Just pointing out the obvious here... but "Free distributions" are, well... Poor for value, and poor for marketing.

1: Free coins can be cashed-out at any price, for 100% gains. Cost them nothing to obtain the coins, so they have no "minimum" that they have to sell for. The more you give away, the less "value" others have to claim. You are giving-away others value, not adding to it.

2: The only people looking for "free coins", are those who are already in it. Occasionally, a non-user/holder will get some, and both will have no problem cashing-out for a quick penny that you gave them. (All those pennies add-up to our dollars that we can't get now, because they took them. Unless we buy them for pennies, which, again, does not add any "value" to the coin. That devalues it.)

But I digress... The "Free coins" are the least of the problems. No-one is "not-investing" in this because of the lack of free coin give-aways. It is because of the give-aways, that people stop investing in coins. You are having your value given away to others. Value you have to later buy-back, before you can get your value to go up. It is counter-productive to the point.

The 1:2 exchange and mining POW needs to be addressed before any talk about give-aways. (Which by the way, the give-away was obviously not ever intended to be honored. It was a trick to gather your personal information. If not by the dev, then by the person who ran the old website, or had access to the old website.)

Very disappointed by the responses of a few, including Jarvis, so far.

... ... ...

Haven't you learned anything of so many coins you invested your mining time on, only to see them turn to complete failures or scams?

I am afraid I cannot support this effort in its current from.

While you are partly right about "demand" being a factor in value... It is not the only factor. There is little demand for any of these coins, at all, as a whole. The only demand is "I want some now, cheap, to sell later, for a greater return." No one is running-out to get BTC, to use it for anything-else other than that. (Same with any of these coins, or FIAT.)

The other thing that raises value is "loss and debt". That is what makes people "demand" more. This is not food we need to live, it is a luxury we are investing in, with a hope of a greater return, in some form or another. You work for FIAT to get food, and also to pay debts on electricity, water, rent, cars, internet... Etc... Some also rush out to get FIAT to buy gold and give loans for gains, etc...

Your argument is for (Insert anything that represents value here), not for this coin.

However, you are right that creating twice as much will not increase value. That is what FIAT does, and that reduces value. However, the mining will add some value (via loss of electric-bills and hardware-time.), to a "FEW". That was my complaint. 7 days, again, caters to a few, not the "community", and not any "prior investors".

You are right that having few with a lot of coins, will never be as valuable as many having a few coins. Simply because it is harder to get a million dollars from a millionaire, than it is to get a million individual dollars from one million individuals.

But give us/them a few days to get the basics down, before you shoot us all out of the sky. The coin does not even have a week on the exchange yet, and it has only been a day since we (the community), have effectively taken the coin over. However, I don't remember getting a vote in for the proposed changes. They did use the suggestion to open POW, to help offset the old devs holdings. Just not in a reasonable method.

Doubling coins is as effective as moving a decimal place, except this move is in the wrong direction. The coin could only go to 1 sat before, now, effectively it can go down to 0.5 sat, since we will have twice as much, with half as much value each. Moving it the other way, would have made it more valuable, more scarce, and reduced the effective lowest sat to 2 sat, of the original coins "value", for a minimum.

EDIT: Previous versions, for comparison...

Ok, last version... (I can make this 3D in sketchup, but it would need to be rendered-out in MAX or BLENDER or something.)

I was playing with the X and the C on the left and right, respectively... But remaining small, over the blue-bars. (Had a drop-shadow to make them stand-out on the bars only. Looked OK... But I am sure someone-else can do it better.)

Looks pretty sweet to me, maybe make a version without the trapezoid surrounded the XHC?

Didn't upload it, because I didn't like the feel of it. Thought the non-round shape would make it jump-out among all the stereotypical coin-shaped logo's which just buries coins in a giant list.

Make one round and one without the trapezoid frame, and submit it. It's a community effort... build off of it. xD

I don't want any bounty, so throw it to the person who makes this look better. Smiley Or another one.

Here is what a little glitter and glow would look like on the logo. (More pixel-art.) xD

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Project Restoring Honor | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 11, 2014, 04:40:15 PM
Yes, We are running a logo competition currently and have been receiving various designs. The logo we have used is an open-sourrce logo supplied by a design firm. Anyone can use it as it is free and open sourced. The logo doesn't make the coin... the innovative contributions do.
Thank you.

Here is my submission. Run with it. It is just the "basic concept", no glitter or glow. (Yes that is pixel-art.)

Round coins are soo yesterday... Stand-out, in the crowd, with honor.

Here is a micro version.. Could be smaller if it was just the XHC without the border.

