4. I am considering adding a "conservative" multiport that will only switch between NVC, LTC, FTC, MNC and possibly CGB.  Would like to hear opinions on this.

I agree with murraypaul in that a small hashrate multiport might have more demand.  I see a lot more people asking to have LTC and NVC taken off multi than I do for them to get more time on it.  Time spent on LTC and NVC is usually time wasted for me as the payout is miniscule.

We've actually done really well on NVC and LTC lately.  NVC block time when the multiport is on is about the same as FTC.

SHA-256 Multiport is up and running.

I'm throwing my 3gigahash at the BTC pool at least till you get the multiport working. I saw you didn't exactly have a lot of hash rate on there testing it. Its not much, but its more than 50mhash, lol.

works for me!
764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: October 08, 2013, 10:48:36 PM
So just a brief update on some changes I've recently made/am working on for the site.

1. Redundant EU servers should be online sometime in the next couple days.  This should roughly double existing EU capacity.
2. I've added a dedicated EU coin daemon server for the non-PoS (12 out of 15) coins which has dramatically lowered stales for those coins.
3. Rather than add another server to the US pool, making it 4, I am going to split the US pool into East and West coast pools with 2 servers each.  pool1.us will load balance between all 4 pools, west.us will load balance between 2-3 San Francisco servers, and east.us will balance between 2 new NYC servers.
4. I am considering adding a "conservative" multiport that will only switch between NVC, LTC, FTC, MNC and possibly CGB.  Would like to hear opinions on this.
5. I've also added dedicated coin daemon servers for the US pools, also for the non-PoS coins.
6. The PoS coins require a bit of extra work to add to the dedicated pool daemon servers.
7. ANC and Craftcoin will be added shortly.
8. The header will be changed to only show the top 5 coins of each algorithm (SHA256 and Scrypt) and will be sorted by profitability.  A new default "My Stats" page will be added that has the full list of coins, balances, user hashrates, etc.
9. I'm still planning to add idle worker notifications, but it's low priority atm.
10. I've added a monitoring system (mentioned in a earlier reply) that notifies me by email automatically if any pool or webserver is having issues.  This really should have been done long ago, but I've finally gotten to it and it's definitely helped me resolve some issues more quickly in the past few days than I would have.
11. The SHA-256 multiport is almost complete, I would like to add at least 2 more coins for it.  I would like to add FRC but I'm wondering how the demurrage will work with coins left on the pool.  If anyone has experience with this please let me know.

And lastly, I'm leaning toward scrapping plans for BTC autoexchange at this point, due mainly to the reliability issues that Cryptsy has been experiencing lately.  Half of my auto-sell transactions wind up not selling, and after reading Middlecoin and Hashcows threads, I honestly just do not have the 2-3 hours a day that I'm thinking it would take to resolve all of the issues there would be.

I'm very excited to see the new SHA256 Pool, but I think that the auto-paymen minimmum threshold for Bitcoins should less than 1 BTC. Now I'm not able to set less than 1 BTC.
Also letting LTC and NVC minimmum auto-payments be less than 1 could be great too.

Thanks!

I will most likely set the minimum withdraw for BTC at 0.1 or maybe even lower.  It's moot until we find a block anyway Smiley

BTC pool is up on 3332.

I see that there is a bitcoin pool now and people are mining on it. Whats the server address?

Nobody's mining on it atm, there are some shares in the db from when I was testing last night, that's all.  The BTC pool and the sha-256 asic multiport will be launching soon.
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: October 07, 2013, 03:53:13 PM
First post here since bitcointalk is back?

Was multipool down until like just now?  Website was down, JSON feed not working and openly a few CPU miners of mine seem to still sustain as cpu miner never gives up.

Thanks

JR

I got an alert from the monitoring system at 5:22 am saying the website was down and it recovered at 6am.  Also had a couple of the cronjobs hang which I fixed about 20 minutes ago.  Looks like the DB ran out of connections.  The pools should not have been affected.
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: October 02, 2013, 09:34:52 AM
Most responsible pool operators that I've seen at least removed pool fees temporarily after screwing up. And these screw ups I speak of are minor compared to losing $2000+ USD of the pool's funds. You've lost my hash power.

Where are you getting $2000?

If Middlecoin had been on the updated chain, in 5 hours you would have found around 30 blocks which would be around 5 BTC worth.

The bad blocks found on the wrong chain were found at artificially low difficulty with almost no competing hashrate, so you can't really count that amount.
The pool's immature funds went from 21 BTC to 8 BTC after the blunder was discovered. 13 BTC so closer to 1650-1700 USD, still doesn't make me any happier.

Right, but those weren't "real" funds, they were based on a bunch of FTC blocks that were found at artificially low difficulty with little competing hashrate on the network.

As I said earlier, if middlecoin had been mining on the right chain the amount would have been closer to 5 BTC.  You didn't 'lose' the 13 BTC because it was never really there.  It was just a number in the database.

