Guys, I might have this wrong, but wasn't it that posting addy's on the threads was forbidden and would easily cause a thread to be locked down? I don't recall where the rule was posted, but just raising the concern that we might need to switch to PMs or some other method when communicating addresses.

Happy Staking!  Wink

Great to see Hypershield gaining shape and some of the pieces already in motion!  Wink

Anyone that cares to help on making a bit of a buy wall to soften a possible dump-landing is welcome to join me, by adding to my buy order on polo at 1500 sat. I agree that a buy wall should probably not be up at all times, but perhaps we could/should collectively ensure that there's enough support at both sides of the order book to sustain a volume peak within reasonable boundaries.

Edit: To be clear, this wall is not to be perceived as market manipulation, but quite the opposite!
This is an expression of interest by the wall participants, to help in mitigating any attempt of price manipulation by bad actors. Cheerios!

Re: CrazyLoaf.  The abruptness of the about-face on HBN and CAPs, the large dumps  to shake confidence and the level at which he now puts down HBN and CAPs are bit odd.  Add to that to timing that David Latapie just sold a large amount of HYP off market and under value to a special friend of HYP.  Nice little bonus for promoting HYP and putting down HYP CAPs and TEK maybe?  That's right out of the XMR handbook, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Hi there Hilux74.
I don't want to add to any possible FUD or step into anyone's toes, but seeing as I was at the receiving end of that OTC reference with David Latapie, I figured I should just make a quick clarification post.

The 1st ever OTC transaction at ##Hyperstake-OTC was between David & myself. Nothing funny going on, I negotiated with David on a value lower than present day exchange rate, but higher than the exchange rate just 2 or 3 days before. My gist of my argument was that I have grown a lot of interest to HYP, and will remain a long term holder. The HYP side of this transaction is transparent, as I have my address recorded on the HYP rich list.

Please understand that this response is purely motivated out of my respect for both David & CrazyLoaf, and I will not be monitoring this thread for possibly responses.

By all means carry on, be nice all!
Cheers,
~ Myagui

Ya.. good point lets look it up..
[...]

Going by the network statistics, you're absolutely right in that you should/will have mined as many HBN (if not even more) in this recent period when compared to your earlier 24h sample. I just double checked, and found that the block reward remained unchanged as well (5 coins per block ever since launch).

I think that really just leaves a couple of options:
a) Delayed payout, in which case you'll find out soon enough
b) Poor pool performance (rejects, high orphan rate, too little hashrate to find enough blocks on a 24H window, etc)
c) Pool switching to other coins in this period (with even lower BTC profitability rate)
d) Poor trading performance by the pool op (sell low, buy high)
e) Mining Variance. Most noticeable in a small'ish pool, that for the same conditions (same nethash, difficulty, exchange rates), one day might be swell and superbly profitable, while the next day turns out just the opposite.

In any case, I think that it will take a good few days to have a proper idea of the multipool performance and even just to exclude variance (1 unlucky day). Also, the pool op has to fine tune his trading skills for the HYP that he purchases for the payouts, and needs to establish the initial buffer of the 'mining > trading > payout' cycle.

I'm not trying to defend or oppose the multipool in any way, nor your (entirely valid) observations about performance/profitability.
As I see it, and for everyone's benefit, we want the multipool to do well!
That said, we need to find out what's causing the odd performance/payouts, so we can fixit(tm).

@Vegas,

That HBN comparison does not work at all without taking into account the difficulty for HBN at the time of your previous mining period versus the difficulty now. If the difficulty around that time was 10x lower, you would have 10x higher payout then compared to now... Likewise must consider the block reward, if it has changed in this time frame (I'm not familiar with HBN).

Check if you get another payout in the next 24h cycle, as it is possible that your hashing contributions have not all been paid out yet, even though you've stopped mining already. Remember that there is quite a bit of delay between hashing / maturing found blocks / dumping that on exchanges / purchasing HYP / paying out HYP to miners.

