661  Other / Meta / Re: A way to combat useless 'Newbie' questions! on: October 06, 2017, 07:53:07 AM
I would have to say that the amount of useless questions being posted by newbies is just way too much and they are also creating threads to ask their dumb questions - this of course invites signature campaign spammers and everything goes downhill after that.

Some of these questions include:

- "How do I increase my activity?"

- "Can I skip ranks?"

- "I can't post images - help" (posted by a newbie for example...)

And the list just goes on and on....

I would suggest to the forum that maybe if we forced newbies to read the threads underneath before they posted anything, it might help reduce the number of these useless questions.

Newbies - Read before posting -- Posted by Lauda

Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ -- Posted by mprep

By 'forced' I mean that after a newbie has created an account, he or she would be re-directed to the 2 threads that they would have to spend a certain number of minutes on to 'read' the text and acknowledge that they have done so. Until then, the rest of the forum will be closed for them. While this does not guarantee that the user will actually READ these threads, it will certainly help out a few people who are truly interested in the forum. For those who continue to post these useless questions, it will become obvious who has not paid any attention to the rules.

It might just be a dumb idea after-all, but please share your thoughts about this.

I actually like this idea, i think with this solution newbie spammers will have a place to read at it first. I think the addition for this is the certain time that they should be online on that certain thread which a lot of info about the general info/help  about bitcoin and bitcoin talk forum I love the idea!.
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 06, 2017, 07:51:05 AM
I think it is , it is really risky specially bitcoin's price is volatile you should study trading first and the movement of price ( which is really hard to do) it will take a lot of time for you to master this. But one piece of advice. Don't do it. Maybe do it when the price is stable (maybe in the future but who knows).
663  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I stop Buying BTC? on: October 06, 2017, 02:46:20 AM
Should I stop buying BTC for above market value or should I start paying the listed price? I support Bitcoin and still pay 5k a BTC does anyone see bitcoin going back up?
No you shouldn't, Continue on buying, or you could play a little at price on trading for you to gain a little profit from it. Yes it is true that bitcoin is on uptrend but you should also know that here are some casual dump happening around the world, with that you can have a chance to buy bitcoin at low price and sell it on a high price.
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOW TO SPOT A WINNING ICO on: October 06, 2017, 02:00:26 AM
I 've been trying to find out all the things that would lead me to spot the wining ICO, meaning an ICO that will not just enter a the platforms to make a quick buck.

An ICO I can really HODL.

I have gathered the below up to now:

  • The founders are working on something great, with details on their design and their roadmap.
  • The founders are not worried with deadlines, but are making changes when necessary to ensure the safety of their project.
  • The founders know their project of by heart. They can answer logical questions. They love it when people ask them about their project and the details of the development.
  • The founders could be promising the world, but not tomorrow. If they are promising you to become rich tomorrow, something looks bad.

New points from other members:
  • Competent development team is the most important rule. Ideas are not enough. There should be good devs to build around those ideas. That is main rule.
  • ICO's with a low or reasonable market cap and ICO's that have set a max cap.
  • [it could apply sometimes] The winning icos will be having a large of the communities that will always try to monitoring the development process of the project that was including about the crowdsale too.
  • Truly wining ICO gets a news coverage on the media.
  • The ICO softcap is fulfilled ahead of time.
  • If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Projects with an existing product, could look more promising, but people could be less likely to invest. It all has to do, at which stage their project is running and where they want to take it.

Looking forward to enhance my list. I will add your ideas to the above list.

I think you must prioritize first is the VISION and FEASIBILITY of this project, and also check out the DEVELOPMENT them and their social media accounts ( they should have) and also the people involved ( it should be clear that this people are involved) a lot of photos of "development team" "Coaches" "counselors" have been edited and just got from image hosting sites.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The head of Mexico commented on bitcoin on: October 05, 2017, 09:25:40 AM
Agustin Carstens, head of the National Bank of Mexico, said about bitcoin. Karstens said that bitcoin is more of a commodity than a currency, and added that he does not have anything to ensure his accounting in the financial system. According to him, since bitcoin is not supported by either the government or the Bank of Mexico, it does not fall under the existing currency definitions. In addition, he warned about the problem of cybersecurity and stressed that the safety of users should be ensured. Finally, he noted that the authorities will soon propose legislation regulating financial technologies, such as crypto-currencies. Smiley
The head of the National Bank of Mexico took Bitcoin in a legal way and what would be it's future when it comes to the law and policies of a certain country, as for me this is not a threat or another FUD news but rather a good take on what Government and Law of a certain country will take bitcoin on the future.

