721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC Peercoin P2Pcoin price fluctuations on: October 14, 2013, 09:47:33 PM
PPC's price seems to have climbed recently. Does anyone know what may be contributing to this?

4. Cryptocoin mining should be as distributed as possible, these mega-multi-pools only cause trouble by creating mass spikes of supply where its not wanted and the market no longer needs it.

Irony much?

What irony?

It's not important, carry on...

I don't see how it matters, gox is fading into irrelevancy at best

Not sure if I'm the only one who didn't know this because their FAQ didn't mention it. Know a lot of people here use it. Cryptsy is charging a 0.1% fee on their auto sell feature. Fees, fees, fees. Can't make anything with all these fees.

.1% is not that bad when you compare to what the autoexchanging multipools charge.

However, I've turned most of my autosells off on cryptsy because they don't work half the time anyway.

SHA-256 multiport stats page is up.  To get there click on "Multiport" then "sha-256" where the currency selector normally is.

API add requests/ideas:

to unauthorized call:

"multipool":{coin:value,connections:value,switchdate:value,24hourprofitability:value,status:value}

Flound I am working on some app cleanup, any chance of adding some nice points to the API?

Sure email me with whatever you need.

Flound, is there some way we can see txid's for payouts?  Cryptsy is having frequent issues with deposits and vern needs the txid's on support tickets.

I will add that to the payout history as soon as I can.  Right now you should be able to look up the address in the blockchain for the coins that have block explorers and see the txid's that way.

If there could be sha256 merged mining on multipool that would be awesome. Get some ixcoins and namecoins for free on top of btc.

Set my bitfury 2.5gh/s miners to 32 diff, seems to work ok.

Merged mining is on the todo list.

With the recent update to the main page to show top 5 coins, if I'm mining a coin directly that doesn't show in the top 5 at the moment, how do I tell what my unconfirmed earnings are for that coin?

Thanks.

JR

You can acces the stats page here: https://www.multipool.us/stats.php . Flound should do a button to it on the multipool bar.

Nice. Thanks.

The "Pool Stats" link goes there now by default.  To get to a specific coin you need to use the currency selector.

Not sure yet what to think of btc mining at multipool if we keep switching to other coins before ever finding a first block.

Even at 10 TH we'd still only find about one block per day.  Variance will be high until we reach the neighborhood of 100 TH. (or the equivalent at future difficulties)

There is a small loss of efficiency from switching (about 1% over 10 minutes).  For both coins that we switch to (TRC and ZET) we're normally on them for way more than 10 minutes, and since the profitability needs to be more than 1% higher to even consider switching, it more than makes up for the small loss in efficiency.

There's also a very minute chance that a block could be found just as we switch (far less than 1%).

The proportional payout system ensures that all shares will be paid when a block is finally found, so really the risk/reward of switching should be obvious..  If we didn't switch we wouldn't be Multipool.

I still cannot mine on eu pool. Either I cant connect or I get stratum disconnect after few secs or just all my cards perform at 600 instead of 700 Mhash. Me an eu pool dont get along Wink

Anyway now US pool is starting to report strange things aswell. Like spamming pool diff change between 64 and 512 8 times in a row or something like:

Json argument invalid, auth failed, null, (while this happen i get getwork failure but happily miner resumes normally.)

The pool shouldn't have anything to do with the hashrate reported by your miner (or are you talking about the hashrate reported by the pool?)

What is the exact URL you're using to connect?

The strange auth stuff should be fixed tonight.  It's a bug I introduced recently.  It's fixed in one of the branches of stratum, I just need to merge it into the other two.

The reason you see diff changing between 512 and <your selected diff> is because I had to set the pool defaults to 512 to avoid lots of "share is above target" errors with the custom diff code when some miners connect.  If I set the default diff to 1 or don't set a difficulty, some miners will simply begin mining with that difficulty (1 or 0) and then they'll queue a shitload of invalid shares.  After the selected diff is set by the pool, they try to submit those shares and all are rejected.

Ya same type of question.. what will be the minimum auto payout amount for BTC?  It surely can't be 1BTC..lol  Might want to make a page or state it on account page what minimum auto payouts for all coins are.  Thank you!

Smiley

It won't be 1 BTC, I haven't decided yet whether it will be .1 or .01.  I'm leaning toward .1.

Does someone have an idea to which diff I should set my 2x 2.5GH miners? Does the diff setting work on the EU Asic Mpool?

You want to be submitting a share every 3-5 seconds, use whatever gives you that.  8 or 16 should probably work well.
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: October 12, 2013, 09:04:47 AM
Just curious, maybe this was already addressed but why no peercoin on the sha256 multiport?

I attempted, but we were having some problems with block submission and PPC doesn't have a working testnet, unfortunately, so I was unable to resolve the issue.

I will be giving it another go soon.

737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: October 12, 2013, 09:03:35 AM
Looks like there were some stratum disconnect issues on the WDC EU pool..  Have been working on that for the last hour or so and I think I have finally resolved it.
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: October 12, 2013, 07:22:24 AM
Is there something wrong with the site or WDC?  I have been mining WDC directly for a few days now and having consistent payouts. Recently looks like my confirmed has locked and my unconfirmed has as we'll for a number of hours now.  even with the mp on WDC not seeing any movement.  Also even though I've exceeded my payout threshold it's not paying out.

Confirms of the found blocks seem stuck to.

Thanks.

Is there something wrong with the BTC pool?  I'm running the SHA-256 Multipool, and whenever it switches over to ZET or TRC I mine and payouts work just fine, but when it switches over to BTC I register a hash rate but I've apparently earned nothing, and I mean like balance is all zeroes even to the billionth of a bitcoin nothing.

EDIT: Also I never get a 1 minute hashrate for my SHA-256 mine (when its on BTC) but I get a 10 minute hashrate.
When I switched my difficulty for sha-256 to 512 I began to get 1 minute hash rates.

Also, I made the mistake of running Bit Eruptors and BFL Singles in the same instance of cgminer. The Bit Eruptors are so small they need diff=1 but that is much too fast for a 60 GHps miner. I think that using the highest possible diff for your sha-256 miners would help the pool server cope better with all the new traffic.

At diff=512 for BFL Singles I get reject rates <1%. The MP web report also shows a higher hash rate than cgminer reports.

I think the reason people aren't seeing 1 min hashrates is because shares aren't coming in fast enough.  The pools have a minimum of 50 shares before they will commit to the DB, if that hasn't been reached in a minute then your 1 min hashrate will be 0.  This should take care of itself once we have more hash on the SHA-256 pools.