On a general note: One should not expect a multipool to ever be the most profitable way to obtain "your coin of choice". It is just the most convenient one, specially if it's PoS only, or if your hardware is not suitable to the mining algorithm in question. What the multipool offers, is the convenience of doing the coin selection and trading on your behalf, so you don't need to bother with it, and you know you'll get paid on the coin you want.
The price for this convenience is high'ish fees, and the caveat that the liquid BTC performance of the pool will not always be the best. That's just how all multipools work though. If you can afford the time & the patience, you're most likely to get a better deal by picking your coin manually, trading it for BTC, and then purchasing HYP.

And a quick off-topic side note: Are you nearing 3MH/s on them 750TI's doing x11 yet?  Wink
Cheers!

Tell me why you love Hyperstake and send me a PM with your Hyperstake address.

Hey there! I've already sent this via PM, then I realized it was perhaps aimed at having responses here on the main thread, so here goes:

I love HYP for the way that it invites people of the entire crypto spectrum to participate while having fun at the same time.
I love it for the great experiment that it is, raising awesome questions on the role and importance of PoS staking as opposed to PoW mining.
I love it for the engaging and helpful community that it maintains over at the various IRC channels (where I spend way more time than I should)!  Cheesy
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 11 Markets on: November 04, 2014, 03:55:00 PM
To be complete :
You stake your stacks.
Sometimes ppl use piles and not stack, but I prefer stacks since a pile suggest a BIG stack.
Then there are ppl who prefer steaks rather then stakes but they are very likely not into POS coins or crypto all together.
So to steak or not to stake a stack would not be the question for them.
While for some of us to steak or stake a stack would be a difficult question to answer, especially if you have a good apatite for both, whether steak or a stake.

Which begs the question:
How much will I stake if I have a stack of steaks?  Roll Eyes
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CrazyLoaf's HyperStake (HYP) Project Idea/Sharing Thread on: November 02, 2014, 05:10:29 PM
Hi fellow HYPsters!  Cool

You probably have all interacted with me at some point in IRC, seeing as that's the place where I'm most present. Though I "joined this party" late, I am having a blast, and just wish I had found about HYP sooner!

I'd like to volunteer for non-technical contributions as that is what suits my profile after all. I don't think that I'd have the time to take on a large responsibility, but I could help a community manager offloading some of his tasks now and then, and be a HYP evangelist in general (helping out new users, driving activity on reddit, etc).
I can also do localization of any documentation or HYP materials to Portuguese, as that is my native language.

Sidenote: One important facet of driving so many initiatives forward, is to ensure that those "doing the work" and creating value are properly rewarded, but whenever possible, that they are rewarded in a way that makes them stakeholders - further strengthening the bond to HYP and ensuring longevity for whichever initiative they take on. Accepting crappy work for a quick buck is not the way to go (I hear that bounties sometimes have this effect). Just food for thought...

I've marked this thread for notifications so that I'll spot any chance to participate, but please feel free to PM me with any collaborative opportunity. Loving the idea of a Hippo mascot!  Cheesy
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: October 31, 2014, 11:17:31 PM
I have a few 750ti x6 rigs running Windows 8.

I've always used EVGA Precision X to overclock and set fans. I recently discovered that if I open Precision to set the clocks and fans, launch ccminer, and then quit Precision - the hash rate goes up. Of course I loose the fan control but the overclocks stay.

Any theories on why this is? I first though maybe CPU, but it's never using higher then about 35% with Precision running and about 25% just ccminer running. Ram usage is about 30% of total.

On x11 it's the difference between 17.2 MH/s or 17.5 MH/s for 6 cards.

The reason is that Precision X adds a few hardware locks when doing the hardware monitoring & particularly the software fan controls. You can tweak the settings in Precision X to make it less noticeable, but for the absolute maximum hashrate, you'll need to close Precision X...

There's more of us sticking around. I wish I had the means to help drive real world usage towards XCN, but unfortunately I have neither the skills nor the time for now. I'm confident that the community, however small it is today, will continue to grow, and figure out ways to push XCN forward.