671  Economy / Economics / Re: How to Win at Bitcoin and other cryptos on: October 03, 2017, 07:16:49 AM
So many discussions on trading, holding, mining, whats the right one? I can only speak from experience:

1. Mindset - First, you need to be in the mindset that public blockchains will change the world. In the future digital-cryptographic-based assets will be the most sought after of all asset classes. Once you get here, you are no longer frightened by the next negative news story or public condemnation.
(if you don't believe this and can't stick to it, then perhaps this is not the space for you)

2. Start with Bitcoin, it should always be your primary holding. Once you get more comfortable expand into the other well known cryptos (ETH, LTC).

3. Set up a portfolio with at least 50% in BTC, 30% in ETH/LTC and the rest in perhaps 3-5 other cryptos that you believe in and follow. Make sure to do your homework as the risk goes up exponentially as you move down the market cap ladder.

4. Have a long term horizon, 5 years +, if needed trade out of your 3-5 positions back into the top 3 cryptos depending on market conditions, but never leave the market completely.

5. Figure out how much money you need to be happy, lets say $120,000 a year. If that's the case then you would need to have $3M equivalent of crypto in order withdraw an upper limit 4% a year. This way you have your cake and eat it too.

6. You can start selling your BTC when 4% of your holdings will give a retirement-like lifestyle, while at the same time staying vested in a top tier asset class. Don't forget about taxes, hold over a year and pay only capital gains.

7. You Win!
Apparently, this is what i need right now, thanks for this. Number should be really prioritizes, If you have a wrong mindset, you will get everything wrong in cryptocurrency. I think we should add Strong Emotion, as we all know, a lot of people have a weak emotional and easily vulnerable to FUD and kinds of Drops, it shuould help to perfectly do the number 1 which is the Mindset.
672  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Surges Above $4400 As World Realizes Jamie Dimon & China Don't Matter on: October 02, 2017, 08:47:01 AM
Bitcoin just topped $4400 for the first time since in over 3 weeks and has now erased all of the plunge losses from Jamie Dimon's "it's a fraud" and China's shuttering of all local exchanges.

Quote
It didn't take long for the world of crypto-currencies to shrug off Jamie Dimon's self-tighteous denigration of the decentralized currency that could directly 'disrupt' his cash cow businesses; and furthermore, as The South China Morning Post reports, China's bitcoin market alive and well as traders defy crackdown.

Although the crackdown has dissuaded large swathes of less-experienced investors from participating in the trade, market participants point to the limits Chinese regulators ultimately face in controlling the industry, where many users are anonymous and difficult to track.

In the short-run, the crackdown has also created an arbitrage opportunity for investors, with the price of bitcoin in China now trading at a discount to overseas exchanges.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-10-01/bitcoin-surges-above-4400-world-realizes-jamie-dimon-china-dont-matter
I love this kind of news and i just hope the World learned their lessons with this event and hopefully The World will now be smart enough to take time to read and check every sources and learn how to research, this scheme of big companies will now be dead and thanks to China x Morgan event, the world is now awakened.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the best way for bitcoin to be known to all levels of society on: October 02, 2017, 07:40:30 AM
now bitcoin has reached the price of 4445 $ is not it at that price should everyone have already know what bitcoin, but in fact there are still many people who do not know the existence of bitcoin, what I ask is there any powerful way that all people know how to use bitcoin?
Well, Advertisement and Social Awareness, we could also provide seminars to them to teach them the basics of cryptocurrency and what will be the future of currency because of digital coins, i think with these steps and if we will help each other to advertise Bitcoin, there will be a big chance that a lot of people will have their attention on Cryptocurrency.
674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to start trading alt coins? Beginner Tips! on: October 02, 2017, 07:17:58 AM

Trading beginner tips!

( Brought to you by Licensium & Trusted Nodes team members https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2129844.0)

1. Regularly read Bitcointalk forum
2. Check coinmarketcap.com for current real coin values
3. Check coinmarketcap.com history of coin you are interested in
4. Check the ANN thread of the coin on Bitcointalk
5. Many coins have their own blogs/ forums you need to follow to be up to date
6. At start choose coins that are already established and stable
7. Make yourself a portfolio of 3 - 5 coins for start
8. Do not jump in ongoing coin pumps, you never know when it will dump.
9. Make yourself a strategy for coins you will long term invest and maybe 2 gamble coins that are more risky but offer higher profit.
10. I recommend starting with Bittrex I cannot recommend Bittrex anymore because they need to verify your IDENTITY in order to let you withdraw BTC and alt coins.
11. Do not instantly sell your coins if they dumb instantly for no obvious reason ( research why)
12. At the beginning its better to aim for small profits like 5% - 10% +
13. Always keep some BTC to react when needed (buy)
14. Start slowly, take your time. 2 month in research and observation is recommended.
15. Always reinvest a share of your profit in your favorite coins and use a share of profit to gamble
16. Do not jump instant in new coins with big investment. If it looks promising to you start low and follow the progress.
17. If you advance and make good experience you could start to invest in icos, but watch out lots of scam around.
18. Pull out some % in USD from your profit from time to time.
19. Control your emotions when the prices is going up or down.

