701  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX 3/17/14 Update on: March 18, 2014, 02:13:27 AM
I can't really tell the reason why but this new post on their site just made me feel slightly worse about the possible outcomes.
(It shows my correct balances, just like the leaked database did. That's not a problem.)
702  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [GOX] Crime Scene Investigation, Case #MG744 on: March 15, 2014, 01:48:53 AM
I have been trying to read every possible forum posts and online articles about Gox since the BTC withdrawal blocking and I think I ended up with two conclusions:
1: I don't think we will solve this puzzle alone. Nobody knows or tells us enough and many people manage to actually work against each other.
2: At this rate, it's possible for me to reach a point where the time I spend reading about Gox could earn me the BTC (semi-directly in crypto or in fiat integrated at real-time price) I had on Gox if I spent that time working on something actually useful (for example, managing my altcoins and my mining hardwares with more care in this post-callopse-ish situation and/or managing my CE service business).

This Kimoto thing is getting way too boring by now. Do you realize that:
A: it doesn't really ensure anything on a wide scale / long run?
B: even if it seems to do some good, it certainly won't as soon as every single coin use it?
You just can't rape the same idea over and over forever and claim it to be a solution against the whole system. The system will always adapt.
And all this combined with a simple litecoin scrypt after scrypt ASIC is already on our doorsteps (sometimes literally)? Really? Roll Eyes
I think I might should start selling my VGAs. Huh

705  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Deposited to mtgox via OKpay Can i claim it? on: March 13, 2014, 04:08:57 PM
Forget my English. I just wrote something very quickly, so I can possibly point to it later (I felt it's a wasted time and effort to contact them at this poin).

Hy,

I heard from a lot of people on various internet forums that they asked OkPay if they can revert their payments made to MT.Gox (www.mtgox.com - Magical Tux Gothering of Exchange - a Bitcoin cryptocurrency-fiat money exchange site) and got an answer that OkPay's lawyers are looking into it.

I was one of those people who sent fiat money to Mt.Gox to buy Bitcoin but could never actually rceive their Bitcoins because the whole site got shutdown and now the company filed for bankruptcy, etc.

As of this moment, I don't wish to make any requests for anything else but information.
I wish to be notified if OkPay can do and/or willing to do anything like that (reverting the fiat money transactions) or not.

Until it's clear to me what I can possibly do, I don't demand my money back. I would prefer to receive my Bitcoins. And only if I can't get my Bitcoins, I might want to get my money back.

Their full answer way only this:

706  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Help us to identify Mark Karpeles fraudulent past activity on MtGox. on: March 13, 2014, 12:42:23 PM
I am a little confused. I though Magical Tux (the nickname) = Mark Karpeles (the person) and Magical Tux (the nickname, whoever owned it then) opened Mt.Gox (the exchange, which wears his name, Mt.). And now I see Mark bought an existing company but owned the nickname from the begining. How is this add up? Was he a partial owner from the begining and bought the shares of others later?
707  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can we Sue MTGOX for the leaking our Private info ? on: March 13, 2014, 04:08:31 AM
Do we know for sure that hackers in fact got those files?

I am sure that my User_ID is in fact in the leaked database with my correct BTC and EUR balances. (I had to check for myself to get a little shocked. Shocked)
However, I never saw my scanned ID anywhere. Did you...?

And by the way, I suspect that even the database is not entirely correct.

For example, I can't believe Karpeles himself lost ~210k from his own BTC by making bad trades on his own exchange over the years while also paying the regular trading fees.
But may be he "lost" those coins on Mt.Gox deliberately to gain even more somewhere else and he was simply lazy to set up a privileged account for himself with zero trading fees. Roll Eyes

start with your clock speeds, i can go a bit higher on dark as it generates less heat and that gives me more hash rate
then start upping intensity
i get around 18 to 20 intensity before things start acting funny
also i think your drivers may affect your speed as well
13.1 and 13.2 seem to be ok (i run windows so any linux irregularities are a mystery)

May be I wasn't clear about the problem. It's more like a stability than performance problem. Well, it could be either:
A: a stability problem which prevents me from reaching a good performance
B: a performance problem which makes me push the system past it's stable limits in a hope to harness a good enough performance

I started with the clock speeds after my first system wide crash: I lowered them. It didn't help. I don't think higher clock rates would help me stabilize an already unstable system. Roll Eyes

Interesting. My system black out around intensity 14 or xintensity 100. Starting up sph-sgminer for darkcoin with intensity 18 causes an instant system crash.
So, I guess it's case A. I can't reach a good performance due to a stability issue.

I have 290(X) cards and Linux which practically limits me to 13.12 (stable). Older and newer Linux beta drivers for these cards are either unstable/buggy or run sgminer slower.

