Cool. Let me know if you pass by Amsterdam and I might spare you a sofa (depends if we're there).

Wow, thanks for the offer. Will add it to the list!

I live in Saarbrücken. If you need a place to sleep, you are welcome, of course!

Thanks Smiley Will add it to the list!

If you happen to travel via Slovenia, I can provide you with gas and a couch.

Oh, also, I'm selling a car (Hyundai Elantra, year 1999) for 750 BTC.

Thanks Smiley Will add it to the list!  Don't know about driving in Europe, could be fun tho!

I give a 2 BTC bounty for somebody (who is at least somewhat musical, compose, arrange, record a performance, and upload it to youtube)!
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / da2ce7 in Europe! (in Barcelona) on: April 21, 2011, 03:39:13 PM
Hello all... I'm going to be in Europe for the next few months...
I'll be doing a bit of travelling and have a bit of spare time.
If anyone wants to meet up (get a beer), I'll be more than happy.

Also I'm looking to buy a very/ultra portable laptop while I'm travelling.
(my last laptop decided not to run any more)...

I'll be in the UK from 19 to 23rd of Aug.
Then in Spain from the 25th Aug.

After that... unplanned.

I will not be taking me pgp keys with me.
So I will not be able to do any formal business.

PS. I am happy to speak (English) at any university
about bitcoin and associated technologies if anyone wants a guest speaker.  Grin

805  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Poll] URI scheme - Base/Human units + Encoding on: April 21, 2011, 07:12:00 AM
Hi!

could you give examples how it would look like? And maybe what advanteges there are with each variant (length?).

cheers

sure,

Hex encoding is good if you want to keep the length down.  It also can be easer for computers to phrase.
Decimal Encoding is good because user can directly read the bitcoin amount from the address, with out needing to convert the encoding.

eg. 5F5E100 = 100000000   -  100000000  is easier for a human (unless you are used to hex numbers)

Base units are better for computers to read and use,  as there are floating-point rounding issues.
Human units are easer for Humans to read.

eg 1 BTC = 100000000 base units.  1 BTC is more simple for a human.

Overall base units encoded in hex would be the most standards compliment and technically the best solution.  It is easy for a computer, hard for an human. (Without the use of software)
806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: April 21, 2011, 04:58:59 AM
What an ordeal...  A comedy of errors.  We tried 5 different video editors ...  Final Cut Pro created an 18GB mov file.... then the battery on the MacBook Pro died.
After trying LightWorks, Avid, and getting desperate... We tried OpenShot, PiTiVi, and finally..... Windows Movie Maker + Format Factory -- both free -- worked BRILLIANTLY!

Anyway....

YouTube is saying 507 minutes remaining uploading the show. Yikes! We need to call & order that 35Mbps up & 35Mbps down internet ASAP! :-)

Use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, it is great!
807  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / [Poll] URI scheme - Base/Human units + Encoding on: April 21, 2011, 04:26:39 AM
Hex Encoding:

Base Units: 1BTC = 5F5E100
Human Units: 0.00000001BTC = 1 / 5F5E100

Decimal Encoding:

Base Units:  1BTC = 100000000
Human Units: 0.00000001BTC = 0.00000001

Comments?
808  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Amount of coins to repay to faucet on: April 20, 2011, 08:19:45 AM
Because you've been so forthcoming, I don't think anyone is eager to see you punished.  It's not like you broke the Faucet, and in your own way you helped to make it more secure.  Pay back as much as feels right, but I don't think you should have to pay back more than 40 BTC.  (At least not out of guilt, but feel free to donate more to support the Faucet.)

+1
809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: April 20, 2011, 07:32:21 AM
and correction is part of our "opinions" he listed. My point is that the question that he is asking is kinda useless.... logically, noone will disagree, and if they do, it dosn't matter as their opinion is probably worth nothing

common guys, you know how to summarise quotes better than that!
810  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin got economists stumped on: April 20, 2011, 07:27:41 AM
Bitcoin is weird to them, as it is a 'money' that is 'worth something' and doesn't require 'force' to use.
811  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Windows Phone 7 Bitcoin Client [100 BTC] on: April 19, 2011, 01:28:10 PM
There's also the fact that Windows Phone 7 doesn't allow background processing or multitasking. Whenever you switch away from the app it stops. You'll have to download newest blocks everytime you start it. Again the november 'mango' update should help with this as some form of background operation is supposed to be available.

I don't see any chance of your bounty being claimed if only a completely client side solution is allowed until at least mango becomes available in November-ish (earlier to registered WP7 developers possibly).

No problem with that, by November hopefully 100 BTC will be worth quite large amount of money. Smiley

no, just lazy checking by me:  I searched for James with a 's', not 'z.'  sorry.
813  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Windows Phone 7 Bitcoin Client [100 BTC] on: April 19, 2011, 08:44:07 AM
Full client, except generation and JSON-RPC

da2ce7: 100BTC
It's not possible to do a full client on Windows Phone 7 at this stage. The public API's do not include socket access. Only HTTP requests are allowed. A workaround would need to be done whereby it accesses a client or proxy running on a server. Would that be adequate for the bounty?

In the upcoming 'mango' update due about November for WP7 it will be possible to do socket level access.

This bounty shouldn't be too hard, once bitcoinj has been developed, porting over to C# shouldn't be toohard.  Then a WPF GUI needs to be made, and some sort of way to download/send transactions over http needs to be developed.

817  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Buying] Hosting Wanted on: April 18, 2011, 11:18:06 AM
What kind of hosting do you need? A complete dedicated server? Or only hosting space?

I'm using a vps atm, would like to upgrade to something that is on the metal.  A dual-core Opteron with 2-4gb ram would suffice.
818  Economy / Marketplace / [Closed] Hosting Wanted on: April 18, 2011, 11:12:00 AM
I am looking for a dedicated service.  Needs Good Bandwidth and reliable.
Will pay Bitcoin.  Any offers?
819  Economy / Economics / Re: Read this before having an opinion on economics on: April 18, 2011, 10:52:41 AM
That "debunk" is redundant. You assume intellect cannot be a property so that to copy without consent does not consist in theft. To debunk it, you need to start from the assumption that it consist in property and prove that at some point it contradicts itself or makes no sense. In this case your attempt fails, since you have to assume it stands as a property, in which case the copy is theft, which is aggression.

There is no 'aggression' in copying, as it is independent of the primary party (the author).  No interaction between the 'author' and the 'copier' needs to occur.  If no interaction, no violence can have taken place.
820  Economy / Economics / Re: Read this before having an opinion on economics on: April 18, 2011, 10:41:01 AM
Intellectual property laws are incompatible with Libertarianism.

Lemme rephrase. Do you have anything against the concept of intellectual property?

IP can more easily be debunked from this prospective:

An non-violent act (copying information), needs a violent act (the enforcement of IP rights) to be stopped.