* Additional Tips from community members:

20. Never be emotional in your trading. Be objective! (thx to @Investor for the tip)
21. I also advice that when you already developed a good trading strategy, you stick into it and keep your discipline  (thx to bamboylee for this tip)

Good luck!

Would appreciate to add more tips to the list to give some valued info to beginners!
Oh Thanks for this, I laready talked to someone who trades not on coins but on stock ( Stock trading) and we talked about the techniques he is currently using and that is what he called benchmarking, Buy Low Sell High, it needed time and effort, monitoring the changes in price is really needed.
In this technique you should have a percentage of profit rate example here is 50%
For example you bought Stock A @ 1.00 and the price got higher Stock A became @ 1.50 , Sell your stocks, if the price got lower you should buy again at @1.00 or lower than that or lower than 1.50 and sell it higher than 1.50 and so on.
He told me that this is really hard to do but if you will practice it and apply it to cryptocurrency i might have a bigger chance of gaining 100%++ of profit.
675  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are some disadvantages of BTC? on: October 02, 2017, 06:46:56 AM
We all know the advantages of BTC, but what are some of the disadvantages??
I think one of it is the slow transaction confirmation and transaction fees are one of the disadvantages that BTC have. In my opinion one of the disadvantages of it is the lack of shops and merchandises around the world to give a reason to spend your bitcon , atleast with this we can spend bitcoin and use it as a currency not just an investment.
676  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin loss? on: October 02, 2017, 06:09:46 AM
One thing always came on my mind when I entered the world of Bitcoin.
Fiat are issued with registered numbers and recycles in the name of new currency, making the old obsolete.
i.e. They never get destroyed even if the physical notes gets burned and decayed.

But bitcoin are totally different, they can be lost
- sending to unsupported address
- loosing private keys
- people dying with private keys, etc.
Which will keep on decreasing the total available supply of the coin. making it more scarce.
Won't that bring a problem the the economics, no coins left to trade situations?
This is considered a Human error and this would be an epic and rare situation though. Like many people bought their bitcoins way back from the early stages of bitcoin and forgot their addresses or private keys and never had a chance to recover it. But just like what i've said this is really a rare thing to happen, i think it is not possible to affect the active coins from the forgotten ones and maybe Bitcoin developers can do something about this concern and might come up with a better solution.
677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash is the future IMO on: October 01, 2017, 06:59:21 AM
We view that the BTC blockchain slowing down radically as mass approval carries on, finance institutions won't accept that slow block-chain once they are able to utilize the BCH block-chain that's substantially faster. I am very long in BCH.
"I am very long in BCH" what are trying to say dude?. Look, this is not enough reason to tell that BCH is the future, we don't have any technolohy to measure and predict the future of bitcoin, at the end of the day it will still be the supporters of bitcoin that makes bitcoin as the king of digital coins.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ban in South Korea on: October 01, 2017, 06:52:32 AM
I have recently heard that after China Now South Korea Ban Bitcoin too...is that truth???
If banned then What's the future of BTC now?
South Korean Government did not ban bitcoin , please try to research this before asking. They just banned the ICOs which Chinese Government also did but unlike Chinese Government , South Korean Government still did not ban bitcoin.
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if China ban was temporary on: October 01, 2017, 06:41:46 AM
According to a post by Forbes, The Chinese ban might be temporary because they want to appease international agencies and hardcore communist members ahead of the upcoming Communist Party convention. So if the ban was to be lifted today or anytime soon, how prepared would you be to make a great opportunity out of it since it only means two things, a massive price increase or decrease

Source:  https://www.forbes.com/sites/panosmourdoukoutas/2017/09/25/why-chinas-ban-on-bitcoin-may-be-temporary/2/#1c8055057d09
Maybe it is possible but as far as we base from the past articles i think it will take a lot of time before the lifting of bitcoin ban on china will happen. In my own opinion they will stick to the banning of cryptocurrencies because it acts like a threat to their control and monetary policies.
680  Economy / Economics / Re: tax on: September 30, 2017, 06:08:56 AM
in your country income from bitcoin taxed? state the country
No it is not, in my country , it is not yet taxable because the salary as a cryprocurrency or token or digital coin is not covered on the law in my country. My country is Philippines, but i think if bitcoin or other digital coins will really enter the mainstream scene, ithink our Government will do something to earn a profit from it.
