We forked this morning but most nodes are on the right fork, the wallet update is keeping us stable for the most part till we get some more pools up. You should be at 5627

Features of this update
-included vericoin.conf and bootstrap.dat file to put in C\Users\username\AppData\VeriCoin (show hidden files to see AppData)
-Added checkpoints for the correct block from the fork yesterday
-Adds Staking checkpoints and fixes a lingering staking bug we had
-Extra Windows 7 Compatibility for the crashes some were experiencing
-Easier to compile on your own for Windows and Linux if you so desire

This update combined with more than 2 pools we think will greatly stabilize the network.

After installing this update if you still have some issues it might be that your wallet.dat file needs to be refreshed with a new database so follow these instructions which deal directly with the other issue we had that was caused by the fork.

We are still up, working on the new wallet, almost there..

Problem 2 walk through:

If you have a wallet.dat error on your wallet window:

-In view menu show hidden files, now you can see AppData in C\Users\username.

-Go into AppData\Roaming\VeriCoin

-Make a copy of wallet (DAT File type) and put it on your Desktop and ensure you have a copy on your Desktop

-When you are sure you have wallet on your Desktop, delete everything in this folder

-Go here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9j2rF3pLtDvLS0zNk95LVBRb28/edit?usp=sharing

-Now download vericoin.conf and bootstrap.dat to this folder (C\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\VeriCoin)

-Now download vericoin-qt.exe from link and save it anywhere you like

-Open this vericoin-qt.exe

-Blockchain will update and you will have no coins

-Once your wallet is up to date close it

-Now take the wallet(DAT) file from your Desktop and paste it into C\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\VeriCoin replacing the former

-Now open the vericoin-qt.exe you just downloaded again

-You should now have your coins, be on the correct blockchain and up to date.

Hi Everybody,

Sorry for the problems we experienced today, there were two issues occurring at the same time and it was difficult to deconstruct but we've figured it out.

The two separate problems are as follows, you may have experienced 1, 2 or both in some cases.

Problem 1:
If you are running the windows wallet on windows 7 and are experiencing crashes, then your issue will be addressed in an update to the wallet software coming later tonight.  Your wallet is ok, we have a forward compatibility issue because the wallet was compiled using Windows 8 and that creates some library conflicts with windows 7 computers.  You don't have to do anything but update to the new wallet later tonight.

Problem 2:
If you received a wallet.dat error on the left corner of your wallet window, then you had problem 2.  Good news is there is a simple fix.
This is a result of the forking which is less likely to occur tomorrow because we at least 3 pools at the moment, making it much more difficult to hit 51% on any of them.  My next post will be a walk through on how to fix Problem 2.

Great!  I think the staking prevented us from forking there, but we would be best with a third pool (it's hard to take ~66%).  Yes if you could do a third pool that would be awesome!  You guys could get another bounty for it too.  Thanks testbug you have been great!

Hey guys, thanks for bearing with us.  I think I found a fix for the issue some clients have been having and a way to protect the network from forks.  Doing some testing then posting the update to the site.  However we do need more than two pools, is there anyone who can launch a third pool?  The multi pools/farms are disturbing the network spread.

So it seems 2-3% of the wallets are experiencing this issue.  Working on a fix for this, I'll post it to the site tonight.  Your coins are not in danger if you don't delete your wallet.dat.  The network is solid and not forked.  If you have tried the things listed and still can't resolve the issue then wait for the update tonight.

Also you can try running with no vericoin.conf file and wait for a connection or only add this node: 107.170.140.210

In testing and now I have had numerous windows wallets running without a hitch and have not seen this error. What version of windows are you running?

you could also make a new wallet.dat by copying the key from it and pasting it into a new file.  It might of been corrupted.

try deleting your vericoin.conf file as well.  Then launch it, if it crashes launch it again. Don't delete wallet.dat

-If you haven't yet download new version posted this morning do that

-As sdmathis said put addnode=107.170.140.210 in your vercoin.conf file (%Appdata%\Roaming\Vericoin folder (Windows))

-If still you have problems delete everything in %Appdata%\Roaming\Vericoin except wallet.dat and vericoin.conf

With PoS fully active now, it will be much more difficult to fork.
