681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what to do if bitcoin decreases? on: December 20, 2017, 06:32:39 PM
If BTC price decreases, buy it!

Now is not the time to invest in BTC because it's too high. But it will go down soon and then you should buy and hold.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which makes sense to buy a bitcoin or to buy a altcoin? on: December 20, 2017, 06:30:46 PM
If ı were you ı would not go with only one coin. I think investing in some altcoins and some bitcoin is better option. For now it is a good time for buying and holding bitcoin. And some of altcoins are low nowadays and there is good ones for long term investment like neo and ripple. You can check them.

Now is not the time to buy BTC, it will go down soon. Now is the time to buy good and solid altcoins!
683  Local / Portugal / Re: Ola... any crypto-aware accountants who can assist? on: December 20, 2017, 06:29:22 PM
Hi Jim,
you are supposed to declare whatever earnings in euros you got from crypto trades in annex g section 13001, or as "rendimentos obtidos no estrangeiro" if all the trades were done abroad. Either way the tax is the same.

I strongly disagree with this statement. Portuguese law doesn't have a single word about crypto currencies, exchanges, mining, trading, nothing!

Section G, Rendimentos obtidos no estrangeiro, refers to work done abroad, not to crypto trading!

The law is completely absent when it comes to anything crypto related.

Buying and selling BTC is not regulated in Portuguese law, therefore we don't have to pay anything.

If this is a crime, show me the law I'm breaking will you? Please?
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it good time to buy alts now? on: December 20, 2017, 06:10:00 PM
The BTC hysteria might not be over yet but I'm sure it won't last for long. In the meantime, it's wise to invest in other coin creating a diversified portfolio of undervalued crypto assets.

The market has recently attracted a significant number of new investor, both veterans and newbies. Some will lose money when the prices correct to a lower level and probably leave crypto, but many will stay.

Therefore, this is the time to buy altcoins.
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some stable altcoins ? on: December 20, 2017, 05:58:32 PM
You cannot think of stability only in terms BTC/altcoin or altcoin/fiat pairing. Stability is a lot more than that and is closely related to the dev team planning the project and the community supporting it.

Prices will go up and down like they always have, but the truly stable projects will proceed with their roadmaps despite of the market fluctuations. That's stability; the capacity to move forward even in chaotic occasions.
686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All crypto prices are going down. on: December 20, 2017, 05:52:07 PM
The market has grown a lot in the last couple month, supported not only by the BTC price rise but also by the appearance of new ICOs almost everyday.

However, the trend appears to be changing. In my view that was expected, all this hysteria was bound to collapse anytime soon. Prices will stabilize soon, and the good altcoins will take their proper place in the global crypto market.

687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many alternative crypto options available for invest on: December 20, 2017, 05:47:11 PM
Today there are 1369 altcoin listed in coinmarketcap.com. At least 80% of them are trash/scam...

In order to pick a good one you should take some time and study the coin before investing any money in it.

It seems to me that in a few years these 80% trash / scram of altcoins will die. The future is for coins with technology. Wink But now every day there are many new ICO. So ,the amount of altcoins will only grow, so only careful analysis will help to select altcoin with great prospects. Cool

Indeed, the amount of altcoins will grow as long as this enthusiasm bubble keeps inflating. Then, only the good ones will endure. Everyday there is a handful of new so called  "coins". In fact, the vast majority of these are just scams professionally created to to lure the uneducated investor.

I would stay away from all of these new super hype projects and prefer to invest in long standing projects with a clear view for the future and viable tech specs.

Hello everyone

I’m so impressed with the availability  of alternative currencies .How do someone pick up the right currency .
  Shocked

Take the time to study everything about the possible candidates, don't invest based on anyone's advice.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some stable altcoins ? on: December 20, 2017, 09:21:06 AM
This is stability:

While the market goes crazy and most alts collapse, DMD grows!

694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Portfolio Suggestion? on: December 20, 2017, 09:12:20 AM
Hello guys,

I made the following plan:

BTC      25%
ETH      20%
Monero   10%
DASH   10%
NEO      10%
Waves   5%
Lisk      5%
EOS      5%
XML      5%
Verge   5%

Also would like to squeeze in Electroneum/Enjin and REQ somehow? Do I miss out on anything?

I was gonna include XTRABYTES as well, but read stuff about the founder's staying under cover. Not so cool.

Thanks!

I would choose some different coins, like DMD, but your portfolio looks well balanced and most of all is diversified.
695  Local / Portugal / Re: Ethereum - Será o início do fim do bitcoin? on: December 20, 2017, 09:08:17 AM

Grin

Mas a BTC não tem os dias contados, vai apenas ter que competir cada vez mais com estas novas abordagens à blockchain.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How should you measure profits? on: December 20, 2017, 08:53:42 AM
I cash out crypto for fiat regularly -- so I always measure my holdings in fiat value. It's always nice to remember that you haven't made any profit until you cash out. Crypto profits are imaginary until you see fiat in the bank account.

But what about when we will be able to pay almost everything with crypto soon? Then you have vashed out the moment you converted to BTC, LTC, ETH or other accepted currency? How will we measure then?

We are still very far from the day when will will be able "to pay almost everything with crypto". That would require a huge crypto acceptance and some kind of stable crypto/fiat pairing. That implies heavy crypto regulations. And that is not yet on the horizon...
697  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Altcoins are dying !!! on: December 19, 2017, 06:51:12 PM
Altcoin and the crypto market will generally return in early 2018. That will be the time when this market will grow the most.

Yes, the big rise before the fall. Don't you guys read the news? All around the world politicians, decision makers, opinion makers are claiming against this bubble.

I know they are protesting against the unknown because most of them don't have a clue about what crypto is. Nevertheless, some of them have the power to impose restrictions, regulations, high taxes and fees...

I'm not so optimistic as most users here are... I really believe we are on the brink of a crisis.

698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All coins are now dying, what do you think? on: December 19, 2017, 06:41:22 PM
The entire market is in the red. Everyone has lost money. What do you think?
not because the indicators are red, means the coins are dead most of the time
they are just waiting for the right time to recover, all the altcoin has their time to shine
or to grow we must just had to be patience and wait for that moment

Not all altcoins will rise, most of them are completely doomed, either because they have nothing new to offer, or because the dev abandoned them or simply because they already served theirs purpose; scam a few newbies.

Only a ~20% of all altcoins in existence today have anything that vaguely resembles a project, a vision, a plan. All the rest is pure trash!
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Hold Bitcoins or buy Altcoins with it on: December 19, 2017, 06:36:50 PM
Spreading your investment over a diversified portfolio is pure common sense. Betting everything on a single coin, BTC or any other, might turn out to be a complete disaster.

Diversify!
700  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to choose good coin!? on: December 19, 2017, 06:32:33 PM
I don't believe instinct should replace proper study and analysis. A beginner might consider himself an expert after one successful trade based on instinct but chances are the next one will be a catastrophe.

Nothing beats proper and careful study of all the variables, that is the only way to minimize the risk.