Don't forget to drop-in and speak your mind in the IRC-Chat.

I would like to request a longer mining time...

7 days is rather short.

Keep in mind too, that having double the coins will equal half the BTC value, and a new chart will be needed. Since this old chart is based off value of a coin of twice the value. (It will make the coin look worse, since it has to reach twice the value to be equal to any of the previous values. Not to mention the additional 6-million that will be added to the cap.)

You want a good 2 weeks to give everyone a heads-up, and make any formal announcements. (Other than this forum.)

Will the mining start after block-x or right on the day the new wallet releases? May take some people some time to get the wallets up and running, and configured for mining, including pools, if they may participate. (I assume it will use a whole new wallet.)

Don't forget to code the old wallet so it needs a forced update, and so that it stops functioning unless they update, so people HAVE to visit to get the upgrade, and see the news. (Not all users live in the forums.)
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Project Restoring Honor | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 10, 2014, 02:30:14 AM
I think people should contact the adminstrator of BCT to close the old thread in case of someone pump it and cause terror.

I did send a message but they wont take it down.

You can have them lock it, and it will disappear into the archives. The last post being a post here. There is plenty of proof to back-up the abandonment of the thread by the dev. Including his own removal of the source-code and twitter. But remember, BCT seems to like when alt-coins suffer like this, they are BTC fans, not alt-coin fans. (Ironic that without alt-coins, BTC would not be where it is today. Which was also the purpose of BTC in the first place, to be cloned and made better.)
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Project Restoring Honor | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 10, 2014, 02:25:14 AM
In case of mining re-initiated again or the 100% relaunch, is there is any chance any of the XHC owners will lose their coins, or is it a safe thing?

No-one would lose any coins. Except the original dev.

There are many ways to do this, and I am 100% sure that the entire community will accept the solution. (The dev is no longer part of the community, he walked away.)

The history of every transaction is in the block-chain. In a 1:1 transfer, where you switch chains... It is a little complex, but you essentially freeze the old chain, build a new one, and make automated "deposit only" on the old chain. Coins deposited to automated addresses, get delivered to any NEW address you pick, on the NEW chain, from the premine that matches the old volume of total coins. (Minus the ones that the dev was in possession of.)

In the end, the old chain is retired, and only the new chain exists. It is kept alive for future transfers only, within reason. However it would no-longer function as a normal chain. Any transactions after a certain date, would NOT get transferred.

This coin is luckily young, and this is not as big of a deal to do, as it would be with a coin like BTC, which would be waaay more complex.

Easier way to do this, is auto-convert coins added to the exchange. (Using them as a form of "Escrow".)

People are panic selling again.Something must be done soon.

Buy. That is what you do. Problem solved. Feel free to do it yourself. However, I really suggest that no-one try to pump this coin at the moment. Give the original dev time to contact us, to hand-over any remaining coins

I do wish to suggest that the mining be re-initiated, to expand the total cap, and reduce any possibility of the original dev having any real value.

Something like a nice 4-year plan to, at least, double the cap. However, 4x would be better. Just a thought, don't chew my head off. Since the old dev is not here, no sense giving him the upper-hand on the coin.

Invalidation of his blocks can only do so much. However, they can be perma-blocked from further spending, without completely invalidating the rewards.

My other suggestion is relaunch it 100%. 1:1 matched coins. Minus the remaining coins from the blocks in possession of the dev. That can be automated fairly easily.

P.S. Dev, if you with to contact a neutral source, Just PM any of the new devs, or myself. I will maintain your anonymity, for the sake of getting what needs to be done, done right. Hand-over the coins, and keep walking. That, or become a silent partner until the FUD gets cleared. It's not like we can't find you. The forum knows your IP, and I am sure one of your friends that got burned would turn your ass over for a nice 2 BTC bounty.

i vote takeover...

You don't have to VOTE, it is taken-over... No-one owns coins. You just start developing it.

This is the fastest take-over in the history of bitcoins. xD

Only took us like half an hour.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Anonymity Airdrop | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 09, 2014, 07:54:20 PM
Wtf man! I am not Loljosh! Go wash your dirty mouth. You can open a topic and ask what member ever had a problem with me. There is no one!

I understand you are angry. So am I as I was mining this coin too.

Good, some senior members... I was getting tired of all the >30 post members chiming in with new accounts. xD

Don't let him get to you. He made an assumption, in the confusion, and he will get over it. Water under the bridge...

Source is being looked at, and will soon be available for playing with again. Block-chain code is being made available, to get more explorers up and running. Now we just need a new website, which does not ask for personal info, to get everything all organized...

