581  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's Slumping Value is Proof that the Value is Based on Monetary Expansion on: December 20, 2013, 10:11:26 PM
bitinlet everyone has its own opinion I respect your opinion but from my point of view in long run bitcoin is in big dangerous due to strict policies against bitcoin it has already became too volatile these days so if in case world powers continue to push it then it might fall forever. At the end I must say it’s just an opinion but not a fact yet

Here son, take some: ; . , : ; ; . , . . .

And do breathe more often. It's a healthy habit.

Wow, BTCChina is completely dead atm. No money left there?

Middle of the night. Most traders are sleeping - and maybe they have lost interest for now. Bots are mostly off because trading fees.

It's only the chinese and regular folks prone to panic who are dumping.

The real whales are accumulating at these prices.

Don't take my word for it. Go back a few pages and carefully read Loaded's posts. They are quite telling (and bullish).....

I speculate he's one of the whales who are dumping right now, in order to buy back lower, because it just makes sense.
I mean hey guys I know you all need a hero figure but he is a portfolio manager! Making money for his customers is his job.
I speculate that he dumped close enough to the top and he cashed out fiat. Then he flew to China with bags of cash, and he gave them directly to Bobby Lee in order to deposit them on his BTCChina account. The he slowly bought coins, causing the price rise in BTCChina.
And now he is closing the circle and dumping again, for a second final round of this "squeeze-a-nob" game.

SilkRoad 2 guy arrested in Ireland. FBI got another 200k EUR worth of bitcoins.

FBI has no jurisdiction to seize coins in Ireland. Any link with specific details of the seizure please please please...?

Coins are on the interwebs not in Ireland.  Jurisdiction is irrelevant.

ah ok, thanks for lecture, I must be new.

Interesting statement from a few days ago

Quote
The Revenue Commissioners are "actively" monitoring the use of bitcoin in an effort to catch tax cheats.

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan says the use of bitcoin instead of traditional cash does not pose much of a tax risk, because people will still pay VAT when paying for goods and services.

The online currency has become popular among money launderers as a way to move money around the globe without being taxed.

But Minister Noonan says that the threat to the Exchequer is low because anyone who is likely to use bitcoin to skip taxes is probably already acting illegally anyway.

It is the first time that the Government here has discussed the risks posed by the use of the so-called "crypto-currency".

Btw - an Irish friend of mine in chat just called Noonan "a twat" and pointed me to this: http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/three-key-truths-about-the-bailout-which-we-are-only-learning-now-1.1629738

FBI actually does what ever the hell they please, anything they cant do public they have mercenary agents for...

The article says that the guy was arrested by Garda Siochana, which is the Irish police.
So unless the Irish police are dumb (which is also a possibility), the coins stay with an Irish court.
Otherwise I foresee an interesting diplomatic issue arising very very soon.

but I refuse to buy any higher than $400... however long I have to wait

Ambitious target you set there. Way too ambitious, I believe. Time will tell.
How about a compromise? Like you seem pretty confident that we are going down. Then you at least guess a range for your bottom as opposed to a single number. And spread your buy orders in that range. So in your worst case scenario at least you end up hodling SOME coins. As opposed to seeing the train come closer and go away again.

What happened to this thread?

It's kinda gone silent, isnt' it?

C'mon guys, today might be a good day for you. Correction from sucker's rally is already happening. Support on Stamp around 630. Will it be broken or not?

594  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500 - how did you know? on: December 19, 2013, 09:55:44 PM
OTOH: Chinese mania started when they broke 2000 CNY. So yesterday I said at a meetup that if you have the balls to trade then you should place buy orders around the USD equivalent of 2500 CNY. But I also said: that number is mostly a guess out of my ass. Although I looked confident and showed charts on my phone as "proof".

So price will drop to $400?

I see the mania in USD as starting around mid-$200. So we will drop all the way back there? Is this how crashes work?

I don't know what happened, but Coinbase actually dropped to $400 when I randomly woke up this AM and checked my phone.  Grabbed a few coins at that price, wish I had more fiat.

Bitstamp was at $397?

I know I bought 4 coins at 383.

Looks like a double top is forming.
I think we might go down from here on ...

Yup, i stopped hodling and went deep into fiat. No reason for market to have recovered this fast, we will go back to 500's.

You might be right, you might be wrong, who knows.

598  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anyone withdrawn bitcoin from BTC China for arbitrage in the past few days? on: December 19, 2013, 04:20:22 PM
Because there is no way to deposit there. It's the same situation as on mtgox, just reversed.

Damn, Bitcoin is so stupid.

im sure there are plenty of whales in china who still have bitcoins.

For some western whales the arbitration opportunity was well worth a business trip to the China Free Trade zone, in person and with a bag full of cash.
