Dopo giorni di prove sono riuscito a compilare bitcoind per essere utilizzato su piattaforma ARM. Il nas ha come processore un Marvell Kirkwood mv6281. Sul forum americano ho postato il file creato e delle istruzioni su come farselo sa se... Lo script con un po di modifiche potrebbe andare bene per qualsiasi piattaforma ARM (Raspberry incluso). C'è da considerare che ora il nas sta scaricando il blockchain aggiornato e il povero processore è al 100% di carico lavoro. Sono curioso di vedere se una volta terminato, se il carico di lavoro diminuisce.. Facevo 2 conti sul forum in inglese che se i produttori di ASIC non si sanno regolare sul numero di unità messe in produzione si taglieranno da soli le pal possibilità di vendita: se la difficoltà salisse a 40X (circa 5-6 volte gli ASIC attualmente in ordine secondo diverse stime) un rig (indipendentemente dalla potenza sviluppata visto che i MH/watt sono praticamente costanti) si pagherà a malapena la corrente consumata negli USA con il prezzo attuale dei bitcoin. In molte delle nazioni europee viaggerebbe in perdita secca.
Questa corsa al rig dal GH/sec più alto così come è concepita la rete è follia pura seconda me, visto che alcuni costi non sono scalabili (corrente ad esempio) e che il prezzo dei bitcoin è ancora ampiamente sopravvalutato (ricordiamoci che buona parte dei bitcoin non vengono spesi e che anche solo metà di questi venisse messa sul mercato il prezzo calerebbe nella fascia 2-4€/BTC con la quantità di scambi di mercato che ci sono).
Tra l'altro la spiegazione di BFL sull'aumento di sicurezza della rete contro attacchi del 51% è assolutamente errata IMHO: con le schede video, anche ammesso che un pinco pallino con 200M$ da spendere volesse tentare l'attacco sarebbe dovuto passare attraverso i produttori di schede video che difficilmente avrebbero potuto soddisfare velocemente ordini così grossi, oltre ad avere oggettivi problemi di gestione per i consumi e gli spazi occupati. Oggi produrre un ASIC dato un campione (e soprattutto dato il firmware che ci gira) è solo questione di tempo e di soldi; far costruire 10.000 rig da 1THash per 200M$ aspettare 6 mesi che siano pronti e prendere il controllo della rete non è cosa così fuori portata per grosse realtà.

There's a substantial financial incentive for them to drop their prices once business slows down - the marginal cost of ASICs is fairly low and the up-front cost fairly high, and they probably want to make as much money on that upfront investment as possible. Of course, that doesn't leave much room for purchasers of BFL's devices to cover their investments either. Indeed pushing too much power in the network in a time brings to very low profit unless price of btc skyrockets. So if ASIC producer don't want to kill themself they have to don't reduce price or put too many ASIC out. Doing some small calculation if network power jumps at 40X a 60GH/s ASIC can barely cover the energy costs in USA and noway is profitable in lot of European country (in Italy you've to add 500$ in a year to cover energy cost). So or price of BTC double in next few months or power increment due to ASIC introduction will not be over a 20-25X or there'll be no profit in mining |

I'm totally with you, and is a pity because it would be a great thing if it worked a bit better, but with this loan failure is really too dangerous to invest here  A small suggestion to Tulkas: to reduce the fraud and the damage to lender you can keep a warranty from the borrowed amount, proportional to the credit rating. I mean something like: (15-(credit ratining))%, so if you have a 0C.R. you have 15% of loan as warranty, if you've 8 point you have 7% and if you've 10 you leave 5%. You can also ask a small amount to subscribe as lender (0,5-1BTC) to reduce the risk of sockpuppet accounts and to create a small fund (in wich you can keeping a 0.5/1% of every loan as warranty too) to cover unpayed loans. At the end of the loan payment you can unlock the money minus your % and the warranty fund. In the event the loan will not be repayed you can use the kept BTCs plus a part of the warranty fund to cover a part of the debt (losing a 75-80% is better than 100%), meanwhile we really hope that you can enforce in someway the loan payments. Yes, we are working towards enforcement, etc. I would also like to note that the service today is far from perfect, but we believe it represents a major improvement on the rater manual procedures used on this forum, good payers are building good reputation profiles already. One good thing that is already happening is the scammers are being casted out too, we had two cases of scammers trying to get other accounts verified with no luck. Takes time to build an ecosystem, but it is being built. We have several good payers and the majority of loans are being paid on time, that being said we think perhaps we should add more moderation on users and listings instead of just let the "system" regulate itself. Glad to hear, the idea of a moderator is nice too even if not so easy to implement I really like the idea behind btcjam and I really hope that the ecosystem of user become every day more "secure". I'm not blaming you for the scammers obviously, and I know that especially at the beginning is really difficult to recognize them and to keep a clean user base. I only suggest a way to reduce the risks for lenders and to improve the platform. Maybe adding the statistics of payed loans/total and the list of bad payers in a section accessible by registered user will help in increase confidence in lender. |

