81  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving guide for noobs: Why it's not possible for halving to be priced in now on: April 08, 2016, 02:54:34 AM
R0ach what would you predict for bitcoin price just before the halving, 1 month after and 6 months after? This is a speculation sub-forum and I'd like to hear your opinion.

I won't pass any judgement if your actual $ amount predictions are wrong. But I will give you cred for them if they are correct  Grin I agree that the price will go up as well and the full price cannot be "factored in" before the actual supply/demand changes have affect.
82  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 17, 2016, 06:59:51 AM
It sure is nice, sitting here lending out my fiat at >%20 annual return. I don't have to worry about dumps, crashes, hard forks or network congestion failures.  I don't care if it goes up, either, because that just boosts the interest rate I get paid.

How much did you buy your account from the original owner for? I don't remember you being that emotional nor negative.
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is happening right now? Price movements explained. on: January 07, 2016, 12:19:36 PM
Good post and I agree with you. Daily updates on your view of world economics and their relation to bitcoin would be greatly appreciated. I will be watching this thread.

How will this miner ever break even? With no difficulty increases and near free electricity at $0.02/kWh (China subsidized rates) it would still take 122 days to break even, but we all know that difficultly will have skyrocketed by then.

http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=4700.00&p=1300.00&pc=0.02&pf=0.50&d=93448670796.32380000&r=25.00000000&er=431.06380000&hc=1250.00

I'm just trying to wrap my head around who could possibly have any benefit from these miners.

buyers are probably betting on btc price increase and they are spending $$ via instant bitcoin purchase on coinbase, then immediately spending on miners. This way, they essentially spent $$, but IF bitcoin appreciates and they will eventually sell mined bitcoin, they will make profit in $$.
It is obvious that they will not make their price in BTC, unless your electricity is free or almost free.

Even with free electricity it still won't break even.

If they are betting on Bitcoin price going up, they could just directly buy bitcoin and hold.

On the surface buying/holding btc may seem like the obvious way to invest in bitcoin but what would happen if the rest of us stop mining and let it further centralize???  I believe in civil disobedience so I will continue in the mining hardware arms race Smiley

Besides, buying and holding is no fun anyways

That is very admirable of you, thanks.

And where is the fun doing that, it is not always making $. For buy and hold, I have AAPL and FB.

Neither of which offer exposure to bitcoin, but okay.

lyth0s, though I applaud your initiative, I think there are better ways to help the Bitcoin community.

We have enough amateur level material out there. What we need are well produced materials like articles and videos.
Those cost money, there's no escaping that. Perhaps a crowdfunding campaign for a resource like you are proposing might help.

I'm just going for some of the basics. If you wanted to send a person you know to a website to actually learn how to buy and move bitcoins you probably wouldn't have a single good resource for them. That's what I'm aiming for.

People are stingy with their money and would not support crowdfunding something that will not provide them with an economic advantage, as unfortunate as that is.

I'm interested. I'm looking for some writing work, just a few questions -

Am I allowed to do multiple articles, for multiple payments? :3
Is there certain things I need to write about? Online wallets, the blockchain, mining?
Are you looking for us to provide some sort of tutorial, or just a sort of informative report?
How do I submit the article? Do I just simple PM it to you?
Do I need to format it? Using what? BBcode? HTML?

Please PM me. I'm sure we can work together.

Each useful and informative article receives its own payment. Tutorials are great. Word documents or text documents with a PM to the link is fine.

But if I can't use the article (poor spelling, grammar, copy-paste from somewhere else or not useful) then no payment.

I just bought a few more bitcoin. as it goes down I buy more

That's a great strategy. Only a few more years left in the accumulation phase of bitcoin wealth.
92  Economy / Speculation / Re: Oops Price is 425$ Now... on: December 27, 2015, 04:13:55 AM
The fact that people sell when there is some volatility, even if during an overall uptrend, just goes to show that there are still weak hands to rattle out there.

The bulls will have all of your coins before the next major run up. Good luck.
93  Economy / Goods / Re: Veterinary pharmacy AQUARIUM FISH ANTIBIOTIC on: December 26, 2015, 04:04:20 AM
I'm no legal council, but there may be some laws where you are allowed to import antibiotics for animals/pets in some countries without needing a prescription since they are not for humans. But that's just what I've heard....

This is not legal advice or any other type of advice. Just random internet bullshit.

I'd write one on how to create a simple web shop, using Wordpress and GoUrl, that accepts Bitcoin as a payment method.
It would be around 750 words or more, with screenshots. I'm not a native speaker, but you can review my post history to see if my English skills are sufficient.

Hoping the topic isn't too niche for your website though, but I'd love to write about something that's somewhat technical.

I'm estimating it would take me about 2 days to write, if I squeeze it in between some other projects.

Your English seems to be just fine in this post. I'd be more than happy to add your wordpress + gourl article to the site. I'm sure it would help a lot of future web developers and would be great for increasing the scope of our community.
Will get started on it tomorrow, had a pretty busy weekend Smiley
I'll get it proofread by a friend who happens to be a linguist (native speaker), pretty sure she'll do it for free.

Great I look forward to it!

I can help you out with this if this is still needed.
How many more articles do you need anyway?

I need lots of articles. Basically an article for every topic to introduce people to bitcoin tech and bitcoin economic theory.

My goal is to find 2-3 decent writers and just give them all of the work/pay so I don't have to keep screening for new writers.

hope you loved my article on setting up a coinbas account

No offense but that little snippet you created was pretty bad. One paragraph, 1000's of commas, tons of grammar/spelling issues and non-informative. There is no way I can use that material.

I want to toss out a +1 for this idea. I'm not familiar with GoURL, but guides on how to set up shops are always desirable, as they help expand the BTC economy.

I'm offering help too. This is such a good idea! I can help talking about mining, cloud mining and trading BTC and altcoins.

let me know it it's needed.

Mining would be good, but I'm not a supporter of cloud mining anymore after what Zenminer/GAW Miner did to us. It destroyed my confidence in cloud mining and I automatically assume they are all ponzi's now - for better or for worse. A simple guide on how to buy/sell from an exchange would be good, but not trading or trading strategies as that's not really what I'm going after.

I can write on how to spend their bitcoins on different websites analysis of trends of bitcoin and things like this, please let me know if it works  for you.

Using/spending bitcoin on various services would be a great addition. I'm not too concerned on bitcoin price analysis, but analysis looking at transaction volume or adoption etc would be good too.

That's very nice of you, I must say. It's hard to find people nowadays who'll actually spend money for the greater good than for their personal interest.
I'm willing to help, either writing a few articles or/and help with SEO. (For free Smiley)

The site isn't quite ready for SEO yet, but I'd love a few intro articles. Feel free to pick any topic on bitcoin that would be useful to beginners and have a go at it Smiley
