761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin on: November 03, 2013, 05:37:20 PM
You need some heavy advertisement and/or marketing this two months: a coindesk report, reddit/twitter/facebook colorful presents, some videos..
You may decide to pay people some satoshi to spread the words, or their corresponded nxt coins (this you said not possible before launch)
Anyway without good media/press coverage and +1000 users pre-launch, you ll be left with a well featured crypto yet obsolete coin because of the lack of enough adoption and/or marketplace. You should start..

Agreed, coindesk may well be interested given all the Nxt features.
762  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might rise $1000 unexpectedly soon on: November 03, 2013, 02:27:35 PM
My guess is we will reach $1k in 2016 when the block reward halves.  Then onto $10k.
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: November 03, 2013, 02:26:31 PM
I've just had some of my first DVC arrive Smiley  What does it mean when it says in the client "matures in x number of blocks"?

Newly created (mined) coins require maturing before they can be used. Maturing is 120 confirmations, or blocks.

Ok thanks.

This is more massively bullish news, should be a fun period to come.  Wink

I quite like NXT too and have no better suggestions, but curious to see what others suggest.
767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Trades 58k btc rest of the World 34k on: October 30, 2013, 09:28:32 PM

i think the btc china rise is a pump from the chinese manufacturers of asic that want to sell their btc high!

Interesting theory, anyone have any thoughts on this?
768  Economy / Securities / Re: [CRYPTOAVE.com] New BTC/DGC exchange IPO on: October 25, 2013, 11:07:41 AM
I bought 100 of the cryptoave shares in the auction for about 20K DGC which was about 3BTC at the time.  Seeing as that was prelaunch without me being able to check out the functionality of the site I'd say it was very high risk investment, but potentially very high reward.  It looks from the screenshots that cryptoave will be an 'attractive' looking exchange, and I hope one with good functionality.  It has USD deposits allowed too, which should give it an advantage over Mcxnow (which I am a fan of and use currently).  I'm looking forward to the beta testing and launch.  Smiley
769  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hardly any 'bubble' talk this time on: October 22, 2013, 09:05:08 PM
It is a bubble but its being led by the chinese and its only just beginning.
I'd like to think so. I'm still all in. But what makes you say "it's only just beginning"? Chinese market is much harder to read.

Well, it would be odd if this bubble was smaller than the last seeing as there are far more people involved in bitcoin this time and its closer to 'going mainstream' than before, it just seems obvious that the next bubble, if thats what this is, will be much bigger than the last, and seeing as we are still $60 or so below the last ATH I'd say its just beginning.  And I'd say its a bubble because of the parabolic rise, and due to the rise being triggered by news (small Baidu division) that will barely effect the 'underlying bitcoin economy' at all.  Also now that gox has been upgraded and shouldn't crash and we have a stronger set of btc/fiat exchanges, and good news on the way such as buttercoin, I'd say we are just getting started.  Expecting $300 by the end of next week, after that, who knows, but I'm watching BTCchina. I expect they will take us up to 2000cny which is $320, that could be top or maybe they'll take it way higher?  Who knows.
"far more people" -- Numbers? We are six months later, only. How is it closer to going mainstream? How much closer? Why is it obvious that this bubble will be "much bigger than the last"? I'm not convinced that a) the April run-up is an entirely separate event from this run-up, and b) that this rally necessarily must be n times the all-time high. Especially the latter point.

Ok, a few reasons, China wasn't a big player in the previous bubble, but now its booming:

Btcchina is not the only exchange in china (from reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ozilp/two_things_you_should_know_about_the_volume_of/
)

"in fact here are some examples for today:

*btcchina 56,272.00 *huobi 12,916 *btctrade 11,852.32 *okcoin 11,367.01 *btc100 5,929.73 *fxbtc 2,642.48
Some of the sites may be manipulating numbers, but they are roughly OK.
However, they are all doing free trading right now, because of the fierce competition. That should be part of the reason why the volume is so high."

