741  Economy / Service Discussion / got BitStamp same day SEPA deposit on: September 13, 2013, 01:57:36 PM
Hi,

just I have to say that I'm impressed with my 5-digit EUR transfer credited on the same day it was sent from my bank.
Way to go BitStamp.
742  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another battle about lost MtGox BTC withdraws :) on: August 20, 2013, 07:10:43 PM
So, better not withdraw BTC from Gox at the moment. But you still can send Bitcoins to Gox or has anyone even had problems with it?

Seriously, what is the matter with you? Do you like to see people suffer? You are disgusting.

He's successfully interviewed for the Gox shill position. Trolling is part of his new role.
Just put him in ignore list and leave him there.
743  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Missing BTC withdrawal from MT GOX on: August 19, 2013, 08:18:55 PM
Gene, Aug 19 12:23 (JST):
Hello,

(...) Normally BTC transactions may occasionally be a delay (1~24 hours) depending on network congestion, your internet connection speed and the time required to get 6 confirmations on the network. However as its xxxBTC it takes time as we will not be able to provide an exact ETA however it will take 1 to 2 weeks depending on the the network congestion.Your BTC is not stolen, its an automatic process so we will not be able to manually process the transaction. We request you to wait and we will continue to check this as well. (...)
Best regards,

Mt.Gox Team
https://www.mtgox.com

What a load of bollocks, Gox support  Angry

Bigger transactions qualify for no network fee and are relayed straightaway.
We all know how long does it take for 6 confirmations.
And... your internet connection speed? Network congestion? Really?
What a fscking load of bollocks.
744  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp: Should we be worried about it being shut down? on: August 19, 2013, 05:45:29 PM
I always avoided them simply because they were listed as being in Slovenia.

As it turns out to be, Slovenia is one of the most BTC friendly places, at the moment.

Slovenia is also likely the next place that goes Cyprus. i wouldn't want to keep much money at a Slovenian bank.

As already said in this forum, BitStamp's bank is not Slovenian although it operates in Slovenia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UniCredit

UniCredit is a large Italian bank partly owned by German investors. It is less likely to fail than a  local Slovenian bank.
745  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gox/Bitstamp spread breaches 20%. The bank run on Gox has started! 8/19 on: August 19, 2013, 09:11:28 AM
Bitstamp is at 102.6$ now so going up. Up 3.3% for the day.

There is a certain "drag effect" that makes it so that the bank run on Gox brings also Stamp price up.
On as to how much of that drag is due to end of holidays + new bubble starting rather than due to suckers that think "Gox price is up, buy buy buy on Stamp that's cheaper" - well that topic is likely going to be a hot debate in the speculation forum.
746  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 18, 2013, 12:32:44 PM
The jp transfers might make it in 2 or 3 days until perhaps some day they don't. Who knows for sure anything what is actually going on?

in any case, having a bank account in Japan could be worth arbitragemillions

Arbitragemillions which could come handy to Gox e.g. in order to counterbalance Dwolla seizure and pay for legal expenses?

Can't help thinking there is a possibility that we all are being played big time.
Might be harsh but after all we are moving in libertarian fuckall territory.
747  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITSTAMP SEPA account flagged - no transfer countries/banks' list (upd 13/08) on: August 14, 2013, 08:26:07 AM
Hey guys it's Wednesday and no news yet.

Did any transfer sent to BitStamp SEPA last Friday get credited?
748  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 12, 2013, 08:39:51 PM
since when is it difficult to get btc out of gox? did i miss something?
or is that a prediction for the future?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=272454.0

There are two more complaints in the main withdrawal delays thread: someone claims he has not been able to take coins out since July 29 and someone else claims that he always gets an error message saying his IP was banned due to too many attempts - even if he tries to connect with another computer and different IP.
749  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox: Wait it out or take haircut. (only vote if > $1k in gox account) on: August 12, 2013, 08:17:39 PM
It might be too late to wait.
750  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox wire withdrawal, usd on: August 12, 2013, 12:14:04 PM
should be ready by Tuesday or Wednesday the latest.
751  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 07, 2013, 09:07:54 AM
So SEPA is slow because the bank put a cap on the maximum amounts that can go out via SEPA.
Would that be legal?
After all SEPA has been created with the purpose of having 1-day transfers, so I kind of doubt a bank can "just delay them".

You are right there. AFAIK A SEPA transfer has to clear within 48 hours.
I think that the alleged "queue" is at Gox, not at the bank.
The bank only accepts transfers up to a certain amount per day and rejects the rest.
They are allowed to do so. AFAIK there is always a cap to transfers in any bank account's terms and conditions.
So the bank is legally in the clear.

