321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 22, 2015, 01:36:42 AM
OMG we broke 0.003! Small dip now to 0.0029 but still doing amazing!
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 20, 2015, 11:42:12 PM
Who was it who was speculating that with a drk price decline that we would see an xmr bump? Now drk seems to be mooning are you speculating that the inverse is true ?

Indeed the rise of DRK looks impressive.  Shocked In coinmarketcap DRK is now # 5....
However it might be just short term though...?
I do not own any DRK, but I should have bought it.
If you think XMR is the ultimate anon coin and you are a DRK bagholder, perhaps it is a good time to diversify now, right?

DRK has had some very nice gains in the past few days, but could you have known it would rise? I mean the whole masternode centralization (and running them on amazon cloud even) is the #1 fatal flaw of DRK to me and its long term success is near 0 IMO simply due to the masternode problem, because there will come a day when masternode owners (or the companies that run the servers) will become compromised to an entity that is willing to pay for the information. If DRK has little to no long term potential then an investment in it is just a gamble.

XMR has a much brighter future and is not reliant on such a weak link in the system. Price today might be higher or lower than yesterday, but you can be more assured of long term gains irrespective of todays price,
323  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: tipbot test topic on: March 20, 2015, 11:32:45 PM
If your bot continuously scans the entire bitcointalk forums for tips I would imagine that it would create enough load to potentially require that your bot be IP banned due to the excessive bandwidth. Maybe not though, you should at least discuss it with theymos first to determine if the bandwidth will be an issue and if he's okay with a tipbot on these forums due to it potentially making the forums a means of "money transmission" and the laws in regards to money transmitters.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the Federal Reserve Issue Their Own Cryptocurrency? on: March 20, 2015, 11:28:40 PM
No, it can't. No way.
It would be totally illegal.

The Federal Reserve, nor any central bank, doesn't have the power to create a new currency. It's duty is to protect, or control, or develop (depending on circumstances) the currency which is legal tender in the country. It cannot create a new currency, and it cannot change the currency it's working with.

They could if they just said that they were "reformatting" the way that the USD is transacted within the banking system and that they are moving to a USDCoin that essentially just takes over the place of the physical USD and digital USD in bank account. They could also create an addendum to the current laws and they would sell the addendum as "we need to adapt the law to the current advances in cryptocurrencies that are among us".

The real question becomes this: IF the fed did create their own coin, would you trade all of your bitcoins in for them? I don't think so...

Also they could create "fake" hard caps to the currency and then they would need to hardfork it every few years to increase the cap, much like they need to vote on "increasing the debt ceiling" every few years...
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevoss Twins Is At It Again on: March 20, 2015, 11:25:16 PM
Winklevoss Twins Says, In 10 Years Cash Will Be Obsolete

http://bitforum.info/t/winklevoss-twins-says-in-10-years-cash-will-be-obsolete/546

For me, its really hard to believe that bitcoin could replace cash, not because bitcoin cannot do it, but because bitcoin now is having a hard time breaking into the mainstream. I don't know what's their basis about they said.

Maybe if they said 25 years, maybe Ill believe them.

Well to be honest I believe that in 10 years physical cash will become obsolete in developed countries all together and we will be using all different sorts of debit cards, credit cards, gift cards, mobile payments etc.

With that being said if bitcoin replaced fiat currency in the next 20 years that'd be amazing. But I highly doubt bitcoin would replace fiat within the next 10 years even if it was super successful.

20 years from now hopefully some will necro this thread and quote me Smiley
326  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What's the total cost to start a gambling site? on: March 20, 2015, 07:30:37 AM
Well the basic costs would be:

1) Website design
2) Programming the front end with connection to a bitcoin wallet/service
3) Website hosting

As far as getting the initial bankroll you could always start off super small without a large investment and then just top the max win at something way smaller than your initial bankroll.

For example You could start with just $1 of bitcoin and have the max win of $0.001, meaning that people would just place bets lower than they would win with the max bet. Then as you build up a bankroll you can keep raising the max win.