Other massive bullish news:

Bitcoin meets Google Glass with in-store payment app GlassPay
http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-meets-google-glass-store-payment-app-glasspay/

Also bitcoin has gained a lot of legitimacy since the last bubble, and silk road going down may allow previously unsure investors to invest: http://www.newstatesman.com/business/2013/10/bitcoin-may-be-let-loose-now-silk-road-has-been-shut-down

This and with buttercoin on the way, and loads of positive news streaming in such as Bitcoin being added to the Dutch dictionary, give the whole thing much more power to go up in price!

770  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: $190 or $210 in the next 24h? on: October 22, 2013, 08:47:33 PM
I think when I wake in the morning the Chinese will have had another berserker moment and it will be up another $10, it's been a made few days and the price has pretty much recovered after the big sell out earlier.

I expect this too.  Maybe more than $10.

773  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTCChina hit 220$ Today. on: October 22, 2013, 07:22:05 PM
btcchina hitting an even higher price than gox means that the Chinese are leading this bubble, they are the ones buying up the coins and gox and bitstamp and following the Chinese price.  You'll notice the Chinese market is much more volatile, there was a $40 dump last night on btcchina that only translated into a $10 drop on bitstamp and mtgox.  It's a Chinese bubble, and they have a gambling spirit Smiley  $300 is on the way soon I expect.
774  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin hit $300? on: October 22, 2013, 09:14:10 AM
This week or next week.
775  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price on the last day of 2014: Make your prediction on: October 21, 2013, 08:37:27 PM
$900
776  Economy / Speculation / Re: Call the top on: October 21, 2013, 04:33:02 PM
$388, then a fall back to $200, then up to $250 where we will stay until buttercoin, then back up again.
777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin on: October 21, 2013, 11:56:16 AM
I had a small talk with the guy who is launching the stock exchange for Nxt.  He was curious when the colored coins feature would be ready.  Colored coins remove necessity in a third-party service because securities represented by colored coins can be traded for ordinary NXT in an atomic transaction.  This is a superior feature (no trust to anyone required, no fees charged by third-party services) which could make the stock exchange unpopular.  I expect to have colored coins implemented upon the Nxt launch.  A decentralized stock exchange has a big disadvantage though, all transactions require 1 minute to confirm (in average), no high-frequency trading.  I want you all to answer the question:  Do we need a centralized exchange?

We need a centre where we can view the all of the investment opportunities that people are setting up using the colored coins.  Somewhere to make it easy for investors to browse the shares available (colored coins, basically being 'shares' in anything), and somewhere for businesses/individuals/artists i.e. colored coin issuers to list their project so that they have a page to promote to make it easier to attract investment.

BIG PROBLEM is the laws about equity crowdfunding.  Colored coins are the most awesome way to do equity crowdfunding imho except that equity crowdfunding is unfortunately still illegal in almost every country to due laws relating to private securities (law lags behind technology).  Indigogo (a crowdfunding site) is waiting for the law to change before implementing equity crowdfunding (where project backers receive a share of the profits).  The law in the US is set to change in 2014, but it has already been delayed from 2013.

The only options I see are:

-  Proceeding anyway.  This would mean any investment in colored coins based shares would be illegal.  A centralized exchange is therefore under very high risk of being shut down.  A de-centralized colored coin exchange may well be able to avoid the arm of the law but would be much less popular I'd imagine due to both the illegitimacy increasing risk, and lack of web-based exchanges making it easy to view + promote colored coin projects.  But I could be wrong, maybe people would still invest?
- Waiting for the law the change before implementing the colored coins feature.

Due to this problem maybe the other special features should be developed first, then by the time they are complete maybe equity crowdfunding will be legal?
778  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin hit $200? on: October 20, 2013, 07:08:36 PM
We are going to assault $200 again this week, we may break through this week or maybe it will fall back and we'll breath through next week instead.  I think it will probably happen this week though.  We might 'kiss' $200  this week and fall back again though, only then break through it again properly a few days or so again later.  Then we'll charge up to $250.

780  Economy / Speculation / Re: $20-ish correction soon, then climb continues on: October 19, 2013, 09:12:00 PM
Looks like the OP was right, so how high will we climb? $300 by Christmas doesn't seem extravagant.
