661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] $XQN Quotient Financial Network | PoW Scrypt, PoS Blake-256 | UPDATE NOW on: February 17, 2015, 05:46:43 PM
The yearly stake percentage on XQN is 1618% (one thousand, six hundred, ...).
The maximum stake reward for each set of UTXO (what most people just call coin blocks if looking at the input control window), is 16.18 XQN.

With the current amount of coins in circulation, staking is highly competitive, and this means that most (if not all) stakes are capped at the maximum reward. In practice, this means that you will rarely ever get an actual reward of 1618% over your inputs, and your staking results will vary greatly with factors of luck, as well as UTXO (or block) sizes.

Based on my personal experience, factoring the max stake reward as well as the high difficulty, I would place the optimal block size today at somewhere in the region of ~600 to ~1800 XQN. Your mileage may vary. Happy staking!  Cool

There's no missing it, but quoting w/your picture and all just to be sure everyone spotted what that was.

They claim it was stolen from their cold wallet.

Clearly not cold enough.

At least XQN should be at 10k each coin,this will give an 200k market wich is still lower than XAI,and who people will need to buy XQN to use plume storage from what I have known,this is big.

For PlumeDB and any native Sapience application, the currency unit is Sapience/XAI. I understand there should be a linked token for XQN specifically, allowing use of the Sapience platform by XQN holders. Hope this clears things a little.

As far as speculating on values... I most certainly believe that XQN will grow and deserves a better relative position in the market cap rankings, but I'm not making any guesses, especially as the markets recently appear to suffer from bipolar disorder  Grin

Happy Staking!

Here is a something to check out some of the features of Sapience PlumeDB with until the new Sapience public wallet build is released.

http://www.sapienceexplorer.com/

It's not a complete set of functions yet, but will be updated shortly with further functionality.

 Smiley

Absolutely awesome ethought!

However basic is the functionality at this point, it really goes to show the potential of Sapience/XAI and the protocol that is being developed. For starters, and very quickly, this will be a powerful distributed database & computation engine, upon which, others can develop their own applications and host a variety of services.

What's more, it's one of the very few crypto projects that effectively ties meaningful utility to its currency units, and utility with the potential for widespread adoption, as opposed to having just some obscure niche use case or a purely speculative value.

I feel very lucky to be part of this adventure.  Wink
667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Security Fork 2/13/15 - Most PoS Coins Vulnerable!!!! on: February 15, 2015, 02:08:55 PM
Yep, you can certainly connect= to more than one peer.

Setting listen=0 may also help, to prevent peers initiating connections to you (can't remember if -connect implies that)

Just remember you have a custom config! If those nodes drop offline at some point in the future, you may find yourself with zero connections to the network.

So there you go, you don't need my help at all  Grin Come back and join the good staking!
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | Security Fork 2/13/15 - Most PoS Coins Vulnerable!!!! on: February 15, 2015, 02:02:25 PM
[...] My ADSL is 1:20 Mbit/sec upload:download, so a single coin with forked peers can saturate the upload side, and slow the entire link. Sad I've disabled HYP for the moment.

You could connect exclusively to a known good peer, so that you can continue to participate on staking and temporarily avoid the spam from outdated peers. To do this, remove/comment any addnodes you might have on the conf file, and have instead:

Code:
connect=104.131.135.232

I don't know if the "connect" command accepts more than one node.
If it does, you can also include these additional ones:

Code:
connect=192.241.233.70
connect=162.243.151.111

These are some of presstab's nodes. By connecting exclusively to one of these, you know you're on the right chain, as well as you prevent connecting to the outdated peers.
Happy Staking!

Got the API hooked up to the python shell, just have to finish coding up all of the bindings:

Damn it. I think you just "decided for me" that it's about time I learn myself some python!   Cheesy
Great job CedricQuotient! I for one, am really impressed by how quickly you are hitting these marks. Keep it up!  Wink

Good job on contributing to the pump of 5 guys who had most of the XAI/XQN with no tech to show yet.

Welcome to bagholding, and get used to it.

5btc dump terrible, how will it ever survive  Roll Eyes

So, 24 hours ago, we were at a low of 1900 sat. After a 5 BTC worth dump, we are now at a low of 1900 sat.
Don't even bother checking for a pulse, it's dead alright!  Grin

Congrats to whomever picked them up!  Cool

I believe that the recent dump matches precisely the amount of XQN (148K) that was held by that account earlier reported to have stolen XQN from a few holders (when some shithead posted a malware wallet and a couple of people fell for it). This address was commented on the Blocktree.io explorer, and it is not on the richlist anymore.

If my understanding is correct, I think it's all the better that he/she/they dumped now. Rather sooner than later, and the coins go back to people that care and recognize the value. Not a dull moment in crypto, heh...  Smiley

I don't understand why this would be a COI, I help with and consult other coins all the time.

At this early stage, I don't think that it would be wise to allow privileged access to an external developer, more so with the projects that are on the supernet scope. You might have the best of intentions, as well as you might not. As an early investor, I would consider such a level of transparency would be extremely naive and potentially damaging.

Voicing my opinion alone: Thank you, but no.

avast ye scurvy scallywags... prepare to be forked!

(can you believe scallywags is in spell check?)

I'm afraid to even google it.
What the *bleep* are scallywags?

I am keeping my eye on the downward difficulty spiral that unleashing the full timedrift power to everyone is causing. This might be a reason for a fork in order to make time drift rules much more strict. My suggestion would be 60 seconds future as well as 60 seconds past.

I think this would be a great improvement to both network stability & security. There is no reasonable use case to support the original time drift allowance of 15 minutes. Keep up the great work Presstab!  Smiley

Awesome stuff presstab! Will run this beta version from now on, and I'll be checking out the code over the coming days. I will likely have lots of noob questions as customary, and I appreciate your patience in advance!   Grin

Here's a couple of recent articles for those of us more interested in the technology than price speculation  Roll Eyes
It's possible that someone had posted these already, if that's the case, my apologies. The thread has been tough to follow...

- The future is ours - Robots take over
- Researchers show a machine learning network for connected devices

These might be a worthy distraction in anticipation of the new wallet release  Wink

Out of curiosity: what is your highest block height atm? My highest is at 237231.
242455 is my newest high.

Ha we are close david. My high is 246,586.

Oh, the question was about weightGrin
I've had a few at 145K (got only one such input right now), but not much really.
I think the majority of my blocks has been staking at about 80K weight on average, or slightly less in recent times.  Smiley
678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] $XQN Quotient Financial Network | PoW Scrypt, PoS Blake-256 | UPDATE NOW on: February 10, 2015, 05:22:53 PM
Some trades exceed 0.5% of the total market cap of Quotient. It's a pretty dangerous and Illiquid market. But if you wanne be a winner, you gotta be there before the boom  Grin

Well spotted. Just looked at the 1 week graph, there's some very aggressive trading going on there.
The sell book does look to have a few more on sale though, so new entrants will probably not cause such strong spikes for a while. As happy as I am to see XQN moving up, it's nice to see some stability as well  Smiley

I double-checked with Matylda, and she agrees with my wallet.

@davidlatapie:
I saw your other posts on this same topic, but didn't respond as I feel divided. Haven't figured out a personal preference myself yet...
It's great that you're asking for community feedback on this one, especially as the MEW website is an outwards facing project.
