thanks for those - i'd never heard of peter schiff. very interesting indeed. guy's got some courage to go against voices (snickers) of opposition

No problem Cheesy yeah I think I admire Peter Schiff the most because he was one of those people who was just telling the truth and got into tons of arguments with the neo-keynesians before the financial collapse even started and called them out. Ron Paul did the same even earlier though I'd need to dig around more to find some compilations of him saying that, he was doing it back when he still had hair Tongue

7463  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is Socialism? on: May 22, 2013, 04:15:27 PM
I would argue that communism hasn't either survived yet or existed for considerable time...

They have all ended up in totalitarian regime...

This is pretty much what has happened for ages now, the people who rant about socialism are sticking with that because people know now communism is either dead or has never existed in the first place, socialism is the new imaginary threat that the established parties like to use in their own country and terrorism is the one that they use to get people terrified of the outside world.
7464  Other / Off-topic / Re: I was offered $550 to say that "Ripple is a Scam." on: May 22, 2013, 03:38:35 PM
I think most people who know anything about software development or coding in general know that ripple isn't open source, I don't think it's a scam though, I just think their marketers are stupid, you see it happen all the time with computer stuff.
7465  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy consumption could become an issue if bitcoin really breaks through on: May 22, 2013, 03:26:21 PM
Synechococcus bacteria, solves the problem of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we found the answer to this problem years ago.

You're welcome Smiley

http://microbewiki.kenyon.edu/index.php/Synechococcus_elongatus

Quote
Synechococcus elongatus uses carbon dioxide (CO2) as its carbon source through the Calvin cycle. During photosynthesis, Synechococcus elongatus uses water (H2O) for the electron donor, which produces oxygen (O2) as the by-product. Carbon dioxide is then converted to glucose through the Calvin cycle and is used for biosynthesis or other energetic needs.
7466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: idea on: May 22, 2013, 01:34:55 PM
An exchange is used for exchanging different currencies, why people here keep trying to treat them as bank accounts is beyond me, sell your stuff and move it right away, either to Bitcoins or an account designed to have money stored in it, I personally think Bitcoins are the best option for storage because you can keep them offline.
7467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 71% of young men in America do not want to get married on: May 22, 2013, 04:25:32 AM
It's great if you find the girl of your dreams I'm sure, then there would be no problem no matter what way you chose to show how much you liked each other, the problem comes when you're unlucky and you get on the receiving end of a manipulative ho who's lied to you all that time about how she feels and that's when things get ugly.
7468  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 71% of young men in America do not want to get married on: May 22, 2013, 03:35:59 AM
I just tried writing up a post a couple of times and it's really difficult to do it intelligently without going into a full on "Girls just fucking piss me off mode". It's not just in America I bet, it's everywhere, men are waking up and realising the bullshit. All I'll say so I don't occupy this thread and cause a mass flame war is if you girls treat men like shit and walk all over them, expecting them to do everything for you, to provide for you and even to hit on you and develop psychic powers to find out what you want then you can't just take it out on us like we're the bad guys if we don't reach your every expectation.

I'm not surprised marriage has stopped at all, it's too much pressure on a relationship, which probably explains why the divorce rates are getting so high and you see so many married people breaking up/cheating on each other, at least in a normal relationship you can leave if things get too stressful.
7469  Other / Meta / Re: BTCTalk Free Expression - But Highlighted Stupidity on: May 21, 2013, 08:58:45 PM
Define 'stupid' are we going to be labelling people who blatantly make stuff up, re-write history or use poorly done statistics that only have about 1,000 people taking part? Personally I'd like certain people on this forum to be given the tag 'overeducated moron' with some of the stuff I've seen them say.
7470  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's to stop inflation of currency when you have multiple digital currencies? on: May 21, 2013, 03:54:22 PM
There will certainly be people who will make inflatable currencies and that most likely will affect the market somehow, but I think the main point of the whole crypto currency experiment is that now everyone has choices and there is market competition in currencies when before there was not. With this we'll be able to finally prove what the best economic theory will be, I think the main thing I'm happy about is seeing the current financial system thrown into chaos. If Bitcoin hadn't been open source for instance, then it would have been a completely pointless exercise, but that's because I take the view that we should have as many competing currencies as possible if we want to find out which type of economy works best.

We're in a very interesting time now where there's going to be lots of ways to experiment with economics without constant interference, enjoy it while it lasts Tongue

7472  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon coin / Bitcoin parody on: May 21, 2013, 09:38:29 AM
Microsoft points are fucking awful because from last I looked ( but this was quite awhile ago ) you had absolutely no choice but to buy these points in order to purchase games and so on, at least with Amazon coins for now they're only an option, these schemes by themselves aren't that big of a deal but when they're limited like crazy the only use they'll have is for what they've been specifically designed for. Take what are essentially game launchers for example steam, they're great ideas by themselves, they organise your game and update things for you automatically but when you put a shit ton of restrictions on them like DRM and force people to log on with an internet connection if you are to have a chance of using it then it becomes too restrictive and pointless to use.

There's nothing I hate more than being told what I can and can't do with my money and with my computer because some programmer is being a cock with their releases, the only way they could make these coins or points legitimate is if you could trade them back for your cash and re-use it but they're just using it to steal your money really.
7473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting an Adult/Porn 3D Virtual Reality company, need donations on: May 21, 2013, 09:02:27 AM
Dont know if this is being kept up

https://bitcoinstarter.com/

But if you are raising funds I would think you either need to get a VC to buy part of your "company" or give things per donation "Kickstarter"

Sounds like the best plan, it's either that or get a loan, the only downside is you have to work hard and honour your deal to pay it off so make sure you're realistic and start small.
7474  Other / Off-topic / Re: It's hot. on: May 21, 2013, 08:53:10 AM
I will admit, I have nearly crashed a few times in summer, I can't help but look, especially when they're jogging >_< Cheesy Yeah, girls won't know what I'm talking about LOL Tongue
7475  Other / Off-topic / Re: It's hot. on: May 20, 2013, 11:08:48 PM
I'd suck living where you guys are LOL Tongue I can barely stand it here in the UK when it's summer and it'd be cold for you lot.
7476  Other / Off-topic / Re: It's hot. on: May 20, 2013, 10:56:17 PM
Why can't summer just fuck off and die? I swear the only thing I find pleasant about it is getting distracted by the cute girls everything else is extremely unpleasant and causes me headaches or gives me hayfever, I'll be glad if global warming happens as people predict and causes a new ice age if it means an end to the damn summer.
7477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BBC TV LOOKING FOR CONTRIBUTORS on: May 20, 2013, 05:36:34 PM
The BBC are obsessive with appearing professional and politically correct, there's no way they'd sign up to Bitcointalk ( Too many anarchists are here with opinions about stuff ) and this guy left out 'would' in his sentence.

LOL Tongue I really suck at dealing with heat but I can happily sit through winter, it's only 14 or so degrees and I feel boiling.

I think physical bitcoins would probably be a good idea too, I plan on buying some at some point in the future.
