That's not linear regression, and it's not even the exponential curve you would get by doing linear regression on a log chart. What curve fitting did they use... anybody?

So are you going to use your smarts to avoid problems, or are you going to turn this into an arms race? I bring two people, next time you bring three, pretty soon we're all walking around with armed bodyguards to protect our phones.

there is really no point in defending yourself against an arrogant bigoted ignoramus. especially a clever one. they travel in packs around here. only place i ever spent more time that was worse was m.i.t. oh, and teza. wow. teza was a mindblower.
You mean teza wasn't all hugs and kisses? From the teza website: "Teza... fosters an open, collegial and welcoming office environment." I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

can't sign up with poloniex, it's been like this all day. Anybody have any information?
Type in email, password, captcha, agree, click Create Account -- and it opens up a blank page with an empty dialog box and just hangs there.

It is an interesting idea. With some tweaking and analysis you might be able to overcome the set up cost with labor savings.
They used to have restaurants in the northeastern US that were similar. My father in law ate at a lot of automats growing up in Brooklyn NY.
When I came to New York in 1981 there was still a Horn & Hardart automat at 42nd and Third Avenue, or maybe it was Lexington. anyway, it was the last one and closed a few years later. They used to be all over town, a cheap place to eat during the Depression. Automats were featured in a lot of old movies and musicals.

The previous 'bubbles' ended when the price was at exactly +0.47 log units above trend.
I'd advice selling between +0.4 and +0.45 log units above trend, depending on how much risk/reward you like to see.
The lowest points between the tops has been mostly -0.45 or so below trend. So that would be a good point to rebuy.
What the price is exactly depends on what time we are at, as the log price increases every day.
If the bubble hits when I think it will hit, rptiela is spot on with his $5000 claim. But I'll make my decision on the log units mostly, and absolute price only secondarily, and of course my own TA charts.
Note that in the the last two bubbles, the price when the run-up crossed the trend line was very nearly equal to the price at the bottom of the subsequent slump. This means that if the repeating bubble pattern holds, the point at which the run-up crosses the trend line is the earliest point at which it's possible to start unwinding your long position without making yourself worse off than you would be if you adopted a permanent holding long strategy. Some people advise holding as the most sensible approach, but as we've seen, BTC gets severely overpriced at times, so the permanent hold strategy is too conservative, and will actually increase your risk at certain times. I think it might be a good idea to start selling small amounts as soon as we cross above the trend line. If you have faith that this bubble will hit the same max with respect to the exponential trend as the last two bubbles did, then you can wait until Bitcoin is heavily overvalued to sell. But the idea that we are going to have a carbon copy of the last two bubbles strikes me as a little fishy. It's lax thinking.

A lot of people like to generate their own keys instead of using the key(s) generated in the wallet. Some people generate addresses in Armory and import them into mycelium for mobile use.

If you sell to Second Market, get ready to pay the capital gains tax. Seems likely they would report to the IRS.

I have some news to report. Somebody I know who lives in New Mexico just registered on Kraken today. After registering the account, Kraken is giving her the option of verifying at the higher tier levels. I think I can say that Kraken serves New Mexico.

I've migrated completely off my computer to my smart phone and cold storage. Mycelium works great for storing coin and also spending from paper wallets.
Is mycelium new or something didn't heard of it, basically i want to buy Bitcoin send to my wallet and send o an exchange, but first want to send it to my wallet so need something simple like the original, do you know how much space the bitcoin-qt takes? Bitcoin QT takes up a ton of space, which is 17 GB right now. I suggest >Electrum. Dude says he wants to use a phone. Electrum was a p.i.t.a. to install on my android device. I use an android tablet (Nexus 7), which doesn't come with java python. Installing Electrum was a very involved process, and I didn't even succeed on my own. A computer expert friend of mine had to do it for me. If you have a device that has java python, it would be much easier. To import a private key or spend from cold storage, mycelium is the best. Bring up a qr code of the private key and point the phone at it. I don't think you can do that with other wallets. I boot my laptop from a live linux usb, open bitaddress.org offline, and type in my brainwallet passphrase. That brings up the qr codes for the address and key. Then I get my tablet with mycelium on it and point it at the qr code for the private key. In mycelium you can import the key, which gives you access to the entire contents of the brainwallet/cold storage, or you can do a partial spend from it. You sacrifice some privacy with partial spends, and you also sacrifice some security because the spend exposes your public key, which has less entropy than the address does; it also exposes prng vulnerabilities which don't exist otherwise. NOTE: Mycelium does not have its own child board under "Alternative Clients," but it does have a very active thread on that board which is now about 35 pages long, with lots of good information. You should go there and have a look.

The address you send from or receive with depends on the currently selected address just when you send / receive funds with the wallet. So the transactions used for trading only occur with the local trader access address if this is where you store your coins. You can even put the local trader address in your archive. Hope this clarifies OK, so you can use addresses in local trader other than the address whose key is associated with the local trader account? If so, my concerns were misplaced.
|
|
|
You cannot change the local trader address associated with a trader account. The encrypted trade history of your account can only be decrypted with the private key of the address the trader account is associated with.
In the wallet, one has the advanced options, beyond making all transactions on a single address. As you continue developing mycelium's capabilities, do you foresee enabling more advanced functionality in local trader? I aspire to building a reputation as a trader, and I wish to make many transactions in the coming years. Making all the transactions at the same address brings up privacy concerns. As you work to integrate HD in the wallet, in the same vein, please consider making improvements in the flexiblity of local trader; perhaps syncing local trader with the main wallet's HD, for example.
