6701  Other / Meta / Re: Can a merit source use it's status to shill own project by giving merit ? on: December 26, 2021, 08:49:15 PM
People realize that Merit is worthless right?  There are better more productive things to be doing with your time then worrying about how someone sends out a useless...I was going to say token but it isn't even that.

My advice is for people to spend more time worrying about how they can do good and less time worrying about others doing bad.  Bad behavior, scams, trolling, aren't punished here anyway so...  Merit/trust abusers and trolls will always exist here.  The system is setup for them to thrive in groups.  Don't bitch about the symptoms though, bitch about the cause or contribute a solution.
6702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where to buy and sell NFT? on: December 26, 2021, 11:06:39 AM
All of the above sites are interfaces GUI that enable the user to manage smart contracts (ERC-721   https://ethereum.org/en/nft/ ) on ethereum blockchain network without having the slightest technical background, but the problem of high fees (more than $100 on average) and how to promote tokens is still an important factor in the continuity of decentralization such artworks.

There may be compromises like setting it up on central networks like BSC but still things here are centralized and they can remove your Non-fungible tokens.

Dividing the platforms into centralized and decentralized with some details would be better.

I'd like to see them divided based on what chains they support as I think that would probably be the most helpful way to utilize this information.  For example, Polygon and BSC are both very low fee chains for transferring NFTs, but aren't as readily supported as ETH.

The Knicks bringing home the first W of the day against the Hawks.  Next up the Bucks and Celtics.  The real magic starts to heat up after that though once the Warriors match up against the Suns.  I'm expecting a high scoring game with a lot of shooting...  Then finally the game I've waited all season to see, the Lakers vs the Nets.  I think the Nets will probably win, but you never know.  LeBron should easily pass Kobe to be the all time Christmas Day scoring leader.  Then things finish off with Jazz of Mavericks.  Not sure I'll be able to make it through this one, but a great day of basketball nonetheless.

All bitcoiners should blacklist Tesla cars or any product or service coming from a company owned by Mr.Musk.

Ya!  Fuck Tesla for buying billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin and holding it on their balance sheet.  Fuck Elon Musk for buying more Bitcoin to own personally.  Fuck Tesla for running a pilot program to accept Bitcoin for their cars and especially fuck Tesla because they said they'll be accepting Bitcoin again in the future.

Oh ya, and fuck Elon Musk for trying to make human beings a multiplanetary species.  Lastly, a final fuck you to Tesla for trying to replace internal combustion engines with electric motors.

Who the fuck does this guy and this company think they are?  Supporting decentralized currencies, trying to better our species through space exploration, and cleaning up our planet while giving customers an awesome driving experience.  Fuck them...

Spread that Christmas cheer buddy!  I'm not sure if I've ever seen one of these and I was one of the first bitpay merchants!  Cool piece.  Thanks for making this available for us here at our little community trading post.

Same. I refuse to use my house’s heater and my GPUs alone aren’t doing the job of keeping me nice and toasty. Could use a little more hashing so I can get back to basketball shorts and a class-a instead of a hood tuxedo. Smiley

Y'all got me sleeping in hoodies.  LOL

Any of these bad boys get shipped out in time to hit Santa's sleigh?
6708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 24, 2021, 07:51:40 PM
Christmas is suppose to be fan, I mean watching games with the star players in different teams is fun to watch as we can see a competition at a full level, but looks like we are not gonna see it this Christmas.

It's ok regardless of who will play or not because of safety and health protocols. Those who won't be able to play on Christmas day doesn't mean their respective team will not be on their full level. Lots of big matches on Christmas day games we sure don't want to miss.

Nets vs Lakers
Warriors vs Suns

Can't wait to watch these games.

I think Warriors vs Suns is better to watch as this team is already tied 1-1 this season so far. They won a game in their respective home court but the last time the Suns lose, they were playing without Booker. Tomorrow they'll be in their home court again so I think Suns will get this, they are now -5, but not sure they'll cover that spread as Warriors are really doing well.

That's what I think too.
Suns and Warriors are the most interesting teams to watch this year in the Western Conference. The Eastern Conference too has a very interesting teams too. The Bucks and Nets still the front runners for the NBA finals, but the Chicago Bulls are also showing the potential to be in that category too.
Wohooo the NBA is getting unpredictable and exciting as the season goes on.

