8101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here's Why Ethereum Is a Better Bet, Says Reddit Cofounder on: May 10, 2018, 01:56:00 AM
@snapee11. No bitcoin is at the top because it is the most used and most widely accepted cryptocoin in the world. It is also the safest and the most secure to use. One confirmation for a bitcoin transaction would be enough, others need more to be considered safe.

Lets not forget that BTC is immutable and ETH is, well ...

Yes. The DAO debacle was a good lesson where everyone learned about hard forks, cryptocoin governance and the community. I reckon the Ethereum Foundation will not be making the same mistake twice hehehe.
8102  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-2018] Blockchain Is ‘World-Changing’, Says U.S. Congressman on: May 10, 2018, 01:29:17 AM
@Hamphser. The SEC is open to more discussions about blockchain technology and the cryptospace in general, and some of their congressmen were also open to discussing on how to create loose laws around it instead of a strict regulatory sand box.

Yes good news. Very unlike of what occured in China.

Afaik this IP ban is just temporary my country's IP was banned a few days back then was unbanned after a few hours. I asked their support what was the reason behind it and they said there was a lot of suspicious activities coming from these countries. Don't worry you're not banned though you can still access nitrogensports with a vpn.

If your country is banned but the people from there are allowed by Nitrogensports to access their website with a VPN, then would it not be contrary to the ban?

Also it is the cheaters who use VPNs. I reckon it would be better to ban VPNs, proxies and others. There should only be one IP for one user allowed to access a gambling site. That should be a special rule.
8104  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-08] Bitcoin to Rally on Consensus Conference, Fundstrat Analyst Says on: May 09, 2018, 02:06:24 AM
@slaman29. That is a very easy prediction to make. Last year during Consensus 2018, bitcoin went up, and some of the other cryptocoins were pumped by 10x or more. That analyst might be hoping the same will happen during this year's Consensus hehehe.

I reckon it will not pump as crazy as it did last year.
8105  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-2018] Blockchain Is ‘World-Changing’, Says U.S. Congressman on: May 09, 2018, 01:51:57 AM
Does that mean they will give Ethereum and ICOs safe harbor in America hehehe.

I reckon they have no choice but to accept decentralized blockchain based cryptocoin ICO projects and platforms, because if they categorize them as illegal securites then they will have a bigger problem in trying to enforce the law. It will also show that they have no control over their financial system.

They would not want that.
8106  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-07] Wall Street Analyst Concerned About Bitcoin Price, Not Convinced on: May 08, 2018, 03:37:01 AM
FUD and that analyst may be planning to make everyone discouraged on bitcoin and may also start shilling about other altcoins that his investor friends may have been speculating in. Expect it by the end of 2018.
8107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Big Day For ETH, Will the SEC Consider it a Security? With updates after news on: May 08, 2018, 02:58:09 AM
@snapee11. Agreed. Also the funny part is these discussions with the American government are really an opportunity for the cryptospace representatives to shill blockchain hehehe.
8108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Big Day For ETH, Will the SEC Consider it a Security? on: May 08, 2018, 02:37:24 AM
It appears that the day the SEC was to decide on how to categorize ETH was FUD made by the media to get more hits on their sites. There were discussions made but it was not to make a decision on the future of ETH's legality. It was to discuss about the different technological developments in the cryptospace.

Markets trembled this weekend amid rumors of a regulatory crackdown on Ethereum, which may, or may not, be labeled an unregistered security.  After two days of tense sell-offs and plummeting prices, investors woke up on Monday morning to learn that the US government had decided….nothing. The ticking time bomb was a dud.

There were no signs of a ruling or a hearing from either the SEC or CFTC on Monday morning, nor were any meetings planned relating to cryptocurrencies at either agency. Reports of an imminent crackdown were traced back to one line in the Wall Street Journal a week earlier, which reported that senior figures in the two agencies might meet to “discuss the matter.”

Based on Paul Vigna’s off-the-cuff comment in a WSJ article, various crypto media outlets began reporting that decisions were imminent, Ethereum was on the block, Ripple might be too! The FUD spread. Crypto ‘insiders’ were fed Telegram tips suggesting that a ‘friend of a friend’ was in a meeting with the Feds, and knew that Ethereum was going to be declared a security. The FUD spread further.

8109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If Ethereum is considered a security by the SEC, what would Ethereum Classic be? on: May 08, 2018, 01:44:25 AM
@BTCwin1. Yes that is what they are delibirating about. The closed door discussion between the SEC and the people from the cryptospace did not come to any decision on how to categorize ETH.

