681  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: April 10, 2015, 08:14:54 PM
There is good news. Liberia seems to be free of Ebola, after losing more than 4,000 of its citizens to the deadly disease. Now the outbreak is confined to Guinea and Sierra Leone. But worryingly, scandals are erupting in Liberia over stolen aid money, which was supposed to be used for fighting Ebola. Millions of USD worth of funds are missing from the bank accounts.

Nothing new. We are talking about a country where people are earning $1 per hour and were raiding clinics full of sick people just to steal blankets.
Imagine what they would do if there was a possibility of stealing large sums of money. If only they could use the money to improve their living conditions, but no, they'll buy drugs hookers and weapons.
682  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Buy a small power plant to just mine? on: April 10, 2015, 05:37:20 PM
small power plant? I dont think theres such thing as a "small" power plant.

Its all usually bigger like a commercial estate level, which is run by entities tie within government contracts. Eventually you would need roof top solar panels, and things that take over that can off set the electricity usage.

Oh there is. Small water generators are quite popular in some parts of the world. Here's one in Switzerland to prove the point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WShtAn5_EY
They also have a lot of these small things in Scotland. The downside is they are producing <5kW so there's no way to sustain a large mining operation with that.
683  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Frustrating things on bitcoin exchanges on: April 10, 2015, 05:33:14 PM
The most frustrating thing is when you want to log in and you can't because... they've been hacked, robbed, decided to run with your money or are under a DDoS Cheesy
Normally the most annoying thing is when they can't handle the load and become laggy and it's hard to place your order or withdraw it right away.

685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Traceable Are Bitcoin Wallet Addresses? on: April 09, 2015, 09:35:10 PM
Say you reuse the same address for many things and you eventually buy a physical good and the shipper tells someone or leaks the information.
Then of course your address will become linked to your name, but still it won't allow people to see your other addresses and know which software was being used to access them.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Traceable Are Bitcoin Wallet Addresses? on: April 09, 2015, 09:32:54 PM
AFAIK no. You can see addresses using blockchain.info or other sites and you can trace transactions, but you can't see the software used to access them, especially that the same address can be accessed on different wallets, you just need to transfer your private key.
687  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your price speculation for BTC at the end of 2015? on: April 09, 2015, 09:27:15 PM
Between 300 and 400.
There are basically 2 outcomes for Bitcoin: it will break 300 or completely die, because it's too early for it to go flat it's still in the early stage, so its price will keep growing, provided that it will continue to be developed and adopted by the society. I'm not counting on it to die, so 300+ seems to be a plausible outcome Wink
688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 08, 2015, 09:01:22 PM
Quite the contrary... As soon as we're in another confirmed bull-market, people will buy, buy, buy. people who sold will buy at a higher price. Everyone will work towards a bubble and that bubble will happen. The only question remaining is: How big will that bubble be.
It's not the only one. The more important question is when will it happen. I'd be happy with a small bubble, as long as I don't have to wait 2 years for it. Wink
689  Economy / Services / Re: FOOD CHALLENGE: Make $100 in BTC on: April 08, 2015, 08:45:03 PM
This is a hazardous job, after completing the challenge you'll probably be spending some time in the toilet, just sayin'  Grin
Why does it specifically have to be TB?
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just to complicated for the average person to use.. on: April 08, 2015, 08:39:03 PM
So true. There are many other examples where people ignored inventions because they could find no use for it. I remember when I bought my first computer everybody said 64MB of RAM was an overkill.
Same thing when CDs started coming out people were saying they are too big and not as handy as the tapes, 10 years later nobody was using tapes anymore.
691  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: April 08, 2015, 08:15:57 PM
The very wording of this thread makes me squirm. Where did your grammar go, OP?

Orthodox Islam is indeed problematic, but it´s not issue of misanthropy. Orthodox sunnis believe, that Quran is literal word of God, unbound by time and space. That naturally has to bring them into conflict with people, who are not stuck in the seventh century, but you should not forget, that this version is preached by radical minority (often to illiterate population, which is naturally at disadvantage, when arguing about meaning of holy book).

Furthermore, people, who fight these bigots the most are invariably other muslims as seen in Iraq (Kurds, Shiites), Syria (Assad peoples army) and Egypt (government).

You're right, but the rest of the world wouldn't even turn their heads towards the Muslim wars if not for the fact that these wars are claiming victims from all over the world. You're not safe and it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, you're as likely to be blown up by a radical suicidal maniac.
I find it hard to understand why to those radicals everybody is an enemy, women, children, Christians, other Muslims...
692  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: April 08, 2015, 07:56:13 PM
I also live in philoppines . But my example is the current wage in the US, so that their wage is enough to live and they have also a savings. In the philippines the wage of employee is not enough to live, theres many expences, like paying bills, foods and etc. But, if you want really to save, its up to you not in your wage. You have choices save your money if you really want or dont save thats easy.
Are you fuckingkidding me? You are crying about your wages but here in my country you have so low wage that you work 8 hours a day every fucking day except weekends and what do you get?
Fucking 300-400€ per MONTH!!!