Side note: last SEPA transfers seem to have arrived from Germany not Poland. Can anyone confirm?
752  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 07, 2013, 08:01:29 AM
Ok here's my speculation of the day:

There is at least one major international bank (Citi) which is part of many SWIFT chains and is refusing transfers to/from Gox.
Maybe Bank of America is also causing troubles along the chain. Why? Because they can. ("yeah Gox, come after us in court if you can afford it")
Those banks are playing dirty tricks like refusing some of the transfers and causing late chargebacks. That would explains why Japan transfers are allegedly working fine.
The SEPA problem is of different nature: all SEPA banks atm honour the transfers but the MtGox business is "not so desirable" for the Polish bank they use, whatever reason there might be. So SEPA is slow because the bank put a cap on the maximum amounts that can go out via SEPA.

MtGox chooses not to clearly communicate the banking problems they are having because doing so would cause a sudden run on them. A slow death is better than a sudden death. Maybe at this point in time they still hope to bring down their volume to a manageable size without totally disappearing into oblivion.

The bad banks work by flagging / blacklisting accounts so in order to counteract their measures Gox is trying to play hide and seek: open a number of accounts with other banks. Splitting the money across multiple pots allows them to be more resistant to individual account freezes. But it also implies a management overhead and extra costs for moving the money across accounts / keeping them replenished.

In the meanwhile nobody knowns the size of the Dwolla seizure, nor whether any other seizures have happened, nor the amount of damage caused by reversed deposits.

As of today, were there to be a run on Gox, they would end up insolvent and bankrupt. Which still has a high likeliness to happen.
I think they are hanging around hoping to find a way out of the tunnel.
753  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MTGOX has not paid us since 26th of June! on: August 06, 2013, 11:38:55 AM
Can anyone suggest a good alternative to MTGOX?

Search the forum. BitStamp SEPA transfers work fine. Switzerland is SEPA member.

BitStamp exchange is priced in USD but they only receive/send EUR via SEPA. So all their transfers are converted to EUR although they use ECB reference rates so they take no extra cut out of the conversion* - but your bank might take an additional conversion fee for transfers in a foreign currency. So you might want to open a bank account in EUR which I'm sure is possible in Switzerland.

* anyone correct me if I'm wrong here.
754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 1Up fever - Bitcoin AR App that distributes bitcoins pops up in Berlin? on: August 05, 2013, 09:43:34 PM
Looks ... pathetic

755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The 1Up fever (Mockumentary) Bitcoin AR App that distributes bitcoins in Berlin on: August 05, 2013, 09:29:16 PM
Someone who knows I'm into bitcoins just sent me a link to this:

http://vimeo.com/71559751

I googled for it and I found that a flash mob event was presumably organized in Berlin.

http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Lab-Berlin/messages/boards/thread/34789392

Does anyone have more info to share about this event and app?
Because I just think that the idea in itself is freaking cool.

EDIT: Corrected to "Mockumentary" after more googling around. So no such app exists yet. Reason: http://www.berlinsymphony.com/
756  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt gox successful withdrawal on: August 04, 2013, 09:30:44 AM

757  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Intersango money withdrawals frozen since 14th March 2013 on: July 31, 2013, 01:43:45 PM
I have sent 4 letters so far and I still have not received my money.
Didn't you sue them?

Not yet.
Why, lol?

Let me guess that.

Because if for RoyalSands it is such a pain just to write a letter, print it and post it (which I totally understand), imagine how painful it is to find time to go see a lawyer. Whose fees will be higher than those 943$.
Because it is a matter of principle with little money involved.
Those matters are the harder ones to justify fighting for. I mean for people who have better things to do in life.

But still.
758  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox Confirmed issue unable to withdrawl BTC currently on: July 29, 2013, 11:14:43 PM

760  Economy / Service Discussion / Conspiracy theory: MtGox staging long painful death on: July 26, 2013, 11:57:41 AM
So here's my morning's brain fart:

US banks and US govt are circling around Karpeles' business. He knows that the Powers that Be have decided MtGox' death. He can't win this epic battle legally.

Also it's been said multiple times in this forum: bitcoin economy is too centralized around a single exchange. For the sake of Bitcoin's success, elephant MtGox has to go.
Karpeles knows that and he is a strong believer in the bitcoin idea. To the point of sacrificing his own business for the success of bitcoins.
So rather than going out with a big boom he is doing the bitcoin economy a favour by making MtGox slowly fail and die.

In such context Roger Ver's video kinda makes sense. He's helping Gox' slow exit from the scene. He is not lying but his act is meant to be ambiguous and not inspiring confidence.

Karpeles: the hero that bitcoin community deserves, but not the one it needs right now  Grin

EDIT: corrected most of the spelling mistakes to please our native English speaking friends. But left some just because it's a nice day outside.
