661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: December 07, 2016, 12:06:14 AM
I get more and more opencl call errors, randomly 1 or 2 rigs get this error every day, total count of rigs 89.
If that error was on same rigs I would say that something is wrong with that rig in total, but randomly?

It will be hard to move existing pools. After all my experiments, best miner Claymore 8.0, best pool Flypool.

Yeah, it's just had shitty luck lately.
not only flypool, I was on coinmine.pl for about a month and last weeks luck is not as good
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethOS - Ethereum Mining Platform on: December 07, 2016, 12:02:20 AM
Dear Friends

in your opinion linux is great to minering ethereum then windows Huh?

im can increase memory clock of my rx470 on linux Huh

what is the advantages of linux ?

is more stable ?

Thanks
Almir
it is far more stable then windows, but some of us still prefer windows. you can set clocks memory etc on linux as well. and for ethereum linux is good, if i have to mine only eth with 2 or 3 rigs i'd prefer linux for sure
663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 470 are even cheaper now on: December 06, 2016, 10:46:37 PM
Yes it is fine to use 4G cards, your hashrate will be around 25MHS for the RX470.
on ETH i get 29~Mhs with moded bios on 480 8G
I'll do a research what can I get on 470 if bios modding is possible on them, the price charmed me for next upgrade
664  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 06, 2016, 10:44:09 PM
Hey team,

I noticed my S9 today (for a few hours) experienced a drop in hashrate for 1 board. It went from a typical 4600 GH/s down to 1250 for about 3 hours until I noticed. There were no xxx or anything. I restarted the miner and it is hashing like normal again. I will continue to monitor. I've had the miner for about 2 weeks.

Should I be concerned? Do you think the hashboard would have recovered on it's own eventually? Do you think it would have been bad to continue without restarting?

Thanks
When I had the same issue on my 2x S9 both boards died and I sent them back for under warranty repair, now they are working just fine, but couple days ago my other board died and I have to pay for repair because they are out of warranty. Keep an eye on it you'd be lucky if that was one time accident, cheers!

PS. does anybody knows where are they going to restock S9s ?

is it worth or even possible to mine ETH with RX480 4G ?
I have 480 8Gs but since of November 2 I'm only into Zcash

Right now I have RX480's mining Zcash.. I'm thinking about switching back to ETH, but Zcash is a little easier on the cards and doesn't seem to use as a lot of power.

I will decide in the next few days what to do because it seems ETH is more profitable by a small margin.
3x RX480 8G mobo h81m-k total 330watts from the wall and mining zcash atm.
I was wondering if it is possible with RX470 4G to mine ETH ?
666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New H81 Pro MB will not post - New Build on: December 06, 2016, 10:30:30 PM
Bringing home a different PSU to see if that has any effect.  But I think I have a bad board.
I know they don't make many of these H81's and in some cases when you buy a new it has sat in a warehouse somewhere for a few years.
Have you tried switching to another hdd/ssd ?
For these last week four or five of my SSDs died for just no reason, all of them kingston v300

here is a step by step i put together

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1697727.0

and ... my t-addr is in there if you want to donate something ;-)
If you follow the tutorial step by step you can set up a working mining pool, even a beginner with no proper knowledge of linux like me did it in second try.

How much hashrate is enough for solo mining 50.000+ ?
669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: help with configuring a miner on: December 06, 2016, 10:22:35 PM
if i connect to the onboard video out, there is no way to control the amd gpu that i have in the system? is there a way to trick the system?

if i just run it like that, will the automatic fan control be enough to keep the cards cool enough, or do i have to connect to amd gpu and increase the fan speed?

the miner is running in a very cool environment.
I didn't quite understand what you mean but I'll try. You don't need monitor to be connected to any GPU or motherboard to mine, in most cases it doesn't matters were you connect monitor you just have to start the miner and install drivers and see in manage tab if all GPU-s are properly visible in that tab
670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Literature about altcoins and cryptocurrency overall on: December 06, 2016, 12:59:04 PM
Books like that are just opinion-pieces. Essays. If they claim to be more than that they become scams. I wouldn't have money or time for such books. Anyone who is unable to form their own independant opinion on things shouldn't be investing.