Ya, I think that the Warriors and Bulls are my favorites for the Finals at the moment.  A far cry from before the season started when I thought nobody could ever touch the Nets or Lakers.  Who knows, maybe they're just not interested in regular season basketball and we'll see them flip a switch in the playoffs.  When everyone is in playoff mode basketball is an entirely different game.  I think with all the covid nonsense and everything else going on in society today, the players are just cruising until it's time to get serious.  I don't expect anyone to put in much effort until after the all star break at the earliest.
6709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 24, 2021, 06:28:56 AM
That wasn’t just a loss. The Lakers got their ass kicked. That was ugly. Strange too because Westbrook and James had good games and Howard got some minutes. The 3 just wasn’t falling for them. They shot below 20% and after a while the game just got away from them. This will probably be their worst loss of the year. Doesn’t give much hope for their Christmas Day game.

The production Metacycle has been spotted out in the wild and a video has been posted on YouTube. Seeing so much black on the silver mode makes me regret my decision to go with the black model less. Something will definitely need to be done about those mirrors though.

Whatever makes people feel safe so that we can end this mask and vaccine mandate foolishness.  I'm sure it won't be long before Pfizer offers a daily pill you can take that will help you avoid being infected in the first place.  Then nasal sprays, patches, suppositories...  I'm sure there's a whole laundry list of products that big pharma is lining up to sell you that go along with their semi-annual booster shots.  I for one will continue to do things the old fashioned way.  Nothing like soup, a blanket, lots of water, rest, and some of Grandpa's good old fashioned cough syrup to cure any ills.
6712  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk posts as nft on: December 23, 2021, 09:00:51 AM
To my knowledge, there is no real way to confirm the authenticity of any given NFT.

You can see who created the NFT.  In the example of a venue selling tickets, it would be as easy as looking at the creator of the NFT and seeing if they're verified using a marketplace like opensea which is the popular method currently, or you can look at the blockchain and see if the contract address matches the address given by the venue for the event.  A big feature of NFTs is being able to confirm their authenticity, although that is just one of many advantage over the current venue ticketing system.  I might also add that this is just one example of a use case.  There are so many more I get dizzy thinking about it.  An NFT could function as anything from a share of an investment fund (works well because you can easily pay dividends to NFT holders by looking up their addresses on the blockchain) or it could be a picture of a penis that grows or shrinks with your wallet's ETH balance.  There will be many use cases and that is exciting to me.
6713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: December 23, 2021, 08:07:19 AM
It's too early to tell, we need more games to see his consistency. But actually, I don't feel his presence as the Lakers are not hyping me anymore, I mean they are not winning games as expected, so this team is just an ordinary team that struggles despite having a lot of all star players.

They've suffered from a lot of injury problems between AD & LeBron already this season.  Nunn was supposed to be a starter who hasn't seen the floor yet also.  I think they need to let AD get healthy and let Dwight Howard get more playing time.  Maybe explore some trades for defenders who can shoot.  On the plus side, Dwight is supposed to be back in action tomorrow against the Spurs, and that should be a game the Lakers can win without AD, so hopefully they can get through it with the W and try to get some more guys healthy.
6714  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Am I wrong for buying S9's? on: December 22, 2021, 06:28:21 PM
Buying S9s here does seem like a bit of a gamble, but you never know if it will pay off for you or not.  Not too long ago people were giving S9s away to anyone who would pay shipping.  Now they have a viable resale market.  The concern for you that I would have is that resale will likely be difficult with these, or likely impossible at some point.  So if I were doing the calculations, I would estimate for a higher difficulty, lower price, and no recoup from resales.  If it still makes sense, then go for it.  Remember there's time and effort involved as well.

Joe Johnson coming out of retirement to sign a 10-day contract with the Celtics at 40 years old is something else.  I wonder if he's going to be able to make an impact and if this is a real signing to improve the team or a precaution because of all the players sitting out constantly with covid related issues.  One thing is for sure, Iso Joe being back in the league is a welcome sight for players and he has been a staple in the league for some time.  I personally will never forgive him for leaving the Suns, but I'm glad he's back.

6716  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - 2 Million+ in Xmas Giveaways | Watford & UFC Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: December 22, 2021, 08:45:06 AM
I know I had mentioned this before, but is there any chance of getting a .onion version of the site running on the TOR network that is friendly with the TOR browser?  Ever since the last site update a few weeks ago I haven't been able to use the TOR browser as every time you go to log in the window crashes after a few seconds.  I've been having to resort to traditional means of online gambling.  Namely draftkings.  A .onion site would be pretty sweet, I must admit.  Maybe with a .bit or .eth or both address extensions would really be taking it to the next level.

