirelessly in the best interest of the Crypto Community to make this daunting piece of software known as Vericoin a true Masterpiece Dev's or anyone in the know please make me aware of any inaccuracies Nice explanation Kevondo! Interesting debate, one of the beauties of crypto is that it doesn't depend on big business or big government, and therefore in a way is apolitical. Regarding methods and strategy, both schools of thought are valid. Winning sprints means nothing if you lose the marathon, but you cannot win the marathon without winning most of the sprints. We are preparing for both with our best efforts, our next big sprint will be as soon as we launch the multipool. This big sprint will move us into a strong marathon position. The key point is we are invested in real progress, real growth, real success and we will succeed because we will not stop.

Keep wallet.dat and delete everthing else (best to backup wallet.dat too) 3. Install wallet: -Mac download wallet place anywhere and open it up, the block will sync, may take a little while (if first sync slows, restarting the client quickens it). -Windows Double click the installer, uncheck bootstrap.dat if you are currently up to date, otherwise leave it checked. If you leave the bootstrap checked it will hard load the new block, can take ~5 minutes |
