I know this is not very Noble but I just bought little over 1600 votes on https://www.mintpal.com/voting  Grin Grin
Just waiting for conf
Anybody else wants to join me ?
really sorry to see that.....i can't believe people find it normal to buy vote..... Cry we where 5k votes, way ahead with no bought, there is no point for me to continue voting there, for Noble does mine something, right?
Will say, sometimes others feel a different type of necessity to give a coin the recognition that it deserves. But just because it is acted on, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. We can still continue proceeding on. Just because someone wanted to vote for NOBLE with BTC doesn't mean that there is a bad slant or a good slant. It just means for that person, he/she believes in the value of a coin and is truly willing to invest in it (in a way, "putting their money where their mouth is"). Continue voting for NOBLE! It really will continue to have a bright future!
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vietnam either bans BTC or issues advisory about it. on: February 28, 2014, 06:25:12 PM
If you guys havent known yet..... Vietnam is more or less China's bitch. Their policy is actually exactly tied with China's. Hence they treat bitcoin exactly how Chinese Goverment stated " no financial institutions can use bitcoin, dont blantly say bitcoin is illegal, just not legal tender,.... and warn ppl not to trade bitcoins as its risky"

EXACT WORDS for WORDS from China state bank.

Vietnam can be arguably just a colony of China.

In terms of political policy, this is very true.

But a lot of people in Vietnam are loathe regarding that relation. (Hence the move to other countries.) But they still want to provide for family in their home country and that's what they try to do when they visit. Sure it's unsavory to receive money from family residing in another country, but they'll always do that.
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vietnam either bans BTC or issues advisory about it. on: February 28, 2014, 05:53:49 PM
Vietnam is a dead end state with a dead end economy.  It is a non event.  The success of Bitcoin on the global stage is going to be defined by the actions of the major economies and Vietnam isn't even in the top 50.

In terms of the markets, I agree.

But in terms of adoption of Bitcoins, and Crypto-currencies in general, and increasing it's global prevalence and penetration, I think garnering its use in countries where it is already cost-prohibitive and difficult to send money (having to use services like WU and Bank-Transfers with even more corrupt banks) would behoove the community.

For a lot of these countries, a lot of their ex-pats are living in countries with major economies but have significant amount of family in their country of birth. Taking a two-prong approach in convincing people in both countries goes a go a long way in the adoption of Bitcoin.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin got it's own segment on The Daily Show on: February 28, 2014, 05:32:05 PM
Admittedly, when I saw this, I saw it more of a neutral slant on BTC and the usual negative slant on Big Banking.

Sure there was a bit of misinformation, but as is the case for a lot of the Daily Show, that's not their primary source of news. In fact, in a study, a lot of viewers are fairly well-informed and they actually question some of the segments on a regular basis. If this effect happens with Bitcoins, in the end, I find it much more positive than negative.
625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exposm does a comic on Bitcoin on: February 28, 2014, 05:20:11 PM
Okay, this is pretty damn hilarious.

And once again, yay! More publicity!!!

This seriously may be one of my favorite Cyanide & Happiness strips in a long time.
626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Oh, I can't believe a magical, made up currency didn't work out" on: February 28, 2014, 05:09:19 PM
Sure it's bad news, but you heard it on a radio show...and well, let's face it a lot of those people have drunk a different type of kool-aid.

I mean really, have you heard all of the drivel on those types of pop-radio shows?

I say it's fine; it gives additional penetration for Bitcoin. Those who are part of the squalor would've continued to remain in the dark about it regardless. On the other hand, those who actually take time to research (and are usually more successful and are what the community needs more), will have a decent chance of adopting Bitcoin in some fashion.

I will say, all of the coins that have more than 30k votes have all had at least 1 BTC sent. In fact the only coin with a lot of votes that doesn't fall into the BTC wave (i.e. 20k +) is Grumpycoin (with less than .2 BTC sent). Sure it might be annoying that for MintPal they are essentially running a buy-your-way in scheme, but if the community is responsive and active enough just voting, I don't see why NOBLE can't get to the top too.

After all, if 50 people (which we've got to have) vote 6 times per hour and does this 8 times a day, in a week, we would have over 20k total votes too!

Sure that may be a little optimistic, but at the same time, it shows that we don't need to buy our way in to get results.

[As a note, I've been voting as much as I can.]
628  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The Coinbase Scam on: February 28, 2014, 03:34:57 PM
I have used coinbase a lot. Once your bank account info is confirmed and your limits are setup you can buy up to $1,000.00 instantly and immediately transfer it out. I just did it earlier in the week when BTC was down around $500.
Precisely this. I bought 2.25 BTC when the price dipped for a few minutes to ~$440 and immediately moved it out (as in 15 seconds after purchasing).

A lot of the time, I notice that it is people that just started an account that have an issue with the buy/sell procedures of Coinbase. I've done transactions with them for over a year and I'm yet to have any issue with them.

Getting your account to level 2 is a wonderful thing and is totally worth it.
629  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where do you store most of your btcs? on: February 28, 2014, 03:20:18 PM
If I had a significant amount more BTC, I'd say that I've stored most of my BTCs in cold storage.

Unfortunately, I like moving my money around and playing the alt-markets. But this is all money that is okay for me to lose. The BTC that I do have in cold storage, those really are meant to be saved. Maybe at some point I'll shift more back into cold storage, but I'm fine with having as much as I have in various hot wallets.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It Seems that Cyberpower PC Is Stepping Into the Crypto-Scene on: February 28, 2014, 02:55:29 PM
I don't think that this is a good thing. Mining is not for the average Joe, at least not mining scrypt coins. There are too many people without proper knowledge trying to get rich quickly by mining. That is not going to happen.
Although this gives us more adoption. They should start accepting BTC as a payment.