I reckon the SEC fears that, if they say that it's an illegal security, but  cannot stop Ethereum because it is decentralized, then it would show that the American government has no control over their financial system anymore.

It might take years before they can make a decision on how to categorize the cryptospace.
8110  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-05] Brian Kelly: Bitcoin Is on the Rise and Can No Longer Be Ignored on: May 07, 2018, 02:52:21 AM
I reckon Brian Kelly did not consider the impact of the SEC's decision on if ETH is an illegal security or a utility token. If they do then it would mean the end of the cryptospace in America and it might have a bad longterm effect on the price of all cryptocoins, not only ETH.

The decision is supposed to be today, but I do not know what time.
8111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Reason behind Etherium price falling on: May 07, 2018, 02:28:31 AM
All of you should read the news more because the cryptospace's future is in a delicate situation. Today the USA's SEC will decide if ETH is a illegal security or not. If they say that it is then that will the end of all the cryptospace development in America. Exchanges too will be liable for listing ETH and other tokens categorized as securities.
8112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / If Ethereum is considered a security by the SEC, what would Ethereum Classic be? on: May 07, 2018, 02:21:07 AM
What would happen to Ethereum Classic if Ethereum was considered a security by the SEC? Technically was Ethereum not the fork and Ethereum Classic the original? Shouldn't the SEC instead go after Ethereum Classic?

This is a very confusing matter and, for me, something the SEC cannot handle. The future of the cryptospace should not rest on the decision of a group of people who do not know anything about it.
8113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Big Day For ETH, Will the SEC Consider it a Security? With updates after news on: May 07, 2018, 02:06:14 AM
I hope the USA's SEC knows what would possibly happen if they categorize ETH as a security. It would scare away the innovators from their country and continue on with their projects in other welcoming countries like Switzerland.

I have been a critic of Ethereum because I disagree in some of the ways the Ethereum Foundation handled the DAO and the promises made by their development team that may not happen, like the switch to POS. But it does not mean I want to see them go down.

In any case, I wish Ethereum would be give safe harbor. They should be given space to innovate I reckon.

“When you depart from the bitcoin or the ethereum, and you get into the tokens, the hallmarks become pretty clear.”

So said Jay Clayton, Chairman of the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) in November. Then, only a few weeks ago during a hearing, he said:

“It’s a complicated area. Because, as you said, there are different types of cryptoassets. Let me try and divide them into two areas.

A pure medium of exchange, the one that’s most often cited, is Bitcoin. As a replacement for currency, that has been determined by most people to not be a security.

Then there are tokens, which are used to finance projects. I’ve been on the record saying there are very few, there’s none that I’ve seen, tokens that aren’t securities.”

Whether tokens are securities or not, has not been decided by any court. SEC’s interpretation that they are, is just an interpretation by some lawyers. Other lawyers have different interpretations.

In the context of a criminal case, one such lawyer has put forth some strong reasons as to why some tokens are not a security.

It is a criminal case, and the judge sits in the FISCA court, and it is being heard in Wall Street’s New York, so it wouldn’t surprise us if the judge decides the token is a security.

However, as this is a new area, and the judge would in effect be making a new law by interpreting old law, it would probably, or at least hopefully, be appealed whichever way it goes up to the Supreme Court so that the most senior judges of the land give their verdict on this very important matter.

With that case in the background, cynicnodes would be faulted for thinking SEC might be playing games by recent suggestions they are to discuss tomorrow whether eth is a security.

They could be trying to “scare” us by bringing ethereum to the table and potential classification as security so that we “accept” that actual tokens are a security.

Although it may well be their discussion is following a request by a number of Silicon Valley based Venture Capitalists for “safe harbor” for tokens that then have a running network or functionality.

Generally speaking, there is no reason to accept tokens are a security without a Supreme Court judgment or by a new law from Congress.

8114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: May 07, 2018, 01:32:21 AM
I was thinking about this over this weekend. Are we the shitcoin? I criticize Ethereum and other cryptocoins for being centralized but I have not looked at the coin I support more objectively.

We have low market capitalization, a very low volume orderbook and the code is very outdated, but soon will only be a Monero copycat.

Also, if I wanted to dump all my coins, I can't because it would crash the price. I am not saying I am a whale. It will not take that much to crash Aeon.

we are responsible for our invesments.

the general debate is not very quiet presently, many rushing presently in cryptos, but also a huge fud, and a lot of fighting.

i do not feel more insecure here. there is really a lot of shitcoins.

at least here there is a cohesive attitude, and apparent clarity.

Yes we should but that is not the point. I am asking, objectively, is Aeon a shitcoin? Are we the only people loving it because we hold it?

