Can we mine this coin? Or this coin POS only?

Nope already premined all 1 billion of them 50 million in the wild 50 being held, but the POS gets you gas that you can sell on exchanges Smiley

Only way to get Neo coin is via exchanges..

Not 1 billion, 100 million total NEO.

I can confirm this math is true: 1 block per day from staking 1000 rads on long run, even after bt1033 was joined

Ok, I adjusted the power savings mode on my PC, it must be sleeping or something.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RADS] Radium - Bringing Advanced Utility to the Blockchain on: August 20, 2017, 11:37:55 AM
I've been staking with about 800 RADS since 8/12, and have only received two payouts, both on 8/14. Is this normal? I was expecting more like 1 reward every 1.25 days on average with my holdings. I have running my wallet open for staking 24/7, and I have set my PC to never sleep.

Sounds pretty normal... i think a lot of new coins just moved to staking though, so you might be fighting a little more weight on the network for a block than ppl are used to.
Seems a  little low to me. I usually get a block every other day. (per1000 coins) Maybe just an unlucky streak. It should improve.

Are you still getting that much in the last week? As dbt1033, a lot of buyers came in recently and are staking.

Query-My understanding was that for every 1000 NEO one would earn approximately .44 NEO Gas/day.  Based on my experience I seem to be earning something much less than that (i.e.,  approximately .22 NEO Gas/day).  Anyone have a similar calculation on their gas/day?  Thanks in advance.

In my real world experience, I find I am getting about 0.30 GAS per 1000 NEO per day. It is important to make sure your wallet fully syncs up to the network for your GAS total for the day.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: August 19, 2017, 11:12:34 AM
i want to acquire some sia, but before i do that i need fully synced wallet, does anyone knows how much bandwidth will be required and how long will it take for client to fully sync?

Not sure about bandwidth, but running the wallet on an SSD is dramatically faster than trying to synch with an HHD. We are talking hours vs days.

I think there needs to be more marketing of some kind involved
for SIA, I dont think people understand that you can HOST and
STORE files already with SIA.

and if you HOST you get rewarded!

In their recent tri-annual report they have already indicated they will do a bigger effort in marketing. The team had already a PR (Zack Herbert) and now they have hired a Community Rep (@Steve).

Also, all the marketing on earth is worthless if people do not check the sources and try to learn, instead of just reading the trading charts of coins. For what you mention, anybody spending 10 minutes in Sia's webpage (https://sia.tech/) will know immediately that the network is already working for storing files (it has been working for more than 2 years), and that hosts are rewarded for that. And if the spend 15 minutes more reading the wiki (https://siawiki.tech/) they will go from zero to hero  Wink

Yea, also follow Sia on twitter at: https://twitter.com/SiaTechHQ  as they put out a tweet or so a day.

They don't seem to market on this board for some reason.

Did you see from the tweet from yesterday:

From the triannual update: file contracts have doubled from about 100 TB to 200 TB in the last four months. https://blog.sia.tech/sia-may-august-2017-update-8929f21c56f7

I STILL hold a LOT of SIA but I am really LOSING my hope.

how about you friends?

I will sell it all today and put it in Decentraland ICO.

No, I am a long term investor, but if you are impatient and can't wait years, please sell. The sooner we get out the weak hands the better.
Taking over cloud storage is a long game.

Can I trust this guy?
new Sleeping Giant 2017 - Radium (Rads) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2084797.0

He has made a couple incredible calls with Decred at $.40 and SC, I would pay attention.
Yep, I remeber DCR, but missed SC, it was very nice bull run.
Do you know how he is able to pump the price, is he a early adopter of BTC and has enough funds?

Well he tells a few friends and helps out the RADS community. But above all you should do you due diligence before jumping in. In some ways he got lucky with DCR and SC as they whole crypto market rose quite a bit in the spring.

I find the idea of dating on the blockchain hilarious.

I also find the #blockchainEverything trend is unnecessary.

I dont like matchpool  Roll Eyes

I remember thinking how stupid twitter was when it came out. Boy was I wrong. I wouldn't bet the house on GUP, but I think it is an interesting idea, and hey you never know.

Is Neo's POS stake work the same as Decred does?

