701  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the mempool being jammed solid for a few days now good or bad for the price? on: November 25, 2016, 03:27:52 AM
If it isn't resolved in the next few days it will become a problem.
Bitcoin is a payment system first and foremost.

It is used as an investment because the full potential wasn't realized, and as user-base increased, so did the price of each coin.
But if it can't be used for its primary purpose, the value will be decreased.
Or at least stagnate.
702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin fees, where's your limit? on: November 24, 2016, 10:59:07 PM
franky1 brings up a good point.
I don't have a problem paying five or ten cents for a transaction, but in some areas, this would be much more money based on living wages.

We need to give miners a reason to process transactions, but keeping fees low will help spread the use of Bitcoin.
I really don't know the right answer.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BASH] LuckChain, Blockchain Bet Platform, YoBit C-CEX ICO Escrow on: November 24, 2016, 09:17:06 PM
It seems like the devs are doing a good amount of work on this project, so expect to see many new things before January!
Still picking up a couple coins when I can. Smiley
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be fair to say no one actually uses any of these alts... on: November 24, 2016, 06:55:15 PM
99.99% of altcoins are just for trading.
98% of coins probably die off in the first year or two.
(I'm sure someone has the actual statistics.)

Most devs don't actually care about the coin for the long term, anyways.
They care about an ICO, or premine so they can dump on the exchange, take their profits and let the coin die off.
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 24, 2016, 06:43:26 PM
Jaxx wallet (supposedly) a bit closer to completion.

JaxxJohn: ...yes, we are currently working with fluffyponyza to get integration finished. I should have some more updates soon Cheesy

Really hoping I can pick up a few more coins before we have working GUI wallets up and running, because I believe this is one of the only things holding XMR back at this point.
706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I wanted to talk with Satoshi Nakamoto on: November 24, 2016, 06:25:04 PM
In my opinion, Satoshi is probably dead.

Is this the theory that Dave Kleiman (and possibly Craig Wright) was Satoshi but Craig didn't actually have access to the entirety of Daves keys when he claimed to be Satoshi?
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XDN (DigitalNote) Price Speculation on: November 24, 2016, 06:16:00 PM
Be careful depositing at poloniex, your coins can be lost (not a payment ID issue)

I know they had withdraw/ deposit disabled for a LONG time,
now it's enabled, but you are saying people are still having issues?
708  Economy / Speculation / Re: will Black Friday have any effect on the price of Bitcoin? on: November 24, 2016, 06:14:21 PM
On other side, 63% of Americans don't want buy on Black Friday this year ...

Yes, personally I'm not looking to spend much this year,
but that is because I already bought a new laptop I needed for work some months ago,
and I'm saving money to buy a new watch.
(I also try to save more money in general these days.)

I never really understood the appeal of sleeping outside a store to get 25% off a TV anyways.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: November 24, 2016, 02:30:57 PM
One thing that game developers must consider if they add any form of real payment into the game-
how do you plan to deal with botting, or do you even care?

Any game that offered any form of real earning would instantly be flooded with botters trying to earn cash without actually playing the game.
Devs would need to decide if they want to give money to these people, and if not, how do they prevent them from running bots.
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell is it poloniex doesn't add waves? on: November 24, 2016, 02:13:36 PM
If Poloniex adds Waves, is there a chance the price will go up?
It seems like being added to one of the largest exchanges would add a lot of legitimacy to the project.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: R.I.P Ethereum - The Pre-Mined ScamCoin is dead on: November 24, 2016, 02:09:23 PM
What we need to look at is,
what can you actually do with ETH at this point?
Its traded on exchanges, its even got integration on platforms like Coinbase, which was a huge deal, being able to convert back and forth to fiat.
There are apps like Augur in the works that are built on the ETH platform.

But what do you actually do with ETH? Can you pay for any goods/ services with it?
Since the answer seems to be no, comes the next question.
Is ETH actually worth almost $10?
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy XRP when volume kicks in on: November 24, 2016, 01:27:04 PM
Thanks for re-posting image!

