I'd throw a couple mhash at it, possibly...
But isn't this like the 3rd time you're releasing the same coin now?
Mining on the coin has yet to start. The source code was made available for public review early this week. A couple of miners had anticipation issues with pre-mature mining. Can't blame them, this coin has a lot of potential! You launched it June 1st, no? Then decided a few days later that was a test and reset everything...? June 1st was for public review of source code and to give folks time to kick the tires testing the code. A bunch of miners were able to successfully mine up to 10,000 test blocks. So we are pretty comfortable now with the stability of the code base. Original blockchain is not on testNet, it is in mainNet. If you would want a test network you should to have realeased just testnet blockgenesis. Now, your official block genesis of 1 Jun is replicated over hundreds of nodes ... You can not deleted hundreds of blockchains in several parts or world. It is virtually impossible, and illegal. Lol. Illegal.

Because someone cloned a beta version of something and called it the exact same name? That's douchebaggery.

That skyrocketing difficulty.

okay just to confirm 10 minutes for a windows binary?? That would be the right time if on time. Could google "Time UTC" and it will tell you in a box at the top.

Yes, shipped to those that ordered before July 3rd 2012. Almost year-old orders.
As of yesterday they said they've shipped out jalapeņos up to July 20, 2012. Picking up steam! Wow, almost 11 months behind. Hoo Hoo.

I got a refund quickly after I requested (a few hours). Good company, just BFL is being unreliable. I will deposit again once BFL delivers on a better schedule.

So, if I'm reading correctly: This is for the equivalent of 4.16 GH/s mining for 2 years per share?
|
|
|
Can you even get Jalepenos though?
Yes, there's a few in circulation. They're sending them out very slowly. If you were to order now, you probably wouldn't get it for a couple years.

Nobody ever reads the Readme.

Thanks for the response.
Yeah i've been leaning to GPUs mainly because as you say, if mining with them ceases to be valuabe, they can always be sold for a decent percentage of the purchase price.
Power is a consideration though. I am in australia and the power here is expensive. Do you think taking that into account, maybe the USBs are a better go?
Also, do you think there's value just in the fact that they are available now? ... I know that better ASICs are coming but by the time they are available, the difficulty will be way up there. Feels like its a good idea to smash as much now before it all goes crazy.
Cheers
Well, if you want to check, http://www.coinish.com/calc/Mess around with the Expert mode and put in your own electricity costs. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#ASICFor stats not on that calc to manually put in.

Depends on power costs in your area. The Block Erupter USB's are nice for not taking up much space or power, GPU's will easily get a higher hashrate, though. Also may have to take into account resale value. GPU's are fairly easy to resell as they have many purposes, whereas ASIC's only have one and may drop a bit more in price over time.
Short answer: If electricity isn't an issue, GPU's is my vote. Or a more a more efficient ASIC (efficient being hashes per dollar).

Imagine if you have an adult website and want to sell services, which alt coin do you choose beside BTC, LTC?
Why would you need to? Non-financial pandering doesn't do much. Why would you need LTC when already have BTC? Crysptocurrencies are just same as real life currencies out there, and people will choose what best coin is suitable for them. Because people don't like being paid in several decimals. The fees on 0.0075 BTC are sometimes more than the amount sent. Sexcoin doesn't fill any void, it pigeonholes a currency to one specific task when literally every other coin can do the same exact thing and has a use other than senseless pandering.