The trick with that type of scenario is to get people that would be willing to make micro bets, thousands of statoshis or less per bet....which you'd be surprised to find out how many people do just that!
327  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-3-19] BTCFEED → Earn Money By Shopping With CryptoThrift on: March 20, 2015, 05:27:50 AM
One unfortunate fact in the cryptocurrency market is that people from all around the world have most probably encountered some trouble when it came down to buying or selling something on the Internet with the help of Bitcoin, or any other altcoin. Well, a Bitcoin market known by the name of CryptoThrift has changed this by allowing thousands of people to go ahead and trade whatever they want on the Internet while buying and selling things with the help of their cryptocurrencies.

Unless I have the url mixed up that website has been out for quite a while and isn't really going to change anything. Nothing has really had the success that bitmit did back in the day, most likely due to less people spending their bitcoin in this price slump
328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 20, 2015, 02:21:46 AM
It's nice to see a small price recovery to the 260's, hopefully we will make it back to the $280 range within the next week or so. We are still up 8% over the past 30 days.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 20, 2015, 02:19:30 AM
The bid order market depth is starting to build up again. I'd be quite happily surprised if we reached 0.003 in the next major run up.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero [XMR] fanboys the cancer of this forum. on: March 19, 2015, 10:50:25 PM
They don't only FUD and spam the whole Alternate section with useless stuff ! No they even want you to stop posting into your main Thread of your altcoin.

Small teaser in here

The latest shift for the Xpool Multipool paid out over 12+ DRK, 40+ BTCD, 73+ FIBRE & 0.075+ BTC.

** We are merge mining on all algos. X11: Unitus - SCRYPT: Dogecoin & ViaCoin & SysCoin & PesetaCoin & GreenCoin - SHA256: DevCoin & NameCoin.

Any problems, please PM as I may miss your post.

Cheers!

www.xpool.ca

Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

Enough already.  A paltry 40 BTCD isn't something to brag about.  It makes BTCD look like a zombie coin with minimal interest/network security.

Bitcoin/Monero Fanboys in action. And you ask yourself why there are so many Scams around...
looks like we found who is not that happy about other altcoins.

By the way [mprep] when you delete/clean the altcoin section don't forget to do this on Monero threads too. Because it looks like that you are only here to "Censor" other coins from here.

Monero is not in that quote at all. Also the problem with where that quote most likely came from is a mining pool thread outside of the altcoin mining subform. Mining pool operators got to crazy about a year ago and starting advertising their pools in all sorts of different subforums and hence that rule is not enacted to limit the amount of mining pool spam threads.

Next time that you are trying to link this issue to a specific altcoin please.....well be more specific
331  Economy / Speculation / Re: I already sold all my coins... waiting to get back at $200 on: March 19, 2015, 10:01:25 AM
It will reach 200 very fast, don't have to worry about that, but it will go much lower, i don't think it's smart to buy back at 200 already, try 180 or even around 50. 180 is possible but im unsure if we will stabilize or have a dead cat bounce there of which you can profit.
And what does lead to you this ending?  I don't see any huge drop and i don't think we will go below 240, only if big dump would happen (stollen coins or something along this) then i would think about that scenario but i don't see anything like that anywhere near.

Fundamentals are f'd.
Many stolen coins to be dumped by hackers and governments.
Outdated unscaleable technology.
Development pretty much stopped.
People don't care for funny fantasy internet money.

Considering that, I'm extremely positive with my prediction.

@Inca
I will say i was wrong when it goes back to $500+ steadily and stays there for at least a few months, any big spikes are just cats waiting to die once again.

And yes, i'd love for that to happen.

I still think the concept of bitcoin has great potential, the community just f'd up on so many levels that i don't think we can overcome that dark shadow anymore.. Thanks internet!