EU Pool Maintenance will begin at approximately 7:00 GMT.  The EU pools will be down for approximately 20 minutes.
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: October 01, 2013, 10:31:46 PM
The EU server does seem to be having problems.  Sometimes it won't connect, other times it only works for a while and then drops out until I reconnect it or give up and use the US server instead.  On other occasions it works just fine for hours.  I can connect to both servers but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do that or not.  When it's working I get a lot less stale shares on the EU server because its ping is much lower as its on the same side of the planet as me

The EU LTC pool has had some issues today, things should be more stable now.

I'm going to be taking the EU pools down tonight to add another couple servers into the mix.  I will post here and on the pool news when the downtime is about to happen.
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switch][1.5%fee] multipool.us:Always mine the most profitable coin on: October 01, 2013, 06:10:57 PM
flound1129,

When you post here that there is a problem with a coin and you are working on it, could you also add an update to the 'news' on your website home page?

I look there first before I come to this thread and start reading backwards through the posts, trying to figure out if there is an issue and you are aware of it.

Thank you!

Also, I do think something gets skewed with DGC profitability when there are multiple blocks per minute.  I certainly do not think it is a situation of  you taking advantage of the pool.  I see I am earning a fair share of each block and when I look at how many blocks the pool is getting I think the reality of earnings is less than expected compared to 'profitability' calculated from hash rate and difficulty.  Rather than come here to accuse you of something when DGC is getting the resources of the multi-port I prefer to switch my miners to a direct port on an alternate coin.

tl,dr; When the difficulty of DGC is really low it is a disappointment to mine via the multi-port and I try to avoid it when I can.

Finally thanks for putting your time into running the pool and dealing with all the BS associated in this endeavor!

I will try to keep the site news more up to date.

As far as DGC, there was an issue with one of the pools the time zepadee posted which was causing us to not submit blocks properly for about 1/3-1/4 of the hashrate.

If you look at the last time we mined DGC, it was much better, you can see the very smooth hashrate distribution under My Stats which was much better looking than the previous one (which has scrolled off by now, unfortunately)..  The difficulty changed at block 463320, Multipool found 386 valid blocks and 19 orphans between 463320 and 464400 when the difficulty went back up.

So we found almost 36% of the total valid blocks during that low difficulty period which is very reasonable when you consider that we were at around 750 MH, Middlecoin was probably around 900-1000, and the rest of the network was probably at least 500-600.  In fact we probably found more blocks than we should have. The network hashrate graph shows a peak at 3.83 GH/sec but I don't know how accurate that is.

386*20 = 7720 DGC, in about 85 minutes

7720 * .00013 BTC/DGC (current price) = 1.0036 BTC

1.0036BTC / 750 MH/sec / 85 minutes = 1.574e-5 BTC/(MH/sec)/minute, * 1440 minutes/day = 0.02267 BTC/(MH/sec)/day for that time mining DGC.  That is 130% of litecoin or 670% of BTC profitability (assuming LTC was around 500% of BTC at the time)

So I think we're doing OK with DGC.  We don't get the calculated 1200% returns or whatever, but it's still worthwhile to mine DGC, assuming the pool is working properly.
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin - The Miner Update - Hard Fork Block 87948 on: October 01, 2013, 05:36:44 PM
Are you sure?
Yep. I think that immediate check pointing policy is evil.

Agreed. That is why the block depth is set to 3 when ACP went live rather than 0 based on feedback from technical users in the crowd. This allows some natural reorgs.

After updating.  They were the first two blocks found after we updated.

Can you get me the times and block numbers?

I would like to find out why this did not work.

776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin - The Miner Update - Hard Fork Block 87948 on: October 01, 2013, 08:56:55 AM
So I basically got 2 orphans in a row is what you're saying?

You said those blocks got orphaned after updating but were those blocks minted before you updated or after?

Blocks found on the old chain will get orphaned by the new fork. If anyone wants to continue using 0.6.4.3 they would need to set ACP to advisory.

After updating.  They were the first two blocks found after we updated.
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin - The Miner Update - Hard Fork Block 87948 on: October 01, 2013, 08:13:28 AM
You can't fix this. This message means that another block is already accepted by network and successfully checkpointed. It seems that blockchain is too fast for the current checkpoints implementation/settings. You can switch it into advisory mode to prevent such events in the future.

But it's better to change checkpoints interval setting to 6-12 blocks.

So I basically got 2 orphans in a row is what you're saying?

Looks like middlecoin missed the FTC fork and lost a bunch of blocks too.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259649.msg3274282#msg3274282

That's tricky, the announcement of the FTC fork was a sticky on this forum, and Bushstar told most of the exchange operators, and put it in a lot of chat boxes a week ago, I saw him do it.

The fork was a difficulty formula change to stop the wild 41% swings that were happening each diff change. It's much smaller changes now, only 9% but more frequent.

He also said it would take effect around October 1st..  It happened 2 days before that.

Anyway, I'm much more concerned with the fact that the new version is rejecting our blocks.

I'm not sure man, what version of cgminer are you using, can you post your config and screenshot?
