601  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: XBTec Announce. New ASIC manufacturer. on: August 24, 2014, 06:37:02 AM
In a game of who pays first, gets units first, exactly that happens.

They had hardware to sell and people bought it. Who bought it? We can only speculate.
602  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 24, 2014, 06:27:07 AM
BFL is a lost cause anyway, nobody in here treats them like real competition.

The only thing they are is a huge money sink for anyone who tries to invest with their hardware.

(And donīt get me started on their possibly illegal activities...)

603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 24, 2014, 05:48:25 AM
I donīt think encouraging ASIC manufacturers building a farm is helping out the mining ecosystem.

Quite simply put, private mining would be dead if only one large scale manufacturer remained who is willing to sell to smaller customers.

Building a large farm also binds a lot of capital, which would be much needed in R&D aswell as increasing production in the meantime.

To keep up with ASIC development, you would need to raise additional capital somehow, and that wouldnīt neccessarily benefit the smaller miners either.
604  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 23, 2014, 01:24:34 PM

That's nice that they offered you compensation because most us us have been offered nothing yet...
I guess big orders have priority over "meaningless" small orders
There might have been a misunderstanding here.

Everybody has been offered compensation by spondoolies, but spondoolies will start contacting people after next week about their different choices of compensation.
605  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Someone is sending fake Bitmaintech emails with attached wallet stealer on: August 23, 2014, 07:39:40 AM
jar files are java executable, donīt download it (there is only a very small amount of software that is actually a jar, and you would rememer ordering such a software).

This has happened with several spoofed email adresses of hardware manufacturers, so it is more likely the actual email list was leaked on another platform
(or that all email adresses from these manufacturers are stored in an unsafe way)
606  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive SpondooliesTech SP30 Setup [HD] on: August 23, 2014, 07:34:42 AM
Can this unit be turned off and on easily? For example, can the power be turned off and on without issue during a power outage or just because you wanted it off for a couple hours? Would you need to initialize anything and set it up again, or would it seamlessly start where it left off? Thanks!

Sure,  I don't see why not.
I donīt see any major problems with that, but the question arises: Why would you want to periodically turn a 4.5TH miner off?

Booting is done in less than a minute, and if you had a pool entered before the power went off, it will continue mining to that pool.
607  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: XBTec Announce. New ASIC manufacturer. on: August 23, 2014, 07:30:50 AM
My guess is the available pacifics were bought by a bigger customer, hence not much chatter on here about it.

Might be mistaken though.
608  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 23, 2014, 06:04:55 AM
There is no need to red-post the spondoolies thread to get the attention of jtoomim.

If you want a quick reply, emailing or skyping should be perfectly sufficient.

That being said, I am sure they will do their very best to give you a good hosting experience.
609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 22, 2014, 08:12:00 PM
BitFury doesn't open a new 20MW DC every month.
Both BitFury and Bitmaintech are at extremely low margins with their current tech.

Correct, they don't build one every month. They build one every two months.

What makes you say that? They've only built one 20MW DC afaik.
There seems to have been a pattern of datacenter deployment, the previous one was in georgia (I believe) and the last one in Iceland.

Estimations suggest Bitfury will approach an internal cost similar to just buying miners very soon, unless they get going on a higher fab node quickly.
(and by that I mean receive chips, but apparently that wonīt be the case)

This might lead to a slow-down of bitfury hardware being deployed.

For anyone that doesnīt know:

As far as I can tell, grcooling is a form of immersion cooling, utilizing a "standard" 1-phase cooling liquid.
611  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Spondooles SP30 & SP31 on: August 20, 2014, 08:21:18 PM

1000 a month?  That is quite a bit.  Good to know.  I don't remember where but someone was saying that they pre-mine with it before shipping but I highly doubt that.  They seem like a fairly legit company from the sounds of it.

As far as I can tell, they are one of the best manufacturers out there.

Some people always suspect a manufacturer to mine with customer units, but as 1000*3kW would mean having a 3MW facility just for premining, and power isnīt exactly cheap in Israel, I highly doubt that.

They can also make a much bigger profit by simply increasing their production, than bothering to mine on those machines.

To my understanding, spondoolies only has one 1 MW facility, and most of it is already in use by customer units (for hosted mining).
612  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Spondooles SP30 & SP31 on: August 20, 2014, 08:08:55 PM

Have they been late for Batch 1 and September Batch 2?

As far as I can tell spondoolies has always shipped on time.

The comment was more meant in general, you cannot predict how the mining competition will look like in 1.5 months, and buying in-stock hardware gives you better numbers to calculate with.

Bitmain might have their S4 ready with ~0.5W/GH, and it might be at a better price aswell.
Bitfury might break their pattern and build one datacenter of 20-30PH a month starting next week, and significantly bump the difficulty.
AM seems to be selling a lot of hardware and might get their franchising going.....

That being said, spondoolies is only building around ~1000 of their miners per month, and as they are quite in demand, pre-ordering is most likely the only way to ensure receiving one.
613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 20, 2014, 08:06:13 PM
Also, nominal power is always 12V power, so it is at least 10% more at the wall.
614  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 20, 2014, 08:40:57 AM

what the hell do you mean scheduled to ship last !? I didn't see anything in the group buy info stating we would received our machines in September due to them being most discounted...

By scheduled to ship last I meant spondoolies is honoring the shipping qeue, however many units were ordered before the groupbuy even existed, e.g the farmers choice bundle.

Obviously some units were also ordered after the GB, and they will of course ship after the groupbuy units.

Sorry for miscommunicating here, I guess spondoolies has already clarified this.

Also, how did you come up with September? All August units will be shipped in August.
615  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 20, 2014, 07:07:37 AM

10 days
Actually, around 10-20 days.

Additionally discount weekends and Sundays, you are at 13-26 days.

Allow for first bulk chips to be shipped around the 7th of August and voila, it works out to whole August production.

616  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [interest check] Group funded Co-location in ohio 0.02-059/kwh & petahash farm on: August 20, 2014, 06:23:53 AM
Consider this:

electrical bildout cost is quite high on a MW facility, I would calculate fans + electrical work at atleast 0.3$/W.
617  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITCRANE ANNOUNCES BITCOIN MINER T-110 (Batch II available now $1299) on: August 20, 2014, 06:20:50 AM
@bitcrane
Your link has an error in it.

Glad to see a more realistic pricing (although still quite high).
618  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 20, 2014, 06:10:14 AM
So there will definitely be another difficulty rise before our SP30's ship :*(

No it won't! SP30 will ship next week.
This.

Also, spondoolies hasnīt been sitting idle and have been shipping and producing miners for most of August now.

As stated, the groupbuy units were the most discounted as they were ordered late into the batch, and as such will ship late.

Spondoolies has over 1000 units ordered for the 2 August batches, and producing them between 50-100 units a day takes time (- weekends etc.)

619  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S3 Hosting on: August 20, 2014, 05:55:21 AM
+1 for sidehackīs hosting service, an S3 would cost you around 35$/m, plus he will also sell you his reliable server PSU kits (and connect it to your miner for you).
620  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AMT 2U 1.25th rack mount miners on: August 20, 2014, 05:50:57 AM
Also, what is the point of a 2-u rack mountable miner when you cannot stack aka rack it?
Obviously, donīt buy from AMT...