How much did you buy that legendary account for? Surely your ability to hold and then trade/sell all those bitcoins from 2010 has made you so rich that you wouldn't even care what the current price per coin is right?
332  Economy / Goods / Re: Need stuff from Amazon on: March 19, 2015, 09:57:42 AM
If someone uses a stolen credit card to make your purchase for you maybe you'll be one of the unlucky people and get an FBI raid at your house like something similar has happened in the past. Is that extra 5% really worth the risk?

334  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 19, 2015, 06:46:39 AM
Im giving up in beliving bears - there wont be sub 200 coming.
never again Undecided Cry

Maybe not, but my monkey thinks 250 in a week or so.  Then 380 in April.

Monkey is right so far, this time.  Time to stock up.

Good call. What does your monkey say about June 2015? September 2015?

Price took a good hit today and I don't think a fast recovery is out of question, but who knows in bitcoinlandia  Roll Eyes
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Threat to Bitcoin? Facebook Rolls Out P2P Payments on Messenger on: March 19, 2015, 06:44:05 AM
A Threat to Bitcoin? Facebook Rolls Out P2P Payments on Messenger
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/threat-bitcoin-facebook-rolls-p2p-payments-messenger/

This is not a threat to Bitcoin at all, it's just a pathetic attempt made by the terrorist organization Federal Reserve to promote their scam USD.
The Facebook P2P payment system is the same as Apple Pay, they're just using a different name to promote their scam USD.

Not a threat at all. it is still a centralized business that is processing payments from one CC/debit card to another via the standard clearing houses in the US. It even says in the article that the payments take 1-3 business days to complete haha. I don't know about you but in this day in age waiting 3 days for money to arrive sounds prehistoric.

Also this won't be able to enable all the bitcoin 2.0 like projects that will be coming out in the next 1-2 years.
336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google ‘experts’ to screen Play apps and updates... Dangerous for Bitcoin apps?? on: March 19, 2015, 06:40:53 AM
I think it is a good thing to have a pair of eyes on the code to the apps that are in the google marketplace since the apps are not open source for all of us to see. If google doesn't want bitcoin apps in their store then they will get rid of them and we can just download the .apk's manually/directly, one of the best things about my android phone Smiley
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Intel joins IBM in race to ‘re-capitalize’ bitcoin’s blockchain technology on: March 19, 2015, 06:38:40 AM
You can't have the blockchain without the bitcoin FFS!
We've been through this already, several times.

the blockchain is not bitcoin.. its a description of how the ledger works, altcoins have blockchains too, every crypto currency altcoin has a blockchain..

thus if they want their own blockchain, they are just saying they are making their own ledger/altcoin.

Although by making your own ledger that a central authority controls you don't even need the blockchain in the first place....it would be the exact same thing as a centralized database. This also creates one focus for hackers and also manipulation by those in power.

The blockchain is nothing useful until you appreciate its decentralized nature....otherwise any centralized version of it is just a database with a nice website/api to "openly" display the live information
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 19, 2015, 06:35:12 AM
Sick of how long it takes to confirm a transaction. I even put a $4.00 miner's fee, and it is still taking over 2 hours for the second time.

Wish it could just be a little faster.... Am I the only one? Lol

Guys I hate to say it, but this new user is just trolling you. Bumping a miners fee to $4 wouldn't increase the confirmation time nor would the OP likely do that in the first place. He is most likely another lambchop alt, just ignore him now and be over it Tongue
339  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The Best Bitcoin Related Mobile Apps? on: March 18, 2015, 11:33:48 PM
I would recommend either blockchain.info wallet or mycelium wallet. Coindesk has a new app. And there is price tickers which you can add to your homescreen. It's actually under Litecoin Widget which then allows you to add widgets to the home screen for bitcoin and pretty much all popular altcoins and you can even choose what exchange rates you'd like to monitor on it.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Generating and verifying signed messages for Altcoins on: March 18, 2015, 11:28:44 PM
If you put this thread in the technical section of the forums instead of the "Beginners" section you will get much better responses and help from other devs. I know you can't move this thread yourself so maybe just lock it and then create a new thread in the technical support section.