By the way, I already flashed the cards with Stilt's VBIOSes before I tried mining DarkCoin for the first time. It proved to be nice for both litecoin or vertcoin scrypt and it didn't cause any problems with Keccak either (but of course, it didn't help with SHA-3 which is far less VRAM bandwidth heavy).
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK|Q2C|QRK|MYR] sph-sgminer - multi-algo GPU miner | MYR groestl added! on: March 12, 2014, 01:33:43 AM
It seems to be scarily easy to freeze my whole Linux by experimenting with DarkCoin mining. (I have to go out to the garage and flip the power switch!)
These are my well established settings for the basic sgminer (git master) and the regular litecoin scrypt algo with the good old ckolivas kernel:

Code:
"shaders" : "2560,2560,2560,2816",
"thread-concurrency" : "20480,20480,20480,22528",
"xintensity" : "300",
"lookup-gap" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"worksize" : "512",
"gpu-powertune" : "50",
"gpu-engine" : "1000,1060,1000,1000",
"gpu-memclock" : "1450,1450,1475,1475",
"gpu-fan" : "50-100",
"temp-cutoff" : "99",
"temp-overheat" : "95",
"temp-target" : "85",
"temp-hysteresis" : "2",
"auto-fan" : true,
"failover-only" : true,
"kernel" : "ckolivas",
"log" : "1",
"queue" : "0"

First note: Yes, I know that worksize will actually end up at 256 and LG at 2 but I keep these settings to see if a new sgminer version will actually use these and they don't make a difference now.

If I just simply replace the kernel with "darkcoin" then I get an instant crash.
I figured it out by trial and error that I must use lower intensities. But still, I can't reach a nice performance before I hit a linux-freezer wall with intensity or xintensity (higher values seem to grant me considerably more speed before the system goes dark).

Should I find the highest possible xintensity by trial and error method, or do I need to change something else?
I tried to set below-reference GPU and VRAM clocks, that's not the issue.
I tried ~1.5-2x higher TC values.
(And yes, I tried to set worksize to 256 and LG to 2, even if they end up at that in practice anyway.)

And how can this miner freeze my whole Linux OS anyway?
The basic sgminer or the original cgminer could never do that. I was always able to reboot through SSH, even if X crashed (for example, due to too high over-clocking attempts).
711  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT! Mt.Gox returned my Bitcoins and funds today! on: March 11, 2014, 09:17:25 PM
I know, right...? I never saved any BTC withdraw addresses (because I never even tried to withdraw any BTC) but somehow he figured it out where to send my coins (even though I didn't even ask for a withdrawal, but he knew I probably want that in this situation). He even rounded up my BTC balance from 7.999somehing to 8 as a small apology for the situation.
Unfortunately I can't prove this because the exe file from the mtgox2014leak.zip destroyed my wallet.dat along with any backups and I didn't memorize my address (I can't even imagine how a computer virus on my PC could destroy an SDcard and a CD-R laying on my desk, it must have been black magic or dark force art).
712  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I suspect Gox sold customer bitcoin for FIAT themselves -fractional reserve - on: March 10, 2014, 07:58:30 PM
Accoring to Mt.Gox leaked file 951K BTC are supposed to be in accounts, but net BTC balance is only 450K.  So where did the other 501K BTC disappear to?

But wouldn't this mean that we can still hope to get almost half of our BTC? (Assuming a higher authority enforces and/or >=50% of the users agrees to this solution.)
I think I would be relatively "happy" with that solution in the given circumstances. Half of >0 is still infinitely more than 0. Roll Eyes

@ okaypool admin -> You must correct the stratum address and the [app] coin port number in the MPOS template.
It surely can't be "localhost". That would be solo-mining, not pool-mining, lol. Grin

Anyone else want to contribute to a bounty to a team-leader who can unite the forks and get everyone playing ball?

Didn't the dev offer the pre-mine to new dev, if no-one has taken up this offer, another k or 2 wont do it either  Sad

Exactly. And by my math, even if someone was able to perform the hoop-jumping required to get all of the pools / miners / wallets onto a single chain, the pre-mine wouldn't come close to covering the losses sustained by the pools and their miners. Not to mention that a fair chunk of the PoW time has already been lost and very few people (if any) would trust the coin after this debacle.

Just let it die already and move on.

yeah I am waiting for the other upcoming shitcoins with fail launches!

Check out the 365 thread, I am starting to have a Déjà vu there after this one. Too bad, I like the concept of DC.

The is a small cosmetic bug in the latest Windows wallet.
It says I am mining with 0 hash/sec even though I am definitely not (I didn't set gen=1 in the config, and my CPU usage is ~0%, so my CPU isn't mining anything).

minepool365.cloudapp.net is still finding blocks.

Until the nodes that are wrong leave the network the front end refuses to update.

---

I have to go to sleep now. Will be back up in around 5 hours. Everything should be fine whilst I am away and hopefully the nodes will have sorted themselves out Smiley

I don't know if things are indeed fine or possibly catastrophic, but this can very well be a siuation like:
"I can't believe so many people mistankenly choose the wrong side of the motorway this morning when I am too tired for this madness. They must stop driving into the wrong direction, so I can have a free lane and finally get up to speed." Grin

So, I took the chance to make the very first sell offer on pmtocoins. I hope you will agree that 1000 BTC/365 was a fair starting price. Wink
That's Just About Right Wink

Good strategy - a nice lowball offer just to get the wheels greased. Thanks for helping us out.

Aaaaaaand someboy already sells for 499. Roll Eyes

Please stop posting offtopic! Angry
Seriously, you should understand that people who had non-empty accounts on Gox are eager to read any kind of news about Gox. They don't want to open a Gox thread with unread posts and find irrelevant informations about small issues with another, unrelated exchanges. Undecided