Happy mining!
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BRO] Coin Sale LIVE! |Breakout Coin|Virtual Mining Rig|CELEBRITIES|Gaming on: October 30, 2014, 06:57:51 PM
@btcsnippers

Plenty of other changes were made in addition to the BRO/BTC ratio. You should probably read the OP again.

Early investors earned only 10% more than those on the following level, so your argument is rather pointless. If you're determined to invest, sooner is better than later. If you're undecided, and you invest towards the end of the ICO, you will receive less BRO for the same amount of BTC.

Place your bets gentlemen!
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 29, 2014, 12:26:08 PM
Well, in Portugal (or euro portuguese) we pronounce euros as euroj so its all the same to us.

I'm with you papa_lazzarou  Wink
I think an English speaker would pronounce it -mo-ne-ro-ge- if matching the Portuguese pronunciation of Moneroj.

For some reason, I just like Moneritos so much better (as a general term, not as the plural of Monero).
I suppose it's just personal sentiment.

Whatever "bonus" period that you are considering for the ICO (next 24, 48 hours, 5 days), I would suggest that those already invested, get a better reward. In the switch from the previous scheme, it is not correct that the earlier investors loose their edge entirely versus those investing today/tomorrow.

Perhaps 6.000 BRO per BTC for those already invested before the plans were adjusted, then 5.000 BRO per BTC for the bonus time window (next 48 hours is perfectly reasonable). Or even 6.600/6.000 (10% early bird reward) for example.

Best of luck!

Adding to my earlier post:
Since you guys are considering possibly removal of the PoW, I hope you're also evaluating different schemes that keep some duration of PoW, but with revised rewards regarding the total emission. I think that a short PoW for a (much) smaller amount of BRO, would still be beneficial towards a healthier distribution and reaching a wider audience.

Here's just an example, please don't take these numbers too seriously.
Previously: 2 year PoW, generating 7 million BRO with Bergstake.
Updated: 1 month PoW, generating 100K BRO with Bergstake.

However dramatic the change in total BRO generated by PoW, it is proportional to the initial plan, but shorted to a month's duration of PoW. It would allow for a wider audience to take part in BRO, as long as there would be pool support to distribute Bergstake to the individual miners. As stated earlier I'm happy with removing PoW entirely. I just think that we should evaluate all options.

Perhaps a vote should be called upon before completing the ICO? Could take a snapshot of investor opinions at halfway through the ICO duration, so that there's still time for others to make up their mind after a definitive plan is known.
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 26, 2014, 03:29:16 PM
The Monero dev team has shown time and again, that they are superbly focused on items that concern the core of Monero fundamentals & security, and have been improving the code base with each release. It should be very clear for everyone, that Monero needs a lot of development work before it can be called "mature", in any sense of the word.

That said, cosmetic improvements or eagerness to reach a wider user base and utility, are not particularly meaningful until such time that the tools are in place for ease of use, accessibility & user convenience. The necessary work is underway.

I would just like to take a moment to appreciate one critical difference between the Monero dev team, and what I've observed in most other coins: The Monero dev team, have shown to be solid development architects, and are clearly thinking well and through, the development decisions at each step of the way.
The keyword is architects. There are plenty of developers around, both good ones, bad ones, and anything in between. However, there are very few that can be called development architects. Those that have any intimacy with the development world will appreciate this difference, and see that this is not at all about the semantics.

In case I happen to land on some more BTC, I'll continue to increase my little Monero stash, even though I understand that Monero might very well continue on a downtrend for a while longer. I continue to mine Monero at a small pool. I'll be donating some more when I reach my next holding milestone. Join me. Or don't.

Definitely +1 to removing the PoW entirely.
It's great to see that the team is really listening to the feedback here, and adjusting plans as necessary/adequate.

The way that the ICO is structured, it just looks like the early bird bonus is not enough to outweigh the advantage of joining later. A lot of people will probably want to see how much the ICO raises close to day 30, before taking the plunge. Either way, too early to tell...
Cheers!

I've sent a couple of PMs, but thinking you might still have some e-mail trouble as I'm not getting any reply.
Would you be around IRC soon? (fell free to delete this message after you reach me)