@boomboombazookajeff. Yes, I have to be honest that the only reason I am still holding Aeon is because of smooth and stoffu because I trust them, and they are the only developers who can get Aeon out of shitcoin status if it was that,
8115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here's Why Ethereum Is a Better Bet, Says Reddit Cofounder on: May 06, 2018, 01:39:22 AM
I honestly do not know if he genuinely believes in it, or if he is just saying the stuff that he said for the sake of increasing the value of ETH that is already on his hands by using his publicity. Either way, doesn't really matter.

To me, BTC will always be the better long term bet. ETH will be eclipsed by newer technologies just like LTC did, and as you said, we haven't seen any real uses of the ETH platform apart from its ERC20 tokens that is used to flood the forum with airdrops, a game involving cats, and hundreds and thousands of ICOs. At least in my opinion bitcoin is the more practical and long term crypto, compared to ETH. We only really need a decentralized currency.

But let's just say that even if ETH is the better long term bet, $15k by the end of the year is just absurd. Even BTC right now needs to climb more than 50% to reach that, let alone Ethereum.

If he truly believes it then he is incompetent and blind. But if he is doing it only for the sake of increasing value then he is trying to scam everyone.

Also, it should matter. The community has already taken more than enough from their scams and criminal behavior.
8116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: May 06, 2018, 01:31:16 AM
Aeon is now down under 20k satoshis. I cancelled my remaining orders to buy on and below 15k satoshis. I reckon if it goes down there it might take another long time to go back over 20k

I am very disappointed in Aeon's performance in the market.

8118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 224: Nunes vs Pennington Info and Prediction Thread on: May 05, 2018, 01:45:30 AM
Another chance to be the headliner, you mean? Yes, but Amanda will not be as big as Ronda Rousey like how Amanda thought she would be after winning the belt and winning versus Ronda.

I wish Ronda transferred to another training camp and became a better MMA fighter. It would be better for the sport.

Also I wish Raquel wins hehehe.

Those were different times, back when not many women were competing and those who were got a lot of attention due to being the first, especially when years back they were reluctant to create a female division thinking that nobody would want to watch it Cheesy
Ronda was a decent fighter for that era and she also liked the spotlights and looked stunning in dresses Wink It was just a matter of time before some tougher girls with iron jaws that aren't afraid to take a punch started to emerge. Ronda vs Nunes makes me think of Gina Carano vs Cyborg.

Yes but Ronda had the special attractiveness and the charm that brought women's MMA to the spotlight. If it was not her, I reckon women's MMA would not be as popular today.

8119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here's Why Ethereum Is a Better Bet, Says Reddit Cofounder on: May 05, 2018, 01:14:34 AM
@snapee11. No bitcoin is at the top because it is the most used and most widely accepted cryptocoin in the world. It is also the safest and the most secure to use. One confirmation for a bitcoin transaction would be enough, others need more to be considered safe.
Every blockchain has its own specifications, remember if we are trying to send any ether to another wallet and it takes only a single confirmation. The only problem is exchange sites need more confirmation to consider it as a secure transaction.
but another news from ethereum foundation https://blog.ethereum.org/2018/05/02/announcing-may-2018-cohort-ef-grants/
This looks good because ethereum foundation tries to search any potential from its own community.

No it is not about a blockchain's specification. It is about how much hashrate a cryptocoin has. If it is higher, then naturally it is more secure because it would make an attacker spend more to attack the blockchain, than the potential reward for attacking. Smaller hashrate coins are less secure and takes less to attack. Therefore more confirmations are needed.
8120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoincash or Maker or Mixin or Ethereum? Who will be next to Bitcoin? on: May 05, 2018, 01:04:44 AM
BCH, Maker, Mixin and ETH are in line on top behind BTC now. ETH is almost been talked about everywhere and BCH as well. We need to now look at Maker and Mixin. Maker has been coming up silently maintaing its 3rd place in value. Today i can see Mixin has entered into top list.

Will Maker and Mixin take over BCH or hold its current place above ETH?  Kindly share your thoughts.
What's maker and mixin? I haven't yet heard about that. ETH is the correct answer consider the next update could make the price of ethereum will be doubled because we will get hardcap for the ethereum total supply due to the pos casper network implementation and staking system. Just curious what is that maker and mixin?

This is an old trick used in the past to pretend to ask about good and legitimate cryptocoins and they also include some of their scamcoins in the sentence to make it appear that they are good and legitimate too.

I reckon it was easier to do in the past because the scamcoins during that time were POW mined, had real working code, a network of nodes and a small community. Today they are nothing but tokens generated somewhere.