I know what you feel. I know people who earn about €400 a month and it's impossible to save anything. You just have enough to pay the bills and buy food, you're basically a slave.
Nobody should live like that, and really it can get even worse when you get old or sick and can no longer work.
693  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 07, 2015, 11:09:56 PM
Let's try a different example, then.

Fiat = a guitar
BTC = an air guitar

Someone could argue that the air guitar has monetary value, but it's up to others to believe it. The real guitar is a physical item. You can see it. You can feel it. It obviously has value because many people use them and buy/sell/trade them.

If someone went around selling guitars, it would be obvious that you either have it or you don't. There's no other way to see it. If you can hold it, you have it.

The air guitar, on the other hand, isn't seen or felt. Someone says "I'll give you this air guitar for $10." You accept. Then they say "hah, just so you know, you got nothing!" Think they're going to trust the next person that offers the same thing? Hell no. And they won't let their friends fall for it, either.

This doesn't discourage people from buying domains and other virtual items. Someone could argue that a domain has real value, as you can directly exchange it to a physical item, if both parties agree on it, but can you see it and hold it? No. Is its value stable and regulated? No, because today it can be worth $10 and next month $1000. Does it mean everyone who failed to make money on domains will lose trust in people selling them? Hell no.  Smiley

694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 07, 2015, 09:17:09 PM
Bitcoin has only a handful of big exchanges. When the Lehman Brothers went bust back in the 2008 crisis, many markets crashed as hard as Bitcoin did after many of its bubbles.
Just like Bitcoin did after the Gox incident, but it's still here. If we managed to survive the death of the biggest and oldest exchange, what's there to worry about?

I wasn't aware that the government didn't support fiat, or that we can hold our bitcoins in our hand, or that fiat isn't widely usable and have shown a history of being accepted everywhere, as well as being guaranteed to have value by the government.

You are quite literally comparing two very different things. Like saying "airplanes must be safe because cars all have airbags!"

I rather feel like I'm comparing a tiny aircraft with a jumbo jet, but both of them are up in the air as we speak and none of them will fall just because somebody decided shoot a pistol in their direction.
Both fiat and Bitcoin won't die just because somebody decided to start a new ponzi.

That has nothing to do with the fact that almost everybody uses fiat and very few know (not even use!) Bitcoin.
Deployment, deployment and mass adoption - that is what we need in the end.
Take your grandparents for example and try to convince them to use Bitcoin instead of fiat (despite many scams being run in fiat as well).
That's true, but we're slowly getting there.
They don't use the internet and ask people to buy stuff online for them, so it's a lost cause, but I doubt scams are the main reason older people use fiat and not BTC. Usually they are to lazy or to afraid to learn something new. Teaching them about Bitcoin is dragging them out of their comfort zone.

695  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Buy a small power plant to just mine? on: April 07, 2015, 08:41:33 PM
Can solar really provide uninterrupted and sustainable power to be used for mining? How does it work during the nigh, there is a some kind of battery I assume?

If you really want to learn there's a ton of pdfs about solar panels you can find online.
Basically the panels are giving you power during the day and charging batteries that are used at night. There's an automatic switch that chooses between the sources and makes you draw power from the batteries not only at night, but also when you're using more than the panels can provide.
Here's an example of such power bank with a controller.

Sure, because there are no ponzis and scams in fiat. Somehow I don't see any markets or currencies die or significantly decline in value just because a bank cheated its clients or got robbed, yet people are making so much fuss when something like this happens in the Bitcoin world. Chill!  Cool
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Losses on: April 07, 2015, 07:56:54 PM
Not a single coin. Haven't been hacked, never invested in a scamcoin or cloud mining, every time I lost something in a casino I always got it back.
I don't call myself lucky but at least I'm not unlucky Tongue
698  Economy / Economics / Re: Seller Adoption Fail on: April 06, 2015, 11:22:32 PM
Yes, but I don't BTCers to buy MØ.  I want you to hold BTC to 0 1000.

Great advice, I'm glad we agree, was planning to do it all along.

You had a typo there, I corrected it for you, no need to thank me.
699  Economy / Speculation / Re: Beginning of a reversal? on: April 06, 2015, 10:08:33 PM
I doubt this scenario but having a lasting uptrend would be really nice for a change.

doesn't happen. Bitcoin only rises for 14 days every 20 months and that's it. "Lasting uptrends" don't happen here.
I guess you haven't been watching Bitcoin before 2014.

i think we are long from 237$...
but we still in short trend for the long run...
just take a look to the MOV 200 daily.

That's how I see it too. A lot of space for shorting, but those waiting for $200 coins will be disappointed.
700  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [05-04-2015] What will become of Bitcoin when cash is banned? on: April 06, 2015, 09:58:47 PM
He must be dreaming, cash won't be banned. The beauty of Bitcoin is people can choose to use it, learn about its pros and cons and decide for themselves.
Banning cash would mean forcing the use of digital currencies on everyone: the old and the young, the rich and the poor, educated and not. I don't know where he got this idea but people will need years to become familiar with the concepts of electronic currency. Maybe for him it's hard to comprehend, but a lot of people still don't have internet, they don't even know what electronic currency is and use only fiat. Yes, there are still places where your wage is put in your hand every month, not wired to the bank and there are still people who never bought anything online.