I am proud to report that as of the latest TOR browser update Stake.com no longer crashes repeatedly and is functioning quite well.  Just in time for me to snag some Christmas loot in the giveaways and get some bets ready for Christmas Day NBA basketball.  I'm a happy camper.  Thanks Stake for providing the great Christmas giveaways and bonuses as well.  I hope everyone has a lucky and fruitful holiday season.  Don't bet it all in one place, but if you do, make it Stake.  Smiley
6717  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christmas not Xmas. on: December 22, 2021, 08:26:54 AM
It is understandable when you don't believe in Christ and simply say "Happy Holidays", but you need correction as a believer in Christ if you say "Happy Xmas" instead of "Happy Christmas".

Generally, "X" is a letter used to make an indication that something is unknown, Christ is the reason for the season, so why do you a believer in Christ say "Happy Xmas" instead of "Happy Christmas" when you already know the reason behind the christmas celebration?
Why have you replaced "Christ" with "X"?

People started writing it because it's faster I think and has nothing to do with the Holidays vs Christmas aspect which is PC to include everyone.  I don't hear people saying "Happy Xmas" instead of "Merry Christmas" ever though.  If people don't want to acknowledge the holiday as a Christian event they typically say "Happy Holidays" with some companies even making employees refer to this time of year only as such.  Some people get pretty offended over the entire thing, which I would argue is against the spirit of things, but people will complain about anything if given the opportunity to do so.
6718  Economy / Economics / Re: I think most people still trust the USD more than Bitcoin on: December 21, 2021, 11:26:40 PM
Given that fiat is still what is required for taxes it obviously has more fundamental demand then crypto.  Until the US Government starts allowing people to pay their taxes with Bitcoin, it will remain with that advantage.  There is also a lot of business that happens out there and change is slow.  Taxes may be the extreme example, but think of everything you need to buy to survive.  How much of that can you truly buy without fiat?  I'm not talking spending Bitcoin on gift cards or using a Bitcoin backed credit card, but actual Bitcoin accepted by vendors.  We have a long way to go still.  Some countries have shown there's still hope, but it'll be an uphill battle for likely a couple generations before Bitcoin could surpass fiat and particularly the dollar in trust.
6719  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk posts as nft on: December 21, 2021, 11:21:55 PM
Well, the example I gave was concert tickets, so I'll stick with that as it is a simple and easy to understand innovation.  Right now when a venue sells tickets, they have to deal with scalpers trying to resell their tickets for a profit.  This is a problem because for sold out events it forces would be attendees to purchase their tickets from these scalpers.  This results in endless heartaches for those who purchase fake tickets, or a financial drain for those who pay way too much from a reliable secondhand seller.  With NFTs, scalpers would be considered friends to venues instead of enemies.  Their secondhand sales could be contractually obligated to pay a % to the venue for resales.  Additionally, those buying from resellers could verify the tickets are genuine before making the purchase.  They can also see what other people are paying for tickets up to that very minute.  Just this one example decriminalizes scalpers, gives the venue a new revenue source, and gives customers the ability to make sure they are buying genuine products at a fair price.
Alright, so why can't this happen in the venue's back-end database? Why should there not be trust in this procedure since venues and only venues can mint the tickets? Everything happens from the venues' website.

Wanna drop me some other, more convincing arguments from an article maybe?

How would you propose this happened in the venue's backend?  Don't ask me to put in place and demonstrate a dumb process to you.  You do it and I'll pick it apart for you to show you why that would be a poor centralized version that requires a ridiculous amount more involvement while giving a subpar experience to the end user requiring invasions of their privacy and enforcement through threats of violence.

I'm not sure those currently writing articles on NFTs are experienced enough with NFTs or their decade long existence on blockchains to have written an article more insightful than my example.  Feel free to do the legwork yourself and post one you understand more clearly if you'd like.
6720  Other / Meta / Re: Would be nice to have a dedicated space to discuss about the NFTs? :) on: December 21, 2021, 09:15:29 PM
Seems pretty obvious that not only an NFT section, but a Lightning section would be useful to users here.  I can understand not having an NFT section considering that isn't really a Bitcoin thing yet, but no Lightning section just seems strange to me.  Granted the 2 will probably go hand in hand at some point in the not too distant future, so maybe we're just waiting until there are more developers working on Lightning or better dev kits...  Who knows.  I've never seen a very good explanation.  Clearly Lightning is not Bitcoin so it's own discussion board would be useful.  Same with the Liquid network.  Most people don't even know it exists, so you'd think given this forum's support of Bitcoin it would be doing it's part to try and bring development to these networks in support of Bitcoin.
