621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance to delist these 12 privacy coins in these eu countries from June 26 on: June 26, 2023, 11:27:18 AM
An update about this[1]. It looks like Binance is reversing its decision to delist privacy coins. It's unclear from the article whether all the projects are going to remain, or only a few of them but a few projects already stated that they're not getting delisted.

622  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is considered good collateral these days? on: June 25, 2023, 01:45:53 PM
I wouldn't consider anything on this list valid collateral. I don't think anyone cares about KYC, since people can buy these, probably for less than 900$. It's about the ability to sell the collateral if necessary.

So if lend you 900$ and you decide to not repay me, can I resell the Coinbase account for 900$? obviously not.

Verified accounts are probably riskier than anything else because if the account is verified using your real identity, you can always claim it back.
623  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Canadian debit on-ramps? on: June 25, 2023, 08:27:24 AM
AFAIK, most exchanges pretty much use the same third party to provide on and off-ramp services. KuCoin, Bitget, Binance, ByBit, etc. all seem to use Simplex or Banxa so there's probably not that much difference between them.

How about using Interac-e or Wire transfers? Not an option?
624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How to send money (USDT) to capitalwallet from Mercury Bank from USA? on: June 24, 2023, 08:36:05 PM
Hi. No - I am not promoting anything. According to your involvement I guess capitalwallet is not trustworthy. They work like this: Broker shows me ther USDT account number linked to them - I deposit USDT to that account. There is no need to open an account as far as I know (Because it shows me a spesific USDT address). Does not matter where I purchase USDT from - it is what I know. With account I mean USDT address.

I'm not saying they're scammers. I haven't tried them myself so I could definitely be wrong, but it's just the way that the user was promoting them.

But the way you described this whole process sounds like the service you want to deposit funds to, is just using Capital wallet as a payment processor so I don't think you would have any issues in that case (if you trust this broker you're referring to)
625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How to send money (USDT) to capitalwallet from Mercury Bank from USA? on: June 24, 2023, 07:41:27 PM
I'm not sure if this is just your way to promote Capitalwallet like this user did a few months back[1] or if you really want to know, but assuming the latter, do you trust whoever you're sending the funds to? What do you mean by they allow capital wallet for payments? Do you need to make an account there and deposit funds? or you're paying for a service that uses Capitalwallet as a payment processor?

Now regarding your second question. If you're from Turkey, you can just make an account on OKX, and buy using your card. Or if you want to use wire transfers, you can try their P2P platform.

For those who are using Wirexapp: the company issued a statement[1] about possible outages in the EEA because the Lithuanian central bank revoked the license of UAB PayrNet (Wirex card provider).

627  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase: I can't withdraw my funds via PayPal on: June 24, 2023, 12:38:06 PM
Yes, I think this is it. But I can't figure out what, since I've apparently never violated the regulation.
-snip-

Since this is related to your crypto deposit, it's probably because the funds are connected (and I could be wrong) to a mixer, a gambling site, etc. It doesn't necessarily have to be a direct connection either so maybe you received funds from someone who dealt with the services I mentioned.
628  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase: I can't withdraw my funds via PayPal on: June 24, 2023, 05:34:42 AM
I don't use Coinbase but what are the errors you're getting when trying to withdraw to an external address? I would imagine they at least sent you an email explaining why your account got blocked and the steps to follow to unlock it.
Usually, when an exchange does that, it's because they detected suspicious activity with your transactions or account.  Have you tried calling them?
629  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does anyone know what this field in Blockchain.info API means? on: June 23, 2023, 07:07:12 PM
That's pretty weird, why would they return a value that has no practical use to users?
-snip-

I would imagine it's because they also use that on their site.

It's a shame though, the API seven only seems to support only Bitcoin mainnet, and legacy addresses at that (eg. It returns the size but not the vsize which uses vbytes).

I know that Blockchair supports both testnet and segwit addresses but the limits may not be the best. Have you looked into these alternatives?[1]

630  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum and Taproot import on: June 23, 2023, 08:50:47 AM
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that Electrum support generating Taproot addresses, there's also no mention of it in the Changelog with the exception of this:

   - bitbox02: bump bitbox02 to 6.0, support send-to-taproot (#7693)
631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto swaps on: June 22, 2023, 06:21:36 PM
Take a look at these two lists[1][2].

For the second one, although most services listed there don't require KYC to trade, they might ask you to verify your identity if they ever detect a "suspicious activity".

632  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Does anyone know what this field in Blockchain.info API means? on: June 22, 2023, 01:29:35 PM
According to these answers[1] and assuming nothing has changed since then, it's just something they use internally, so you probably shouldn't be using that in your applications.