Do you have news on enforcements of loans? Now I've 5 people overdue loans (of which 3 have 8/10 of credit rating) and only 4 that have repayed them.

Strano: qui su Torino è uno di quelli con il ricarico più basso (non so in altre città come sono i prezzi e non prendo in considerazione i prezzi bassi di alcuni shop online perchè sono o di provenienza extra italiana o con loschi giri di IVA o in paio di casi - purtroppo - gli stessi grossisti che vendono anche al dettaglio con un ricarico del 2-5% sul prezzo che fanno all'ingrosso, ma poi non gestiscono la garanzia in modo corretto). Ad ogni modo se sai di posti con prezzi più convenienti passami pure l'indicazione che glielo dico così vede se riesce ad approvigionarsi negli stessi posti. |

Una cosa ho notato. La conversione in btc non è aggiornata... o, se lo è, è più alta rispetto al prezzo mtgox di almeno 10 punti. In questo caso non ha senso pagare un btc. Preferibile venderli e pagarti in euro..

Ciao a tutti, un amico con uno shop on line di materiale informatico sta valutando l'opzione BTC. Al momento sul sito non è possibile acquistare direttamente in BTC perchè la versione del programma di ecommerce che usa non è supportata in pieno e avendo oltre 15000 articoli a listino, oltre a script personalizzati per gestire i listini, diventa difficile effetturare una migrazione rapida. Lo shop è qui: mambastore.it Tra le tante cose che vende ci sono da segnalare i computer (sia fissi che portatili) senza S.O. e con la possibilità di avere Linux preinstallato e configurato gratuitamente (gestiamo una distro linux sviluppata completamente da zero che si chiama openmamba che viene testata su tutto l'hardware) e i tablet android con Linux installato in "dualboot". Voleva valutare l'interesse che potrebbe eventualmente esserci nella cosa prima di sobbarcarsi il lavoro di migrazione e di riscrittura degli script. Fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate . I am experiencing some problems after upgrading from 0.6.3 to 0.7.1 on the bitcoind that I use to process pyramining deposits and payouts. It is running on Linux (OpenSuSE 11.2).
My upgrade procedure:
- stopped 0.6.3 bitcoind
- replaced binaries with 0.7.1 ones
- started 0.7.1 bitcoind
At first, I had to download again all the blockchain because for some reason it was displaying the message "WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.", and I didn't find out how to repair it.
After the blockchain has been downloaded, it started working as expected, but after about 20 hours, I found it hung up and unresponsive. No way to stop it or kill it, even with -9.
After a reboot it started and worked well for a couple of hours, then the same trouble appeared again.
Environment:
ATOM D2500 dual core (64bit arch), 4GB/ram, 60Gb SSD, 100mbit/s ip connectivity, OpenSuSE Linux 12.1.
wallet.dat is around 200MB in size.
Behaviour: after working normally for few hours, it freezes. Debug log displays RPC commands, but they never return any result.
I am currently downgrading to 0.6.3, I will keep an eye open to see if the issue disappears using this version.
Strange: I use 0.7.1 on 2 different PC with no issues (I've upgraded them from 0.6.3 to 0.7 and then 0.7.1). Do you've compiled yourself the program or you're using the precompiled version? Give a try at the RPM version or try to remove the blk* files in the bitcoin directory |

Trying to log-in through google authentication, but all I get is this error anybody else having the same problem? Yes: both from google and facebook. I've already seen this error in the past days but on a second attempt of login it has worked, so I've thinked of a temporary network problem. Today is not working even after 4 or 5 attempts. Now seems to work again |

Reading the small prints: you can withdrawal any amount you want; the 5BTC a limit for the web ATM only. Just send them a mail