By the time it goes to printing it's already outdated btw. Target audience is extremely small.

Likely not worth the hassle currently.
I totally agree if this goes for detailed information and explanation like "how to", i.e. how to build ETH mining rig with H81M-K and three RX480 GPUs and etc.
What I actually want is to gather detailed and specific information about what is ETH, BTC or cryptocurrency overall, why it is good or bad to learn more about it, what is mining and etc.
I understand that the book or whitepaper will be outdated in February if you print it now and it goes only for detailed how to I already mentioned.

guys have some questions that bothers me...

just added in my rig today an HD 8990, to another 3x R9 390 gigabite 8 gb, with a Ewga supernova 1300w G2 PSU... The consuption is 1327w at wall...

Also have an Therma Take Though power 1200w PSU which is running at 1130w at wall....

where is the limit of the PSU consuption in long term? Any experience/advice?

Just dont wanna burn them in short time...

next, where is the difference between the MSI afterburner setting and setting the settings in the crimson software? for me are the setting possibilities same, or i missing something?

pls teach me...

Many thanks for any advice and help....
just wanted to ask how are you measuring power usage in watts ?

676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig PORN on: December 05, 2016, 12:23:09 AM
Can anyone share any solution to reboot a hang system remotely?? This is currently my biggest challange. Since Claymore8, it reduce drastically but still out of the 10 rig, it still happens once a week. My order of 80 rigs are coming in next week and I do not want this to be my full time job.

couple things I came up this far:
1. smart PDU
2. mobile phone with reley switch on its vibration motor contacts connected to power pins (not as cost effective for multi rig systems)
3. Radmin adn telneting to machine with command shutdown -r -f -t 1 (it helps only in 50% of cases)
4. the last one is SimpleRigResseter developed by simplemining.net (so far the best one)

Correct me if i am wrong as I have no idea of diskless system.

Dont we have to have at least 64gb of RAM of we need to do this? Does the entire system store in the RAM? If so then 20gb for OS and another 16gb for Miner Ram and at least 8gb for System.
I have same questions, what about the AMD drivers or already configured Claymore's miner ?
I'm using separated worker for every rig, what is the solution in that case ?
677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig PORN on: December 05, 2016, 12:09:24 AM
@ mettalmag

i think you should start looking at diskless solutions....mining rigs booting from LAN.

there is a lot of advantages, specially for people with many mining rigs..
Can you tell me more about that?

you manage all mining rigs' hard drives in a diskless server..

- you can snapshot a clean, freshly installed, freshly tweaked windows OS...and can return to that state in an instant (more like a backup)

- switching from windows to linux vice versa is just a reboot away

- you install a miner software and driver in a mining rig, every mining rig will have that mining software and driver.

- you can set the images (mining rig OS inside diskless server) to read only mode....virus proof, no need for antivirus software. if infected or messed up, you just have to reboot the rig.

- if your farm have so many hard drives, maybe the hard drive power consumption is equal or greater than the diskless server.

- you can turn on and turn off remotely

you just have to be sure that your diskless server is VERY stable...btw there are realtime failover diskless server too.

maybe i missed some things but..that's just what i remembered right now.
at the moment I'm researching the PXE and thinking about it, but first thought is the cost of server and re building network hardware, technically building and implementing this technology would't be a big issue (it's a matter of time, testing and etc), but so far the only problem we have in farm is power blackouts and random PC hangs. To solve this problem I was thinking buy a smart PDUs but the cost in this way is huge too, so the last thing I came up was SimpleRigResseter.

679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: December 04, 2016, 10:35:47 PM
It could be a riser problem, since there is more data being transfered at a faster rate.

Makes sense. Just my question remains - how raising voltage gets rid of this error?
Im also wondering if it is a riser problem why miner crashes after 5+hrs of work ?

in two days I will get my new risers and will check that also