Icon

No, with Decred, you need stake by buying tickets which vote on average in 30 days. Plus decred awards more decred, while NEO awards GAS.  With Neo, you simply need to hold it in your wallet though a few exchanges now award GAS (bittrex soon likely)
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Decred: The Sleeping Giant. 2017's Best Investment. on: August 15, 2017, 10:54:49 PM
I took the tour on Decred site and understoon almost nothing. Why is it better than any other cryptocurrency? Why should I use DCR for transfering funds? I can use whatever currency I want, LTC, BTS, etc. I just don't see what is DCR edge over others...?
This topic already not actual, it's more about new Sleeping Giant 2017 - Radium (Rads) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2084797.0
It is not a sleeping giant at all. The 2017 is about to end and still this giant is sleeping. When it is going to wake up? The only giant of the crypto world is bitcoin and nothing else can replace it. Bitcoins are unbeatable no matter how much you pump any other coin.

Maybe, but I am hedging my bets, and not all altcoins are tying to bitcoin anyway. Certainly decred is but, RADS, SC, FCT, GAME, KMD, NEO... are all trying to do something else with the blockchain.

Aye. It's an interesting but rarely aired factoid, that. Their very early plans were humming with idealism that closely aligns with crypto's ideas. Then I guess they became rich and evil like everyone else.

LOL: they became rich and evil like everyone else
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: August 15, 2017, 10:45:48 PM
To collect interest, do you need to send the entire balance or just a small amount like .001 KMD? I have sent a small amount and noticed maybe 2/3 of my interest is credited but not all, might this be why?

These two links state both ways:
https://support.supernet.org/support/solutions/articles/29000011838-how-to-claim-your-interest - whole balance

https://steemit.com/wallet/@alberm/agama-wallet-komodo-kmd-interest - says small amount.

To claim interest you must spend the utxo related to the interest. Since coin control evades most people and it is not easily done I suggest you send the entire balance. This guarantees you are including said utxo in the transaction which in turn claims your interest. Use the guide we published in supernet.org.

Thanks, where can I learn more about sending just the utxo related to the interest? I am much more comfortable sending .001 KMD multiple times then my entire balance. I double check my address but, one mistake and everything could be gone!

Since I filled my wallet with 3 different purchases, they must be under different utxo's. Is interest collect also a differnt utxo?
each utxo accrues interest independently
you can do a listunspent command to find out how many utxo you have
then do that many 0.001 tx one after the other before the previous ones get confirmed

that way all the utxo will get used up.

the rules are quite simple, i have stated them many times, i guess I can again:

1. must be over an hour old
2. must be for 10 or more KMD
3. must have nLockTime set

accrues up to 5% of utxo amount at a rate of 5% per year

when you spend that utxo you are able to collect the accrued interest for that utxo.

Just actively using your funds will have the effect of collecting most of the interest. but to be sure to collect, you can do any variety of methods that ends up using the utxo with accrued interest.

you could even make a special program that identifies all the utxo with enough meaningful interest accrued and specifically spend only those utxo. Using standard createrawtransaction, signrawtransaction and spendrawtransaction will be sufficient.

If somebody wants to write such a utility, my guess is he would get quite a lot of donations and maybe even a bounty can be created

So I found a way of collecting interest, just by sending .001 KMD instead of my entire balance. The key is to make sure your smallest transaction has accumulated 10 KMD in interest (as required by the KMD protocol). In my case I had sent KMD to my wallet 3 times, with the smallest transaction being ~8900 KMD. It takes about 8.2 days for 8900 KMD to accumulate 10 KMD. So I simply wait 9 days and then send .001 KMD and I see virtually all the interest is sent.

Here is the formula for knowing how long it takes to collect 10 KMD:

# of days to collect 10 KMD = 10/((#KMD of smallest transaction in wallet x 5%)/365 days in the year)

So in my case:

10/((8900 x .05)/365) = 8.202

While I'm glad to see it clawing its way back from the brink of nothing but a landslide ever since I put money in what could be the reason for the small uptrend just now? After reading a bunch of information about how fees and prices need to he kept as low as possible how can something like sia ever reach something like the $1 stage? (If ever etc)

Sure, but not for a few years. If they become the go to cloud storage provider at 1$/coin there valuation would be ~28 Billion+, which is must less the valuation of many tech companies in terms of stock market valuation.