633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with transaction display. on: June 22, 2023, 12:16:13 PM
Since this is not bitcoin related, please move this to "Service discussion (altcoins)" board.

As for the problem you're facing, then could you tell us which wallet you're using? Is it an exchange? If so, then you should contact their support because they are the only ones who can help you in this situation.
634  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Generating offline seed Electrum on: June 22, 2023, 09:10:17 AM
Please, can anyone point to a release note that Electrum is no more supporting Windows 8.1? The last I knew was last year for Windows 7.

-snip-

I checked them, and there are no mentions about it but since only Win10 is being tested, it's very possible that there are some unreported compatibility issues with Win8.1 (assuming OP is using a recent version).
635  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Generating offline seed Electrum on: June 22, 2023, 08:41:41 AM
Which version are you using? If it's older than 4.2.1, you can Right-click the .exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7. Although I'm not sure why it's not working for 8.1:

# Release 4.2.1 - (March 26, 2022)
* Binaries:
   - Windows: we are dropping support for Windows 7. (#7728)
Version 4.2.0 already unintentionally broke compatibility with
Win7 and there is no easy way to restore and maintain support.
Existing users can keep using version 4.1.5 for now, but should
consider upgrading or changing their OS.
Win8.1 still works but only Win10 is regularly tested.

If this doesn't help, you can either downgrade your Electrum or, If you just want to generate the seed, you can also use a USB stick and run a LiveCD Linux.
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has Bitcoin suddenly jumped above $30,000? - 06/21/23 on: June 21, 2023, 08:13:01 PM
It looks like this has something to do with the fact that more companies (big names) are applying for Bitcoin ETFs (Invesco, and Wisdom Tree)[1]. And there is also the EDX market news (new exchange backed by wall street) which we've seen yesterday[2]

637  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / D'cent 50$ discount code on: June 21, 2023, 07:09:45 AM
I have a D'Cent hardware wallet discount code (50$) which I just bought from Coingecko.

For more info about the code, or if you're interested in getting yourself (limited supply) you can check this link: https://www.coingecko.com/account/rewards/dcent-biometric-wallet?locale=en

I only have one code, and I'm willing to give it to the first reputable member to post here. Preferably to someone who's interested in reviewing the wallet.
638  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance to integrate lightning network on: June 20, 2023, 05:35:22 PM
I'm surprised to see that tweet. I was really expecting them to cancel their plans to implement LN after the fees lowered, especially when they're always trying to push their own version of BTC (WBTC).

It would be interesting to see if they're going to charge any extra fees for this.

Time will tell. I think the biggest issue is the technicalities behind using Lightning network. I as someone who knows something about Bitcoin already faces a lot of challenges teaching newbies about Bitcoin and how it works which seems so direct, now imagine going further to teach them about LN

I agree, but if I had to guess, I would say that most LN users are probably using custodial services like Exodus or Wallet of Satoshi instead of Electrum, Zap, etc.

I would also imagine that once this is implemented, Binance Academy will start writing articles to help educate its users.
639  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CEX that offers international USD SWIFT WIRE transfers offramp on: June 20, 2023, 04:47:20 PM
nexo.com claims to offer free swift USD withdrawals but not sure if i trust those lending platforms to stay up longer than it takes for them to do a withdrawal. Really there are no other options now that Binance doesn't process bank wires?

I can't vouch for Nexo, but I know they have been around for many years.

But if this is what you're referring to: https://nexo.how/kb/how-do-i-withdraw-eurx-gbpx-and-usdx-from-my-nexo-account/

Then if you ever decide to try them, I advise you to be careful. From my understanding (and I could be wrong) USDx, EURx, etc. are stablecoins that I personally never heard of (and I doubt anyone else here did either) so it might be a good idea to just trade your coins, and withdraw. It's already not advisable to keep your funds in exchange, so doing so using an unknown stablecoin does not really help.
640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core not updating my bitcoin balance on: June 20, 2023, 04:32:29 PM
Hi,
I am new to bitcoin core and confused about something. My bitcoin core 2 application on my mac is fully synced, but my bitcoin balance on the overview page of the application is not updating based on the new price of bitcoin. Why is that? Is my application still running properly? Thanks.

What do you mean exactly by that? It should show you the bitcoin value. So whether 1 BTC is 25k or 45k... It should show you 1 BTC either way and as far as I can remember, there's no display for USD (or any other fiat) currently.

Now, if you think the final balance in BTC does not reflect your transactions, then that's another problem. You can start by trying to check your addresses in a block explorer and see if the balances match or not.