Then we can have the mods destroy this thread, and make a new one. Same on the other forum.

We can deal with twitter and other media information later.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Anonymity Airdrop | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 09, 2014, 07:10:41 PM
How about someone repost the coin source, since I know someone had to have it, to create the wallet.

That is the first step that needs to be done. (That or hope the way-back machine captured it.)

Once that is back-up, and checked, we can move forward with taking the coin over, completely.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Anonymity Airdrop | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 09, 2014, 07:08:24 PM
LOL.  This Libertarian is more likely to empty the jails.

I wouldn't go that far... There are some well deserved people in jail. Not that all people in jail are criminals, but many of them still deserve it. xD Jail solves only a few problems, but not more than it creates for society. (Jail, not prison)
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Anonymity Airdrop | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 09, 2014, 07:01:22 PM
No offense man, it just seemed like an odd coincidence.  for the record, I've never owned an honorcoin and was just trying to help those who got scammed.

No offence taken... Wish I had made HonorCoin... We surely would not have had this tiny issue.

Just don't sign-up to be a detective. xD You will end-up with jails full of innocent people.

I am sure I will be restoring this coin soon too. Just add it to my list of duties.

However, that one person needs a virus scanner, and needs to check his/her computer for a keylogger. That, and stop using the same password for every login on the web. Especially ones tied to money. If that is even real. (I think they dumped and got "super", and is just using that as an excuse. The exchanges will know who logged-in by the IP. Made two bad choices, now regrets it.)
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HONORCOIN][XHC] PoS | Anonymity Airdrop | Poloniex & Bittrex on: June 09, 2014, 06:48:09 PM
dev may be on poloniex, saw this in troll box a few minutes ago -

ChaoticOrder: LOL, like 7 BTC was cashed-out and everyone freaks... what a bunch of noobs

name has a familiar ring to tweets...

I can assure you that I am not the dev of HonorCoin. (I am ChaoticOrder, AKA: ISAWHIM)

That still doesn't change what I said. It was only 7 BTC, a fraction of what was staked, a micro-fraction of the coins. Seems the dev got scammed himself, and thrown under the bus. If he truly is any form of honorable, he will be back, and be a man about it, instead of the coward he was just sculpted into, and he accepted as a fate.

Seriously, you guys are so ADD, it isn't even funny. More than me. Get some Piracetam and stay on a coin longer than 24 hours. You are your own enemy, not us.

For the record, MY twitter, which I rarely use, except for entertainment... is here.
https://twitter.com/ISAWHIM

I don't hide from shit.

P.S. Not selling my coins any time soon. I know where this is going, as well as 99% of those not stupidly selling now. (Buying more to make more, by lowering my overhead though. xD Feed me!)

Yeah I used to use photoshop for that , but then I got a lighter program for just resizing. You might even be able to do it with an office program. It was just a bitch waiting for photoshop to load up every time.

Plus I tend to do my photo correction adobe lightroom anymore.

98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][0.8.6] Hirocoin - X11 - NGW - Secured Blockchain - Time Warp Limitation on: June 05, 2014, 07:53:43 PM
How does a coin protect itself from multipools then?

The only protection from multipools is a coin that does NOT decay exponentially in "reward", as more miners jump onto it. It does need to decay, but not exponentially with the exponential miners that it attracts.

The only other way around that, is to BUY what they DUMP. Since they are mining at a loss, it is a gain for you to buy them, as opposed to mining them. Multipools still have that illusion that they are "gaining", when the reality is, they are creating their own losses that they actually have. Takes people a while to realize they are losing in a multipool, except the few lazy ones who are just too stupid to realize they are being used.

P.S. No "dev" owns a coin. They may be the only ones releasing versions, but if it has no followers, and another dev releases a new version that has more followers, guess which dev-team will die-off. The one that stopped listening to the ones holding the coin, who are the "owners of the coin".

It doesn't matter who develops it. It only matters who uses it. Since devs are not the primary users, (if they are, then it is the devs coin), it is not the devs coin.

You think the devs will be around in 100 years, or 50... No, just like bitcoin and litecoin has had many many many devs. No-one owns bitcoin or litecoin.

That being said... You want this coin to go up in value, just buy some. Every coin you buy, lower than your highest coin, lowers your average that you paid. Eventually, at some point, you will have an average low enough to sell for a more reasonable price. Especially now that bitcoins is on a hike to $6000+ You get exponential rewards, if you do it right. There is no reason why Hiro can't be equally as valuable as DRK. (Not the same coin-value, as the rewards and coin-volumes are not the same.)

