83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's add up the KNOWN lost bitcoins on: May 06, 2018, 08:45:22 PM
Would it not be possible to take a sum of stale coins - for example all those not moved since end 2010 and then over time learn what fraction of those came alive later. Doing that over a period might suggest what is lost and what fraction is normally forced back into the open after such a long time.

yes, it's possible, even rather simple, to see what cans haven't been moved since a given time, or ever. the challenge is in determining WHY they haven't moved. it's entirely possible the original miner has them and still has ready access to the private keys, meaning they aren't remotely lost.

ok, perhaps. but it's been accepted as normal, allowed, and legal for... what, something like 100 years now? what, precisely, do you expect to be done about it? to remove the fed's power is nigh impossible. it would likely require literal war and revolution to bring down the government as we know it and build something new, or at least closer to the original constitution if that's the goal.

i say the same thing to any theory - like faked moon landings or flat earth or less insane ones like this Fed thing. ok, so maybe you're right. what's your point? what do you want to be DONE about it, and what will that change? are you going to do it? do you think you can actually effect change at all?
Many folks, myself included, are fascinated by bitcoin because a belief that it can take down the Fed and the other central banks.  The concept of bitcoin is very powerful.

Maybe 10,000 us$ by the end of the weekend?

...well, ok, yea. that's... very true. i... er... right, shutting up.

am a bit drunk to respond fairly to this convo, but you both have valid points and shouldn't back off. Bitcoin itself will do a lot of the heavy lifting in ending the Fed and creating an honest society. But it also us - what are we doing to those ends? holding, running nodes, mining, building infrastructure? keeping the USG out (cf scams like eth/bcash/intel/google)?

personally, all i can do is run a node at the moment. which, come to think of it, might not even be a full node - i think i need to open a port of the router or such... but i enjoy mining and hodling. just no money to get decent gear, and my 100 gh's isn't exactly worth running these days. i used to dream about having a big farm, but i've had a rather rough decade, financially, so it hasn't happened. might finally have a decent job though, so who knows.
sure man i read about some of your heyday early group buy, but you can still educate people after the day job and you can maybe put some $ aside into btc each month. you need a bit of money for a full node for the uphill b/w, but hey we all do what we can do

yep... once i actually can, you know, cover my bills, btc savings for sure.

Was hacked and bitcoins were stolen from GDAX account.

So the loss is almost around four plus coins.

in this case, YOU lost coins, but the coins are not lost to the person who stole them. this thread is about unretrievable, gone forever coins.

Where are all the GENTS/SIR’S/BOSSES off the merit sources to help out the little man, in This context like me

One simple rule. Make me laugh, get a merit. It's automatic.

How do we know that you are the real arkian?  The latest posts from you (before your posting hiatus) were related to your getting some of your accounts hacked into, so what happened to all of that?  Did your BTC talk account get hacked into, too, and then you are not the real deal?  Did you lose any BTC during the hacking attempts?  what was your reason for your hiatus?  was it because of the hackings or something else?

first, arklan. L. Cheesy

the hacking didn't access my account here. yes, i lost some BTC, .001 mined at slush pool, which they had changed the payout address. other then that, they tried something with my phone, but i reverted that before any damage. a guy was private messaging me about a similar hack attempt happening to him at the same time, (back around thanksgiving i think this was, when the hack actually occured.)  the hiatus... if you look at my posting history, it's not uncommon for me to poof for a few weeks or whatever. totally unrelated to any of the hacking. i get absorbed in other things, or busy at work, whatever. then don't check the forum for a couple days, then end up with a stack of notifications about replies to threads i'm watching, then put off checking it... and put it off, and off, and off...

also, if you really wanted, there should be a picture of me, real world, here somewhere. from when i ran the group buy of the first asic usb sticks from friedcat back in 2013 or whatever it was. i could, if someone felt it needed, take a recent pic of myself. a comparison of the two would be rather definitive.

but since i'm not attempting any business or asking for money or whatever, what's the point?

i don't even know what this merit stuff is, honestly. someone said "make me laugh" so i told the lamest joke i have memorized. Cheesy
