I believe you could run 2 cgminers instances at the same time. (One old version that does cpu & one modern version for gpu/asics)

But there is not really any reason to do cpu mining if you have to pay for electricity.
682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: OTHER COINS on: August 27, 2013, 02:21:33 AM
Alt-coins have a purpose, they spread the hashing power over 50+ coins instead of one or two. Could you imagine bitcoin difficulty without alt-coins? Every single miner would be mining bitcoin.

If you're a die-hard bitcoin miner, you should welcome alt-coins because it gets other miners off of your network.

If you have a low hashrate, they're good for you too because they give you a chance to potentially earn a profit by strategizing (gambling) on which coin to mine and hoping profitability fluctuations will go your way.

That may not be their intended purpose, but that's what they're useful for.

I totally disagree with you.

So what if the difficulty was that much higher?  If everyone was participating in just BTC, the market cap (and BTC price) would be a lot higher.  Right now the alt coins are just fragmenting the crypto currency market.  Every new person "thinks" they have an opportunity to make a buck by investing in these (mostly) worthless coins.  These coins bring no value or new innovations.  They are basically a ponzi scheme hoping to attract new victims.  After 3-4 months they all fall in value leaving someone with a deficit in their pocket.  A few altcoins "may" pan out as winners (like ltc, namecoin, ppc, etc) but not the 150 or so we have now.  Most of these are pure CRAP coins.

BTW,  thank you for your AWESOME program and contribution to the community.  You really do have a well written/designed program!!!
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RED] is your site accepting REDCOIN yet? on: August 26, 2013, 03:40:37 AM
No, and it won't accept it. Ever.

Agreed. What we need is no one accepting these shitcoins so they die.

+1

Way to much garbage floating around.

What is the purpose?  I see no reason for this.  Please explain OP.

Another crap coin if you ask me!

I would encourage you to learn more before uttering further unintelligible nonsense.  Tongue

We have an excellent team of hard-working developers, moderators, and staff working around the clock to build the best coin we possibly can. There are hundreds of community members also involved and actively supporting Goldcoin. We released our Android app yesterday and are working tirelessly on several new innovative ideas currently being implemented.

Learn more here: http://www.gldtalk.org

Regardless it is still a worthless crap coin.  Trying to sucker newbies to invest in another "new" alt coin just benefits the original scammers while leaving late comers holding worthless bytes on their hard drive.  Glad you and your team are putting so much hard work and energy in this project.  I will check back in a few months.  We will see what your BS coin is worth.

Ironically you people have been saying such things for months.. and the coin's value has only gone up.  Roll Eyes

It goes up in the short term because other lemmings try jumping on board.  End of the day it will dwindle like chinacoin, devcoin, bytecoin and countless others.  This is just a "tweaked" code of litecoin.  No other worthy benefits.

The thing I have learned from this thread is:

I can post any claim I want, come up with any random link to support that claim, and be sure that about 80% of the people reading my post will assume I'm telling the truth, and/or make assumptions based on their own preconceptions, without even bothering to click the provided link and verify the information.

Rather sad, considering I was just trying to make a joke, and a bit of a point.

Damn you got me Rassah.

I was like a lemming following everyone else's post.  To save a little face, i went back and deleted my posts!  Smiley

691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining through VMware? on: August 25, 2013, 12:41:19 AM
So I have a couple Linux isos laying around on my computer. Would mining through a VMware machine affect speeds, or is it even possible? Just wondering...

Although i have never tried it, I dont see why it wouldnt work with usb hardware (like usb erupters).  Even a rasberry Pi is enough to run the mining software.  If you end up trying it, let us know how it turns out.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Seems GPU mining is getting difficult on: August 24, 2013, 10:14:06 PM
I invested a lot in mining equipments, now i dont have money to buy. I should mine something.

You should then sell all your equipment and reinvest the money!  (Or just keep on doing what your doing and see how far it gets you!)
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Seems GPU mining is getting difficult on: August 24, 2013, 08:49:26 PM

what if we can't mine BTC nor LTC? what should we do ?

Move to country with lower electricity cost / sell gpu / speculate on new coins and mine them/...

How about buying?  If you want to make money with crypto coins trying buying BTC or LTC.  Right now it seems like a better investment then mining them.  You could also try selling a service or product.

If you get caught up trying to buy one of the crap coins out there you might be the last one holding the bag.  Most are just a silly trap for all the newbies who come here looking to make a quick buck.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Seems GPU mining is getting difficult on: August 24, 2013, 08:03:27 PM
try to mine more profitable coins, there are many other coins that profity is 200% of LTC.
and ltc will certanly go up with price.
also look that btc is going up and will go up Smiley

what coins?
Go here: http://www.coinwarz.com (this is only one of the many pages that guides you towards the most profitable coin).

most of them are temporary profitable , not for always

Not only temporary....but ponzi scheme.  Get new people in so original starters get profit. What a scam.....

But yes, ltc difficulty is definately rising faster than profitability.  ASICS are pushing BTC miners over to LTC.  Hopefully LTC prices will rise to make up miner profits.  If not, BTC may be the only true coin to mine if you can get a hold of decent ASICs.

What's ur point?
Maybe he disagrees on price or something ...

Who are you replying to??  A quote would have been nice to give us a clue.

I will assume it was me since your post followed mine.  My point is what the hell does this thread mean?  It appears the OP is replying to someone else or another thread.  Usually when you start a thread you open up with some context that allows the readers to know how to respond to it.  Even you said "Maybe he disagrees on price or something ..."  Who the hell knows because he didn't put any clue in his opening post.

Nice....

Better than nothing.