P.P.S. You don't buy coins at the top, to sell at the bottom... You buy coins in BULK at the bottom, to sell in BULK at the top. (Take a guess where Hiro is now, top or bottom? Hint: it's not at the top!)
99  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: June 01, 2014, 09:23:50 PM
We've already stated the legal implications we run into every time we write anything on this forum. We mentioned that we'd keep it to a technical discussion only to try and resolve the problems with the existing boards. There was an issue as to "if we can provide clients with source files.. bla bla bla" which we've just about taken care of. We've started production of new a1 miners based on our licensed technobit boards with local and foreign manufacturers, and our own boards as well, and production for script miners and other solutions. Everyone will be attended to and everyone will have rectification for these delays which we HAVE taken responsibility for on several occasions.

Guys calm down, stop ranting, we've been moving the office to other side of the city over the last few days as we said before. We know you want instant gratification to this problem but it takes time because of the legal actions that have occurred. Things we can and can't do, etc.

For what it is worth, I can confirm this statement.

Just checking-in, to let you know I am still alive and assisting some with solutions. Where I can.

I have been sent the legal-paperwork, needed to continue assisting. Now I just need some time to work-out more solid solutions on my end.

Getting more money soon, so for those who need it, I can start making the custom cases and air-flow mods soon. That wouldn't be possible if AMT had not done what they have done. They are doing all they can, to rectify this, from my perspective. (I may just have a better view of the situation, but it gets better-looking each day. Unfortunately, there is no-more I can say beyond that.)
100  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 23, 2014, 11:44:26 PM
Well sumptin' sure is lying.
My pool reported rates generally are pretty close/exceed what the Ants locally report So I have to assume that clean work is being done no?

Yea, pools "calculate" your rewards... not all calculate fairly... (Some don't count work after a new block has been found, though you were honestly still working on the block it last told you to work on. Some do.)

That, and they calculate the "credit/shares" based off what you return. If you return only a few 256 diffs, and you are hashing at 256, you are 100%. If you submit a few lucky finds of 2048 and 4096 diffs, (though you are only hashing at 256-level), you seem to be doing 4x to 8x faster work... but that is usually neutralized by your submission of a few 256 diff shares, later.)

Also, depending on your credit, per shift... you may submit valid work after a shift is complete, which goes into the next shift. Thus, your last shift will be short, and your next closed shift will be higher. (The average there works-out in time too.)

I was recently on a server that gave me credit only for blocks in which I actually submitted a share to. (That was in improperly setup pool.) It rewarded some goof with super-low share-submits, the majority of the reward for those blocks, while the finder, who obviously submitted a much higher reward diff, got 1 share. Thus, creating a lotto for that one guy who did not find the block, but sneakily submitted thousands of small shares, while some workers honestly working, did not even get one share into that shift, because it ended so fast, and thus, do not get that reward, that they earned. (In time, that does not work-out, because bigger machines are forced to submit harder diffs, thus getting less shares, and missing blocks/shifts, on some fast coins. This is not much of an issue with BTC, due to the nature of the long-ass block-times.)

So, yea... just had to mention that.

I assume your ants are graciously reporting "safe" estimates... but actually submitting an average higher. That happens when you use real estimates. Some are higher, some are lower. Luck in coins, comes in waves. It is only pseudo-random, not true random hashing. Though others will argue with me, the history of any pools "luck" and "found blocks" indicates clear patterns of waves, almost predictable enough that I can predict who will find the next block in the pool, but not when they will find it, or on what block they will find it on. As well as tell you how-many they will hit in a row. xD Usually goes... 0, 0, 1, 0, 2, 0, 0, 3, 0, 4, 5, 0, 0, 6, 0, 0, 5, 4, 0, 3, 0, 0, 2, 0, 1, 0, 0... or 0, 1, 0, 0, 2, 3, 0, 4, 0, 0, 5, 6, 0, 6, 5, 0, 0, 4, 0, 3, 2, 0, 0, 1, 0... (For the bigger boys in a pool. For smaller boys, they have that same pattern, but wider, in the 0's.) This changes with each diff-change, but remains a similar pattern, just with more 0's and less "multi-hit" blocks. It is a lot easier to see on lower-diff coins, or coins where the miners are larger, by identity.

They are waves in waves in waves... Like sound, how the output is the accumulation of all frequencies, on one wave. But, it is all waves. That is the predictable part. Once you determine the length of each isolated wave in the accumulation. Helps if you know the hidden prime-number used for the base in the calculation too. There is always a prime number in the formula, not always a blunt number, but the formula itself is a prime result or leads to one. Welcome to my world, the matrix, xD.