I'm not sure what to make of Ripple.
It's an interesting project, has the support of some large banks, has high volume, but price seems to have stagnated.
I was predicting a rise in price and put a lot of my investment in XRP a couple months ago, now I'm sitting here unsure of what to do...
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ZECD and LSK goinf to pump again? on: November 24, 2016, 01:23:57 PM
Lisk probably has decent long-term potential, I'm fairly certain the price will rise eventually.
(But that could be weeks or months from now.)
If you have another investment you know will turn a profit in the short-term, you could always sell for a loss and buy back in.
714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Online Wallet iPayYou Adds Bitcoins to Amazon Shopping on: November 24, 2016, 11:11:06 AM
I've never used this company before, but I like some of the features they are talking about, like sending BTC to Twitter accounts and being able to buy things on Amazon.

However, this article points out one of the problems we still have with Bitcoin.
"In the background iPayYou actually buys digital gift card balances via ACI, a Washington-based company, and transfers those fiat balances from its own Amazon account onto the user’s personal account at Amazon."

So we are not just relying on one third-party service, but two, to get these transactions accomplished.
If Bitcoin is ever going to see mass adoption, we need sites like Amazon to accept BTC directly, instead of relying on multiple parties, and multiple transaction fees-
"iPayYou charges 1% per transaction, minimum 1 USD, plus the network fee (around 0.13 USD at the time of writing). For example, a 16.95 USD purchase would deduct 18.08 USD from your iPayYou account (for a total fee of approx. 7%)."
715  Economy / Economics / Re: why the sudden increase of Forex topics in this board. on: November 24, 2016, 12:46:11 AM
Most people that buy bitcoin/ altcoins are doing so as a form of investment.
(Unless they are just buying drugs on the darknet or something.)
So you are going to naturally attract the type of person that may become interested in forex investments.
Many coin traders also invest in stocks, bonds, forex, commodities and probably a few things I'm not thinking of.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy XRP when volume kicks in on: November 24, 2016, 12:42:52 AM
Image is censored. Sad
Would be great if you could post it again.
Interested to see the charts you are basing this off, since I'm trying to learn more about reading indicator graphs.
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: True anonymous altcoin!? on: November 24, 2016, 12:37:34 AM
How does Ebitz handle the trusted setup issue?
(By far the worst feature of Zcash in my opinion.)
718  Economy / Speculation / will Black Friday have any effect on the price of Bitcoin? on: November 24, 2016, 12:35:50 AM
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the United States, and the following day, "Black Friday", one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
Economists are busy trying to predict how much people will spend in stores and online (including "Cyber Monday" the following week- a huge online shopping day)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_(shopping)

"If consumers follow up Thanksgiving by spending a lot of money on Black Friday – and retailers show strong numbers – then investors might have their first indication that it is shaping up to be a particularly profitable shopping season. This confidence is reflected in the stock market. In this manner, Black Friday could be considered a leading indicator for the markets."

"Shoppers told us they plan to spend 10% more this holiday season; an average of $1,121 each."
http://www.pwc.com/us/en/retail-consumer/assets/pwc-2016-holiday-report-interactive.pdf

So, how does a strong US economy- as shown with the recent rise in the US stock market, bode for the price of Bitcoin in the coming months?
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: R.I.P Ethereum - The Pre-Mined ScamCoin is dead on: November 22, 2016, 11:23:14 PM
I'm glad someone bumped this old thread,
just to see someone talking about how LTC was going to reach $100 a coin.
720  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000+ is anytime now on: November 22, 2016, 11:18:56 PM
It's a nice thought, but I'm not sure what you are basing these predictions on.
How many Bitcoin are really being sold in India? The 'financial crisis' was a bit overstated from what I've seen.

No big news, no new services accepting Bitcoin,
maybe Mega will announce something soon but unless we hear some big developments I can't really see how the price will break $800.