Yeah, it's a very tricky line. Adoption versus technical know-how.

I could imagine a bunch of people getting a mining rig and something going wrong as they attempt to start mining. Whether it is from the hardware side, or from the volatility of the markets and possible incoming scams.

When they see something like "I can make how much?" that automatically increases the susceptibility.

The positive slant is that this will spark some added attention to Bitcoins and the general crypto-currency scene. The way markets react to it and whatnot, that's a completely different story.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It Seems that Cyberpower PC Is Stepping Into the Crypto-Scene on: February 28, 2014, 02:52:20 PM
Apparently, it seems that Cyberpower PC is now offering setups for mining. I mean it's not like you couldn't get a rig and customize it for mining before, but the fact that they've created a "Mega Miner Series" is pretty damn intriguing...

I looked at their setups, and I can't really say that it's all too worth it, but the fact that this will get people wondering and possibly talking about mining is pretty cool.

What do you guys think about a major computer outlet offering "Mining Rigs?"

On one hand it's good that they offer something for the marketplace, on the other hand these really aren't dedicated machines for mining with all the accessories (dvd drive, 1tb storage, etc).  With no option to pay via bitcoin or other cryptocurrency, it doesn't look like they are really backing the industry, but just looking for a new market to expose. What I think is missing right now is a re-seller that is putting together a high Mh/s machine stripped down for dedicated mining. It's still a "build it yourself" market with stability issues to contend with.

I'm currently looking for scrypt-machines to buy myself too (more than 4mh/s), as I don't really want to build them, but will if I have to.

Yeah, this is very true. It lacks the cost-effectiveness of a DIY sCrypt mining rig along with a including a ton of bells and whistles. One could say the only effectual reason to get one is for resale value in the future.

And I agree, they may be riding the wave of the mining boom. But at least it's added publicity.

633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fincern Liable for Mtgox customer Losses on: February 28, 2014, 04:48:20 AM
i wouldn't mind if fincen bailed out mtgox. not likely though

For some reason seeing the words "bailed out" and "Mt. Gox" in that close of a proximity makes me cringe.

Naturally, I wouldn't mind if there was a way to get all the people that got goxxed what they deserve, but bailing out Mt. Gox would be an absolute travesty in my eyes.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What features make an alt coin good and of high quality? on: February 28, 2014, 04:45:46 AM
Want to make a great alt coin? Then actually create one!

No forks, or clones, or stuff like that. Design a unique protocol, design a unique monetary supply, and create unique key features.

But then again, you could just make it meme-tastic and you may have tons of people flock to it...
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MTGOX [GOX] for sale! on: February 28, 2014, 04:43:10 AM
Because who doesn't want to buy-in to even more insolvency? Yay!

This is just like that company that was taking money to buy Mt. Gox Bitcoins. There's always some amazingly fascinating stuff.

637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin callendar on: February 27, 2014, 04:54:25 PM
Well this kinda cool.  Four feet is kinda big for my printer though.

Hehe Smiley I even do not think to print it @ my home device Tongue

It need to be done by pro printers Smiley

so u say 4 feet? 6 feet? Smiley
121.92 cm or 182.88cm
it seems reasonable Smiley

I so want to have it already on my wall!!! Omg ...

I'd say minimum 4 feet to make it legible in a average sized bedroom (8 ft x 10 ft).

6 feet if you want to scribble notes attached do different days.
638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin callendar on: February 27, 2014, 03:33:22 PM
Wow. This is pretty nice! Print a nice large poster size of this and stick it to my wall!

Indeed it is!! I am just trying to figure out - what size of a printout should it be done to make it looks good on a wall? and to make all of the dates visible? Smiley

what you think?

I personally think somewhere around starting around 4 feet to get visibility and possibly 6 feet to scribble legible things on it. Then again, you could go with the 4 feet and tack on sticky notes.
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin symbol positioning on: February 27, 2014, 03:27:29 PM
Definitely after. Especially that you could also use BTC / mBTC, which would be confusing to add before the amount.

So
- 1.23 BTC
- 10 mBTC
- etc.

Poll results will be skewed though, because probably most people here come from the US, where you place the dollar sign before the amount Wink.

I tend to agree with this since we apply scientific notation to the usage of BTC.

Part of me though says if we use a symbol like in accounting purposes we place it before, but if we use the abbreviation BTC, we use it after. After all, I don't see many people writing mBTC.

So we would have BTC1.2345 and BTC0.0401.
And we would have 1.2345 BTC and 40.1 mBTC.

Although...We could solve part of this conundrum by just creating a unique symbol for a satoshi. But then we'd have an issue with symbol placement again. After all, we but the $ before, but the ¢ after...

Gah! Undecided
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins of 2014 and Their Future on: February 27, 2014, 05:05:59 AM
Well, a lot of the first alts started out of one of the following 3 rifts: Economic theory, Protocol Diversity, or Mining Resistance.

As you can tell, the primary one that shook out was Mining Resistance: i.e. Litecoin (sure we can talk about Tene/Fairbrix, but we won't).

So the first major fork in the scene came about from the concern of FPGA/ASIC impact on mining. And that was the original point of the alt-coins.

That said, after the first wave of investment during 2013 came along a bunch of forks and clones and what not. And that's what's stuck (whether it's for better or worse).

Personally, I see these alts as a double-edged sword for the crypto-currency community. One can't deny the amount of added publicity that it provides. But on the other hand, the pump and dumps that have become an ingrained factor in the alt-scene have burned a lot of people and in turn increases the reticence towards crypto-currencies.
