This rather interesting, but don't forget ASIC have only started to ship.. between avalon, bfl, and knc there are probably tens of thousands of units (ordered) waiting to ship... Meanwhile, if you order from ASICMiner, you can have your hardware within a few days. Methinks: so maybe 3 major ASICs producers have coincidentally stopped their pre-shipping "burnin tests", more or less around the same time.

Im pretty sure the DEA always confiscates drug money, digital or otherwise, nothing to see here move along
I think the dealer "collaborated" under the classic threat of a life in prison. Probably he even showed them how much was in his bitcoin wallet. I think at least one DEA investigator has spent some time into learning how bitcoin, Tor and Silk Road work. This investigator is not likely to be in for a promotion. Not for catching such a small fish.

The fact Gox goes down for a few hours intermittently is now considered acceptable. There's the chance that one day it will go down as usual, and yet never come back up.

Why do americans think they matter so much...
Maybe the real question is why do YOU think thats our opinion. Maybe the problem isnt so much us.. but people like you? PS. idiots are idiots everywhere and they all talk loud. Take that however you feel like, just pointing out a fact of the human race. Careful with words. People are never the problem. It's what some people do that you have a problem with. That's an important distinction. Otherwise you might be led into thinking that by erasing the people you solve the problem.

2) MtGox still has the highest liquidity.
Huh? I thought liquidity was, by definition, the capability to take money in and out?

Thanks for the link. It is providing entertainment indeed. :-)

Where are the people in this thread?
1. It's summer weekend. Only losers like me are reading this. 2. Or they all are on IRC trying to understand what really is going on

I was just reading about the SWIFT (international wire) system and read something very alarming : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SWIFT#US_Control_over_Transactions_within_the_European_UnionUS Control over Transactions within the European Union
On 26 February 2012 the Danish newspaper Berlingske reported that US authorities evidently have sufficient control over SWIFT to seize money being transferred between two EU countries (Denmark and Germany), since they have seized around U$26,000 which were being transferred from a Danish to a German bank. The money was a payment by a Danish businessman for a batch of Cuban cigars previously imported to Germany by a German supplier. As justification for the seizure, the U.S. Treasury has stated that the Danish businessman has violated the United States embargo against Cuba.[23]
WTF ! If the US decides to go after Bitcoin in a big and more covert way then they could are disrupt ing transactions which go nowhere near a US bank. I corrected your spelling we know bitcoin was created to empower people to transfer money without governments and banks involved. They are not the kind of people who state their intentions in the open. I expect them to lose that war in the long run. But not without a massive dirty fight. As for Gox I think their days are counted. Gox and BTC, compare to Napster and MP3.

Looking like big US players are blocking $$ transfer. We are not really surprised, aren`t we ? Hope Mt. Gox will find solutions to circumvent the hiatus. It would be interesting what Citibanks "internal guidelines" are stating.
First of all this is very helpful. Thanks for the useful information. It clears out some BS from Gox and makes us understand that the banks are playing dirty. Second you are in Switzerland but still your transfers from Japan do not get through - which means that there are US banks involved in the Swift transfer (the ones you mentioned) and they are (likely illegally) performing a blockade. Go sue them. Good luck

the most retarded part of all this is people that bought on mtgox and then sold on bitstamp will wait 2 weeks for their bitstamp USD Withdrawal to process and feel really good about it.
Really? I've seen plenty of people mentioning they'd had wires take 2-3 days, and generally much faster than mtgox. you think they will be able to handle the huge amounts of withdrawal about to be requested? we'll see They did during April's bubble so I think they'll do now.

1. Buy BTC on bitstamp 2. Sell on MtGox 3. (Withdraw EUR) 4. Profit!! Good luck waiting for your SEPA transfer to arrive.

Dear Bitcoin,
I will be gone for a few days and will be away from technology. Please don't do anything fucking crazy while i'm gone.
Love, Ares
Good luck. Even going to the bathroom is not safe around Bitcoin. Unless you are taking a dump
