925  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 12, 2014, 05:22:52 AM
And shorted at 381!!!

lol $386  a few minutes later.

Well what will happen is he will wait to respond. If price crashes he will come in and say "yeah you suckers got caught in a pump and dump, bear trap etc you should have seen that coming like I did etc". IF price continues to go up, he'll say "oh well I saw the momentum [insert some TA evidence here] and I actually closed it at [insert small or no loss here] and then I bought BTC for the ride up ( plus or minus margin)
926  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 12, 2014, 05:09:51 AM
I just put in my first EVER margin buy with a small amount of coins at $379.xx . Lets see if I crash and burn.

Edit: I would really appreciate it if someone could explain the difference between "close" and "claim" on my bitfinex margin buy, in layman's terms please.

Close means you sell your whole position.
Claim means you sell only the margin difference.

Thank you very much. Is there any benefit to claiming a position little by little as price increases?

I'd imagine I'd only want to close the position if I feel the trend will reverse or if I want to walk away with my current gains.
927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 12, 2014, 05:05:40 AM

i bet he shorted at 360 and now short some more...

I'm sure he shorted at $360, sold perfectly around the $330 range. Went leveraged long to $381 and now is in short again. Unless of course BTC breaks $385 then he will have retroactively actually went long on BTC at $380-382 for the first CCMF he has seen since signing up for the forums Cheesy

This isn't the area for this post, but since I put my XMR address here yesterday I'm hoping to find a specific person...

Yesterday/today someone sent me what I would be consider to be a very large amount of coins to just giveaway. If you sent me greater than 30 XMR recently can you please post or PM me your XMR address AND how many coins you sent me (proof it was you). I'm going to conduct my first send transaction and I may as well send some of your coins back to you Smiley

By the way, super THANKS for all that XMR. I hate to admit this, but that XMR "tip" just doubled my current XMR investment as I learn how it all works Cheesy

I would really like to know who sent me the huge amount of Monero, at the very least let me thank you! PM's are fine if you want to remain semi-anon.

If they gave them to you, they are probably reading this thread. Wink

You could evangelize 3-5 people outside of crypto and donate some to them (web wallet will be much better for new people).

Yeah whoever sent it has to be reading this.

I already used part of the Monero to get one of my other buddies into XMR (using a Bter wallet for now because they are very non-tech savvy). That GUI monero wallet that is being created looks amazing!

I think I'll wait for either the DB wallet functionality and/or the GUI wallet and then I'll start giving away some free XMR to my FB buddies.

So with margin buys. If I put up $10 on a 3:1 margin I can buy up to $30 of bitcoin right? Now if bitcoin price doubles my $30 becomes $60 right? How much of that $60 do I get to keep if I claim/close my margin buy?

I am very much looking forward to M3 #18. Especially keen to see the (lower) per-kb transaction fees, as this should encourage greater trading volume/liquidity.

Further news on LMDB progress would be a bonus.  Smiley

The DB works, you can compile the branch and play with it. I'm pretty sure the one below is the correct branch (I haven't been working personally on it).

https://github.com/tewinget/bitmonero/tree/blockchain

See above lyth0s

Thank you! I'll probably wait until it's added to the main project then. I'm not smart enough to go through the code and detect any problems (IE trojans).

And shorted at 381!!!

I like how basically everyone is able to short nearly perfectly at the peaks. But then removes shorts right before it goes up. Good stuff

How does one create a leveraged long/short on Bitfinex?

--Completely new to this.

I finally had some time to try the new database, it's great thanks!  Smiley
Seems like the wallet refresh is also much faster, or is it just my imagination?
Do I still need to keep blockchain.bin?
Wish I had some cash to buy more XMR, but I'm already all in..

I went to the monero.cc site and didn't see the DB function. How do I go from loading the entire blockchain each time to using the DB? My laptop has major memory problems with the chain right now.

“Most doctors will not want to install the implant so a body manipulation artist (preferably not just tattoo artist or piercer) will be your next best bet, but make sure they work according to strict hygiene codes and know what they are doing,”

That was completely 100% NOT sterile technique by any means.

And who would actually store their **private keys*** in their hand that is readable by NFC? Don't make me laugh.

oh for sure I hear you.. this is primitive in its way.

Although I am also certain that in the future more and more technology will go inside the body, it is not that far away.

(and then we will go inside technology, and then who will know where one ends and the other starts)

Your cooperation has been noted.

code + address sent Cheesy

All of that for $1.80 in bitcoins? You should have at least asked for payment before sending the code >.<

I'm sure GAW would have caught on to people doing this pretty quickly. Looks like it's probably no longer valid or maybe they suspended Kings referral program.

It could then be amassing more people over time while the rest is gradualy worked on.

Saying there are  "useable" wallets (complicated and technical heavy) is only a turn off for new discoverers without in depth technical knowledge and confidence.

I feel if the wallet included some mining capability too that could solve some of the other issues, such as securing the network against botnet attack and oversized pools.

From my limited experience with the wallet...there is at least a "mining" function in the help section. I am currently under the assumption that the other developers just have created more efficient miners than the standard wallet/bitmonerod software combo.
