623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cross Check Points - Blockchain of blockchains - ByteSt@mp [DATACOIN] on: February 23, 2015, 02:05:42 PM

i guess another problem is that in the event of a minor occurence of two split chains.
when both chains meet and sort themselves out, the hash from the wrong chain could end up being stored.

i'm looking for a quick walkthrough on how to withdraw UNITY from bter once i can ..

is it preferable to use the UNITY client or doesnt matter. i'd prefer to use something stable so i'm not fussed about any need to update.

Oh oh now we are bagholders for eternity  Roll Eyes

Edit: We still have lazycoins. We still have a change.

Maybe I sent some Btc to there to create buy- support. Hope Barry come more online to give us some updates with what he's actually doing.

I have 1 important question for Barry. Do you continue with the growshop?

and https://coin-swap.net/market/GROW/BTC

pah shop's dead.

what does this mean. lol

It means that Barry stole 5 BTC, that is what it mean. And i hope to find this guy so that he refunds everybody.

lol yu're such mad pnd troll

at some point i was interested in yr interest in revitalising some coins. but now i cant see any other reason for you than self interest.
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CONTEST - ArtsyCoin Coin Icon Design challenge with PRIZES! on: February 22, 2015, 03:57:26 AM

these are quite nice Smiley

i have the idea (but am lacking in the skillz) to have the outside circle as a brush stroke comnig from the brush.
possibly having part of the A also as the brush stroke with the brush forming the complete A

                              @
is kind of close . lol but the capital A is probably preferable

someone is using data coin currently to store recent checkpoints for btc in the dtc blockchain.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=955473.0

perhaps DTC chain could be utilised as a means to store further information for the ASY poe .
of course this does beg the question of why not put everything in teh DTC chain. but hey, why even have ASY in the first place Smiley

cross chain information seems like an interesting idea.

In the case of a JPG or similar document for PoE you would be signing with a hash of the document. Some people would want the image public, some maybe not. A site could be created that references back to the transaction correlating to the document and that document could be posted on the site at the discretion of the artist. This would work great for a reference site to prove ownership and would also work great for a site that sells content too.

631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: February 19, 2015, 12:16:39 PM
the cross chain use for datacoin makes me consider Proof of Existence.
with DTC you could both lodge a hash of the document and also some version of the document/whatever as well.

possibly placing the PoE in BTC (for example) and the file in DTC
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cross Check Points - Blockchain of blockchains - ByteSt@mp [DATACOIN] on: February 19, 2015, 12:03:07 PM
what it needs is a reliable copy of the BTC blockchain that matches the DTC input.
one or two nodes .

it'd be pretty funny if there was a succesful attack, and all that was left of the "real" chain was a few hashes in DTC.

i have recently been reading that op_return is a more useful way of storing data in the BTC chain.
gives 40 bits of data, and is not held in memory as an unspent transaction.

you could create a basic system for further data enhancement.
eg
1st bit  - general classification
2nd bit - items for sale or just display
3rd bit on -  web address

It would be great to leverage existing efforts in this area such as:

http://www.iconclass.nl/home

This classification system could be used as part of the data for the transaction as part of the signing and/or as part of enhancement.

hehe i knew someone would have developed some classification scheme like that. i'd hate to have to start from scratch Cheesy

i imagine you probably  could use something a tad simpler than --
Classification System: 28,000 hierarchically ordered definitions divided into ten main divisions. Each definition consists of an alphanumeric classification code (notation) and the description of the iconographic subject (textual correlate). The definitions are used to index, catalogue and describe the subjects of images represented in works of art, reproductions, photographs and other sources.

Can someone explain to me the staking for Bean am a little confused, thinking of buying a few..  Smiley..

You need to wait 6 hours for staking. Staking reward is 1000 beans (every minute).

As far as I know it depends on luck, however during last 6 hours I had about 5 time reward.

is it based on stake weighting and uses age as a modifier ?

Min and Max stake weight is 6 hours so block solving frequency is more dependent on number of coins and less on total stake weight. Also the modifier doesn't determine the percentage return.  the stake return is fixed at 1000 coins.

seems the staking advantage then is to have large inputs.
although looking at the explorer seems a reasonably % of low value inputs are managing to stake   https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bitb/

strange that my inputs of > 25k are not staking ..
edit. lol, perhaps it has to do with my daemon being stopped Cheesy

another thought regarding PoE

it might be handy having a site of documents entered . where it's easy to confirm document (of whatever form) against poe.
plausibly it could be a "thumbnail" version.

eg
i enter a jpg into the blockchain using PoE.
that information also points to a site hosting a public copy of that jpg.

obviously some documents entered may be a tad large and so make large scale hosting annoying.
so the hosting site may instead feature a smaller version (with appropriate PoE) linked to the large scale PoE

(Any nice art for the paperwallet btw? )

how about the possibility of inserting one's own jpg ?

lol i just thought of an amusing idea.

the ability to embed links in the chain. with an expanded explorer (somewhere, possibly in wallet) showing those links.
such that i may link my art into the chain itself.

edit :
after a small amount of research the use of OP_return seems far more efficient and useful.

one of the important factors being data sent using addresses add load on nodes, as they are held in memory as un-spent transactions, whilst op_returns are not.

the simple version would be similar to http://www.cryptograffiti.info/
where arbitrary information can be hashed into an address, then a deposit into that address will enter it into the blockchain.

using a bit.ly shortened address is still long enough to require two addresses (+1 for expenses on cryptograffiti)
i assume a specialised site could automate something to shorten that.

eg http://bit.ly/17cNLYu
shorten to
bit.ly/17cNLYu

anything starting with "bit" would be fairly obvious.

although relying on bit.ly maybe problematic ??

---
only using the address for data entry gives you 20 bits (at least on cryptograffiti - i assume this would be true for any such process)

you could create a basic system for further data enhancement.
eg
1st bit  - general classification
2nd bit - items for sale or just display
3rd bit on -  web address
